One year out: NBC’s battleground map, which shows the presidential race is shaping up to be VERY competitive… One year out: new NBC/WSJ poll is released at 6:30 pm ET… Previewing tomorrow’s 2011 contests in Ohio, Virginia, Kentucky, and Mississippi… Cain’s holding up (so far)… But Republicans (not the news media) aren’t letting the story go away… Cain to reporters: “Don’t even go there”… Romney’s day in Iowa… And Newt’s selling another book.
*** One year out: A year out from Election Day 2012, NBC’s battleground map shows that the presidential contest is shaping up to be VERY competitive and potentially VERY close; think 2004 meets 2000, with the 2008 states. According to the map, 196 electoral votes are in the Democratic column, while 195 are in the GOP column. And 147 electoral votes are considered a toss-up. The map also shows the toll the past summer took on President Obama: In April, it was 232 Dem, 191 GOP, with 115 toss-up. The big changes from April (and they’re all in the GOP’s direction): We moved Oregon from Likely Dem to Lean Dem; Michigan and Pennsylvania from Lean Dem to Toss-up; New Hampshire from Toss-up to Lean GOP; and Montana from Lean GOP to Likely GOP. A reminder: We do not always use just survey data to assess a state’s competitiveness; and we don’t always rely on publicly available data. The map, below, is based on our own reporting with input based on poll numbers we trust, some of those numbers are public but some are not.
Solid Dem (no chance at flip): DC, DE, HI, MD, MA, NY, RI, VT (67 electoral votes)
Likely Dem (takes a landslide to flip): CA, CT, IL, ME, WA (98)
Lean Dem: MN, NJ, OR (31)
Toss-up: CO, FL, IA, MI, NV, NM, NC, OH, PA, VA, WI (147)
Lean GOP: AZ, GA, MO, NE (one EV), NH (42)
Likely GOP (takes a landslide to flip): AL, AR, IN, LA, MS, MT, NE (four EVs), ND, SC, SD, TX (100)
Solid GOP (no chance at flip): AK, ID, KS, KY, OK, TN, UT, WV, WY (53)
*** This goes to 11: By the way, the 11 toss-up states fit nicely into three regions: the five in the Midwest/Rust Belt (IA, MI, OH, PA, WI), three in the New South (FL, NC, VA), and three in the West (CO, NV, NM).

msnbc.com
*** One year out, Part 2: The polls: To mark the one-year-out point in the presidential contest, we’re releasing a new NBC/WSJ poll tonight at 6:30 pm ET. How do voters view Obama? The economy and nation’s direction? The Republican field? And the sexual-harassment allegations against Herman Cain? For the answers, be sure to tune into NBC “Nightly News,” or click on to MSNBC.com. By the way, Washington Post/ABC came out with its poll on Sunday, and it showed the president’s approval rating at 44%; Obama leading Romney by three points (48%-45%); Obama leading Cain by five (50%-45%); and Obama leading Perry by eight (51%-43%).
*** Cain’s holding up (so far): Herman Cain’s campaign is continuing to hold up a week after the sexual-harassment allegations first surfaced. In addition to the Washington Post/ABC poll (which showed a majority of GOP voters saying that the allegations aren’t a serious matter), Cain received rock-star treatment at the Americans for Prosperity summit (where he declared he’s the “Koch brothers’ brother from another mother”).
*** But Republicans -- not the news media -- aren’t letting the Cain story go away: But fellow Republicans aren’t letting the sexual-harassment allegations against Cain go away. “[I]t's up to Herman Cain to get the information out and get it out in total,” Jon Huntsman said on “Meet the Press” yesterday. “Legitimate questions have been raised, and that information has to come forward.” Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour added on the program, “I'm not one of the people that thinks this is necessary fatal; this may not hurt him at all. But people need to know what the facts are. And that's the challenge for him right now, to get those out as quickly as possible, get it behind him.”
*** Cain: “Don’t even go there”: Yet Cain doesn’t want to talk about it anymore: After his debate with Newt Gingrich on Saturday, Cain took questions from reporters during a press conference, NBC’s Andrew Rafferty reported over the weekend. But one subject was off limits. "Don't even go there," Cain told a reporter who began asking about the harassment allegations. Cain then asked his chief of staff, Mark Block, to deliver the reporter a copy of the "journalistic code of ethics." Later, a reporter asked Cain, "Are you not going to answer questions about this ever again?" With a grin, he responded: “You got it.” Cain went on to add, "We are getting back on message, end of story.”

AP
Republican presidential candidate former Gov. Mitt Romney at the American Dream Summit in Washington, DC, Nov. 4, 2011.
*** Romney’s day in Iowa: Today, per NBC’s Garrett Haake and Alex Moe, Mitt Romney makes just his fourth trip to Iowa this year -- and only his second one since August. He visits Dubuque at 1:15 pm ET and Davenport at 6:20 pm ET. Now less than two months before the caucuses, the last remaining piece of the primary puzzle is whether Romney makes a clear play for the Hawkeye State. So far, he’s tried to have Iowa both ways: He’s dipped his toes into the waters, but hasn’t jumped in just yet. But with polls showing him in the lead there (or in the co-lead), and with his campaign using tele-town halls to whack Perry in the state, Romney is beginning to approach the point of no return where he’s fully engaged in Iowa.
*** Newt’s selling another book: By the way, Newt Gingrich might be getting a second look from Republican voters, at least according to the Beltway CW. But how is he using it? He went on “TODAY” this morning to promote his new book, “Battle of the Crater.” He’s got to shake this “he’s running to promote his side businesses” narrative if he’s going to get any new traction. Then again, the book tour isn’t hurting Cain -- at least not yet…
*** On the 2012 trail: Besides Romney’s stops in the Hawkeye State, Bachmann addresses the Family Research Council in DC… Santorum campaigns in New Hampshire… And Cain appears on “Jimmy Kimmel.”
*** Monday’s “Daily Rundown” line-up: Former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) on his presidential bid… DNC spokesman Brad Woodhouse and RNC spokesman Sean Spicer square off with one year to go until Election Day 2012… Prof. Kathleen Hall Jamieson of the University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg Public Policy Center previews the launch of FlackCheck.org… And more 2012 news with Bloomberg Businessweek’s Josh Green, former Obama White House Deputy Communications Director Jen Psaki and former RNC Chairman Michael Steele.
*** Monday’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports” line-up: NBC’s Andrea Mitchell interviews the Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza, Politico’s Jonathan Martin, the New York Times’ Nick Confessore, the Center for American Progress’ Neera Tanden, the Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg, CNBC’s Jim Cramer, and Dem Rep. Carolyn Maloney.
*** Monday’s “News Nation with Tamron Hall” line-up: Rep. Donald Payne will be joining Tamron today on “News Nation” to talk about the union battle in Ohio.
Countdown to Election Day 2011: 1 day

Just when you think the Teapubican’s couldn’t get any more bizarre, along comes this…
The social conservative advocacy nonprofit; The Family Research Council awarded IL’s very own deadbeat daddy Joe Walsh a 100 percent rating as a “True Blue” member of Congress.
The reasoning behind this honor?
Walsh’s “unwavering support of the family”
ARE YOU KIDDING ME????
Walsh currently owes OVER $117,000 in back child support! Joe is pulling in $176K a year as a Congressman for working approximately 9 days a month and still REFUSES to support his children!
If this isn’t a GLARING example of the hypocrisy amidst the family values freaks, I don’t know what is!
Then again, let’s consider the source;
ABR = Anyone but Romney 2012! lol

Feisty Redhead Roselle, IL
Good Morning Feisty, Thanks for exposing the hypocrisy and LIES of the RWNJs & Joe Walsh. I think Herman Cain's Sex, Lies, and Politics is noteworthy too.
Voter Suppression to Issue 2 in Ohio Is Real.
What is true is not all voter ID laws are created equal. Some require voter ID be shown, but allow for the voter to vote a provisional ballot in the absence of ID (FL), or sign a sworn affidavit in the presence of election officials if no ID is produced (AL). Spend some time studying the nifty interactive MAP at the National Conference of State Legislatures site and learn for yourself that these laws aren’t as draconian as some in the media suggest. Plus even though many Bills were submitted, very few actually passed. Some have been held over to 2012, but in Montana the Bill that was passed was vetoed. Even West Virginia couldn’t get a Voter ID law on the books. It’s ugly out there, I’m not denying it, but I’m also seeing that in some ways this fight is as much about what constitutes an ID as it is about making it harder to vote. I agree that in many areas this is flat out racism at its core and we definitely need the help of the Department of Justice to mitigate some of the effects of these laws as enacted. The two most obvious examples of this are in Texas and South Carolina. In both cases, the laws have come under the purview of the DOJ for reasons better documented elsewhere.
One of the keys to helping us stay rational in all this will be learning the laws in the States where Obama won in 2008. Some of the States with Electoral importance have yet to codify their Voter ID laws. I take heart in that the laws that have been passed have been watered down, and I no longer feel helpless about this process. It’s only voter suppression if we allow it to be.
It comes down to this: Education, Education, Education. Frankly that’s what it was in 2008, too. Because the Obama campaign had a laser focus on voter regfocus on voter registration, it brought huge numbers of new people into the voting universe who were not there before. Even people who were already registered to vote required a great deal of education, especially in the caucus states. People who had never caucused before, myself included, swelled the ranks in support of candidate Obama. It will be much harder this time; there is no way around that. This challenge is doable. We can win this. Voter registration is the key. As long as we stay focused on helping people comply with the voting laws of the State where they live and wish to vote, and don’t allow the hand-wringers to paralyze us with their angst about ‘voter suppression’, we will prevail. Of this I am completely confident.

I suppose you are flummoxed as to how does this relate to your response? In OHIO early voting has been eliminated a method of voter suppression.
These include: cutbacks in the days available for pre-Election Day voting, making it harder to assist voters with registration, eliminating Election Day registration and requiring proof of citizenship to either register or vote
Early voting: U.S. elections are traditionally held on Tuesdays — an obstacle for many low-income working people, few of whom are given time off to vote. So 33 states and the District of Columbia now allow early voting — including on Saturday and Sunday. Many Americans, particularly minorities, have taken advantage of this.

Here's the bottom line-- RepubliCONS are using these Draconian laws as voter suppression as well hoping voter apathy will prevail. Thief and dirty tricks is the intent of the right wing straight out of the Karl Rove play book aided and and abated by the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) & the shadowy, spooky, Koch brothers.

