DCCC tries to put the hurt on Hurt

On Tuesday, national Republicans got the candidate they wanted to challenge vulnerable Virginia Congressman Tom Perriello (D) -- Robert Hurt (R).

But Democrats are hoping that internal GOP divisions in the district -- like the Lynchburg Tea Party refusing to endorse Hurt, and the third-party bid by a Republican businessman -- end up helping Perriello in this race.

And now the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has released a Web video (below) that Democrats say is "throwing gasoline on the internal GOP strife in the district."

"While 5th district Republicans make the decision whether to follow party bosses or follow their ideology in the general election, Democrats are reminding them of their own words and the concerns they had about Robert Hurt," DCCC spokesman Jesse Ferguson says.

But National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Ken Spain points out that Hurt's primary opponents -- as well as the former GOP congressman Perriello defeated in '08, Virgil Goode -- are now backing Hurt.

Spain responds: “This is clearly Tom Perriello’s and the Democrats’ final card they have left to play. After voting for the failed stimulus, job-killing cap-and-trade legislation, and a government takeover, Perriello’s political obituary has already written itself: He was a congressman who was more interested in representing President Obama’s and Speaker Pelosi’s values than those of his Virginia constituents.”

OK! Now the "Show More" link shows up at the bottom of the article, so I can read the whole post. It didn't before. I have no idea why! But I am glad I am back in business. I'm adjusting to the new format, adjusting, slowly.

Always smart to take advantage of the other side's problems so the Democrats are just making the smart play pointing out the divisions in the party of sore losers. It's not like the repugnant ones aren't playing the same game everywhere they can but watch them Whine Baby Whine when Democrats take a page out of their own playbook.

One thing the Democrats should do is make Scary Sharry Angle the face of the repugnant ones and tie her weirdo Teahadist Paliban ideas to the national party. Time to scare old geezers on Social Security and Medicare straight back to the Democratic Party which brought them these fine necessary social programs.

Not sure if you heard eric, but the Republicans are scrubbing her website to make it a little more mainstream and palatable for the general public. You don't actually think they would allow here rhetoric up there the way it was and present her to the vot voters of Nevada that way do you?

We are going to see a lot more of this in this election cycle. The Democrats will rally around whatever candidate they run while the tehadists, main stream Republicans and others will split the already dwindelling Republican votes. Democrats should do quite well.

Robert Hurt is a lazy man. Just after winning the primary, he walked right past a street party, sponsored by an organization of which he is a member and should have been attending and one would think, a good opportunity to thank his supporters! When someone motioned for him to stop and join in, he kept right on walking!
