Vice President Joe Biden (D)
Vice President Joe Biden lashed out at critics today who have claimed that his and the President's efforts to get a job's bill passed is mere "campaigning."
"Are we campaigning?" he said. "Yes! We are campaigning to change this environment."
Biden was in York, Pa., visiting the Goode Elementary School to argue that the American Jobs Act would support 400,000 education jobs.
Because of budget cuts, the York School District has been forced to lay off 100 teachers.
Waxing at times poetic, Biden stressed the importance of education in keeping the nation competitive.
"If our students suffer, our future suffers,” Biden said, adding, "They are the kite strings that lift our national ambitions aloft."

Another DUH story!
Of course they're campaigning!
In the midst of the campaign is the message that hurting Americans don't have 13 months to sit around while Congress fiddles and the country burns!
If the OWS movement is any indication, the 99% have heard the message LOUD & CLEAR!
Love the answer or go to hell.....I sure love this answer.
Ms Feisty....Happy Birthday!!!!
OWS poll, AJA poll:
Last night MSNBC poll said that 67% of New Yorkers support OWS. NY being the hub of the financial world, it says a lot. Also that the locals don't mind their town being populated by OWS for the last month.
...NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll has found that 63% of Americans support the American Jobs Act, and 64% of those surveyed agreed that it is a good idea to raise taxes on the wealthy
http://www.politicususa.com/en/obama-american-jobs-act-poll
"....When the legislation's details are included in a follow-up question -- that it would cut payroll taxes, fund new road construction, extend unemployment benefits, and that it would be paid for by increasing taxes on the wealthy -- 63 percent say they favor the bill and 32 percent oppose it.
What's more, 64 percent of respondents agree with the statement that it is a "good idea" to raise taxes on the wealthy and corporations, because they should pay their fair share and can afford to pay more to help fund programs and government operations."

from"NBC/WJS - American Jobs Act Wildly Popular with the Public.
Great point birthday girl.
So the real issue therefore is: why campaign, when they could be governing?
Or the best campaign would be to turn around this turgid economy. But rather than huddle up with congressional leaders, Obama is out in a bus, talking about what he could or might do.
Maybe he should be back actually doing something. Last I checked his party still controlled the Senate, which still has not passed a budget.
So riddle me this gang - how do you even try to run a country when you don't even have a budget?
Why isn't getting a budget passed job 1?
I'm sure the GOP would rather Biden and Obama sit in Washington DC and wait for the Republicans in the Senate to filibuster to death any bill that might help put people back to work.
Shorter GOP: Get to the back of the bus (DC in this case) and keep your mouth shut!
Presidents have had to campaign for some decades now.
Back in President Carter's day, it was only necessary for citizens to tick a box on their tax returns, saying they agreed to give $3 towards the election.
Back then, no campaigning required for the President.
Now in 2011 with every word & move covered 24/7, with the global 24/7 issues,
and the Great Bush Recession to deal with without any help from GOP to recover from it.....our President has to campaign as well.
Let's not forget the 'Citizen's United' manufactured, baloney environment where anybody and his dog can donate secret money, even foreign transnationals.
We don't forget GOP voted twice against disclosure.
You didn't think Democrats would just roll over and not campaign? Or did you?
backhouse, of course they do... it is someone elses money and the respondants have forgotten how little obama did to maintain focus on economoic recovery after the 2009 stimulas was enacted.
Much like GDP took a bump up to around 5% with a nearly $900 billion influx into the economy obama is looking for the same to happen in 2012 with an influx of $446 billion to claim how good his job bill is working to get re-elected.
Unfortunately for him, we know that the teachers jobs he saved were still lost when $$$ ran out, unemployment is still at 9.1%, current job openings sit at about 3.1 million and his wishfull thinking of creating 2 million jobs has been debunked by bloombergs survey of over 30 economists that puts the average number of jobs created more in line with 250k.
So backhouse, just what is "fair share"? Feel free to quote IRS data as to the % paid in income taxes by the wealthy and corporations.
Bet if obama really wanted to be "fair" he would have everyone from the minimum wage worker to the wealthy pay more in taxes. Wonder what the poll numbers would show then?
As for the OWS crowd, I wonder what the poll respondants would say about increased taxes being collected to pay for the demonstrations? Of course, let the wealthy and corporations pay their "fair share", right backhouse?
Biden, the gift that keeps on giving....
Au contraire.
The Obama Administration focused on the economy with gusto immediately upon being sworn into Office.
No-one, nobody knew at the time that we'd lost 8 million jobs.
Nor that the GDP was about to drop to minus 8.9%. (Not minus 3.9%)
The stimulus worked, though cunningly watered down by GOP. Even so, it created and saved millions of jobs in 2009 and as far as the money stretched.
If you are a Republican, recognize that your party has colluded for decades with the top 1% ~ to crash our economy and privatize our country to line their pockets to the fullest extent.
Together they are pursuing this goal at any cost and will squeeze every last dollar out of ordinary people to get what they want.
Great point birthday girl.
So the real issue therefore is: why campaign, when they could be governing?
Or the best campaign would be to turn around this turgid economy. But rather than huddle up with congressional leaders, Obama is out in a bus, talking about what he could or might do.

Spanky, did you really have to piss on Nasty's birthday candles instead of letting her blow them out??
Yeah, you probably did. Thanks.
Yes! I love Biden's answer. President Obama and Joe Biden are the only politicians out there who are fighting for something, fighting for a Jobs Bill, fighting to fix this economy, all the other politicians are fighting for their "constituency:" the 1% who control the purse strings.
Pffft. Spanky and American, you silly geese (gooses?)
"Fair" is taxing anyone making more than I do!
Didn't you know that? :D
If we don't properly educate our children, where does the "one percent" think the workers of tomorrow will come from that they will need to exploit in order to continue making their outrageous incomes?
Or, wait. They don't care about that, do they? The jobs are no longer here, anyway.
It gets harder and harder to buy domestic. Yesterday, I wanted to respond to a post by someone complaining that Black and Decker tools are not made in the US by telling him about Milwaukee Tools, and then I looked at Milwaukee Tools' website and found out they now have facilities in Canada and Mexico, as well. Thank NAFTA for that. I put on a new sweater this morning made by a company that used to manufacture women's clothing in Milwaukee, as well, and found out that the sweater was made in Vietnam. There is, no doubt, some "free" trade agreement responsible for that, too.
"Free" as in free from regulation and able to pay a substandard wage, and probably without benefits. Some interesting reading about Vietnam's health care system here:
http://www.imf.org/external/country/vnm/rr/sp/012105.pdf
I can't tell you how sad this makes me, but don't blame the largely well-educated American workers who are participating in OWS for their not having jobs. Rather, blame it on Congress and the fat-cat business leaders who pay our politicians handsomely to achieve these sorts of trade policies.
As nurse, I believe it is, keeps trying to say, so eloquently: "We have met the enemy, and he is us.
Or rather, he is the one percent.
And that, in a nutshell, is why the 99 percent are screwed.
Good day Spanky see you are still around, still no idea how the senate works or does not work. All you can say is that the Dems control the senate when you know that is smoke and mirrors. The Dems do not have that wonderful thing called a super majority which it takes to overturn a filibuster which of course the republicans love to use more than any other party in history. How do you pass any bill when you know the other party will simply out of hand vote it down by using the filibuster which unless some republicans turn on their own which of course due to their oath to the country of Grover. Not sure were that is on a map can you show me. So to answer your riddle joker, because creating jobs is no#1 to the republicans then you can go back to tax cuts for the rich and corporations so they can create again more jobs, you know like they have the last ten years of tax cuts. Oh of course there was that pesky little flirt with recession when they all went bust. Should have let them fail since nothing would have happened anyway. So how was that budget thing going to work anyway. Republican way or no way. Now that is a political process if I ever saw one.