From Politico:
Ex-Pelosi aide's turnabout work
By: Matt DoBias
November 6, 2011 06:59 PM EST
Even by the revolving-door standards of Washington, this one has heads spinning: The Democratic staffer who was Nancy Pelosi’s messaging guru during the health care debate is now working for a group led by the law’s most powerful opponents.
Brendan Daly left his job as Pelosi’s communications director in December and took a job as executive vice president and national director for public affairs at Ogilvy Washington, where he’s now representing a group called the Essential Health Benefits Coalition.
Daly says he hasn’t switched sides. The Essential Health Benefits Coalition, he says, is simply trying to make the law more affordable — which is critical to making sure the law is a success.
But the group’s members include a veritable who’s who of reform-law opponents:
• The National Federation of Independent Businesses, a named plaintiff in one of the four challenges to the health care reform law pending before the Supreme Court
• America’s Health Insurance Plans, which spent more than $86 million to fight the overhaul in 2009
• And the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which got the $86 million from the health insurers and used it to pay for ads and other activities to oppose the overhaul, according to a Bloomberg report
Daly is hardly the first Capitol Hill staffer to find lucrative work representing clients he once fought, but observers say his switch is one of the most dramatic they can remember.
Cain says "DON'T GO THERE". Who the he!! does he think he is? The clown wants to be the President of the United States of America, but we have NO right to ask him questions. That's Dictator thinking. The media and the people won't let this one go and they shouldn't.
Cain, answer the questions or get off the stage.
Obama in 2012.
That's what I would like to know!
Anyone else remember 2008 with then candidate Obama & the MSM drumbeat about coming across as an 'angry' black man?
Fast forward 4 years & the SAME MSM are reporting Hermie's temper as 'free spirited...
What a crock of crap!
ABR = Anyone but Romney!
PS: Good Morning Bev - deadbeat daddy Walsh is TOAST in 2012! ;o)
@ Feisty --
Why are you so surprised about the Joe Wilson thing?
You know it's all about ideological purity and sloganism.
As Newt Gingrich actually said, when confronted with his own little scandal, "do as I say, not as I do."
Somewhere along the line they confused that with the Golden Rule, "do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
And that explains a lot, actually.
See what I mean?
@ Joe --
Ah. I see you've finally realized that you can't defend these goons. ;-)
FL, NV, NC, PA, VA, OH are red states that flipped to blue in 2008. The rest are blue states no more. It is over. The fat lady is warming up. The super committee will make a deal. Obama can't run against a do-nothing Congress and gets the boot in 2012. Cue the credits.
Yes, that's right. Let's bring down the country economically. Remember, Clinton and his administration voted in the mandates that made banks give home loans to unqualified buyers and repealed Glass Steagall. Yes and Freddie and Fannie want another 6 billion with a B. That brings the total to around $200 billion and their bosses got $13 million in bonuses for losing that much money. Way to go obama!
Saw recently where the ‘fat cats’ of Wall St actually got fatter under Obama than under Bush. Also saw the rich got even richer the last 3 years. Seems all that ‘socialism’ of the past 3 years is making SOMEONE happy, huh?
Say there, Smiff, Me First Bill, No Jo, Spanky- can you all help shed some light on this? I’m evidently running a little slow today….
Feisty, goes to show you that in the world of obsessive focus on social issues, family values only applies to votes and not personal actions. What a joke Tony Perkins made of himself and his so-called family values group.
California Tom, agree, Cain must answer the questions. Amazing how the right rallies around sexual harassment as if it only matters when it's democrats.
RWNJs are flummoxed to Herman Cain "high tech lynching". That is so utterly untrue. First of all, Cain is not being lynched he is at the top of the polls. I find it ironic the RWNJs scream racism when it is their area of expertise.
For the record, nobody on the left called Cain's transgressions "high tech lynching" or one of our Blacks
AS far as OWS GOES BILL' O & the lying FOX NOISE ECHO CHAMBER would have portrayed the civil rights movement as a bunch of dirty, sticky, homeless anarchists.
For all RWNJs here are pictures of what an actual lynching looks like:

If anything cain should complain having to sing negro spitual
He's a socialist, a progressive, a conservative, a Marxist, he leads from behind, he's a serial apologist, and he's the most divisive President in history. President Obama makes it look as though Sybil's biggest problem was applying her makeup.
Labels just don't cut it these days - never did, really. Labels aren't much more than a shortcut to stupidity. The majority of people who call themselves Republicans are NOT Republicans. They're RINO's. True Republicans belong to the Party of Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln, now there was a divisive President, probably the most divisive President in the history of this nation. This was the man who took this country into the deadliest war we have ever fought; brother against brother, father against son, family against family. That is divisive. And the President who prevailed in the fight to preserve the union - The United States - is remembered as the man who made The Party of Lincoln, not the most divisive President in history.
During that terrible and destructive war, he issued that Emancipation Proclamation, the document that made it possible for Barack Obama to become President. President Obama, the man who now leads the United States, who presents proposal after proposal to a "Republican"-controlled House is rebuffed time and time again. The President who tries to bring sides TOGETHER is rebuffed constantly.
Over and over and over, with depressing regularity, he offers compromise. He takes "Republican" proposals to "Republicans", and their twisted "leaders" shoot them down, over and over and over. "Republican" leaders have a single mission, the defeat of President Obama. Nothing else. THAT is divisive.
"Republican" leaders like John Boehner can stand up, look the American people in the eye, and tell us that Grover Norquist is just "a random person". John Boehner signed the "Norquist Pledge". Fellow random persons, why don't you just walk into Boehner's office and ask him to sign a pledge?
These are the same Republican "leaders" who tell us repeatedly that government is the enemy. Yet, Boehner, McConnell, Cantor, Pence, DeMint and so many more "Republicans", just like them, have been drawing government paychecks the entire time we have watched our national debt skyrocket. During that entire time, they have had the power to check that spending, but it wasn't until President Obama took office that they suddenly had their epiphany.
Republicans, the Party of Lincoln, the party that fought to preserve the union? Not in this universe. NO! Their "leaders" and every single one of their Presidential candidates promises, guarantees the destruction of the union. They drive a wedge into the American citizenry at every opportunity. They promote civil war and that is not hyperbole. That is fact. The policies they promote can lead to nothing EXCEPT the destruction of the union.
Republicans, TRUE Republicans, those who proudly belong to the PARTY OF LINCOLN......Take your party back.
Trust me Anna Molly - nothing surprises anymore me with the family values freaks...
Astonished is more like it! ;o)
I see even the Washington Post has now realized that Public Sector Pensions are unsustainable.
www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/pension-pain/2011/11/03/gIQAlYWctM_story.html
And in California where Governor Brown has actually proposed a 401(k) alternative.
Add to this the fact that 10,000 people are retiring daily and any logical person can see that SS/Medicare are not going to be "saved" by taxing the rich "a little more".
It will be interesting to see what candidate in 2012 is willing to tell Americans the truth about the depth of the financial crisis in government at all levels, and explains that tax increases AND painful cuts are necessary.
At least we can depend on the Super Committee to solve all the problems.
And that's why I never liked the Super Committee.
But tell me -- was this part of the 98 percent of what he wanted that Boehner got, or the 2 percent that he didn't?
Not bad David, you contradict yourself in two sentences.
But Republicans -- not the news media -- aren’t letting the Cain story go away
I hope that all the people blaming the media and others read the news this morning. -Including Herman Cain- that is bringing the race card in desperation.
Feisty and Joe WALSH (not Wilson anomaly, now use the it's hard to keep the scumbags straight l,ine you and your gang always use)) = desperation.
A week of beating down on Cain and you all got no where. 93 stories in Politico, 2 dozen here at FR and he is still standing.
The media did not create Herman Cain. The media can not tear him down.
It was fun to sit back and watch you all twist in the wind last week.
"Lift the Gag order!" you all screamed. They did, called their bluff, and everyone clammed up.
Simply hilarious.
BTE FR, California is "leaning" Democrat? Really?
The lead article talks about how close the race for president will be one year out. The libbies here don't want to talk about that. Why? probably because they don't have a viable candidate. The republicans haven't even got to the point of nominating a candidate and the race will be close? I told you lefties to get out there and find a viable candidate months ago, you didn't listen. Good luck.
1/20/2013 the end of an error
Sorry, couldn't finish the sentence above. If anything Cain should complain having to sing Negro spirituals without his banjo.
Cain is a caricature and liar unfit to be President. Even FOX Noise thinks so.
http://www.mediaite.com/tv/bill-kristol-cain-is-not-going-to-be-the-nominee-he-was-never-going-to-be/
Why is FOX NOISE, Bill Kristol, Karl Rove, and Juan Williams not supporting Cain?
We do know Bill Kristol is always on FOX NOISE and always wrong. Think: Sarah Palin. Some how in this case I think Kristol is correct for once
Don't forget and Krathammer's crap
Joe In Albany -- Article on Jack Abramoff. The ex K Street lobbyist. He was on 60 Minutes last night explaining how lobbyists control Congress. Indeed he had control over 100 members of Congress while working there. He explained how he actually changed laws by having changes written and inserted to serve his business clients. Interesting segment and the article below highlights his take on things. Including how reforms have done little to nothing to change lobbyists influence and control.

@ White Collar Auto --
What was that you just called me? ;-)
LoL Why should I when you just did it for me? It's VERY hard.
Seems to me the desperation in that is all on your side.
You don't want to be associated with either of these scumbags so you try to blame them on us.
Anomaly, I am, and don't you forget it.
Fisty had nothing to say today so she went into the minutia to pull that one out.
Solyndra - taxpayers take a back seat, Obama in bed with the bundlers from Solyndra, hmm. Howmuch kickback will we find?
Fast and Furious cost an American officer his life. Obama's gun running will come home to roost.
No comment from the Leftists....
Feisty Redhead:
Ah, but they didn't say WHICH family. Clearly it's not Welsh's own family. It must be some other family. Maybe the Koch family?
Good going there, Alan. NEVER, NEVER address the issue. Deflect, divert, ignore!
The RINO appellation is accurate in every respect. It clearly says what they are NOT! There is no attempt to pretend they have a single point of view or that they march to the same tune. All you have done is to shine a light on the fact that if the RINO's share a commonality it is this: THEY HAVE NOTHING.
David Walker......excellent post. I too, wonder about these so called Republicans who get upset when it is pointed out how their party has changed, and is rampant with, bigotry, racism and hate. We are not all like that, I'm told, or I need to get out more, or there are similar people of both sides, well then why are those so called moderates, not speaking out?
Silence assumes assent. Show me you will fight for your principles, show me that you are not in agreement with those running your party and show me it is not OK to send out emails showing the President with a bullet hole in his head as happened recently in Virginia and no national outcry.
Sure, let's talk about the Supercommittee. Republicans have been stating that they're going to make sure the sequester provision never kicks in. They're going to make sure there are no tax increases. They're going to make sure there are no defense cuts. They're going to make sure there's no reduction in corporate welfare.
How are they going to accomplish all that?
Some of them have said they're going to vote to overturn the sequester provision if necessary. That would be the ultimate failure of Republican policy...turning their backs on something they forced and voted for only MONTHS ago.
But it's not a label? You talk about deflect, divert ignore. Your whole post is that. You don't want to address the current administration policies by focusing on the opposition to take back their party? That's all the Democrats have right now. We're bad but the other guys are worse.
You really think it's not hard to write up the same argument for today's Democrats? You think Nancy Pelosi is in the same space as Tip O'Neil? I think Steny Hoyer is a mainstream Democrat of days gone by but Chris Van Hollens is an out-and-out partisan, and don't even mention Debbie Wasserman Schultz. You think Harry Reid, Dick Durban and Charels Schummer can hold a candle to Daniel Patrick Moynahan?
How about you forget the labels, those that come after the name, and focus on the legislators? As I have said I support senators like Gillibrand and Webb, Coburn and Crocker.
Feisty, et al
It should obvious to all by now that the GOP do not care anything about sexual harassment, non-payment of child support, or the welfare of children in general. These are "social issues" dealing with fair treatment and human dignity. Something the GOP regard as the personal responsibility of the individual or their legal guardians, not society.
The GOP do not believe they are their brother's keeper.
The GOP do care if you are a Christian.
The GOP do care about the color of your skin.
The GOP do care about the poor knowing their place and staying there. (Cheap Labor)
The GOP do care about the middle class eroding into poverty. (More Cheap Labor)
The GOP do care about the rich getting richer.
The GOP is all about saying one thing and doing something is.
"We uphold the Constitution!" and then violate it chapter and verse.
"We believe in the Bible and Jesus Christ" and then violate the ten commandments and disregard the teachings of their messiah.
If their lips are moving, they are lying, OK? Nuff said.
Now today's topic. The polls discussed above do not mean anything this far out and they are even less valuable if they didn't "normalize" the results without a head-to-head comparison of the candidates.
I would bet we'd see some dramatic changes, especially in the "soft" support states if you asked the question, "And now, thinking about the election, in a contest between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney who would you vote for? Obama vs Perry? Obama vs Cain?" Without that direct comparison the numbers don't mean jack.
Oh, and the MSNBC headline about "racism" in the race. The allegations against Mr. Cain are not racial, unless of course you believe that all black men are sexual animals incapable of controlling their sexual appetites. (Return with me now to those thrilling days of the 19th century) Mr. Cain's race has NOTHING to do with the issues regarding the sexual harassment complaints or his over-fondness for the Koch Brothers or his inattention to the details of foreign policy. But those ISSUES have everything to do with his ability to be the President of the United States or represent WE THE PEOPLE.

