In my circle, similar things are said frequently about anyone, even ourselves, though we usually go for being hit by a car or meteorite and dieing. It's something of mocking people's insistence on planning reinforcing the uncertainty of the future.

On the Dems telling him to leave the party if he doesn't like where it's going, would you expand that to the country? Should people who are a member of any group and don't like where it's going automatically leave it instead of trying to change it? If we worked that way, no group would ever change, and all the liberals should have left while Bush was in charge.

Why are Howard Dean and Senator Harry Reid trying to scare white people? ...Why are these guys trying to frighten Caucasians, and what can we do to stop them?

With polls showing about 70% of Americans believe building an Islamic cultural center containing a mosque just two blocks away from Ground Zero is inappropriate, the far left is once again on the run. Failing with the bogus "freedom of religion" argument, the crew that is offended by the manger scene at Christmas is now saying the mosque controversy is another attempt to "scare white people." Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson has put forth that loopy argument on his second home, MSNBC.

You may remember that the radical left designated the Shirley Sherrod story, the ACORN scandal, the New Black Panther/voting booth/Justice Department situation, and the resignation of White House "green jobs" czar Van Jones as previous attempts to scare white Americans. I don't know about you, but I'm white, and those stories did not frighten me. I hope I'm not out of the "white loop."

But here's a key question. Why are Howard Dean and Senator Harry Reid trying to scare white people? Those committed liberals both believe the mosque should be built somewhere else. Why are these guys trying to frighten Caucasians, and what can we do to stop them? It is simply unfair to have the Senate majority leader and the former Governor of Vermont running around trying to instill fear into white guys and gals. This must stop.

What is somewhat scary is that the far-left media continues to peddle this stuff, even in the face of economic disaster. CNN and MSNBC are in deep ratings trouble. Newsweek magazine recently sold for one dollar, and Time is having a tough go of it as well. Air America is bankrupt. The New York Times and the Washington Post are not nearly as successful or influential as they used to be. Not all of those concerns are far-left, but they do have an ideological kinship with the loons; it's just a matter of degree.

Meantime, the anti-liberal Fox News Channel and the Wall Street Journal, whose editorial page is conservative, are both doing very well.

It is because of situations like the Ground Zero mosque that the far left has lost credibility as well as viability. Americans are not stupid, no matter what color they may be. They understand that New York City has more than one hundred mosques and one more located near the site where thousands of innocent people where murdered by fanatical Muslims is certainly not necessary., especially because the building would offend thousands of people who lost loved ones on 9/11. Why would anyone want to offend them? Paging President Obama.

In the end, I believe the Muslim center will not be built. Some kind of compromise will most likely be reached. If not, I can't imagine any New York City construction firm lifting a hammer to build this project. So I predict it will not happen.

I know that may be scary to far-left people, and I apologize if my prognostication upsets you in any way. I never want to frighten anybody. I'll leave that to Congress.

Slightly off-topic, but that is a lie that needs to be countered with the facts whenever it pops up. Yes, Harry said it should be moved. No, Howard Dean said nothing of the kind. He said that the idiots that are screaming about "sensitivity" and drumming up fear and hatred should butt out, and the normal people who have been offended, mostly in ignorance, ought to sit down with the developers and supporters of the project and communicate. He did NOT say the project should be moved. Only that people of good faith should listen to each other, and people of bad faith (such as Gingrich) should not be at the table at all.

When you listen to people talk that way all day long in a bubble where none of the audience ever finds it offensive or insulting, then you are genuinely surprised when someone does find it offensive and insulting and gets pissed about it. At this point, because the obnoxious jackass method has proven so wildly successful and has enriched so many, there really is no motivation among the obnoxious jackass leaders to stop, which means that the right wingers will continue to believe, (as a new generation of right wingers grows up - the ones who are about 8-10 years old right now), that escalating the rhetoric and being personally insulting and condescending is the proper way to speak to a 'liberal' and be surprised when the liberal in question reacts negatively to being treated in that manner and basically tells the right winger to screw off for speaking to him like that.

This is not to say there haven't always been divisions between the right and the left, but the rise of talk radio and the proliferation of internet usage brought these divisions into sharp relief and allowed millions of people who were not political theorists or trained communicators or even very diplomatic to have the resources to act as though they are all of these things, even though a single post demonstrates that they are not. Sarah Palin, (even though I do not talk about her very much), is to me the archetypal 21st century politician and reflective of so many of her constituents - ignorant of most pertinent facts regarding issues, but willing to speak out on all of them just the same, insulting and mocking to her opposition because mockery and sarcasm draw laughs and mask the fact that she does not have the knowledge necessary to provide a thoughtful answer, and all-too-willing to engage in personal attacks that are coached in such a way as to be able to evince great shock and bewilderment that her personal attacks draw genuine anger from the targets she directs them at.

Sarah Palin is the perfect candidate for the obnoxious jackass wing of the right because all of them exhibit these same behaviors on a daily basis and, most importantly, see NOTHING wrong with it and do not understand why anyone else would.

And Barack Obama is the perfect candidate for the obnoxious, condescending, arrogant jackass (quite more appropriate for the donkey party I might add) wing of the left, all of whom exhibit the above said qualities on a daily basis and, most importantly, see NOTHING wrong with it and do not understand why anyone else would.

I agree with most of your comments except about the Tea Party. They are getting out and saying exactly who they are and that is why nthey are doing well. I'm glad you point out that the Repubs were in control 2000 to 2006. This means that for the last 4 years, the Dems have had control of Congress. I don't recall any big legislation coming out of congress from 06-08 that Bush vetoed.

Regardless of party, we have a bunch of political hacks in Washington who feel their only job is to get re-elected. I find it interesting that a "conservative democrat" can disagree with the party leadership and have it suggested that he should just become a republican. So much for the tolerant party of the democrats. Just another sign that they only want what they want.

The reason many of our cities are taking on a third world look is because the current administration wants to embrace all the illegals that have infested our country.