How about somebody that makes 50 times what you do, if they pay the same percentage as you, is that fair?
Yup, Campaining to defeat Obama, for the TeaPeople (yet to be born) began in December 2008 before he took the oath of office!
Demint with his 'Waterloo statement'!
Limbaugh with his 'wanting to see the President fail'
on and on and on with name calling and non-stop vitriol, lies. ....But Weeper of the House says he 'got 98% of what he wanted', so what's the problem TeaPeople?...Oh, gotta go for the other 2%?...Never happy...all or nothing!
IAMA 99%
Hey now Amy-Baby.
I am in total agreement with you. I think centralization of economy is going to be the spark that incites world war 3.
Free trade agreements are the strands of the web. Let's get rid of 'em and quit the Marshall Plan in entirety (pull our troops out of europe, japan, etc).
As for you, Forrest...
Yes. It is. If they are MAKING 50 times more than me, then obviously I need to either aspire to get where they're at or be content with my lot in life.
The power is, still, in my hands.
Win or lose, it's still my decision. Am I willing to make the sacrifice (usually young animals, sometimes a baby) to get to that point in life?
Funny that you guys mention and cheer the OWS, yet you also cry and whine about saving jobs for teachers and police officiers, or puttting them back to work.
Estimates are that the OWS will cost broke New York City over $6 million by the end of the month......
The article above mentions 100 teachers being laid off ......
So in effect the $6 million could have saved another 100 jobs @ $60,000.00 a job?
Libs are really something.
BTW - Biden says the half trillion for the American Jobs Act would "support" 400,000 education jobs?
So "support" is the new vague, diaphanous Obama word play?
He has gone from creating jobs to somehow "saving" jobs to now "supporting" jobs?
Can't support bras, jock straps and panty hose do that for only a mil or two?
Of course they did, all 40 +/- of them in the senate and all those in the house. LMAO, backhouse. At least we now know that obamas economic advisors fed him BS. Oppps, I am so sorry, obama doesn't listen to his advisors, the jr senator from illinois knows it all!
Interesting thing his slogan of "hope and change", everyone now knows how well that worked out for America. We are now in our second summer of recovery with stagnent growth. To think that obama is much like the boxer muhhamid ali who could float like a butterfly around his opposition but unlike ali, obama can't sting like a bee (except to authorize assasinations or military interventions)...
Well Forrest, if they make 50 time more and pay the same percentage of tax, then they will pay 50 times more tax than me.
If you make $100,000 @ 10% = $10,000 tax
50 X $100,000 = $5,000,000 @10% = $500,000 tax
See what all that engineerin' has done for me? I can cypher.
So yeah that's fair.
Anna Molly I agree with your post as I most often do. Concerning your words about the OWS protesters did you happen to see Barney Frank on Maddow last night.
From Maddow blog
Frank "[S]imply being in a public place and voicing your opinion in and of itself doesn't do anything politically. It is the prerequisite, I hope, for people getting together and voting and engaging things.
And I understand some of the people on Occupy Wall Street are kind of critical of that. They think that's conventional politics.
Well, you know, the most successful organization in America in getting its views adopted is the National Rifle Association. They are in many cases a minority. But in addition to everything else they do, they very effectively identify who the members of the Congress are, the legislatures and vote for them.
So, as I said, I welcome the Wall Street energy. I don't agree with everything some of the people say. I agree with the general thrust of it. But it's not self-executing. It has to be translated into political activity if it's going to have the impact. And -- you know, I would just say, the last thing, we had an election last year in which people who disagree with them, and disagree with me and with you, got elected."
______
I agree with Frank. What say you, do you think that this movement will amount to anything? My thoughts is that the OWS may do some harm and little good to the Democrats if the majority of their ideas are to forment change sans voting, or to give up on the conventional part of politics.
I think they have been sucessful in bringing their anger and excitement to the forefront. However, I would suggest that they, pack their bags, plan another rally perhaps, but don't allow this to turn into an Italian or Greece riot. I fear the longer this stretches it could turn ugly through the part of fringe elements or by retaliation by provocations/abuses from the police.
I support their right to assemble and petition for redress of greivances even though those greivances are many and unfocused; but I don't see how a prolonged occupation can help.
You lost me there teknishan with the power in your hands, and the sacrifice of young animals stuff, I'm just not following it. So was that a yes that if I make my hundred grand this year, is it fair for somebody who makes 5 million to pay the same percentage as me in taxes?
Thanks for the post Mark, for the first time ever, I agree with Barney Frank.
I, personally, do not believe this 'movement' will have the ability to get itself out of the rhetoric and into office as the Tea Party did. Time will tell.
Good luck with St. Louis, you guys kicked our butts. Texas in 5.
Hard to remember the last time the GOPTPers in Congress were actually "governing". They haven't tried to govern in nearly 3 years--it's obstruct, block, deny, delay and defeat President Obama. In January, the newly minted GOP House decided they would work two weeks and take one off meaning they are campaigning instead of governing.
@Yellowdog-MarkD
Barney frank should be in prison, the guy is a crook. He told the congress in 2006 under oath that Fannie and Freddie were in perfect financial shape AFTER Bush raised the alarm about them being insolvent. He is also the author of the most corrupt regulation in history, Dodd Frank bill.
Can't believe you actually agree with anything that pig actually says.
Yellowdog says, "My thoughts is that the OWS may do some harm and little good to the Democrats if the majority of their ideas are to forment change sans voting, or to give up on the conventional part of politics."
I tend to agree. That said I think OWS will be marginally more useful should Mitt Romney win the GOP nomination. Romney is a vulture capitalist who was born into vast wealth and increased that wealth by firing Americans and sending their jobs overseas. He also pays his taxes (according to estimates) at around a 14% effective tax rate. Romney provides OWS with the perfect motivation to GO OUT AND VOTE!
Forrest,
In answer to your question, YES. That is the definition of a "Fair Tax".
Better question is why would it be more justified that the person making more pay a higher percentage? Why would that be more "Fair" in your mind? Does he get more benefit from the government programs and institutions he is paying more to support? In fact, I would contend, that he is getting less benefit from these systems and programs.
Everyone should pay the same percentage. This progressive tax system is straight out of the Marxists handbook. And the demonization of those already paying a higher percentage is coming straight from the Chief Marxist.
ABO 2012
If there is "stagnant growth", look to your own GOPTP party that has failed to address jobs or growing the economy since they ran on it last November.
When did the GOPTPers do any governing in Congress?
What we HAVE seen them do for since early 2009, is filibuster at 3 times the pace ever seen before in American history,
Their leadership's heavily touted & loud goal has been to delay/deny/defeat President Obama at any price to the American people.
Since January, the new GOP House decided to work 3 days a week, two weeks weeks on and one week off.
Is this 'governing' or does it show any intent to govern on the part of GOP?
Strange...I was in downtown Phoenix last evening and mingled with about 70 demonstrators. There were 8 police officers "controlling" the crowd. It suddenly occurred to me that the City of Phoenix had literally 10's of thousands in salaries tied up to control a very peaceful crowd. When I asked the officer why there were so many cops there, I was told to move 2 feet across an imaginary line that I could not cross on PUBLIC PROPERTY. I asked the cop if that badge was weighing him down and has face turned about 3 shades of purple.
If part the jobs bill is going to hire more cops to "police" us, then I want no part of it!