How 'bout those Robber Barons on Wall Street you so idolize who will not share the American Pie with you?
Nancy unlike the KochCLOWNS doesn't speak softly with her wallet. She does support a J-O-B-S BILL. Those RepublicanClowns in the House suck off the teat of the tax payers and do nothing to earn it except take time off and stall, and stall, to wreck the economy.
Where are the jobs Republican promised?

It's been 305 days since Republican John Boehnor took the gavel and there have been zero (0), nada, zilch, J-O-B-S.
Instead the RepublicanClowns are focused on right wing cultist bills that is supposed to remind us of the motto "In God We Trust" is the national motto and not "E Pluribus Unum." "God" is very important to the RepublicanClown hypocrites. The RepublicanClowns care nothing about unemployment, cuts to education/police/fire personnel due to budget constraints, a widening income inequality, and foreclosures. Jesus fed the hungry.
How many times much I post the link below for you to get it?
http://whenarethejobs.com/
You can bet the American people are sick and tired of Republican and blue dog gridlock. No matter how many dumb links you post, overall the American people are behind the President when it comes to J-O-B-S creation and no tax cuts for the rich!!!
If you must LOL, laugh at what a joke the RepublicanClowns have become to America. You can NOT refute it either.
It is also the likely end of affirmative action.
Thank you Skip...Just touching in 2 of the lies:
The GOP do care if you are a Christian: They are becoming fast and furious to be the Muslims -Taliban- of the United States. They are desperately trying to abolish all programs for women, such as birth control and abortion, in the name of God. They keep of passing laws that allow prayers in public places. No respect for any other religion or atheism.
The GOP do care about the color of your skin: You only need to listen to Rush Limbaugh 5 minutes talking about President Obama.

David Walker: "Republicans, the Party of Lincoln, the party that fought to preserve the union? Not in this universe. NO! Their "leaders" and every single one of their Presidential candidates promises, guarantees the destruction of the union."
I beg to differ.
Most people agree that our destruction will come from $15 trillion DEBT , huge entitlement programs and NOT having a budget !!
Alan, NJ:
I will not get into a back-and-forth argument with you, because yes, you do deflect. I have on many occasions disagreed with Dem proposals. That is to be expected. They don't get everything right. I am not a party hack and you either know that by now, or you are exceedingly slow on the uptake.
However, to support my contention that the G.O.P. is bent on keeping a perfect record insofar as it gets everything 100% WRONG, I tell you to simply look at the record of the House, since "Republicans" took control. Show me one single action that supports their supposed concern about jobs, jobs, jobs.
You cannot show any such thing. What you can show is attack after attack on personal rights. That's it. I don't care how you try to present their actions, there is absolutely no intent to provide jobs or to foster an environment that would create jobs. Indeed, we have now had a decade, and then some, of tax cuts that supposedly create a favorable environment for "job creators". To this very moment, that remains the G.O.P. solution - tax cuts. The result, no job creation and a continued flow of the nation's wealth into the hands of the wealthiest. Worse, that wealth represent capital that has been stripped of it productive use in the U.S. Oh, it goes overseas, but it sure doesn't create jobs here.
Go piss on someone else's leg.
Leona:
You be sure to get that message across to YOUR most excellent Republican legislators in the House. You know, the House, that place where budgets originate. Tell them to get a budget in place. You might want to avoid John Boehner on that issue though, his 13-page budgets don't include numbers.
Irespond,
Thanks.
Had a little typo in my previous post. (Yeah, like that never happened before) My point is the numbers in the poll are meaningless unless you include a head to head comparison of the top candidates. I think I got one too many double negatives in that sentence and it turned to jibberish. Since the GOP posters are fluent in jibberish I'm sure they got my point, but I'm not so sure about the rest of you. (Rule #1, never miss a chance to GIG the opposition)

Secondly, this is nothing more than a witch hunt and distraction for RWNJs in the Republican House to paint the President's administration as corrupt. That within itself is disingenuous; particularly, for all the Crook& Liars (RepubliCONS) who also got funding as well as had failures.
Thirdly, You have a criminal running the investigation. That'd be Darrel Issa the infamous car thief and arsonist and only criminal in Congress.

Would you RWNJs be satisfed if you could eliminate all democrats and Blacks?
At this point in House Oversight & Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrel Issa’s tenure, the American public has come to expect hearings full of ad hominem attacks, politically motivated inquiries, and investigations stacked to favor Issa’s preferred industries and Republican campaign contributors.
Issa’s consistent pattern of “oversight” in the form of partisan witch-hunts and Obama-bashing has finally sapped the committee of any remaining credibility. Even without a specific conflict of interest in each hearing, he has created such a general appearance of impropriety that everything he does is suspect

Everyday it's the same people saying the same things here.
The same ol'' people who spend their time telling you whats wrong with the party they don't support and how the opposing will help to destroy America. What's worse is that these people actually want everyone too believe that a PARTY is more important than individual candidates.
Here's an idea: Instead of talking about whats wrong with the other party all the time, why not spend the same energy on telling us what's so great about the party you support?
But I suppose it's easier for the simple minded ones to cast aspersions toward others rather trying to convince people that their party choice is the best and the candidates they support are better than another.
Joe Albany:
Joe is another of those rugged conservative types who don't travel on roads built by the government, who don't eat food inspected by the government or take medicines approved by the government. Joe builds his own roads when he wants to go somewhere and knows how to inspect his own food for safety and his own medicines for their safety and effectiveness. These ultra-far-right conservatives are truly awesome!
Alan N.J.
Nope. It's "we've done pretty good, but we could have done much better without an obstructionist Republican opposition." Saved the auto industry, and added private sector jobs for 20 months in a row. The Obama administration has also brought the unemployment rate down by more than 1% from its peak of 10.1%. That's still terribly high, but if the Republican obstructionists were to get voted out of power in 2012, it could probably be lowered much more and much faster.
You can deny that the Republicans are deliberately trying to slow down the economy to defeat President Obama, but you can NOT deny that the Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell said his number 1 goal was to defeat the president, and also crowed about his cleverness in voting against Obama's proposals simply to deny him the legitimacy of bipartisan approval, regardless of the merits of the legislation.
Not that I expect the voters will throw the Republican bums out who caused the economic disaster in the first place and are now impeding the recovery from the disaster they created. The independent voters of the low-info persuasion historically have been guided by the rule that "if economy bad then president bad, and me no like president." I'm not convinced that Obama can change the minds of people who don't like to use their minds in the first place.
My wife and I have a garden. We don't inspect our food because we know where it came from and what conditions it was grown in. On average, we get sick about once every three years or so. Usually it is a mild cold that will go away on its own without medicine. If not, there are many home remedies that work as good if not better than what I can buy at a pharmacy. We've also paid over $700 this year just in federal gas tax.
I know it's only Monday, but I'm guessing this will win Anna Molly's Irony Award of the Week.
You see, this is really all YOU ever talk about.
Lawyers, can always see both sides of the argument :)
David, there are multiple bills that were sent from the house reducing EPA regulations on businesses that would help to create jobs. Now whether you think job creation should take precedence over these environmental rules is a different argument.
On the tax cut issue. Employment during the 0's was pretty good. Now whether it was caused by low taxes, running a deficit (stimulus in other words), or by a housing bubble is up for debate. However, I think as good argument can be made for tax cuts as for stimulus and I know the Administration thinks so. If the President could not win the argument for ending the Bush tax rates in 2010 then he is a lousy politician. More likely he agreed to the extension because he knew it was further stimulus and that a good economy would help his re-election. Further, this Administration has continually made the argument that payroll tax cuts aid job creation.
On the Republicans votes on personal rights I agree. Maybe it will come back to bite them in the election but in a poor economy I don't believe it will. I personally liked what Clint Eastwood recently said on this type of issue.
Your problem is that you don't like it when someone disagrees with your pontifications. Grow up Dude.
Lucky you. I take zinc. Works about the same.
I wonder how that would work with cancer.
Might be time to think about growing corn.
Seriously.
Houston
That old crap about the roads the government built and the food the government inspected and the medicine the government approved is really getting old. Who's money does the government use to do all this good stuff? Do they use the poor people's money? Do they use the 47% of Americans that don't py income taxes? You better thank whoever that we have successful people in this country that give enough to our fine government so they can get those things done because without their money the poor wouldn't have the roads to use or eat safe food or get approved medicine.
Lefties can spin anything. LEAN FORWARD - this won't hurt a bit
1/20/2013 - the end of an error
@Houston!
At least you make a positive argument, not that I agree with your statistic on unemployment (it went down 0.1% this month simply because more people stopped looking for work). It's a pretty useless metric to be honest.
JH-479998
Facts apparently have an expiration date after which they no longer need to be recognized if they are judged inconvenient by the far right wingdings. I learn something new here every day.
Kind of besides the point, don't you think? Or are you saying you're willing to give up "the good stuff" like paved roads and safe food and drugs if you can get out of paying taxes?
Actually, the 47% of the population who don't pay federal income taxes DO pay regressive state and local taxes that do support the general public. It's interesting how these low-income people so enrage conservatives, but it's OK for people like Mitt Romney to pay less federal income tax than an average middle class worker.
Alan, NJ
Are you saying it didn't have anything at all to do with the fact that over 100,000 private sector jobs were added last month? I would kind of think you'd have to add that number into the equation.
Alan, NJ:
Name one of those regulations - just one - in which the tradeoff was not money for health. The attack on regulation has, in virtually every case, a negative impact on the public. Since the attack began on the Reagan watch, we have had the S&L failure, the ONGOING Wall Street crash, the systematic attack on the lower class, and much more.
The fact is most small business people really don't care one way or another about regulations. Here's a link: http://www.citizenvox.org/2011/10/31/small-business-owners-think-the-attack-on-regulations-is-misguided-and-a-bad-idea-jobs-crisis/
That is anecdotal to be sure, but I'll give you a first-hand anecdote. Some regulations are a pain in the ass. Every business man knows that. However, the overriding concern of a GOOD businessman is staying in business. That's how it is.
On the front end, we pay a small amount of tax. That's the way it works as you build a business. As your success increases - along with your income - your taxes go up. In every case, you still have more than you had in the past, progressive tax rates notwithstanding.
I don't mind disagreement. I have been wrong. However, when all you can spout is valueless talking points that I have already heard with mind-numbing repetition, you're damned right I don't like them.
Once the absolutely specious "uncertainty" talking point was dispatched to a well-deserved death, the right-wing choir started singing the "Regulation Hymn". It's BS.
Anna Molly,
Vitamins can be a good supplement. They are not regulated or approved by the government so it's a good idea to do some research before you buy. Fresh vegetables are a great source as well.
- I wonder how that would work with cancer. -
Is there an approved medicine that cures cancer? I wish I would have known that while I watched my father wither away for two years taking morphine and codeine. Those prescribed drugs just didn't help.
- Might be time to think about growing corn. -
I was thinking it might be time for the government to use the money we're already paying to fix the roads. We did try growing corn one year, but it takes up too much room for not much yield.
Alan -- I've posted a few fact checks on your claim that ending regulations create jobs. Unless the Bureau of Labor Stats is wrong I think it is demand that will produce more jobs.... 1100 lost jobs due to regulations, 144,000 jobs lost due to a decrease in demand that is a fact.
@Beverly in Chicago,
Did that rant make sense to you in your head before you typed it out?
- Solyndra was started under Bush - true! But it was the government loan after Obama was president that is in question here.
I will stop there because I don't want to confuse you, honey!
Houston
You make very little sense. Please tell me what facts have an experation date. The fact that tax dollars do all the good you talk about? Or the fact that roads are built with out the help of the poor in this country? I like the fact that I pay taxes and the money goes toward projects that benefit all Americans. What the hell makes you think otherwise?
Since 47% of Americans don't pay federal incomes taxes don't you think it is about time to get the federal government back to their real job of security of our nation? Don't you think that they should get the hell out of the jobs that states should do for themselves? And then don't you think that all of those Americans who want to enjoy the things that states do should actually pay SOMETHING? You better take a good look at what states have the "regressive' taxes you talk about and you will see that the ones in seriious financial trouble are quite BLUE.
"Fast and Furious cost an American officer his life. Obama's gun running will come home to roost.
No comment from the Leftists...."
What? About Obama signed funding for Project Gunrunner into law in 2009, bundled into H.R.1 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009? (His first attempt at funding it failed) "$10,000,000 shall be transferred to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Salaries and Expenses for the ATF Project Gunrunner".
Or that supplying gunrunners (for/from) a foreign nation that was used on US soil to kill American citizens? Or that under OUR laws that makes Obama, Holder and the rest traitors and murderers. Well, it does if we are still under the US Constitution and American laws.
@DCIA
So you make the argument that less regulation does produce jobs, in your case 1100. I did not make the argument that lessening EPA regulations is good or bad because in my mind it depends on the circumstances. For example, say we stop dumping CO2 into the atmosphere tomorrow. Now environmentally that may be a good thing but economically it would be suicide. So lets argue the merits of individual regulations.
On the comparison of demand to regulation to use a phrase its apples to oranges as one does not happen in isolation to the other. If there is huge demand then regulations will diminish in importance as the pricing point for the good or service will be easily include the marginal costs of the regulation. however, in times of weak demand then the cost of regulations become more important as pricing power is reduced and every cost becomes magnified.
This also covers your point David. Every (EPA) regulation is a trade off between money and health. How could it be otherwise?
David Walker, You bring up Republican budgets??
READ UP....Here's the TRUTH...
"As required by law, House Republicans presented a budget in committee, brought it to the floor, and passed it earlier this spring. It was an honest, detailed, concrete plan to put our budget on the path to balance and our economy on the path to prosperity. But Senate Democrats, during this time of national crisis, failed even to present a budget plan — in open defiance of the law and the public they serve. Senate Majority Leader Reid said it would be “foolish” to have a budget. The reason for this evasion is clear: Democrat leaders in Washington think it is politically foolish to commit publicly to the kind of tax increases and health-care rationing that would be required to sustain their vision of ever-expanding federal government."
Alan -- In my world there should be no trade off. People before profits. When you look at the costs of containing and controlling pollutions or safety it would put but a minor dent in profits and save a great deal of money in other areas such as healthcare. Some in that industry are good stewards of the earth and its people and they are very profitable. Why is that? 1100 jobs in the overall picture is a blip...not worth the trade off. Tell them to quit spending their money on lobbyists and put their money to better use such as cleaning up their messes.
Are some regulations silly.....you bet. Let's weigh each according to the impact of the negatives without thought to money.
Sorry, couldn't finish the sentence above. If anything Obama should complain having to sing Negro spirituals without his banjo.
Obama is a caricature and liar unfit to be President. Even FOX Noise thinks so.
I'm a two-time survivor. Early detection and surgery saved my life. But chemo has been instrumental in saving the life of my daughter's grandfather.
I sincerely hope your father explored those options. But I realize they aren't perfect. They didn't work for my stepfather, either. He died of pancreatic cancer within 3 months of diagnosis. Talk about withering away.
Zinc doesn't work for everyone, and yes, I've done the research on it. Thanks.

