Subscribe to RSSNEW YORK -- Michele Bachmann is pushing back against reports that her presidential campaign staff in New Hampshire has quit.
The New Hampshire television station WMUR was first to report today that Bachmann's paid staff in the Granite State had left the campaign. According to WMUR, the staff was disappointed Bachmann was not more committed to winning the New Hampshire primary.
But this afternoon, in a telephone interview with Radio Iowa, Bachmann called the report "a shocking story."
"We have called staff in New Hampshire to find out where that came from, and the staff have said that isn't true," Bachmann said. "I don't know if this is a just a bad story that's being fed by a different candidate or campaign."
Bachmann added that the story is "certainly not true."
NBC has not confirmed the report.
Bachmann most recently visited New Hampshire for campaign events on Oct. 9 and Oct. 10; her last visit before then was on June 28.
*** UPDATE *** Bachmann campaign manager Keith Nahigian has issued this statement: "We have a great team in New Hampshire and we have not been notified that anyone is leaving the campaign. We look forward to spending more time in the Granite State between now and the primary, but our campaign has emphasized that our main focus is the first-in-the-nation caucus state of Iowa and we are continuing to build efforts there. While she will campaign in other states, Michele will spend the majority of her time in Iowa, doing what she does better than all the other candidates - retail politics - leading up to the all important caucuses."

They haven't quit. They are just using the Sarah Palin strategy that they can do more good from outside "the system". In this case it mean they can work for and support someone who has a chance of actually winning.

The serious truth is that Michele Bachmann, along with most on the right, are living in a conservative bubble...almost an alternate reality. I know these people...they're friends of mine...but they have all been essentially (I hesitate to use this word because it is so strong) brainwashed. They listen to Rush, Fox, Hannity, Palin, O'Reilly, Fox n' Friends, et al and get a non-stop stew of the conservative, anti-Obama talking points...often identical to the talking points put out by the GOP.
It is a remarkable and disturbing turn of events in America, in my opinion, that Roger Ailes and others have built a media distribution system that is completely one sided. Proverbs says "The first to present his case SEEMS RIGHT,....until another comes forward to question him". This group only hears one side of the story. Plus, it is always anti-Obama, which then seeps into the mainstream.
For example, when Ghaffey (sp?) was killed yesterday, I turned to Fox, thinking "I wonder how they will twist this into something against Obama?". They did! First it was Rubio, criticizing Obama for not getting into Libya earlier and how it caused so many deaths, yada yada. Now it's McCain and a host of others giving credit to England and France! (who deserve some credit, yes) But they COMPLETELY left Obama off of the list of those who should be thanked.

Golly, lets have another round of Obama, we need him. We need more corporate cronyism, more taxpayer monies going to shore up the companies who contributed to him. We need more Immelt and GE and Goldman Sachs players to further syphon off taxpayer money. We need him to sign more 'free trade' agreements to send more jobs overseas, interesting how quiet this most recent signing was, guess he didn't want to call attention to the fact that he wrote in an amendment that insured that unions who would lose jobs because of this would be compensated at taxpayer expense.
We need him to go after those 'rich' people's money as compensation because he is giving half a billion away to a company that will build electric cars in Finland, a company with serious ties to Al Gore and we know how poor old Al is. We need him to pay millions to Mexican truckers so they can take away jobs from American truckers. We need him to ignore any attempts to remove Quadaffi peacefully (remember when Quadaffi made some serious peace overtures and Obama told him to p!ss off?)We need him to further loan billions to unvetted 'green energy' companies like Solyndra, companies he knew were a tad shaky, but hey, the company owners bundled vast amounts for his last campaign and the photo op was too good to pass up.
Yes those republicans are bad...and Obama is far worse. Frankly, we don't have a candidate on the horizon with a half-baked brain that the media will allow to exist with the exception that they will promote Obama, regardless of how crooked and Bushlike he has proven himself to be.
I wonder how long it will take before she denies her own existence. The rest of the political world seems to have, from the looks of her poll numbers.

Despite rhetorical statements from the pundits, especially from the Republicans, President Obama will be reelected on the merit. The Republicans have a serious problem: they don't have a serious candidate that can beat President Obama. The President is just waiting for the official nomination of any crook from that pile to start his campain on issues that matter. They don't want him because of his family background; there is no other reason. Anyway, he will be reelected with my vote, and I'll make sure to go door to door to make people vote for him. And this is the only battle I want to win in my community. And we will win!
Obama will be reelected, but it will not be based on merit. Obama will be reelected solely because the GOP does not have a single credible candidate.
If I were a candidate in this election, I would consider a vow of silence to be a good campaign move, as every single person running simply sounds stupid whenever they open their mouths.