The OWS movement will have little value or impact until some of current political leadership latches onto them and gives them a coherent voice. Much like the republicans did with the Tea Party. Sadly NO ONE in the Democratic Party has the testicularity to do that at this juncture which doesn't surprise me. At least not in this election cycle.
No matter what happens in 2012...Watch out for a firestorm and a third party emerging in 2015. It won't be pretty!
Civil rights marches didn't work immediately. Vietnam war marches didn't work immediately. Wisconsin's marches didn't stop the collective bargaining bill from being passed, but they did eventually result in pretty much neutralizing the state legislature against future misbehavior by Walker and his minions.
So, yes, it's possible for the OWS movement to create change, if as Barney Frank says, those who march find ways to channel their energy into action.
Unfortunately, however, Frank may have unwittingly identified the problem. Where are the Democratic members of Congress as related to OWS? Cowering in the corner because they're afraid that supporting the protests will cost them campaign contributions?
Nothing will happen unless the politicians see how this butters their bread.
And that may take a while. First a few seats overturned, and then a few more, despite gerrymandering, and THEN we might begin to see some real reforms. But probably not until a LOT more damage is done.
EXACTLY.
WCA - The ALCS were fun, didn't want to brag. Thanks for the support for the Rangers.
Edit -
Wow a lot of comments. I'll have to respond.
If we don't properly educate our children, where does the "one percent" think the workers of tomorrow will come from that they will need to exploit in order to continue making their outrageous incomes?
__________________________________________
One word: Robotics.
Spot on Anna Molly...The country will be in the sewer and then maybe we'll have some real change...That said, OWS is in the wrong places...They really need to be on "K"street and Capital Hill and yes the White House and the steps of the Supreme Court. The problem is with the GOVERNMENT who has sold out the middle class.
brendan4
You have the right to your opinion. I was not trying to re litigate the cause of the financial crisis and housing fall. I was commenting on his view of the OWS movement.
However, since you asked, I think that the Frank Dodd bill although not sufficiently written to prevent another financial crisis and more rounds of bank bailouts, tried to address serious problems. The attempt was to pursue financial fraud through more regulations, create accountability for big banks by proposing that banks have more liquid assets.
As far as the housing crisis and defaults, there are plenty of blame to go around. I tend to blame Wall street, the big banks, politicians and to a lesser degree those that went out of their way to buy a house beyond their means to keep up with the Jones.
Well WCA as Spanky might say that is Unicorns and Rainbows because for the last ten years I pay about 30% and they have been paying about 15%. Nobody is ever going to lower my taxes to 10%, you know that will never happen.
Just a note about the OWS crowd, still waiting for MSNBC or First Read to show who is really running the demonstrations in NYC. Saw news clips yesterday showing speeches being given by:
American Nazi Party; Socialist Party USA; Communist Party USA, and verbal support from the Leaders from Iran and Venezuela and let's not forget the SEIU, teachers union, AFL&CIO Leaders, oh, and the Congressional Democratic Campaign Committee plus a number of democratic politicians.
I believe these demonstrations will soon fade out because they will accomplish nothing. There was a survey that showed 56% think the problems are caused by Washington and 36% blame Wall Street, so why aren't these ding bats in Washington protesting. Mayor Bloomberg could put a stop to this anytime, but just don't have the guts.
Spanker.
They did govern...when they had a congress that was willing to do something.
The 111th congress passed more major legislation then any congress in recent history.
The 112th congress is on track to be more of a do nothing congress then the original do nothing congress.
What changed? The GOP controlles the House, and has more power to block in the Senate.
Also, just look at the successes when the adminstration doesn't have to deal with congress, such as foreign policy.
Bin Laden killed, out of Iraq, the pirates killed and hostages saved, Al Qaeda is being dismantled.....
Your delusion, while amusing to me, does you no favors.
Backhose navy,
The recession was officially over in June 2009. This has been a recovery since 6 months into Obama's administration. Obama did nothing to get out of the recession. Btw - If this was a recession, why would economist talk about falling back into another a recession - a double dip recession, etc?
yep ... the playing field has been leveled enough to where the repubs can compete with the union dogs and their foreign transnationals.
By focusing completely on passing Obamacare?
Do you even know what you are talking about? GDP was minus 8.9%, huh?
I think you / think progress meant the relationship of revenue to outlay as a percentage of GDP.
Did they mention that the OMB is estimating it going to drop further under Obama to 10.9% for 2011?
Anna Molly - I agree, but perhaps they should redirect their energies to marching like the TP did. Use the rest of their time for mobilizing and registering to vote. It was easy for the GOP to latch onto the TP because there were limited chances of flare ups/violence in a daylong march or rally. The OWS is a multi week process that I hope will continue to be relatively violence free. Perhaps I am being biased but if Democrats march and rally and something bad happens, the media will be all over it with condemnation. The first Democrat, other than B. Sanders who latches on to them may be burned if things turn nasty.
Nisl - Yes they need to register and vote. As a democratic election judge and precinct captain I hear all the complaints but when I ask them if they are registered, or even after I register them I don't see them come election day. Believe me, being in a Texas county easy to track those potential democratic people who complain but then don't bother on voting.
Grump,
Yes...it is fair that it should be the same percentage...
"Are we campaigning?" he said. "Yes! We are campaigning to change this environment."
lol, Joe.
You and President Obama ARE "this environment"!
Campaign for change, Joe...hope, too!
Romney/Rubio 2012.
Forrest 30 to 15 isn't what you asked. So you tell me, is the situation I described fair? The numbers I used were for ease of calculation, estimation if you will.
You are confusing Income tax with Capital gains tax. I know this board has been through that many, many times.
They are using you Forrest, to further their Class Warfare agenda through lies and mis-information and you don't even realize it.
Mixed.
Not really.
--------
The 111th congress: The most legislatively productive in recent history.
The 112th congress: More do nothing then the original do nothing congress.
What changed? The GOP took the House and seats in the Senate.
----------
The economy was slowly improving up until the ARRA started to run out, the GOP refused to extend relief to the states, the GOP started cutting (especially at the state levels), the Tea Nuts led us to the brink of default resulting in a credit downgrade, etc, etc...
The GOP also refuses to consider policies that, according to independent analysis, will help the economy. Even policies they traditionally supported (not that that is a novel thing since Obama was elected).
The GOP has yet to put forth anything to help the economy. (Short of ideological wish lists that independent analysis has found will do little or nothing to help the economy.)
Study up.
If such a prediction is being made about the employment numbers whether it has any substance or not:
Then it is time for GOP to vote for millions of jobs for the American people.
However, every single GOP Senator voted against the American Jobs Act last week.
If they are genuinely worried about unemployment going up in America,
why did they NOT vote for every and any potential to put millions of Americans back to work? For example, millions of construction workers laid off due to the Housing bubble & bust created by Wall street crimes and the 1% greed for $$$$more-more-more.
The American Jobs Act is ABC. It is clearly laid out. Polling shows two-thirds of Americans say Yes to the components of the AJA.
But the patriotic, Norquistian GOP voted against it en masse.
All 100% of them.
So what are they FOR? We conclude they are for crashing the US Economy, handing our government over to the 1%, so they can privatize the lot of us and give us beans and peas for wages.
Easy Forrest invest everything you got in tax free muni bonds.
Then WHAM, you can pay ZERO taxes.
Or you could just do so serious tax planning and maximize on capital gains, cause as you know, they are more favorably taxed.
Mixed is as per usual, spot on - Obama is the environment that we all seek to change.
Hope and Change ain't so good when you are the establishment.
ABO.