Houston
You don't make any sense at all. You're just blathering.
YOU claimed that the government provides services even to ultra conservatives who pretend they're totally self-reliant are "old and tired." That's a totally ridiculous thing to say, so I ridiculed you by saying you must think facts have an expiration date if you don't like them.
The "fact" that the poor don't pay for roads is not a "fact." They do pay regressive sales taxes and fees in most states that go to local road projects. And poor people tend no't use the Interstate system a whole lot if they can't afford a car or the cost of gas for driving long distances. But people like you still want to push people living on the brink of poverty into starvation and homelessness by forcing them to pay federal taxes they can't afford to pay. Nice.
Well, they DO pay for them in state and local taxes, but that's another fact that have passed their expiration date.
Wow, I didn't know states with wretched living conditions like Mississippi, Alabama, and Lousianna were still blue states. I thought that all changed after Nixon's "southern strategy" drew all the segregationists away from the Democrats.
Leona:
The quote you put out there for your low-intelligence counterparts is Republican in origin. On its face that is no reason to suggest that it is false, although the G.O.P. has shown itself to welcome habitual liars to its fold.
That fact notwithstanding, please be so good to show us the law Senator Reid defies openly? "Defiance of the law..." was the expression you quoted WITHOUT attribution. Like many others, I am mystified how the country continues to run without one of those budget thingies. Continuing resolution? Meaningless fights over debt ceiling increases? Changing parameters that are already in place for budget changes? Concessions over tax cut expirations?
Come on Leona. Enlighten us. If you can't do that - and of course you can't - just tell us why Mr. Boehner doesn't put on his man pants, his leadership lederhosen, or whatever, and show us the way? He is the Speaker after all. Don't Republicans know how to lead?
Houston
I never "claimed the government provides services even to ultra conservatives who pretend to be totally self- reliant". That is in your feeble mind buddy. You have to stop pretending that everything you think is real. that would be a good first step in your recovery from progressivism. One more fact for you. Lousianna has been owned by democrats for a very very long time. They are improving now with a Republican Governor. "Mississippi since the year 2000 has been noted for its political conservatism, improved civil rights record, and increasing industrialization". That is from the states history records. The Alabama State Legislature came under Republican control for the first time in its history in 2010. So please tell me how the "wretched living conditions" you talk about can be the fault of republicans or conservatives. I am right, you make very little sense. Some would call you a liar but I'm too polite.
Who's blathering Houston? You need to do some research. If you actually knew the truth you might switch to the right. But the left still needs the uninformed to pass their aganda.
Don't_carry_it_all:
Thank you. I see the question even more starkly. Is it important that we cut regulations to further the enrichment of far too many who already have more wealth than they need? Is it more important that we protect our air, water, and soil for EVERYONE?
That these questions even exist in the political world speaks to moral, spiritual, and intellectual bankruptcy.
To bury this debate under the utterly ridiculous question, "Who shall decide what is more wealth than someone needs," is embarrassing. If it must be asked, here's the answer. Put me in charge. I'll handle that nagging issue. For starters, Mitt Romney has more than enough. The Kerry's have more than enough. The Koch's, Kennedy's, and Rockefellers have more than enough. My wealth pales in comparison to those named, and I have plenty.
David Walker,
Isn't this one sentence by Harry Reid enough to impeach this incompetent fool they call Senate Majority Leader?!
"Senate Majority Leader Reid said it would be “foolish” to have a budget. "
Hey, David, don't you pay taxes like half of us? You sound like a tax/spend liberal who's on the govt. dole.
David -- The most important sentence in your post:
You speak with heart and truth my friend. Don't ever stop as they are trying to bankrupt us all.
So I hope you never travel any means other than people powered, although the process of manufacturing a bicycle probably polluted the environment in someway (how did they produce the energy to forge the metal, mine the ore....).
Be serious. Every environmental regulation is a trade off and if you don't accept that then you are arguing from an unrealistic position. You see I do accept climate change, it was the advocacy of the potential effects that ruined their position. Remember, the glaciers on the Alps were gone in 2037 or something. So, lets have a rational argument of the effects of a regulation, is cleaner air worth 1000 jobs? Lets have a debate on who will win who will lose if the climate changes. One thing I do know is that we are not so brilliant that we can maintain this climate exactly as it is for the foreseeable future.
I'm not an absolutionist for either side.
Leona:
Your response tells me you cannot answer the questions I asked. You deflect, divert, and ignore. Those aren't tactics, Leona, that's ignorance.
What's foolish, Leona? Is it, "Deficits don't matter," from Dick Cheney? Is it two wars that were deliberately moved off the books? Is it waterboarding that is a clear violation of law? Is it a Medicare benefit that has not been financed?
Now, Leona, here's another question. How does one impeach a United States Senator? It has only happened once in the history of this country, and there was no conviction. Do you really expect a Senate that includes the likes of Jim Inhofe and Jim DeMint to impeach someone? And you have the nerve to talk about incompetent fools?
Why do you and your low-intelligence repeatedly advertise your complete ignorance and expect to be taken seriously?
What is it that makes me sound like a tax/spend liberal? Is it the fact that I'm a veteran? Is it the fact that I went to college? Is it the fact that I ran my own business for about 25 years? What is it Leona?
David,
People who name call , like yourself ("your low-intelligence repeatedly advertise your complete ignorance") , are on the wrong side of the facts. Didn't anyone ever tell you that?
Furthermore, I went to college also, own a business also and sent 2 kids to college ( paid for it myself) . So, dont think, for one minute that I would be intimidated by you and your name calling. That says more about you than it does me.
You are defending Harry Reid's comments. Anyone who thinks , like Harry Reid , that it's "Foolish to have a budget" is a tax/spend liberal, as far as I know.
Leona -- Where did you get that quote from on Reid? Could you post a link so i have some context?
Dont carry it all,
Many have written about that quote from Reid.
Google it and take your pick of articles. You can decide what source you like .
Leona:
As far as you know? What you know is what the propaganda machine puts in your head and nothing more.
Show me where I defended Senator Reid's comment. Hell, show me where Senator Reid made that comment.
I've asked you questions and you keep coming back with crap. Deflect, divert, ignore. Weak, Leona. Pathetically weak. How do your propose to impeach Senator Reid for a comment you don't seem to be able to find? How Leona? Show me where Senator Reid acted in defiance of the law! Show me.
Your baseless accusations and your hollow responses may play well for the low-intelligence crowd. That counts for nothing. They will vote "R" if the Republican Presidential candidate is Charles Manson. However, you make a very strong case for genuine independent voters and Republicans who can see how dangerous the "Republican Party" has become to vote "Anything but R".
P.S. Leona - The full quote, not the out of context crap.
David Walker,
You can call me all the names you want. It shows you are on the wrong side of the facts. You used the word "WEAK". The word is perfect for you.
Reid's comment (" its foolish to have a budget") is all over the internet. It's not too hard for you to google, is it? There are many sources I've seen it in. Look it up in la times ( you must love them as a source). I saw it there and many other places too.
Furthermore, do not accuse me of "baseless accusations." I never get my facts from my own imagination, like you, I get them from solid reading from many sources.
You sound like a very angry person. Get help.
Gee Leona, you act like being accused of making baseless, empty accusations is new. The only thing that's new is for you to hang around pretending to defend the baseless, empty accusations.
lolololololololololol
can someone PLEASE pass some tissues,...I am laughing so hard the TEARS are streaming down my face:
I think it's safe to assume those sources can be traced directly to Faux or Drudge, right? Best laugh of the day, by far. I am so glad this troll showed up. I mean just when you thought JAS1 or nojo was enough BS to fill the feed lot,...we get this perfect gift.