As a NH boy, now living in the Hell hole known as Floriduh, I respect the NH republicans. I am a liberal democrat, but have always gotten along very well with my Republican neighbors. Good people. Conservatives I have always admired. Good, strong, reasonable people.
While we all believe "live free or die" it's a good balance. These are not "tea party" crazies.

If the Bachmann staff works very, very hard and spends lots of money (that she does not have) they have an outside shot at raising her from 3% of the NH vote to 4%.
Robert: You do realize that Obama reappointed all the men who were the cause of the financial collapse, don't you? Take a gander at the NH senator, democrat Bernie Sanders, go to his website. There is an interesting article about the collusions and downright criminality that happened with the Federal Reserve, Goldamn Sachs CEO and Jeffrey Immelt, Obama's jobs czar. Guess it is hard to see the forest for all those pesky trees that keep getting in the way.

As to OWS, seems most of them have ignored or are unaware of Obama's actions, since they still support him.

Year ago our neighbors across the street were good "Christians" --- both of the graduated from Liberty Baptist -- Falwell's place. Actually she said she is subservient to her husband, and his word is law for her. Therefore, if she were elected President, he would have final say over all the decisions she needs to make. This makes "leaving him out of it" impossible.

However, what is wrong with news organizations these days? In an effort to be the first with a story or to have breaking news, they consistently put out totally inaccurate or wrong stories.
No wonder so many people are confused because with the constant 24 hour news cycle, your news now will be different from the news a few hours from now and when you try to discuss this with people who only had read one of the earlier stories, they still think it is accurate.
I really wish we could hold news organizations accountable for inaccurate stories.
How hard is it to call up the office yourself and verify a story or a source before just putting a fake article out there?

MORAL: some outfits have excellent reasons to run with a story. some can't explain what a story is. in the end, you have to know which news outfits are generally reliable, and which aren't. there IS a difference, even on the Internet. it would appear that the station breaking this story had inside information from one of the departees, which if there is any corraborating data to be had, is a pretty good scoop.
Holding a news organization accountable is in no way limiting freedom of the press.
I provide a fictitious example to make a point: If a news organization reported that some deadly virus was released in a major city, based on unsubstantiated reports, then they may cause widespread panic and should be help accountable for inducing a panic should the story turn out to be not true or speculation. This is the whole idea of yelling why one should not yell Fire in a crowded theater even though we have Freedom of Speech. It is more common sense.
If a news organization slanders or libels an individual or organization, they should also be held accountable. Like if they report that a company did something, then the company loses all of it's customers and goes bankrupt, only to find out that it was reported incorrectly....like saying a company is included in some product recall when it is not. Or, if a new outlet influences an election by announcing the winner before the polls close in a too-close to call election which may influence people to stay home thinking the election is over.
I do not know how they would be held accountable. And you cannot always argue that we should err on the side of Freedom of the Press because sometimes the press can do a lot of damage (which is why there are laws for libel and slander).
I would like to see a voluntary rating system on news stories by all news organizations...
This would entail a small dot next to the title of the article (or some other obvious indicator).
If there is a red dot: The news story just broke but the results are not confirmed.
If there is a yellow dot: The story appears plausible with multiple reports, yet the sources have not yet been verified.
If there is a green dot: The article is considered factual to the best of the new's organizations knowledge.
Oh, and as far as which news organizations are reliable...that is much harder to discern with internet reporting. On many news sites, articles are just copied and pasted with a reference to The Associated Press. No longer do we have news papers with morning, noon, and evening editions...no longer does someone in the news business have to say "Stop the Press" and reprint breaking news into a story. They just update the article, keeping the title the same, the comments the same, and pretend they did not get anything wrong.

Then when challenged on her lies and/or inaccuracies, she claims everything she says it true because she says it is.
There is not one word she utters that anyone but her loyal base of idiots believes anymore and she is too stupid to see that. She also refuses to see that she has no hope of winning the nomination...and only continues to make a fool of herself and questioning her fitness for the job she already has. Which is none.

From other sources, it looks like they did quit. Which would be worse, that she didn't know that they had quit, or that she knew and lied about it? (or knew and just is living in an alternate reality and can't accept it?)