I'm not confused WCA, income is income many of the wealthy gain a lot of income through capital gains, and they get a lower rate and that is not fair, now we have different rules because of how you get your income. I won a really nice chunk of change at the Casino a few nights ago (man it was cool) but they took federal and state taxes right out of it, how come I didn't get to do the capital gains thing. Income is income they make 50 times what I make, they pay a far less percentage on that income than I do on my income, basically they pay 15% tops and I pay 30 % you can only argue why that is, and can not refute that it is the way it is, I am not the one confused about what is going on here. I'm not a tax accountant and don't need to be to look at the stacks o cash on the table and see who's pile is picking up the tab.
brendan4. In 2006, Lehman Brothers was in great shape, too; in fact S & P gave them a double A rating in 2008. Not to mention the other financial institituions that were in "great shape" in 2008 but needed TARP to survive. It is disingenuous to single out Fannie and Freddie and Barnie Frank just because you've heard the GOP blame them.
Spanker.
Have you located those policies and there costs yet?
(You seemed so confident.)
LOL!!!
I'm all into midcaps, primarily in the nasdaq, Spanky, it's probably more risky than some would advise a guy my age, but muni bonds will never make Mrs. Grump a rich widow in spite of their tax advantages.
WCA, the really wealthy 1% make nearly all of their income in the form of capital gains which is taxed at 15%. Hedge fund managers incomes are nearly all capital gains--some making billions annually. Reagan believed that capital gains should be taxed close to a person's income earnings rate. Reagan wasn't greedy, he believed in fair.
"They are the kite strings that lift our national ambitions aloft."
WTF?? Only PMSNBC could call this poetic. He's a moron.
Isn't it the kite that lifts the string(s)?? And the string that holds the
kite back??
Like I said, moron.
Oh Joe, If olny we could have made you President. I'm sure you didnt expect to be involved in such a lousy presidency when you signed on. I think we'll see a better candidate come into this race. This election is ripe for a better leader to come from the left, right, middle, liberal conservative it really doesnt matter at this point. The last thing this country needs is to spread the Obama mentality that it's some elses fault you are unemployed, un-educated, poor, un-healthy, blah blah blah. Let's elect someone who can lead this country to greatness again.....
Yeah, what we really need is a vulture capitalist that made millions by firing Americans and sending their jobs to China!
If only such a candidate existed!
Nisl, Were you the guy at the Occupy Wall Street camp I saw on TV holding the "End Capitalism" sign with the hoops in his ears and the bone in his nose? Yea I wonder why he can't find a job?? It just doesnt seem fair.....
UAW - Nope, I've never been a fan of protests.
Why, did you want to ask that guy out? Really, this is NOT a dating web site, take your sexual hangups elsewhere please.
Too funny Thanks Nisl. I walked into that one....
Well Biden walked into this one:
Biden was in York, Pa., visiting the Goode Elementary School to argue that the American Jobs Act would support 400,000 education jobs.
I didn't really know Biden was arguing the American Jobs Act with those in an elementary school. Something tells me those children are more concerned with what type of lunch they are being served than anything to do with jobs! ROFL!!! What a maroon!
brianb - I see you are a fan of bugs also! Keep on keepin' on!
Bugs is the boss, american!
The maroon is the one who ignored that 100 teachers were laid off in that district and those kids are paying the price. It was at a school because those children will go home and tell their parents about seeing VP Biden and what he said regarding the jobs act putting their teachers back in the classroom. Guess logic was never a strong suit for some conservative posters.
Hearts and flowers Jody. People are laid off every day of the week. I didn't come crying on this board when I was last laid off. Now you bleeding heart liberals think Obama cares about everyone because he's trying to take an additional half a trillion dollars to claim he has a jobs bill. His stimulus didn't work... now he wants everyone to believe he's going to make it work this time?
Fool me once, shame on you... fool me twice, shame on me!
Or maybe those kids will go home and tell unemployed dad that Joe says Obama's jobs act will employ 100 more teachers at thier school. While Dad scratches his head and wonders how did a teachers job ever get more important that the tax payers job who has to pay for it??? We need a better leader in the White House. While Obama's rhetoric fueled the miss guided occupy Wall Street crowd people who really want a job, education etc. are staying on thier path to progress regardless of what the government does.
DUH!! We HAVE "...abetter leader in the White House." than we did the previous eight years.
I don't know about you teapublicans and your selective memory...
Stupid - with comments like that, no wonder you are labeled stupid. Tell me stupid.. did you get all excited when coming up with your name? thumb too fast on the spacebar yo uthink?
Come on Stupid, Bringing up and blaming Bush might have worked to get Obama elected but it hasnt accomplished much after that. Let's pick a real leader in 2012. The novelty has worn off Obama even for those who voted based on skin color....
Not only can you guys not think for yourselves, I guess you can't READ either....
I know my user name frustrates you to no end because you RNC advocates want everybody to accept what you say just because you say it... without question... and when some of us see through your illogical spin and ignorant arguements or call you on your unsupported positions, or [Heaven help us] cite facts and sources which prove the lies of your RNC platform planks, it makes your head explode.
TOO BAD! Deal with it.
BrianB, sure laying off teachers makes so much sense when republican governors and legislators gave more tax cuts to the weathy and cut education funding in the process. Hearts and flowers? It is about educating children for the future but apparently that is something that escapes conservatives.
Those Jug heads occupying Wall Street arent going to like this......
Bank of America was the top Dow performer today, rising 8.5% to $6.54. The troubled banking giant earned $6.23 billion in the third quarter as credit quality improved and results were boosted by one-time items, including a $4.5 billion gain in fair-value adjustments of structured liabilities.
Goldman Sachs had risen 4.2% to $100.98 despite reporting only its second quarterly loss in 12 years.
You don't get the point????
I get the point- and along with the rest of the taxpayers, the shaft.
Ol'Joe just told the world the truth- as he is won't to do. Obama is out there campaigning ON OUR DIME.
So is Biden.
Now, is there some authority to which this can be reported, with Biden's word as proof? Cause, I want these two held accountable- I want them to stop throwing fistfuls of taxpayer dollars to the wind because Obama feels entitled.
I want restitution.
So, to whom do we report this? Cause, it needs to be done- now.
That is how American politics works... deal with it.
Old Joe has been campaigning his whole life and the last three with Obama and he might as well campaign one more year thats all they know how to do. Well you can see from the smile in the picture his viagra kicked in to bad he doesn't remember what to do when that happens lol :)
Go joe, go! Just one question for you and obama, who is governing?
american-2051576
I think you should have rephrased that question and direct it to the congress where you have Boehner as bystanders head, Cantor as TP MOB chief while Grover commands all the zombies.
So pen, tell us about all the house passed bills being tabled by reid and not even being brought up for debate?
How about the 2012 budget? The house passed one and still reid has made little effort to come up with a counter proposal. To think that obama still hasn't lit a fire under reids azz to get one going. Just think how that will play for the electorate in 2012.
Yepper, uncontrolled spending with no concrete plans from the left to fix it sure gave Americans a taste of going from AAA to AA+. BTW - why doesn't obama raise taxes across the board? Isn't that what being "fair" is trully all about. My guess is that the conservatives would also be opposed to raising taxes across the board as well.
::LQQking left:: ::Crickets:: "chirp chirp chirp" "chirp chirp chirp"
When the question about Reid tabling the bills are asked... they have nothing else to say.
american, stop smearing the truth.
The Senate tabled the House bills because the Republicans shut off debate on them.
The Senate has not passed the House's budget because it is a Republican budget, not an American budget.
The credit rating was downgraded because the Republicans held the country hostage to further their own agenda.
Obama has tried to raise taxes across the board. The Republicans don't want to raise taxes for the wealthy.