The fact that Harry Reid said what I mentioned, is truth. You can try to shut people up but the truth speaks louder that you liberals. Fortunately, we can all easily get our facts by the push of a button.
BTW, the name calling never works. Anyone who hasn't heard that Harry Reid said " It's foolish to have a budget" has been sleeping.
I don't see why you like to attack the "messenger". Go after Harry Reid , instead, for being the bumbling fool he is.
The name calling always says more about you than it does me. It doesn't phase me and it won't make the opposing views disappear just because you like to spread the propaganda here at Msnbc ( where the "M" stands for misleading).
OMG,...this is priceless,...
I do not detect a single ounce of irony from post #1.78 and yet there are no less than TWO name calling incidents,...
What does that say again?
PS. I think John Deere has the appropriate sized vehicle for the PROPAGANDA this troll spreads from Faux and Drudge,...
still laughing out loud. Tuesdays aren't bad either.
This isn't hard, Leona. All you have to do is produce a source for the quote IN CONTEXT. If you can't back it up it didn't happen.
There hasn't been a lot for average Americans to applaud in regard to Herman Cain, but he deserves credit for his honesty on at least one occasion. That would be when he recently admitted to whom he was beholden;
http://articles.latimes.com/2011/nov/04/news/la-pn-cain-afp-20111104
Too bad the rest of the GOP field isn't as honest, because they're ALL in the back pockets of these Plutocrats. They're busy folks, too. Don't let the do nothing Congress fool you, there's plenty of action going on at the state level. Much of it is cleared through a familiar body created just for the purpose of mainlining their deepest wishes directly into legislative action...ALEC, the American Legislative Exchange Council. Let's see what they've been up to lately. As noted previously lawmakers belonging to ALEC have a DUTY to introduce ALEC legislation into their legislative bodies, and in Michigan they're doing a good job;
McMillin was first questioned about his affiliation with ALEC at a town hall meeting in March at the Rochester city hall. At that time he tried to make light of his affiliation with ALEC and tell constituents it did not matter whether he was a member of ALEC or not.
When McMillin was questioned about HB 4453 by teachers at a subsequent town hall meeting, he tried to disavow his connection with the Michigan Government Competition Against Private Enterprise Act. McMillin had told The Rochester Citizen at a town hall meeting at the Older Persons Commission that he would allow The Rochester Citizen to come to his office in Lansing and he would log in to his ALEC account and let us compare bills on the ALEC member-only part of the web site to some of the legislation he has introduced. McMillin never made good on his promise. McMillin is the main sponsor of HB 4453. HB 4453 is bears an uncanny resemblance to a bill that was made available through the Center For Democracy in Media’s document dump. The model legislation from ALEC is called The Competitive Contracting of Government Services Act.
Other McMillin legislation also appears to have come from ALEC. HR 277, whose main sponsor is also McMillin, comes word for word from the ALEC web site. The model resolution on the ALEC web site is called the State Withdrawal from Regional Climate Initiatives.
Other examples of ALEC model legislation that McMillin has introduced include Resolutions on Preserving States’ Rights Regarding Federal Health Insurance Exchanges and Public Plan looks to be the source of the Mackinac Center’s Health Care Compact, as outlined in an article appearing on the Mackinac Center’s web site, ObamaCare‘ Litmus test’ for legislators.
McMillin is one of 2400 state legislators that belong to ALEC, whose ultimate goal is to privatize all functions of government. ALEC has over 300 corporate funders and has two national meetings per year. One meeting is a legislative task force meeting where ALEC members come together to decide what legislation to bring forth to the general membership annual meeting. This year the annual meeting of ALEC will occur in New Orleans where protests are planned by ProtestAlec.org.

Then again with such strong Conservative majorities the government of Michigan has proven to have no shame. Their latest gambit is writing a bill claiming to prevent school bullying when in fact it PROTECTS BULLIES! http://www.esquire.com/blogs/politics/michigan-bullying-law-6542330
It isn't just Michigan either, with the Missouri legislature being just as active, and just as radical;
http://www.progressmissouri.org/alec
There's plenty more at www.alecexposed.org if you'd like to know what's happening in your neighborhood. And now ALEC EVEN PRETENDS TO BE A JOURNALISTIC ORGANIZATION!
As newsrooms across the country shave off staff due in part to slipping ad revenue and corporate media conglomeration, the Franklin Center for Government and Public Integrity, is rushing to fill the gap. The group has 43 state news websites, with writers in over 40 states. Its reporters have been given state house press credentials and its news articles are starting to appear in mainstream print newspapers in each state. Who funds Franklin and what is its agenda?
The Funding Trail Leads to Bradley, Koch, and Other Right-Wing Groups
The websites started sprouting up in 2009. Some of these new sites go by the moniker "Reporter" as with the Franklin Center's Wisconsin Reporter that was launched in January as a website and wire-like service. Others have taken the shared name of "Watchdog.org," or "Statehouse News." The websites all offer their content free to local press -- many of the news bureaus send out their articles to state editors every day. The sites also offer free national stories that media can receive daily by subscribing.
The websites are coordinated and funded by a new non-profit group that calls itself the "Franklin Center for Government and Public Integrity." The Franklin Center told the Center for Media and Democracy that it does not disclose its funders, but some of its funding can been uncovered from foundation reports. Franklin acts as a hub that distributes funding that it receives from right-wing institutions such as the Wisconsin-based Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation and the Chicago-based Sam Adams Alliance. The North Dakota and DC-based center works with reporters embedded in conservative think tanks and others who have their own news bureaus.
According to Media Transparency, a media watchdog group that was acquired by Media Matters Action Network in 2008, the Bradley Foundation's clear political agenda and network has allowed it to have extensive influence on public policy. The media group notes that while the Foundation's "targets range from affirmative action to social security, it has seen its greatest successes in the area of welfare 'reform' and attempts to privatize public education through the promotion of school vouchers." The Bradley Foundation gave the Franklin Center $190,500 last year.
The Franklin Center was launched with the help of Sam Adams Alliance, which calls itself "SAM." The CEO of SAM, Eric O'Keefe, has been featured at events funded by David Koch's right-wing group called "Americans for Prosperity" (AFP). As the Center for Media and Democracy/PRWatch.org has previously noted, O'Keefe frequently and positively profiles the Tea Party and attacks health care reform and other progressive ideas. He also helped launch the "American Majority" group which trains conservatives to run for office. He sits on the Board of Directors of the Club for Growth Wisconsin, which ran divisive ads in support of Scott Walker's radical overhaul of collective bargaining rights for Wisconsin workers. He previously worked for David Koch's AFP predecessor group named "Citizens for a Sound Economy," among other roles.
O'Keefe's latest enterprise, SAM, gets part of its funding from the State Policy Network (SPN), which is partially funded by The Claude R. Lambe Foundation. Charles Koch, one of the billionaire brothers who co-own Koch Industries, and his wife and children, along with long-time Koch employee Richard Fink, comprise the board of this foundation. SAM is named after Founding Father Sam Adams, one of the leaders in the Boston Tea Party tax protests.

Once you start on this it just goes on and on...and most tentacles lead back to the Kochtopus.
It looks as if Mr. Cain has no respect for his mother either. To say the Koch brothers father had sex with Cain's mother is too much. But I guess this proves Cain has no respect for any woman, even his own mother.
You do realize thats a statement that here in Detroit people use all the time. I get called " My brother from another mother" about a few times a month. By African Americans in Detroit, I frist heard it about 10 years ago when I first moved here.
Sue --
I'd see your comment, and raise it by its obvious "slave" implications, except that I suspect Cain doesn't even realize what he said.
And that's even scarier to me.
I do, JOS1. "Twin Sons of Different Mothers" is also the title of a Dan Fogelberg album. I'm just surprised Cain is that forward about advertising his being in the back pockets of the most wealthy and elite of wealthy elites.
Is that by the same people who know better then to bite the hand that feeds them?
Back with more of your tall tales huh Harry?
Tell us the one again about coming home from Viet Nam will ya?
Harry the self proclaimed 'IT' guru - are you still saving your 'screen shots'? lmao

John B, excellent post! ALEC has written many boiler plate pieces of legislation from privatization to voter ID to union busting to women's reproductive rights--all embraced by nearly every GOP Governor with a GOP state legislature.
The sexual harassment charges against Herman Cain occured when he was employed by the National Restaurant Association, one of the largest special interest lobby groups. They lobby to keep out unions, they lobby against increases in the minimum wage. It is odd that most of the media has failed to mention it was a lobbying group or mentioned it in passing.
Anomaly, you need to get out more. "My brother from another mother" is a term many men, including myself, use to when we talk about a man who, while not my brother by blood, is my brother in every other sense of the word.
Slave implications? You are way out in left field with that comment. But it does say a lot about you. It is you who does not seem to realize what he said.
Stop being judge and jury of everything people say and maybe you will learn something.
Herman Cain is not afraid of his relationship with the Koch's. Time will tell if that hurts him or helps him, but at least he is honest about it. Unlike our "transparent" President and some of his relationships with donors and advisors.
We got rid of Sarah Palin just to get Herman Cain.
The Republicans always have a "freak"carving, no matter what.
John B -- Thanks for bringing up the Parent Trigger Act. I read about this a month or so ago and was quite alarmed. It sets up teachers and indeed schools to be subject to the whims of few who may have personal reasons to see a teacher or school fail. Very dangerous and subjective at the detriment of educators and indeed those wishing to be educated not controlled. Hopefully this will not stand up when challenged. This type of "control" is being considered in more than one district or town throughout our nation and I find it appalling.
JohnB......great post. Very informative. ALEC has been another of those under the radar organizations that the conservatives have operated under for far too long.
Thanks for shining the spotlight on it, maybe now, some will counterbalance it or at the very least pay attention to it's activities.
Ms Fiesty I was not in Vietnam, I was however in South east Asia at that time aboard a Flectcher Class FRAM destroyer when my tour was up I flew to my next duty station in Philly to a Naval weapons group in the area of Wayne PA. I use South east Asia to avoid any confusion. Even though most Veterans consider anyone in the area during the conflict a vet I specifically would tell people Im a VietNam era vet. I am not a self proclaimed IT person. I am and have been employed by the following companies since my discharge from military service in 1979. At&t (Hartford ct, Bath Iron works Me. Oracle (RedwoodShores Ca, ADP Ann Arbor Mi and well now, I believe you know where I work now. Im sure you have been to LinkedIn, I dont try to hide who I am or where I work. You still have not responded with my duty stations and rank along with any qualifications or commendations (I have quite a few).
Do a little digging and look what I found... lmao

