As expected, Gen. David Petraeus has been confirmed to be take over as commander in Afghanistan, officially replacing Gen. Stanley McChrystal, AP reports:
Senate confirms Gen. David Petraeus as the next commander of the war in Afghanistan.
NBC's Kelly O'Donnell reports:
It took a while. The vote was held open for a while, but it's official. The full Senate vote on the confirmation of General David Petraeus just took place. As expected, Petraeus was confirmed for his new role as commander of the war in Afghanistan.
The vote was unanimous. 99-0.
Here's the president's statement, as released by the White House:
I am extremely grateful to the Senate for acting so quickly to confirm General Petraeus to lead our military effort in Afghanistan. General Petraeus is a pivotal part of our effort to succeed in Afghanistan - and in our broader effort to disrupt, dismantle, and defeat al Qaeda - and he has my full confidence. The Senate's quick action and General Petraeus's unrivaled experience will ensure we do not miss a beat in our strategy to break the Taliban's momentum and build Afghan capacity.

Well, I guess that's news. Now tell me General, when are we going to get out of Afghanistan?
Ron, I hope it is soon, however, I don't want us to leave until we are finished. We need to take care of this business - it has been hanging on for far too long, should have been in there when we went to Iraq (what a waste of human life and money!). The one thing I'd like to see somebody do (I don't care who) is bomb the dickens out of that hole in the wall. yes, I'd be sorry to see innocents die, but if we lose this thing the talaban will kill them anyway. At least if we blow the place up and win those who do live will have a better life, and we will know we are rid of ben laden and the taliban. I'm not much of a war supporter, however, when we do go to war I want us in quick, fully armed, and out with a victory even faster.
I think the biggest news here is that there were no votes. 99-0. Wow. That's a first. The party of no must be having convulsions about now.
Whenever he tells President Obama it's time, Ron.
That's the bargain here, Ron...surely you understand that?
Good, now let's move on to other things. There is too much going on to loose focus discussing what we knew would happen anyway, not that it is not important but, our President is really busy right now and there are those that will continue to pile on to make him look unfocused.
P.S. It is good to be back online, had trouble with the old computer.
Well, so the Disastocrats finally gotten hold of General Be Tray Us. What a coup! After all he's been through.
Congressional Abuse
Hillary's scorn and derision
Move On. Org Gen. Be-tray-us Poster,
Surge will fail, said Bammy
Now he is the Bunny boy of the Disastocrats now that MCChrystal is gone and he will help you out of Afghanistan. I wonder. Afghanistan is not Iraq guys. Its the graveyard of empires. Even Alexander couldn't conquer it. And Bammy don't have an empire.
Bammy didn't start this but he is trying to finish it. You are one angry man. Why don't you ever offer solutions instead of name calling and derision?
No Afghanistan is not Iraq - Afthanistan is where we should have been fighting all along - we never should have been in Iraq, something georgie & dickie had no concept what so ever and never tried to understand - but then when you are stupid, greedy, and inept at your job as georgie & dickie both were what do you expect?
Juven, where was the GOBP for the last 8 years in Afganistan...oh I know Rushlimpbagastan or more recently glenbeckistan. Just what is it that the GOBP has in store for the American people if for some unthinkable reason they were to take control, what a jackasstrophy that would be.
The only plan I have seen from them is from Darrel Issa, drive the Whitehouse (sound familiar) nuts and cripple them with subpoenas, great plan you no leading GOBP.
So, jomama72-
I take it that's a "yea" vote for Petraeus to save President Obama's behind...?