Read and learn.
Zombies on the right, Reid will do something as soon as the right sets itself free from the tax monsters, Grover Norquist, and start critical thinking deliberations........just like ST Regan raised taxes 11 times.
ok feldon, got the links supporting your claim on the bill tabling?
Obama wanting to raise taxes across the board? Sweety, why didn't you say so the first time? I suppose that is why obama extended the tax cuts (bush's) for the 98%'ers but didn't want to extend the cuts on the top 2% in the 4th qtr 2010.
4th qtr 2010 is still in the realm of current events.
Who said that the senate needs to pass the houses FY 2012 budget. All I said is why hasn't the senate come up with an alternate budget. My direct quote was...
Please do follow your own advise...
american, you have to give the liberals a little slack. It's football season and major league baseball is getting ready for the world series. Hockey season is right around the corner and the NBA is warming up. Too many sports converging at the same time. It's this time of the year where liberals go into overdrive because they can't handle all the stimulus. You know, with the holidays coming up... Halloween in a week... Thanksgiving in a month... and everyone knows what happens around Christmas time. It really is no wonder why liberals get their facts all chewed up then act all pissy about it when they are corrected.
Is Congress governing, american? President Obama cannot sign legislation IF Congress doesn't pass it. PEN 24 is right, you've asked the wrong question.
Brianb-999431
You should be begging Grover Norquist to cut your zombies in the congress some slacks so they remember to how to behave like humans again.
Pen, I don't give a flying flip about Grover Norquist, nor your perception of who he is either. You must have me confused with someone who cares about the things you are against. I'm certain you are all for things I support.... HA!
Brianb-999431
NO. Every of your post do not seem to support your claim about not giving a flying flip about the grand master, Grover. You're very much comfortable with with this congress and their adopted zombie way of life. You bought into this Do Nothing Attitude of the congress. Be bold and support what you are, A Zombie.
"Are we campaigning?" F***ing A Skippy!
That's what you HAVE to do when that's all the other side has been doing since the day you took office!
Sorry, righties, if it upsets you to watch a guy defend himself.
Oh no drive By - it is never upsetting to hear the mighty joe talk.
Amusing yes. Comical at times, sure.
Upsetting? Oh no, certainly not.
So Drive By, Biden as a role in the Senate, so what's he doing to get a budget passed?
NOW you did it Buzz - why did you have to go & burst their little bubbles? lol
DBO,
We don't care if Obama and Biden run around the country campaigning, but we do mind that they are doing it on the public dime. Obama is raising millions for his campaign, in fact he says he needs to raise 1 billion. When Obama and Biden run around the country saying this is all about the "jobs bill" therefore they can use taxpayers money instead of campaign funds, then yes it is wrong.
Now if some one can prove to me that these trips are being paid for with campaign contributions then I won't complain.
DBO, as Feisty said, the right won't like that bit of truth.
sfcret. Taxpayers pay the House to work two weeks, go home for a week and campaign. Do you object to that? There's no difference.
I like Joe, he is often more honest than a politician should be, sometimes his "gaffs" are nothing more than that. Joe is alright, and if he gets into this fight and starts putting himself out there it will help Obama and democrats a lot. It's hard not to like Joe Biden, his family, or how he handled the sad circumstances life dealt him. It is a stark contrast to the likes of Gingrich, and should be appreciated by anyone who really believes in family values. Obama knows how to pick his friends, and a credible VP for the nation.
Well said, Forrest Grump.
Im just glad BHO seems to be sticking with him. About the only chance they had was to shake up the ticket to garner interest.
It will be very hard to garner support for "More of the Same". Makes the GOP job and path to victory that much easier.
ABO 2012
Keeping Biden on is a stroke of genius -- how else to make the incompetent boob at the top look bright?
So thats why McCain picked Palin! Thanks Chucky, I never understood why he would do such a thing until just now.
One would argue...ehemm.."ChuckySchmucky"...that your use of defamatory and derogatory words against the current administration make you the "incompetent boob".
Just saying...
Class now pay attention. We are here to learn our ABC's. It is the most important lesson you will ever learn for our country.
If you love America, if you want a jobs bill, if you believe the 99% have just as much right to be bailed out as the rich wall street bankers the you must vote for Anybody But Conservatives.
It is smart and easy to remember you ABC's.
ABC 2012
Like Feisty says DUH!
Just gonna go on record with it...
Success is the best form of campaigning ever. You hardly need to exert yourself woo-ing crowds when you can point to a string of successes and promises kept to your constituency.
Yes that why we have 8 republicans trying to woo with debate after debate, coming up with 999 ideas, telling everyone they have buisness experience which is best used to govern a country, and showing how much sucess they have had killing people in jail otherwise known as a captive audience. Yes they have all shown just how successful they have been. Something to really be proud of.
I imagine that's why the republicans have been campaigning for over 5 years now.
And Happy B-Day Fiesty!
Thank you Bryan! ;o)
Stop by the party at the Dew Drop Inn on Friday if you can!
bryan e - yes, republican hopefuls can campaign 24/7 and only be constrained by other political obligations (as in bachmann and perry). An incumbant should be able to hang their hat on accomplishments not rhetoric.
Well I tell you what American:
Put dubyas record his first three years right next to Obama's record and lets compare.
Be sure to publish it and show it to the OWS people. We want ALL 2012 voters to know.
Too bad Obama has no successes, no promises kept, and no crowds.
And Stupid, I didnt see where dubya jumped into the race. So why would you compare the records of these two? What purpose?
ABO 2012
YOU are the one making the statement regarding what our President has or has not accomplished.
Are you scared of the comparasons? Are you trying to re-write history to forget the Bush administration? (A lot of us would like to forget it!) What exactly is your problem?
You made the statement; I simply put it in true perspective. You probably don't like that it demonstrates your illogical half-truths and spin, but that is too bad - facts are facts. So go on spouting your partisan b.s., but it will do no good 11/12. VOTERS AREN'T BUYING FROM YOUR SALES PITCH.
Get used to it.
VP Biden is right. They are doing exactly what President Obama said they would do when he addressed the joint session of Congress--if the GOP refuses to act on the proposed jobs bill, he would take it to the people. The GOPTP does not care about the people or the economy, their goal as McConnell said is "to defeat President Obama and make him a one-term president", Party First while allowing the country to collapse.
Naturally, the GOP objects to the idea of campaigning for jobs legislation because within 3 weeks, support for the AJA rose into the 50's. The GOP whines about campaigning because they know they cannot win this fight. They see the Occupy movement and they realize that voters are fed up with dysfunction, gridlock and greed. The American people want the jobs the GOP promised in 2010 if people just elected republicans. To date, there have been ZERO jobs bills brought forth by the House and the Senate filibustered AJA last week but republicans have spent a great deal of time passing limitations on women's reproductive rights (so much for getting government out of people's private lives), English as the official language, voter suppression efforts, and naming post offices.
Thank you President Obama and Vice President Biden for hitting the road and taking the case to the American people. Keep it up.
Jody,
You are delusional if you think Obama cares about you. You make the claim that the GOP doesn't care.... with a secondary meaning that your side does.
ROFL! How old are you?
Brian, the same could be said for any politician, except for Bernie Sanders. :)
I dunno about Bernie Sanders... but you are right about any politician. For anyone on the left to claim that it's only the right that doesn't care, sure has limited vision.
jody - according to CBS news reports, obama want to split out the AJA into pieces. The first piece he wants to go with is retaining public worker jobs. You know, jobs that are the responsibility of state and local government, not federal.
It sure looks like obama doesn't give a shlt about the private sector and the middle class that is hurting. Yepper, the private sector from whom all taxes flow to support government employees and programs.