Sometimes it's best to quit while you're ahead Harry... lmao@U
I'm sure you won't mind if we don't take a certified liar seriously? *wink wink*
Hey Harry - look what else I found;
Now it's 16 years??? lmao!
jollyoldsoul1
I hope you were a better electrician then the bull@!$%# artist you play here at First Read! lol
PS: No wonder you're on your 5th wife - once the other 4 sobered up and got a good look at ya they ran for the hills!
What you dont see is 6 years of active reserves of which I was activated 4 times. You can make up all you want too. It doesn't bother me one bit. I actually have 2 Honorable discharges as do many people who went into Active reserve duty! I dont need you to recant my life for me.....I lived it, not you! PS I crossrated to a Weapons Rank because IC was full above E6 in order to advance I had to change rates. Most anyone with naval experience can tell you that.
Here's the biggest WHOPPER of them all...
Having graduated from Brunswick High School is 1976, can you explain to us how you came back from Nam in the early 70's?
You sir, are a disgrace to those who ACTUALLY fought and served in Viet Nam!
jollyoldsoul1
Tell me again Harry, who it is that's making stuff up? lmao
Do you want to give up now or shall I continue?
I'm only getting warmed up... & so is my butter drenched *popcorn*
Bev, you dummy,
If I had a brother from another mother, that would mean that we have DIFFERENT mothers. So no, a Koch Bro's father did not have sex with Cain's mother. A literal interpretation would mean that they have the same father and different mothers. However everybody knows it wasn't literal.
You are not smart.
Casey,...can you REPEAT that with a straight face?
Seriously?
Here's a tip,...it takes a single sperm AND an egg,...okay, now do the math.
Okay, listen up, all you still-undecided GOP voters (and isn't that pretty much all of you?) On Friday, I challenged you to go on record with which candidate you were ready to not just vote for in 2012, but to actively campaign for and support as passionately as we loony libbies did and will do again for Barack Obama. No one answered the call, which I take to mean the current choices just aren't getting you all "fired up and ready to go".
So, in the spirit of bi-partisanship, I offer you another choice that I just heard about myself on Friday. State Senator Stewart Greenleaf, Senior, from right here in my very own Pennsylvania, has plunked down the $1000 filing fee to get his name on the New Hampshire primary ballot. You'll love him - he's against "reckless spending" and wants to return America "to the path of prosperity and progress". There's just one tiny problem - he hasn't raised a dime yet, does not plan to campaign at all and pretty much has no intention whatsoever of actually even being President. But he still thinks his voice needs to be be heard. Why? Well, coincidentally enough, his son, Stewart Greenleaf Junior, just happens to be on the ballot here in Pennsylvania in tomorrow's election, for Montgomery County Controller. Wait, I know what you're thinking - just a pathetically obvious publicity stunt to help Junior's name recognition and deliberately mislead the voters? Why, shame on you - in fact Greenleaf Senior says that's just "hilarious" and that's a "desperate kind of thing to say". Really.....it's just a total coincidence. Honest it is. Even though he's not really running for President. So come on, Montgomery County - I mean, America - get on the Stewart Greenleaf bandwagon! Any old Stewart Greenleaf. Keep that proud family tradition going.
Wait, you're still undecided? Well, in researching more of this story than what was in Friday's Philadelphia Inquirer, I found that there are no less than 30 - count 'em, 30! - Republicans currently on the New Hampshire primary ballot:
"New Hampshire's January primary tends to attract oddball candidates. Contenders need only fill out a one-page form and pay a $1,000 filing fee to get their names on the ballot.
This year's Republican crop is no different. It includes Edward O'Donnell, a Wilmington nonprofit manager whose candidate literature boasts his Little League batting average (.561) amid pledges to take on societal scourges such as litter and meanness.
There is also perennial candidate Vermin Supreme, the performance artist from Boston, who showed up this year to file his paperwork sporting a green tiger-stripe shirt, black leather cap shaped like a boot, and a full-on Grizzly Adams beard. He says that if elected, he'll push for a law mandating teeth-brushing for all."
Hey.....does anyone else sense a dream ticket here? A guy named Vermin Supreme AND another crazy O'Donnell from Delaware? Of course, they'd have to change the tooth-brushing "mandate" to "job-creating" tooth brushing, and maybe that anti-meanness thing could be dialed back a little, but come on, who in America isn't in favor of wearing boots on your head and against litter? Can't you just see the sea of signs at next summer's convention and hear the wild cheering and chanting?
"We Want Vermin! We want Vermin!! We want VERMIN!!!"
The grassroots movement starts here, America. Yes you can!

