Palin's underwhelming ticket sales

A Sarah Palin event next Thursday (Aug. 26) in Florida is being moved to a smaller venue because of underwhelming ticket sales.

The Jacksonville, FL, event is billed as an "Evening of Hope with Sarah Palin."

"Originally, it was slated for a 2,936-seat theatre, but now it's been moved to a 609 seat theatre," GOP 12 writes.

Aug. 18: NBC's Domenico Montanaro reports on EMILY's List's new campaign taking on Sarah Palin. What does it mean?

Mark Nelson, director of Heroic Media, which is organizing the event, told the Florida Times-Union, "We would rather have a packed theater than a theater that's not so packed," Nelson said.

According to the Times-Union, the group is a non-profit "that helps women facing unexpected pregnancy."

In First Thoughts this morning, we noted that Palin is just 2-for-8 with her endorsements in the last few weeks, including two losses last night.

HAHA, man it's about time the TEA drinkers woke up... never mind that's a stretch.

But the media definitely needs to.

Pigs, lipstick, beer, fish and barfights are the way to go in the upper 1.

Would that be this Sarah Palin... ?

"[T]hey're in charge of the U.S. Senate so if they want to they can really get in there with the senators and make a lot of good policy changes that will make life better for Brandon and his family and his classroom." --Sarah Palin, getting the vice president's constitutional role wrong after being asked by a third grader what the vice president does, interview with NBC affiliate KUSA in Colorado, Oct. 21, 2008 (Watch video clip)

This is not a wasted story. It is a good lesson that people need to read about and learn from. To learn that when you wish to influence people you cannot continue to cross the country lying and making s*** up about other people. You can't go on claiming that someone is a commie terrorist who happens to be the President of the United States unless you can prove it. You can't harp about how someone is not governing and providing leadership unless you can come up with some legitimate leadership qualities of your own and then exhibit them. You can't expect others to listen to any advice or suggestions you may have if you can't name one damn magazine, book or newspaper you read from time to time. No, this is a very good story and thank you First Read. Every blogger needs to read this story carefully and learn from it. Learn of those behaviors that one should not exhibit if they want to be taken sweriously as a genuine, caring and somewhat intelligent person.

CA, I totally agree. The truth is so many knew that there were falsehoods being told, unnecessary language that caused hard feelings and a host of other things that attributed to a division of this nation's citizens and still no one would take the time to try and get this message out to the public.

I shudder to think of the kind of leadership we would be under had President Obama not won the election. People complain about his leadership but leadership is more than one having a position over a number of others. The "number of others" need to be willing to be lead before success in leadership is attained. My dad use to tell me that "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink it". In my opinion, the President has not had very many of the "number of others" that wanted to be lead. Even those that voted for him, not all, but a lot could not and still wont give him time to get his agenda in operational mode. He told us it would take time and with the opposition that has confronted him it is taking a lot longer than most thought it should.

I for one will continue to stand with him, even if I am the only one!!!!!!

Man both of u azzholes need to go back to sleep. This is a stupid story. You both wish you could command an audience of 3.

CA,

No one wants to hear your damn lecturing about what someone should read. This does not prove anything. You are the one that is an insult to intelligence. All you do is rant, rant, rant about how evil the republicans are while pretending to be nuetral. Your just as phoney as anyone else in here or in the political spectrum. I have watched you constantly belittle anyone with a different point of view. Everyone does not and probably never will see the world as you do. You preach unity but yet your deeds show division. Yes there are a lot of people (no it alls) in here that subcribe to the same divisive tactics but most do not preach unity. If you're gonna be partisan then be partisan.

Just as you and your peanut gallery says something is untrue; I can say a lot of the sh!t you spew is BS. It is all OPINION and everyone has one. You Liberals like to project that you have the upper hand on intelligence but believe me you don't. I know a whooooooooole lot of dumbazzez that vote Democrat but can't give you one coherent answer as to why they do so.

Oklahoma,

LEADERSHIP is making decisions even when it's unpopular and not worrying about accolades.

POLITICIANS are POLITICIANS and Obama is a POLITICIAN. Everything he does will be in a political context. If it doesn't help him politically; it will not be done.

      ITM: Oklahoma,

LEADERSHIP is making decisions even when it's unpopular and not worrying about accolades

ITM, you have just proved our point about LEADERSHIP! The reason the President's popularity is falling, according to "YOUR" polls, is because of the policy decisions that he has made. Those decisions are unpopular because he is looking out for the less fortunate of this country and maybe not as much for the "big boys" and their fat pockets and large bank accounts. You say that you have a successful life then good for you, I don't hold that against you. But, what is wrong with the idea of making policies that will level the field for those citizens that need the help and have been on the sidelines looking for the opportunity to get where you say you have arrived? And please don't say that they need to be more proactive about making their own way. If there are no jobs or opportunities to make the start then what are they supposed to do? It seems to me that the policies of the more fortunate is what has made the less fortunate, as some say, more dependant on the government AND the "haves".