It's not a jobs bill. It's boob bait for the base, and Barack Obama is lucky to have such loyal sheep like you as eager lemmings.
If this bill had broad support, Democrats in vulnerable states wouldn't be running away from it. And the same Democrats are running away from the Sludge in the streets, the OWS crowd (Occupy the Wallets of Society).
The leftwing sheep are always the last to know.
They were given the greatest political gift by senate republicans at the most opportune time, now why would they not take advantage of that against a party that announced their top priority was to see your failure.....
Republican legislators and candidates, rhetoric and actions continue to add to a growing community of various protesters around the nation, a really good community organizer could unite them and engage them in a more common purpose.
Not to mention the republicans best candidate is a wall street type at a time when they are protesting wall street, I mean it just too lucky, it has the makings of a perfect storm and so far the republicans insist on sailing three sheets to the wind right into it.
Those are real people protesting in the streets of America, how could the president not address their concerns, many are in the protest specifically because of republicans policies across the nation, their tactics for the last three years, and their two pronged attack of cut taxes and cut regulations for everything that ails us. The republicans keep saying what Americans want this, and Americans want that, because they took the House in impressive fashion, but since have refused to address the very issue that put them there. Remember where are the jobs Mr. president, where are the jobs?! Now they proudly, and unanimously stand between Americans and a jobs bill!, so like I said they can start passing some of Obama's bills and help him out (actually just the American people), or they can continue with the same strategy and hand him the election on a silver platter. If they are going to change course they better hurry, or they won't have even left themselves enough time to take any of the credit if any job bills pass, and do ease some tensions.
Yes Forrest,
Please continue to encourage the administration to embrace these protesting buffoons. The American populace is already growing weary of them, and the more they speak, the less real voting Americans like what they are saying.
So please, continue to encourage the adminsitration to embrace their movements. Especially their bowel movements on cop cars.
That would just be the icing on the cake we need.
ABO 2012
See that is the problem right there, it's just like republicans to try and take what everybody else now sees as excrement and still pretend it is delicious icing on a cake.
Brian B, are you dizzy yet from spinning like a top? I'll tell you something, President Obama cares more about this country and its people than any republican legislator does. What have they done to help get us out of the mess THEY CREATED? It's easy to ignore the unfunded spending done by the GOP, the two "charge it to our kids" wars, the unfunded Rx prescription plan that caused financial harm to medicare. The GOP has done nothing, absolutely nothing to right the ship but instead just keep poking holes in it so we'll ALL sink.
little american numbers. Yes, it's going to be in pieces because the GOPTP legislators can't comprehend anything larger than bite size. Those state and local governments cut public jobs because of the economy and because of the GOPTP demand for budget cuts without raising revenues. I suggest you take a refresher class in Econ 101, maybe study what presidents both right and left have always done when in a recession. Ahh, but that's too much to ask, you and those like you would prefer to simply repeat the talking points.
teknishan,
Obama successes so far. Stimulus that saved and created millions of jobs, healthcare overhaul, saved America's automobile industry, Lilly Ledbetter Act, Nuclear treaty with Russia, assisted in ousting dictators. Osama bin ladden dead. Kaddafy, lost power. What has the GOP done in the last 11 years? Illegal wars with hidden funding. Transferred billions in wealth from the middle class to the wealthy 1%. Legislated women's vaginas. Lost millions of jobs. Sent millions more overseas. Voter suppression. Advocated hate towards Hispanics, gays and Muslims.
Any questions?
Ana - do you write fiction for a living?
Brian, I agree. The republicans doing aything good or bad should be considered fiction.
AnaBanana,
The chairman of the St. Joseph County Democratic Party has resigned amid a scandal that reveals hundreds of signatures on petitions for Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton to appear on the state's 2008 primary ballot were faked.
Voter suppression? This is a simple fix, no ID, no vote
Yes, you regurgitate the sheep talking point very well. Thinking for yourself, unfortunately, does not appear to be your strong suit.
thetotas,
of the 10's of millions of people who voted last election, did you know that only 80, that's right less than 100, cases were brought before a court of law? I can't do the math, as i don't have the number of voters, but that percentage is MINUTE. Why are we targeting voter ID's again? Because of rampant voter fraud? Right....
Poor ol Joe BiteMe. Clueless he is supposed to lie like Barry Oblamo about campaigning and stealing taxpayer money to do it.
Oh Darrel, you have a 1/2 track mind. He is campaining for his jobs bill, that is the subject he talks about and the republican response to that bill. A president gets to do that on the american dime. Present his case for his bill. What you do not like is that people are listening to what he has to say. So cry a little louder and maybe someone will hear you.
It's not a jobs bill. Only the completely clueless sheep buy that.
Tis,
so it is only natural then for him to campaign for his jobs bill only in states that are coincidentally battleground states for the next election?
I dont mind. In most states such as these battleground states the people have grown sick of hearing him speak anyway. He is drawing huge crowds, isnt he? Sort of reminds you of when he was drawing huge crowds back when no one knew what a miserable failure he would be doesnt it?The more he speaks in states such as these, the less his chance of success.
ABO 2012
This coming from a guy who calls himself "ChuckSchmucky". Believe him?...Not so much.
Nice job spewing the RNC spin and talking point chucky... you really have their catch phrase of the day down pat -
they and John Birch would be proud of your effort!
Many presidents prior to this one went on "tours" to campaign for their legislative agenda stalled in Congress, and to promote it to the people, but it is only because this one is a Dem do the Repugs scream and cry about it using up tax dollars.
President Bush went on tour to convince voters that privatizing social security was a great idea! The more he touted his plan, the less voters liked it unlike President Obama and VP Biden who have moved voters to support their plan.
People who want the "rich" to pay "their fair share" are math challenged. AP news verified that there are 235,000 millionaires in this country. That's one quarter of one percent of the working population. Yet, they pay a full 20% of all taxes. Now, could one of you geniuses please explain how they are not paying "their fair share"?
Ok Vince I will try to keep this simple for you. If I pay 25% on 50,000.00 that is 12,500. If I pay 15% on 500,000.00 that is 75,000.00 Now I just paid more than 20% in taxes on my 500,000 at 10% less tax rate. Can you see were the burden is now. The guy making 50,000 just paid 25% on his income and the guy making 500,000 just paid 15% so who has the larger burden on their income.
The top 1% of taxpayers pay 38% of all federal income taxes; the top 5% pays 60%; the top 10% pay 70%; the top 25% pays 86% and the top 50% pays 97% of all federal income taxes. The bottom 50% pays less than 3%.
The rich are not only paying far more than their "fair share," they're paying for almost everybody ELSE'S share as well.
These facts don't change no matter which way you hold the mirror.
Chucky you really are a simple person. The tax rate may start at 38% but then you need to take into account all the deductions those making that kind of money can take advantage of plus all the methods they have to hide portions of their income. These shrink their tax burden to less than 18% while someone making 50,000 does not have access to these deductions and pays over 25% on their smaller income. The numbers you have do not show what they pay as a percentage of their true income but only the total dollars which of course should be higher since their incomes are higher. Example. 25% of 50,000. is 12,500. and 15% of 500,000 is 75,000. which number is greater but yet is less percentage of total income.
ChuckySmucky is really in right field because the current highest tax bracket is 35% not 38%. Over 1200 millionaires and billionaires paid ZERO taxes in 2009, the latest year the IRS has full numbers on. The tax bracket one actually pays, especially the richest 1%, not anywhere near what most people pay because of deductions, if they're lucky enough to have something to deduct. The average tax rate for the richest 1% in 2010 was 18% which is a full 17% less than the 35% highest tax bracket. Study up Chucky, the numbers are out there if you just take the time to look them up instead of repeating what the GOP says.