I know some drug counselors, if you need a name or two.......I guess the kool aid has finally started to kill those brain cells.
Leona,
You are as devoid of a sense of humor as the current republican candidates are of integrity. Pretty lousy life you must lead.
Doom...Check. Gloom...Check.
Bryan,
There are people who like my sense of humor. lol.....I guess you are not one of them.
Usually it's the people who disagree with my politics who think I am NOT funny.
The republicans are "devoid of integrity" , in your opinion?? I disagree.
Harry Reid ( D) is the Senate Leader who thinks it's "foolish to have a budget." Where's the "integrity" in that??
Bryan, I am pretty sure they can't accurately be described as 'people' - It's always a miss when you have to explain your jokes.
PS. Republicans are devoid,....we can just leave it there.
Republicans are to budgets what supplemental funding is to war,...
Cain's a Koch brother from another mother, huh? More like idiot b@st@rd stepchild! Mr. Cain doesn't want to go "there"? It ain't necessarily his call!
Santorum shouldn't be on the air too long discussing his campaign. How long does it take to say "I'm totally screwed"!
The fascinating thing for me is that so many people are just SURE they're going to be part of the 1% with the Kochs some day, and the best way to accomplish that is to cut the leg out from under average Americans.
Kinda reminds you of Sylvester the cat, cutting a hole in the floor while standing right in the middle, doesn't it?
Good morning. My question of the morning is, if you were supposedly a powerful, influential group in a swing state, had a convention and no one showed up, would you be a bit peeved? This happened this weekend to the Florida tea party. Not even Gov. Rick Scott or Sen. Mark Rubio showed up, and they owe the tea party their elections! Not only are there earthquakes in Oklahoma, sounds like there will be some rumblings in some corners of the Sunshine State.
Now that's funny. Can't help wondering if the GOPers are finally realizing that by associating with the teapublicans, they embrace the crazy coming from it. Although, Rick Scott is one of the crazy, I still can't believe Floridians elected a guy who committed medical fraud in the milllions and believed they would get someone other than a crook for Governor.
Jody, many of us here could not believe Rick Scott became our governor. He won by less than 25,000 votes or to put it a different way, those +25k who stayed home that day gave him the election.
There is a lesson there for those who can vote but sometimes don't, make sure you vote in EVERY election. When people hear someone is ahead in the polls or is likely to win, they don't sometimes make the extra effort to have their voices heard.
It's always depressing to see the states that are solid or likey or lean GOP. How can there be that many people who support the climate-change-denying, low-taxes on the rich, belligerant-foreign policy stance right wingers who dominate the Republican Party? It's unbelievable that the President under whose authority Osama bin laden was finally killed, and who brought the American auto industry back from the brink of bankruptcy, should have to struggle to be re-elected. Where are people's heads?
I've asked myself why so many people apparently vote agains their own self-interest. I think it comes down to (in order of importance) abortion (God wants me to screw myself) and guns (I may not have a damn thing to protect, but I'll kill to protect it. At least, I can shoot something for dinner!)
Might be time to get a new set of talking points Ames. These are getting pretty thread bare.
Thinking about how much worse off they are since Obama assumed the position.
Actually, my head is swimming from the silliness of the GOP candidates over the weekend. And staying up way too late to watch some great football games.
That is the issue Amy, If you walk around my neighborhood "Detroit" you would think Mr Obama would have no problems getting re-elected. Get in your car and drive 20 mins west and you know why he is having to fight to be re-elected. Michigan as a state is Republican with a Republican Gov and a Majority republican state government.
Many people split their votes. Maine has a Teapublican governor with a Republican majority state legislature and will likely support Barack Obama in 2012. The key to a state going blue is the proportion of intelligent, well informed voters to the overall population. No doubt Michigan would go Democratic if there were a higher proportion of bright people there. Do you think it's the industrial pollution that is lowering your collective I.Qs?
@ Amy do you think it displays great intelligence to say you would walk over hot coals to vote for President Obama? I am an Independent but I think anyone who votes straight party line without thought displays a lack of reasoning. I saw a German made car in the parking lot with a bumper sticker that red "This is a Blue Car" sponsored by you guessed it the Democrats. Now how do you reconcile that with their support of the American auto worker and the unions?
And the bullsh!t meter goes off the charts... lmao!
Sweetie - you're a lot of things however, independent isn't amongst them! ;o)
Time to find some new material - you're stuck in a rut with your wheels spinning!
Amy do you think it displays great intelligence to say you would walk over hot coals to vote for President Obama?
Yes, I would walk over hot coals to re-elect President Obama. It's an expression of how enthusiastic I am about my candidate. Tell me, would you kick off your flip flops for Romney?
Amy, I hear you. Makes you wonder how anyone would want to return to the same policies that put us in this mess. I don't put much stock in these analyses a year out from an election. It is typical of voters to be looking at the other side when there is an incumbent and especially with the economy as it is. Right now, the media focus is primarily on the GOP and what they are saying. Voters are looking at the alternative. Who that alternative is will make a big difference. If memory serves me correctly, it looked competitive for John McCain until about October 2008. That said, if voters like the 99ers choose a republican in Nov 2012, they have no one to blame when things only get worse for them.
Ah Feisty old gal. just calling it as I see it. Amy's words speak for themselves. It is sweet however you feel the need to come to her defense each time. However maybe you should take your own advice on getting new material.
You're the essence of a low information voter. One that votes for someone regardless of the results of their actions or their view of the future. You're a hero worshiper, one that does not hold the candidate accountable for their actions, or analyze the results of their body of work. Yet you run around here calling anyone that does hold Obama accountable and would not be for Obama because of that accountability as "unintelligent" and "uniformed".
You are nothing but a caricature of what you attempt to be critical of.
Reading your posts used to be amusing. Now it's crossed over to just being pitiful.
See it?
Seriously?
You can't see past the end of your nose...
If you could find a clue with both hands, a flashlight & map, you would know Amy doesn't need anyone to defend her...
Thanks... I intend to! ;o)
@ Feisty so how do you respond to the example of a bumper sticker on a German made car supporting Democrats? You don't see how ironic that is? I think you need to may need to get a clue and take off your rose colored glasses.
JoAnnaSmith1
You don't do personal attacks very well. Stick to making stuff up.
Well I am encouraged by the analyses. The president has been bashed 24/7/365 by a media empire dedicated to that, he has been openly and proudly sabotaged by republican leadership since the very beginning of his term. Yet with a year out the race will be very competitive, and he is slightly leading all the republican candidates, certainly does not indicate he will lose, it certainly does not indicate the big landslide loss for Obama some posters here continually predict. The good news is his numbers are ticking up now, I believe we can thank Congress for that, and if they stick to their current strategy for the next year, they will make it even tougher for the republican candidate.
@KSW - are you saying that democrats can only buy American made cars, and republicans/TP can only buy foreign made cars. Your claim is astounding. Ideologically, democrats stand behind the option of buy any damn car you want. Now go find a talking point that is relevant.
It sure appears Amy can stand on her own two feet, hot coals notwithstanding. That was a good one, Ames!
@ RedDev No my point is you shouldn't being driving foreign cars if you profess to support unions and the American auto manufacturer. The obvious hypocrisy is that you then turn around complain about big business selling jobs to overseas. I would love to see you take your comment that you can buy any car you want to a UAW meeting..... LOL My father worked for GM for over 40 years, you would not be caught driving a foreign manufactured car on to the GM plant lot.
Well, you see KSW, it goes like this. I am a liberal, drive a foreign branded car, and unlike the union-busting GOP/TP, I support unions. I see no irony in that.
What is ironic is that conservative white collar auto workers can't design and build a car that competes with a foreign auto brand without blaming that inadequecy on unions. The other irony is that conservatives love to blame unions for sending jobs overseas - yet in every case it is white collar workers that make the ultimate decision to send jobs overseas, not the unions. And the biggest irony of all is how anyone who favors unions could support the GOP/TP - they are the party that wants to abolish unions. LOL back at ya and by the way, my foreign car was assembled in the US.
Sorry Red but I am not buying your response. There is a big difference between buying and driving a foreign car assembled in the US and one that is just sold in the US. I still would love to see someone drive that car to a UAW meeting or to a GM auto plant. I don't support sending any American jobs overseas no matter what the reason (unions pricing too high or operating expense decisions by executives). In my mind there is no difference, just different people making the decision. Both contribute to American job losses.
ksw - If you are a spokesman for the UAW and you are implying that by driving my foreign branded car near a UAW worker will incite a violent response, then I need to re-think my support for the UAW. However, since I do not think you are a representative, I will continue to support the UAW and all other unions right to organize by voting against GOP/TP candidates that support abolishing government worker unions. Hence, and again I will repeat, no irony. I support unions by voting against law makers that want to abolish government employee unions.
@ Red I am speaking from my father's personal experience working for GM for over 40 years. That is my problem with either die hard Democrats or Republicans who make their political decisions strictly on partly lines.
DANG I wish it were possible to vote more than once for the same comment.
John B,...
I know, right?
We have never before had a president that hates America and wants to ruin our country. It's sad that even one American would still vote for him. Before the last election he had little track record except that he was friends with terrorist supporters and anti-American activists. But now we've had 3 years of Obama bad mouthing America and implementing policies which undermine the Constitution and harm our land financially, economically, diplomatically, politically and militarily. Americans, please love our country enough to send this guy packing.
I never heard him say he wants to destroy America, he did a hell of a lot better job of defending it than republicans did. He got the guy they started a war over, he got a couple of our arch enemies republicans failed to. Now why would he do such a good job of protecting what you claim he wants to destroy?
Another year of talking points, lies, and spin with no real world solutions in sight?
Depressing.
(Or maybe I'm still bitter from my Tide getting rolled and my Titans getting thumped . . . lol!)
Ya'll have a great day.
Sorry for your losses Nashville. However, did you know that the Alabama game had the 2nd highest ratings ever for a college football game? So, now, more than us folks in the SEC know how very good the Tide really is. As a Jag fan, I shall not comment on your loss. At least WE didn't lose this weekend (we had a bye, that's the only way we can win this year)
phinephnancy:
I didn't know that about the ratings for the game . . . that's pretty cool . . . it definitely lived up to the hype . . .especially if you lie defense! :oP
Nash---I'll jump on the bitter train with you after my Steelers lost last night with 8 seconds left. Sigh. So today I am tired and bummed out.
I was watching that game last night Steeler Fan . . . my heart broke for you! :o(
Feel for you Steeler Fan. If makes you feel any better, that game was better than a lot of super bowl games I have seen. The 2 best NFL teams were on the field last night. Too bad one had to lose.
Nashville Fan,
Should have watched the Oklahoma State vs. Kansas state game 52 to 45 in a barn burner. Everyone talks about the SEC but Big 12 still has the most exciting teams where anyone can beat anyone any given Saturday.
We got rid of boring grind it out dullards like Nebraska and Colorado last year. Trying to bring in flashy TCU and the West Virginia Hokies for next year.
phinephancy,...you can hope you're playing the Chiefs this year,...you could certainly win THAT way,...man Miami ROLLED us big time. It was FUGLY!
Hey, Dawg,
I heard the outcome caused a frickin' EARTHQUAKE,...Just wait until the NBA resolves their drama and
THE THUNDER ROLLS!
PS. Bummed about Mizzou leaving the Big 12; but That will make it easier to return fully to my OU roots! The border rivalry here w/ KU is only just beginning to drift. and in other news, the NCAA Basketball tournament is scheduled to be held at Sprint Center until 2014; but Mizzou leaving means that contract may be nullified,...Big 12 likes to spend that money in a state with a Team,...can you blame them? What a cluster,...at least we've got normalcy in politics,...Wait, WHAT? LMAO ;)
Clara - Actually, Mizzou will be missed. I'm a Texas Tech Alum so indifferent about Texas A&M going. TCU horned frogs out of Ft. Worth will be a good fit to what is looking like a regional conference only odd ball will be Virginia Tech.
Hoping for a miracle if Texas Tech can beat Okie state this week. Hard to guage the Red Raiders, they beat Oklahoma and then get creamed by UT.
Saturday night we felt the earth quake all the way down in North Texas.
I'll be happy for the season to start, Mavs raise their banner and then try to capture lighting in a bottle. It will be hard especially with OKC Thunder being the new faces.
I'm not sure what data you used with re: to Oregon, but I live here, and there is no way it is not solidly blue. Another factor which the media ignores is those states with very unpopular Republican governors and policies, as well as those states where auto manufacturing plays a significant role and has made a resurgence because of the programs the administration put in place.
You don't think those voters are going to look at what those governors have implemented, which will then give them pause about voting for a Republican president?
Right now the president is in a sense running against a "generic" Republican. Once voters have seen what Romney is proposing, I think you will see a bigger gap.
Lynn---You're right. When voters are given a chance to compare President Obama to to someone like Romney head to head the polls will change. All Romney's flipping and flopping until he's picked will be used against him effectively in the general election.
On yesterdays MTP it was stated the Mr Obama is the Flip to Mr Romney's Flop! I thought that was quite a funny statement. I distinctly remember there being a left lean on that show, I cant imagine the left on here are too happy with Mr. Gregory's interviewing as of late.
FR: "By the way, the 11 toss-up states fit nicely into three regions: the five in the Midwest/Rust Belt (IA, MI, OH, PA, WI)
Hey, guys, I love my friend Steeler Fan, but come on - from my house I can be in Delaware in 10 minutes, New Jersey in about 13, and have my toes in the Atlantic Ocean in well under two hours.....and that puts me in the Midwest? I need a new map!
JoAnne----we are NOT mid-westerners, for sure. I would probably run from a cow! And here in Pittsburgh we have worked hard to remake our economy after losing the steel industry.
Feisty, Beverly Jody in Iowa, Eric and the other Libs,,, give me the name of any female you know who accuses Herman Cain of sexual harrassment,,, oh,, you can't ?
Prove to me that Cain was involved with any settlement with the " supposed harrassment issues " ,,, oh ,, you can't,,, even though the NRAS stated he was not involved.
Since you can't really answer the simplest of questions regarding Politico trying to destroy a decent man that should be a role model for any race, culture etc... simply keep on reading Organize America , MoveOn.org., Politico, watching Bill Mahr, MSNBC 's ridiculous news comment shows by true radicals like Ed, Rachel, etc... watching Main Stream TV, partying at the Dew Drop Inn,,, and sending checks to the radicals at OWS.
You folks are such losers I can only laugh at you ,,, along with the MSNBC preview above... you really think Florida is not voting Republican ???
Obama is all done ,, live with it.
Better turn your tv on this afternoon. A 4th woman in coming out, in person, for a press conference to talk about Hermie and sexual harassment of her. Stay tuned.
Alan, it's not the "libbies" who are trying to destroy Cain. We'd love to run against him!
HAHAHA!
How about that Alan?
We're gonna get the last laugh little buddy!
Speaking of sexual harrassment, when is FR going to do a story on athe multiple rapes and sexual assaults going on in the Fleabagger camps? Didn't see any of those in the Tea Party rallies, did you? In fact, when is anyone on here AT ALL going to talk about the rising criminality and chaos taking place with the OccuCommies?
Free food, free shelter and a lawless atmosphere attracts the dregs of society? What? Wow. And to think this is what Fleabagger supporter Hussein Obama wants the whole country to be...
The whole Fleabagger movement is turning into a horrid joke (I always knew it was) and any Republican candiate worth his salt needs to hang this around the neck of Hussein Obama like an albatross. He deserves it for associating himself with such filth.
Hmm, Damage, do you have brain damage? You just don't get it. And to be perfectly honest, you aren't worth it.
We already know the woman who came to the press today is brave, sure hope she's strong as well. Conservatives have demanding someone name names ever since the story first hit. Let's be real, there's only one reason they want names -- so they can make an example of anyone who dares tell a negative truth about the Right. The knives will be out for this woman, I hope she's ready for the Conservative attacks.
Do any of these candidates want to actually be President or are they just interested in selling books?
I've seen the same trend in our local races. More then a few of the 15 candidates running for mayor here seem to be in it for the publicity, either to promote their business or distribute their resume. If they actually won the election, they'd faint.
Yes, this seems to be a republican theme, Brewer from AZ. being another example. However, you have to give Cain the top award for this in his brilliant Koch-Cain Con-Job. This is where you stage a fake presidential campaign, reap in tons of money from rich conservatives, let out a leak on a sex scandal to destroy your presidential bid, all designed to make your book tour a success. Brilliant, I tell ya, Brilliant. I love a good conspiracy theory!!
They can't bother to be President and garner real accomplishments, when they can rack up the $'s now,...it's how they roll.
Looking at you, Sister Sarah! KaChing!
I see some peronality similarities between the GOP candidates this year vs. those in 1980.
Rick Perry is John Connally-like
Mitt Romney is George H.W. Bush-like
Herman Cain is Ronald Reagan-like
John Connally was a former Democrat, a former successful Texas Governor, handsome, and had a ton of $$ to spend on his campaign. But it went nowhere because he just did not connect. Sounds like Rick Perry.
George H.W. Bush had been a successful businessman, a Congressman, an ambassador - he looked great on paper. But he was somewhat boring, stiff and just didn't have that spark. Sounds like Mitt Romney.
Ronald Reagan in 1980 was not taken seriously by Democrats or many in the media. He bungled his facts and was dubbed the "amiable dunce." But he had a small set of core ideas and beliefs that he repeated over and over. He also was said to have a strong coating of Teflon. Why? He was a sunny optimist - extremely likeable - funny - he definitely connected with people. Sounds like Herman Cain.
And as to the General Election in 2012 I see a parallel to 1948 on the Democratic side as President Obama is Truman-like in his bashing of the do-nothing GOP Congress.
Very insightful observations Monetfan. I had forgotten about Connally.
I predict there in fact will be a huge influx of voters in November 2012, as the public will make their choice between some semblance of control and raucous mayhem. There will be no silent majority anymore, because the people have been awaken by the "Occupy Wall Street" demonstrators who have singled out the concentration of money and power in stricter, less compassionate hands.
The only place this will be tight is in the Main Stream Media propaganda. They are still madly in love with Oballah. Romney will win in a landslide. Unless the GOP shoots its foot and nominates anyone else.
If they nominate Romney, they better watch out for shooting his foot - he wears flip flops.
I keep telling my kids to pay attention, don't be one of the sheep. Well, the sheep got angry when they really started listening to all the BS being spewed. Hence the Occupy movement. Amy B. is right, there were so many things accomplished until a year ago when the GOP took control of the house.. Compare Pelosis' bills passed record against Boehners', no comparison at all. I ask again --WHERE ARE THE JOBS MR. BOEHNER? He will not promote a rational jobs bill, but lets the house waste a whole day reaffirming "In God We Trust" as the national motto. Who does Herman think he is, telling reporters what they cannot ask. IF he were to be elected what then? OH, tax the poor more, have no policy in place to deal with complex international questions- heck, he can't pronounce the names of some countries. The world population just hit 7 billion and those nuts want "personhood"? That proposal got voted down in Colorado twice, so now they are going after Mississippi. That law is so restrictive that if a woman has a drink or says anything about not wanting to be pregnant and has a miscarriage, she can be charged with manslaughter if she is accused by another person. A doctor will not be allowed to perform a D&C to save the woman because technically, that is an abortion, so she could bleed to death or die slowly from infection. The GOP is going after voting rights, women's rights and redistricting states to their own advantage. They know their agenda is so skewed toward the rich they know the only way they can win is to "stack the deck" in their favor. The highlight of my week was when Boehner called Grover Norquist "some random individual", we all know 90% of the republicans signed that little pledge against raising taxes. I also think the mayors of most of the cities that have the police force wreaking havoc on the Occupy participants are being threatened by the banks with higher interest on borrowed money. Those arrests have nothing to do with safety, in Nashville, the city changed the ordinance on thursday (2 weeks ago) and did not inform the protesters and tried to enforce that change on friday. Thankfully, there is a bench judge there and he did not uphold many of the arrests because the protesters were not informed in advance of the of the change to give them time to comply. Just like in New York when it snowed 2 weeks ago the generators were taken because of "safety issues". If a building owner is in violation of fire code or building violations they are given time to correct those violations, not so Occupy. The fire fighters just rolled in and talked over their shoulder with some drivel about "fire code violations" while they took the generators. Call those people whatever you want, they are still Americans, and they do have the rights the first Amendment gives every American, even if the GOP hates that fact.
The thing is, you don't have to be camping out to be a part of the Occupy movement. It is in the hearts of the 99%. Kind of like the old "silent majority". We will remember what these politicians say. How they voted. The GOP is on the wrong side of this one.
Here in Detroit, the Occupy Detroit people you see on TV are mostly SEIU and UAW people. Its getting cold here and I dont think they will be hanging out too long. We may get some snow later this week, Im guessing snow will make a lot of them go home.
Maybe Michael Moore will show up a few more times to hammer home the fact that the Fleabaggers are really anti-capitalist losers. It's funny that his fat azz shows up at all , what with him being one of the 1% and all.
And maybe the Dems will be as stupid as they were in 2004 and put him up in the VIP box at their convention. That was great since it helped Bush beat Kerry.
So, is anybody going to answer the questions: Why has FR and it's population of Obama groupies not addressed the increasing rampant criminality at the OccuTwit camps? Do you still think it was a good idea for Hussein to associate himself with these people?
Damage123-Mr. Moore grew up in Flint Michigan when things were going well and his father could support his family. I saw him on TV and he admits he is part of the one percent and he also counts himself very lucky to be in that club. He told of Harry Chapin who did 300 concerts a year, and half were for charity. Moore asked him why, and Chapin told him-"One for me, one for them". Mr. Moore said the wealthy have an obligation to make sure things are more fair. He is not a communist before any of you call him that. He does remember when it was more equitable in this country, when one income could support a family. The criminality you speak of is just how things are. There will always be someone that goes against the grain thinking violence makes a better point which it does not. How do any of you know these people are not in opposition to the Occupy movement and go there just to make trouble? How do you know that it is not the police sending indigent people there? How do you know what is in the heart of someone else? You assume much without asking. The only thing I wish the President would do is to say to the law enforcement officers across the country is to be civil, not to over react, that is not "associating" himself with the movement. He would be doing what his oath promised," To preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America so help me God".

