Former Gingrich 527 closes its doors

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R)

American Solutions for Winning the Future, the once vaunted political group founded by Newt Gingrich, has gone bellyup.

The Center for Public Integrity reports that the organization -- the centerpiece of an enterprise widely known as "Newt Inc." -- has quietly shut its doors and laid off its remianing six staffers, an apparent casualty of Gingrich's beleagered presidential drive.

American Solutions had raised $52 million in the past four years, using the funds to promote Gingrich's various policy positions and helping to keep its founder in the public eye. Its largest single donor: Las Vegas casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, who kicked in $7 million.

Gingrich, who is lagging in the polls, had to cut off ties to American Solutions once he announced for president.

No money: No campaign. That's pretty simple Newt. Now you can also go home.

With the wrong direction the Teabaggers are taking the country, Gingrich actually looks good in comparison. If one takes away all the wife swaps, etc. and allowed "old school" conservatives like Gingrich to speak openly without fear of being "primaried" from the right, it would be refreshing. Huntsman is the only one so far who is taking a bit of a risk, while Romney, McCain, Hatch and others who like Bob Bennett are solid conservatives, yet have totally cowered to the extremists.

The "Tea Party" is the same old far-right folks who supported Goldwater. But it's worse now, because since Reagan, this group has become anit Separation of Church and State. Goldwater, Nixon, Bush Sr., none of these guys had to pander to the Evangelical minority. No longer--it's insane, and they'll take the Republican Party down with them.

Most likely most of these Tea Baggers are still card carrying members of the KKK.

    The KKK were mostly Democrats.

Newt is a savvy, smart man with good ideas. Unfortunately, he made himself unpalatable due to decisions he made in his personal life.

That would be fine if he was a Democrat and didn't send nude photos of himself via his cell phone. But he's not.

Poor Bob, still not happy, President Obama came home early from vaction just like he wanted so Bob had to find another pretend reason to hate on President Obama.

Totally ignoring that the republicans are getting ready to raise his taxes but not raise taxes on the rich. Ironic the party you are defending is getting ready to raise your taxes.

I told you they only care for the rich and the rest of America can just fall over and die.

Poor Gingrich not running for president and his third wife won't be first lady. Even his own party doesn't want him.

Who do you think the Big O is going to "officially" raise taxes on? What threshold do you consider as "rich"? His policies have already "raised taxes" on the poor.

I have a couple others on ignore, but Bob is such an easy target with all his repeated propaganda talking points and its almost entertaining seeing how Bob can twist anything into reasons to hate Obama.

My sister and I use to make jokes about our sister-in-law that got sick or something and had to be waited on every time she came to our house and could never help in the kitchen. We would laugh and laugh with all the excuses we thought she would make when we realized it was a pattern. I especially remember when my sister and I nearly fell out of our chairs laughing when on one visit she used the very excuse we had been laughing about before she arrived and Mom sent us to our rooms trying not to laugh herself.

Bob makes me laugh in the same way that his post are ridiculous. He just tries so hard to make everything a negative and actually thinks that the rest of us believe him like my sister in law though we believed her.

Newt is crazy as a bedbug, mean as a snake, and as self-centered as a puppy, but by comparison he seems more qualified than the even crazier, meaner, and more narcisstic Republican presidential candidates who are presently frightening the electorate.

Poor old Newt has foot in mouth disease....he accidentally tells the truth about the right wing of his party and it's radical social agenda, and he gets tromped until he knuckles under and swallows....and he's done.

Perry won't play in Peoria or most other places....that schoolyard bully routine is not nearly as appealing as he thinks....and the rest of what comes out of his mouth. Now he's waving the flag-last year he was all for secession.

Flag wavers always make me wonder what they have to hide. True patriots don't have to scream it from the rooftops, they just uphold the Constitution and try to make the USA what it was intended to be....a lot more liberal-ask George if you're not sure.

I don’t much care for either one but ….

Fred Thompson is an actor, an attorney, a Lobbyist and an 8 year Senator from TN. Fred was elected to finish Al Gore’s unexpired term, replacing Harlan Mathews who was appointed to replace Al Gore until a special election was held. Fred won the special election and his reelection both with over 60% of the vote.

Fred is a better person than Newt and more reasonable for a conservative.

You could grow more talent under a rock .Paul And the Latest Texas Turkey Perry ,along with a couple of Bushes validates the fact that we should let Texas Seceede from the Us and go down and screw up Mexico like they want to do here. It is really hard to believe that their is that much stupidity in one state. I do not visualize the US VOters running to the poles for this group of booby prizes.

I really dont understand Newt for any average american just browsing the net could tell immediately that

Newt could not win the presidental nomination and I think his ploy was money motivation.

With his past history in politics I dont see his logic in thinking he could get anywhere in a presidental race.

I will give him an E for effort.