I pose a question for liberal idiots. Please explain the rationale behind banks and businesses wanting to crash the economy and destroy the marketplace? Exactly what would their business plan be for growth and more cash generation in future years? A chain of soup kitchens across the country?
I'm afraid far too many liberals have the simplistic Democratic dysfunctional response that business is just evil and wants all your money, but they don't seem to have an end game for that discussion.
Rascal, GREED! nothing more than that and either very short sighted or extremely smart knowing the government would bail them out because they are to big to fail. So they make tons of money then set up funds to lose get more money from us and then go back to making tons of money on our dime. You do know they are sitting on over 3 trillion dollars of cash in the banks, have you seen the 3rd quarter reports for profits, all are way up so why do you think they did it. GREED and the ability to make even more money.
yep tis, greed is the liberal answer to everything. Dang greedy libs always wanting someone else to pay for unsustainable spending. Too bad they don't like "shared sacrifice", "balanced approach" or "fairness".
American maybe! Greed is not a liberal answer, how much profit is enough profit, If big business are suffering why are their profits so high, and what is this strange concept you bring up "balanced approach" now you want a balance approach or shared sacrifice how fast the table turns. Sorry I can not feel for the Oil industry of the banking industry showing record profits again even during a recession. You are part of the problem in this country and show your own Greed in your response.
Rascal69, if you're going to call liberals idiots then what goes around, comes around. Perhaps conservative idiots would care to explain why businesses continue to support the GOP when all the facts provide evidence that GDP expands (meaning their business expands and profits expand) under democratic administrations. Go head, Rascal, explain it.
Clue: they're greedy and stupid because they keep hoping to get more deregulation and tax cuts from the right even though the evidence tells them they're wrong.
tis - balanced approach, shared sacrifice and fair are all the catch words of obama and company.
Profits are another matter that you don't seem to want to define or quantify. I ask you directly why not? At what % of revenue do profits become obscene or innapropriate, 5%, 8%, 2%, 10%, 16%? If you ever filled out a schedule c or had to meet expenses you shouldn't have any problem in answering.
The current concepts of business are to show the investers a return on their investment, increased market share (or growth) and stability for starters. For the politician it is to be re-elected.
No company profits = no employment = no tax revenues. If you think that is a lie why not ask your local government officials on why they have cut back on government programs. BTW - don't confuse wage scales with profits, they won't equate.
I love the dolts that want to blame Bush....The Dems controlled Congress the last two years of the Bush administration and the first two years of the O-blame-a administration. Those four years of Dem control have put us where we are. Are you better off today than you were three years ago??? Obysmal....worst president ever.
Doug, look up "Fillibuster" on Wikipedia and get back to me.
[The Dems controlled Congress the last two years of the Bush administration and the first two years of the O-blame-a administration.]
Oh God no...not another "democratic super-majority" bull@!$%# post...
...please, God...make it stop!
Hey, all you Liberal Socialist Drones that think you part of the solution instead, you are part of the problem. The difference between a winner and a looser is the winner keeps getting up after being knocked down.
I live in a neighborhood that is over 90% immigrants (first US generation) from Vietnam. It is a newer middle class area. These people came here knowing they could get ahead by working hard (none are Doctors or Attorneys) or by eduction or both. Since none have degrees they all work very very hard and ensure their children do well in school. They are successful, happy, healthy people and FAMILIES not looking for any handouts from the Government. Most are even are taking care of their live-in parents.
So, "Fair Share People" if you want to make something of your life (its never too late) then get up and dust yourself off. If not, some legal immigrant who dreams of being part of the "American Dream" will pass you by!
Finally,
Finally - MSNBC did not mention that 90% of the New Yorkers Poled were DEMS....go figure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
More of the same name calling from the right. Another day in paradise.
You said it Bryan E! I'll just call the right hypocrites.
"If our students suffer, our future suffers,” Biden said, adding, "They are the kite strings that lift our national ambitions aloft."
Amen! Preach on, brother Biden!
But it's not the children they want to rescue -- it's the corrupt, greedy, parasitic unions.
You got it......Like those multi-millionnaire union members of the NBA, NFL, etc!
Gheeze!
berthie, that must explain why after giving schools millions, our k-12 system is still in decline worldwide.
Obama in his 2011 state of the union address told the schools that if they gave obama a plan he would give them the money. Seems that obama should have told the schools, show me results and you will get funding.
The great democrats' lie, $$$ solves all problems. Don't feel to bad, before 2009 and the tea party, republicans also embraced this philosophy.
American, are all schools "in decline"? What does that mean exactly? Test scores? graduation rates?
I agree that just throwing money at schools does not solve all of the problems with education. Money is not always spent in the best way. Also, schools can only do so much to overcome a culture in which too many parents do not encourage their kids to read, learn to play an instrument, do their homework, etc. Too many young people never crack open a book to read for pleasure. Their only reading is Facebook, Twitter, or texts.
However, cutting teachers cannot be a good way to improve education. We've seen classroom crowding, programs being cut, etc. since the Texas legislature decided to slash funding for school districts. We have the money; they just don't want to spend it on our kids--our future.
Bethie, I'll add that many parents of children who do poorly in school are working multiple jobs just to feed and house the family. We cannot expect every child to excel when many come to school without all the tools and advantages that children doing well have, computers for one example.
If one looks at when education began declining, it runs nearly parallel to the years of declining wages for people. It isn't necessarily to schools or the money spent on schools as it is the declining middle class. While poverty and lack of living wages is not the total answer, it must be part of the discussion.
bethie, it means that whatever standards the ranking agencies use puts us in an overall decline compared with other countries.
Like I said, show us the results, we will show you the $$$. I grew up with a class size of 30 -33 students and disruptive class behavior was not allowed, period. You are correct that parents make a difference. Not only did the schools tolerate bad behavior but my parents stood with the schools policy as well.
Jody, you offer excuses for parents to cling to and avoid responsibility.
If Obutthole and his plans are so wonderful why do the presidential polls show little or no support from the citizens of this country? Yesterdays polls showed Herman Cain up by 2 points and every major poll shows him trailing the generic republican candidate?
Furthermore, why are all the democrats in Virginia shunning him during his visit today? Seems to me he is about as popular as an aids patient in a gay bar.
As far as higher taxes is concerned why in hell don't you people get off your ass, get the bones out of your noses, cover your painted skin and get a damn job or take the same risk as buisness owners and invest your money in your own enterprises. ( professional union protester is not a secure future nor a successful endevor i.e. WISCONSIN).
Get a life and get the hell out of m pockets!
Wow how simple all they have to do is go out and get a job, there is one on every street corner who knew, I keep hearing lies how there are no jobs and we are in a recession, we have 9.1 un-employment simply because they are all to lazy to go out and get that job that is just waiting for them. Hey everyone CAIN is right all you have to do is stop complaining and get a job. All your problems will go away. Coporations refuse to hire since their is no demand so go out get a job and create demand what a great idea. Now way did 9.1% of out of work people not think of that.
Homophobe? Or just another republican?
Not a queeraphobe. Just a racist bigot.
As far as jobs I have 2 solutions. Get rid of all the wetbacks you liberals love so much. Seems they have a lot of jobswe could use.
OR...how about we stop funding all welfare, unemployment and other government existance that liberal trash depend on to live. Starvation is the great equalizer. Solves the unemployment problem and at the same time saves me tax dollars.
Tell that to Rick Perry. You have no credibility here.