One-Termer!!! Get used to it.
Of the toss up states listed, Obama only needs 74 electoral votes to win. How's he doing with a year to go? Not so bad. According to REPUBLICAN LEANING RealClearPolitics, the toss up states break down as listed,
Obama vs. Romney, the most likely matchup, and where Obama does least well, has Obama leading by 7% in Colorado (9), 3% in Michigan (16), 7% in New Mexico (5), 4% in Ohio (18), 9% in Pennsylvania (20), and 4% in Wisconsin (10). That's 78 electoral votes from the toss ups, more than enough to reach 270. Plus, Nebraska splits their electoral votes by Congressional district, so Obama will pick up the usual two there, and Obama and Romney tie in Nevada (6), although he doesn't need either Nevada or Nebraska.
Romney only holds a one point lead in Florida, Iowa, North Carolina, and Virginia. But Obama doesn't need any of those states to win if the above results hold. And Romney hasn't really been scrutinized the way the other GOP candidates have been, yet. Assuming that the economy improves, even just a little bit, and I don't see Obama having much chance to lose this one.
Romney had better get his butt to Iowa and lay some groundwork, because if he loses little Iowa in the general election, he has no chance of winning the electoral vote count, barring a major downturn in the economy. And it appears that, despite all the wishes of the Republicans, the economy is improving on its own.
Your spot on MkeMike. Kasich in Ohio. Scott in Florida. Walker in Wisconsin. Snyder in Michigan. These radical governors are hated and are doing more to swing their states back to Obama than anything the Obama campaign could do.
We have 9.1% unemployment. The question the GOPers should be asking is: If American's were blaming Obama, why are talking about the 2012 race being a toss up? Shouldn't polls show Obama being blown out now?
The logical part of me says that this GOP field is a scam being perpetrated by those that would like to broker the GOP convention and put in their own candidate. (Huckabee, Christie, Rubio, etc.)
Why else would the Koch's be financing Herman Cain or Rick Perry, except as a foil to Romney? A two person race with the other midgets thrown in would guarantee that no one has enough delegates at the GOP convention, allowing them to pick and choose their own candidate, without all the early mudslinging.
I think there is enough evidence for this out there. Just that no one is saying it now because it renders the whole primary/caucus process worthless, and their ability to get free air time to hammer Obama would be eliminated. It would be just like those RINOs to see the announced candidates rise and fall, and they disenfranchise the primary/caucus voters at the convention. Remember, after the first ballot, it's wide open.
I wonder how the TeaPublicans, Herman Cain, Michele Bachmann, Ron Paul, Newt Gingrich, and Romney supporters will react when the GOP nomination is snatched away and they realize that they've all been scammed? Not very nicely I'll bet. I suspect a lot of them will stay home and watch Obama's landslide on TV unless they think that having their candidate get a Cabinet post is worth all of their wasted efforts and money. Either way, it won't matter. There aren't enough wealthy GOP types to carry this election. They need the WallMart shoppers.......and you can't fool all of the people all of the time....
MkeMike - You taking any bets on football games? If so, I'd like some of that action.
Hell, you lose money betting on instant replays!
If the republicans have a good candidate, it will be a "slam dunk" and hopefully we will be rid of the disfunction! Vote for change in 2012! 1 termer is corect!
The Florida tea party is pretty peeved at the GOP right now. I wouldn't be counting on their support just now.
Lets just sit back and do nothing. While hundred of thousands of people unemployment benefits ran out. Over 35% of the people are skipping out on their medical bills. Jobs went overseas for cheap wages and not coming back. We have too many people not enough to go around. Its time to stop kicking the can and get real. Support the GOP 2012 maybe they can't start another war to get rid of some of these people.
Even at 9% unemployment, 91% of people are working. Obama saved us from a Bush depression, and the economy continues to rebound, despite the best efforts of Republicans who want to see us all fail.
The GOP wants to put us into a race to the bottom, and make us like China, where average people work for .33/day with no benefits. If that's their idea of a job, they might as well fold up shop and close down. Not to mention the horrible pollution that China lives in.
The banks and bankers caused this last economic downturn with overspeculation in the housing markets and foreign loans. DO NOT put them in charge again. The GOP is their mouthpiece and needs to be ridden out of Washington. Then, we can focus on those Democrats that don't get the message, either.
Government is not the problem. Greed is the problem. Using government to reward businesses with tax breaks and loopholes and corporate welfare is the problem. That's the GOP plan.
"The Obama administration has also brought the unemployment rate down by more than 1% from its peak of 10.1%"
Not really, it is just where they get the statistics from, what they allow to be used to obtain the "statistical" data, etc. Businesses are still closing, people are still getting laid off, jobs are still (very) few and hard to come by, plus a big percentage of those who did get jobs are underemployed.
As far as the elections go, the first question everyone asks should be: Does this candidate qualify as a Domestic enemy of the USA; either passively or actively? (Domestic enemies pursue legislation, programs against the powers of the Constitution. They destroy and weaken the Rights of the people guaranteed by Constitution; plus create laws, etc that goes against the restraint on the 3 branches of our government by the Constitution. They are also those who support or allow this to go on).
Pretty important that the candidates we will be voting for have the best interests of our country and the American people as the most important thing on their agenda.
I really don't think the 2012 presidential race is going to be that tight.
The GOP propaganda machine got everybody going in November 2010, but now we've seen what the current GOP leaders are about,....obstructionism, my-way-or-the-highway,...corporate welfare,....holding the nation hostage.
I believe the U.S. public wants to see the middle and lower classes treated with some fairness and dignity,...as in the not too distant past. We are going to come together in 2012, and given president Obama more time to fight he way through roadblocks of financial tyranny that have been advanced over the past 10 years.
No one said it was going to be easy, and everyone can see that the conservative propaganda machine is working 24/7 to stop any and all social reform on behalf of the corporate welfare slave masters.
Vote Barak Obama in 2012,...unless of course YOU are a millionaire.
I wouldn't vote Obama for dog catcher. He is a domestic enemy of the USA under our Constitution (Domestic enemies pursue legislation, programs against the powers of the Constitution. They destroy and weaken the Rights of the people guaranteed by Constitution; plus create laws, amendments, etc that goes against the restraint on the 3 branches of our government by the Constitution. They are also those who support or allow this to go on).
Then for his part since 2009 in Fast and Furious; Obama, Holder, and the rest are traitors and murderers under our US laws. Providing foreigners (with malicious intent towards the USA) with weapons, which were then used on US soil to murder and injure Americans equals traitorous behavior and also qualifies as murder. We only know of the latest victims of this behavior; not how many times it has happened since 2009.
Then how can he be destroying the nation as Conservatives here maintain every day?
That's OK, we're used to Conservatives circulating multiple, conflicting narratives at the same time, hoping to appeal to multiple audiences. Conservatism isn't about consistency of thought or principle, it's a marketing effort consisting of a series of independent messages intended to sell policies beneficial to the wealthy elites.
Amazing. I cannot post the meaning of domestic enemies of the USA. They take it off immediately.
"Domestic enemies pursue legislation, programs against the powers of the Constitution. They destroy and weaken the Rights of the people guaranteed by Constitution; plus create laws, etc that goes against the restraint on the 3 branches of our government by the Constitution. They are also those who support or allow this to go on."
I think that every voter should understand what one is, and check the candidates to see if any or all qualifies as one. Those running for office, or even those already within office should have America and her people first instead of "divided loyalties" with the highest being non America/Americans.
Ron Paul 2012!