And don't appear to be so angry. You are right, these are just opinions and I don't want to force my opinion on anyone, not even you. I am African American also and I am proud for you, but I also want others to be able to say "I have a successful life".

      Love you man!!!

      Okla,

Leadership sometimes is a dual edge sword when it comes to politics. Political leadership will destroy careers if the "public" do not perceive it as helping THEM. Even though I don't agree with Obama on some issues, I never call the man out of his name.

These idiots on here do not make me angry but I do get tired of these WHITE liberals trying to tell me as a blackman that I should not agree with anything Republican and most of these so-called black liberals co-sign right behind them. I am called racist, bigot, Uncle Tom, etc...because I see things and have different experiences than they do.

As far as leveling the playing field. That is a field of dreams. Proposed policies will not solve this situation in America. We will always have the haves and have nots. There is absolutely nothing Obama can do about wealth being passed through families short of the government taking it all. that would not pass any congress. There are just as many rich Democrats in this country and you know as well as I do, they are not coming up off that dollar either. They talk a good game while still manipulating the tax system they publicly criticize.

Now see you stepped to me correctly but a lot of these clowns come incorrect and I just put them on blast.

        #8.6 - Thu Aug 19, 2010 12:58 PM EDT

ITM, I am not talking about making fortunes for those not as fortunate, just giving them a chance to make a decent living for their families and being able to enjoy some of life's pleasures. I do know that there are democrats that are wealthy and are using the same tactics that republicans use, no doubt.

The problem I have with the republican agenda is they portray themselves as caring but in reality use tax breaks for the wealthy as an excuse to continue the same policies that are not working. The wealthy are under the tax breaks of the Bush administration now and the last 6-8 years and the country is going further down hill. They are not working. The republicans have not shown that they have any new ideas that would work for the poor and middle class and I don't have conficence that they really will have any. They scare me. I don't agree with every policy that the present administration comes up with, but, I am willing to give them a chance. We really don't know how those policies would work because the republicans have filibustered for the past 20 months and in my opinion that is not right. If the Obama agenda does not work, after being given a chance, I would be more than ready to vote for someone else. It is time for us to come together and move this nation forward, no matter who does it. If we don't we may be taken over by some other country. We are in a bad way and partisanship is not the answer.

They told us they would not work with the President and they have kept that "promise".

It is laughable to see the lengths the Repubs will go to improve the optics for this dimwit. Its also comical to hear the right wingnuts suggest that the left's focus on Sarah is due to their jealousy of her "accomplishments" at a time when the right has set such a low bar for "accomplishments". After eight years of buffoonry and butchery of the english language by their chief dunce it is easy to see why they would consider it an "accomplishment" for a Repub politician to be capable of proper sentence structure. So, why then is Sarah lauded by the right when she repeatedly falls short of their own low standards? Because, in their desperate search for a leader they are willing to forego her gaffes, incoherence, Bush-isms, unproven education, razor-thin resume and blinding idiocy to regain power even if (or because) her strongest/best attribute is her appearance. They reason that she would most definitely appeal to some segment of the population with like-minded IQ. It is also why even the smartest of the Republican lot would simply acquiesce during the 2008 election, or worse, despite all evidence to the contrary, suggest with the straightest of faces they could muster, that she was capable of leading the country! Republican inside operatives have all but told us that they held their noses through this whole episode. And these devious creatons want those of us who are capable of more than sentence structure to vote for them or turn a blind eye to Sarah.

Well, ain't gonna happen. She is one they've bestowed Messianic status on. They've put her on a pedestal. We pay attention to her not for what she is or says or even how she looks. We pay attention to her because of what she represents: a backwards ass group of regressives who crave power at all costs with an agenda that will surely send us back to the pre-civil war, pre-civil rights era. She represents the glorification of stupidity at a time when we are desperately trying to regain educational dominance. So, she must be silenced, blunted, marginalized and if necessary, cross-haired for annhilation (for you right wing nuts that's a metaphor). Now if we could only get the Palin-lovin' MSM on board. Also.

I don't know how anyone can understand her word salads except perhaps another schizo. Like Glen Beck. Have you ever heard the English language chopped up so badly? Or is it just her inflections? I've never really figured it out. We had 8 years of waiting to see what would come out of President Bush's mouth, which was sometimes pretty humorous....but I can't even follow her cadences, or make sense of her sentences? Is it just me? I WAS at the top of my class in English, spelling and vocabulary, but I guess that is old school (or as some schools spell it - shcool)! And how can someone her age not know what books she reads unless she just doesn't.... So glad the Republicans went down to defeat, can you just imagine the damage that would have been wrought with those two brain trusts, one senile and one stupid?