Right because it's all about you. Nevermind the job market is lopsided with 5+ jobseekers to every 1 job. Why aren't you running for office again? Oh, that's right....
You really believe the day that the corporation I worked for laid off 30 workers due to the economy that they asked if we were republicans or democrats before they laid us off? Then only laid off the liberals.
I am still trying to wrap my head around you ideal of starvation as the answer for our country. So do you intend of putting them in concentration camps to keep them from rioting while you starve them to death? Or will you just gas them to save time and money?
Do you have to be brain-dead to believe the republican propaganda?
For the love of America Obama/Biden 2012
I don't give a damn about you or the rest of the 99% of the leaches in this country. I didn't see you out there investing your life savings on a buisness venture. I didn't get government handouts to feed my family while we worked 16 or more hours a day to get a buisness successful nor do I see you and the liberals in this country interested in anything but how much you can get out of everyone else.
You and the rest of the herd must not be paying any attention to what's happened in the great European socialist experiment. They are going broke faster than a baby mama can download another criminal.
BTW...gas eliminated 6,000,000 in Europe. That's a good start on lowering the unemployment rate and my taxes for welfare.
AND if you know how much it sells for by the gallon I'll be glad to buy the first $10,000 worth....FILLER UP!!!!
And we have lift off. An official member of the 3rd Reich. Nothinge else to be said for the right.
It's truly scary, isn't it, Season? The ugly rhetoric. . .I guess these peeps were perfectly fine with Bush starting two unfunded wars--that didn't waste ANY of their taxpayers' money, did it? I'm sure that these kinds of peeps would prefer to live on an island somewhere with no paved roads, no emergency services, no mail service, no school for his kids, etc. MW actually has a lot in common with the "Occupy" movement--he hates the way others have been "bailed out" by our government. Of course, he's talking about the poor welfare folks, but I think he shouldn't forget to include the corporate welfare recipients in his rant. This group has received disproportionately way more than any individual has. His anger definitely seems misplaced!
Dear Mr. Vice President:
Kite strings do not lift anything aloft. Kite strings in fact tether a kite. Perhaps it is you, Mr. Vice President, who needs some educating.
Yet--how do you fly the kite without them?
Good point, Bethie from Texas! You can't fly one without the other.
Uh, not a good point. Biden's ridiculous comment, like its author, makes no sense. If Palin or Bush said this they would be bbq'ed. And rightly so.
Bless old gaffe-omatic's clueless little heart. So dumb he doesn't even know when to lie.
It's cute in a way.
Unfortunately, the unions are not kite strings, they're lead balloons.
Do lead balloons even exist in this dimension? I'd like to know what their practical purpose would be?
Now its the unions fault and not the lazy people for not having jobs, Ok lets go with that one now. Unions create jobs and hire people right so why are they not hireing so everyone has a job. Oh right they bleed business, schools and governments of money while the businesses, schools and government treat their employees with fairness and not bottom line mentallity. Business are thoughtful and caring towards their employees by offering job security (sending that job overseas), raises to help with cost of living (wages stagnent or sliding backwards), Healthcare ( your sick die). Now we just need to get rid of all unions and the world will right itself and corporations will hire and care for their employees. The world is now golden
I love President Obysmal blaming the Republicans for his jobs bill not passing. He couldn't even get full support in the Senate from his own party. What's this 500 billion dollars going to do that the last 800 billion didn't/couldn't get done???? President Obysmal....Worst President Ever !!
Doug that was 2 repeat 2 democrates that voted no. What an amazing statement you make but even with those two it would not have passed due to a little thing known as a filibuster. What a chopped talking point. Brilliant simply Brilliant.
Talk about speaking half truths, Doug--46 republicans voted NO to block the bill going to the floor for debate. Those 2 democrats could not have filibustered it without a lot of help
Cain is a 100% Black American like MLK not, a 1/2 black pretender raised by a White Marxist / Communist Family such as the POTUS.
"GO HERMAN 2012"
Juan,
Bigoted much?
Bryan,
Shovel Ready
Juan---I think his warts are beginning to show. He's spending money given to him for his campaign on himself. Go Herman, go enrich yourself on all that campaign cash. He and Romney are just about as crooked as they come.
Well duh! They are Republicans and Juan likes that.
Juan, Cain is a 100% black capitalist. What fact do you base your claim that Obama was raised by a Marxist Show us the facts of your statement or is it just a bigoted belief.
Juan,
What does a shovel ready job have anything to do with your racial bigotry?
If Cain is such a 100% real black, then why when he was in college in Atlanta where King and his demonstrators were active, why did Cain stay away? Yes Cain in his own words said he did not want to cause trouble and went to the back of the bus.
Cain was unwilling to fight for his own people which is okay. Just don't make Cain out to be some hero when he wasn't. He was only out for himself then, just like now. Cain doesn't stand for the people now either, he stands for the 1% and only for the 1%.
Yes Cain is black, but to put him the same category as Martin Luther King is a put-down to Reverend King who worked tirelessly for the poor and downtrodden.
Obama was raised mostly by his white grandparents in Hawaii. They were just middel-class, Christian folks who worked hard to get by. His mother had him when she was only 18. He saw his Dad for about 2 months of his life after age 2. Where do you get the Marxist crap? Unbelievable.
Juan, you might want to figure out what your taxes will be under 9-9-9 so it won't come as a total shock when you pay twice as much as you do now.
..
Hey thetotas, Say have you gone to a union meeting yet, please do, because you need them and they need you, jump in, make it better if you can.
Liberals are nothing short of amazing in their dogged determination to be shills for Obama and the leftist Democrats.
They act like Obama is just an "innocent bystander" rather than *the* guy in the White House for the last three years -- TWO YEARS of which he had a supermajority legislature. Liberal "useful idiots" act as if the Democrats didn't control BOTH HOUSES of congress for 48 of the last 58 months.
When it comes to the useful idiots, clearly the lights are on but nobody's home. Like the Stepford Wives or something.
Conservatives are nothing short of amazing in their dogged determination to be shills for Koch Brothers (Americans for Prosperty backers of the Tea Party) and the other big businesses who run this country.
Shovel Ready??????????????????
You go JUAN....the only thing worse than half black is allowing half black to breed. Just generates more hybrids. AND damn right I'm a bigoted racist. 57 years of great society, welfare queens, gay rights and liberals tends to make one despise the "less fortunate".
MightywhiteE---A proud racist? You should be banned from here and from the UNITED STATES you ignorant bastard!
And you are a what? Proud leach on the ass of humanity...liberals...damn them all
My guess is that "mightywhiteE" is a paid shill for the Msnbc STATE RUN media. Otherwise, they would DELETE these nasty racist comments. They are ginning up hatred by using racist comments on this blog. SHAME ON MSNBC. ( you gave yourselves away with the comment "despise the less fortunate."
Leona, so a poster comes on FR and spouts racist garbage and you blame MSNBC by claiming the admitted racist poster is paid by the media? Thought I had read or heard just about every conservative distortion possible but Leona, you proved there's always more.
Further evidence of what happens when she goes off her meds... lol
Her paranoia runs deep & into her soul it will seep...
There's a reason she's known around here as; Loony Leona! ;o)
Feisty: "There's a reason she's known around here as; Loony Leona! ;o)"
hey Feisty, Unfortunately, we are not allowed to print the things you are known for.
Furthermore, "paranoia" has nothing to do with my disdain for nasty racial comments which are left up by Msnbc in order to inflame racism in people. We all know these things are done. Who are you fooling with the garbage you spew every day?
In other words... Are we breaking campaign laws? YES, but LAWS do not apply to Obama ! He is Der Fuhrer ! National Socialism triumphs again.
