Cain camp: 'It just took him a while to gain his bearings'

Responding to Herman Cain's shaky answer to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's question on Libya, his campaign said the candidate was operating on just four hours of sleep.

“The video is being taken out of context," said spokesman JD Gordon. "He was taking questions for about 30 to 40 minutes on four hours of sleep. He didn’t say anything wrong or in accurate; it just took him a while to recall the specifics of Libya.”

Gordon added, “It just took him a while to gain his bearings.”

The campaign's official position is that President Obama mishandled Libya, and that the Europeans should have taken the lead, since Libya is vital to their interests and not a vital interest to the United States. (However, that is what ultimately took place -- Europeans and NATO took the lead in military operations and assistance.)

The campaign also said there is concern that factions of Al Qaeda are part of the opposition leadership, and that the outcome of the conflict is still less than certain.

Seriously... who comes up with this stuff!

It is one excuse after another with this clown!

Good thing they didn't spring a gotcha question on Hermie, like which continent is Libya located on! lol

I don't know about the rest of you, BUT I don't want someone who has to find his bearings anywhere near the Oval Office!

The Cain Train has officially derailed!

*waves good-bye to the caboose*

If you look up "low-information voter" you will now see Herman Cain's photo.

I don't care about his birth certificate, but I would be interested to see if he has voted over the years, because he strikes me as politically apathetic. I don't care about his grades, but I would like to know if he took geography, history, and public policy classes. I'd like to see Katie Couric ask Cain who his favorite founding father is and why. I doubt he could answer it, and would fall back on his same old claim that you put people on your staff to know this stuff.

You don't win elections on foreign policy, but you can lose if you're not viewed as Commander in Chief. With global issues SO important right now, this is especially the case. Hagen Daz Black Walnut is no longer available, and Cain is done too.

President Obama has been settling scores which Raygun started! Raygun did'nt have the Smarts to see Iran, Bin-Laden & Gadaffi attacking us, he just wanted to give Arabs-Muslims the Weapons to help him Defeat Communism, in turn, they used those Weapons against America!

None of these LooneyToons from the GOP have any idea about how to execute America's so-called War On Terror.

It's a daum good thing that Foreign Policy is'nt negotiated with Congress in Most cases, because this Congress would certainly Screw this up also.

What a Guy.

Think Progress: Unlike Rick Perry’s infamous “opps” moment, Cain doesn’t appear to have a momentary brain lapse, but seems to be genuinely befuddled by the substance of the question. Last month, Cain said he had studied up on foreign policy and “challenge[d] anybody who says I wouldn’t know how to address foreign policy.”

While becoming the next commander in chief is looking increasingly unlikely for Cain, he has a backup plan. This weekend, he said he would like to be secretary of defense so he could “kick the you-know-what out of everyone in the world.”

OMG!

White House phone rings at 3 a.m. President Cain, wearing sleeping cap, wakes up and answers.

On the other line is Secretary of State Hillary Clinton: "Mr. President, Iran is launching nuclear weapon at us. What should we do?"

Cain: " I need to discuss this with my advisors." Yells at lumps in bed. "Get up you guys Iran is attacking

us what should I do?"

Romney wearing cap wakes up: "We need to use force against Iran prepare our troops. Where is my comb?"

Paul w/cap wakes up: "We need to assemble congress to vote on military action!"

Cheney w/cap wakes up next to Paul but struggles. Paul reaches over and inserts battery into Cheney's heart.

Cheney: "Waterboard Ahmadinejad!"

Huntsman w/cap wakes up: "Where's my toothbrush?"

Newt w/cap wakes up: "Get a copy of my book for great advice on this situation."

Michelle wakes up next to Cain: "Markus is that you with your hands up my jammies?"

Cain quickly moves hand and pushes lump on other side: "Hey Rick! wake up I need you advice!"

Perry: Snores loudly.

ONE HOUR LATER:

Hillary Clinton;" I need your answer now Mr. President!"

Cain: "Hold your horses Princess! I need more time. Hey guys what should we do?"

Paul: "Congress needs to vote first!"

Cheney: "Waterboard Ahmadinejad!"

Romney to Huntsman: "You got your toothpaste on my comb!"

Huntsman to Romney: "You got hair all over my toothpaste!"

LIGHTS OUT! BIG EXPLOSION!

Perry wakes up from under ash covered bedspread. Stretches, yawns and looks around: OOPS!"

Here's the real question, why did Obama let Iran build it in the first place? Maybe he didn't want to deal with it and just kicked the can to the next President. You know dealing with Iran is a hard job.

And now he has to answer to Michele Bachmann. When asked how to describe in ice cream flavors his fellow GOP candidates, he said Michele Bachmann was more like tutti-fruitti - and then he said he would probably get in trouble for saying that.

He was probably tired when he said that as well. Wonder what Ms. Bachmann will have to say. Can't wait. LoL.

Two interesting points here from the article....

(However, that is what ultimately took place -- Europeans and NATO took the lead in military operations and assistance.)

The campaign also said there is concern that factions of Al Qaeda are part of the opposition leadership, and that the outcome of the conflict is still less than certain.

I take it that the first comment was from the writers of the article above and does not fully understand the roll the US played. The US provided the material assistance and support along with the presence of the US mediterranian fleet offshore of libya. To suggest that The US had no input into the NATO operations after the first two weeks is not correct. Interesting how NATO and the US went from an enforcement of a no fly zone to one of direct ground support of the libyan freedom fighters.

The second comment is in reality a truthful one. The US does not know what the end game will be in libya, just as it doesn't know what the end game will be in egypt, uganda, syria, yemen or any other mideast sovereign nation.

One thing for sure is that obama still starts off one way and before long he changes his tune to whatever is politically expedient in either foriegn or domestic affairs. Like mohhamid ali floating like a butterfly from point to point he has yet to sting like ali except when it comes to sanctioning assasinations.

I am sorry that making defense contractors wealthier and killing more American soldiers by getting us into and staying in long drawn out wars isn't on his agenda. Every one of those situations had better motives in going into than Iraq did.

so marc - you contend that obama didn't make nice to any mideast leaders (including kaddafi) as well? You must have forgotten all about his mideast tour and speech in egypt. Obviously you didn't read the above story or understand what it says.

I am so sorry to hear that bush is your hero, his term of office expired in jan 2009. Please do try to keep up.

Tell us sweety on when it has become the right of any soveriegn power or leader to publicly sanction assasinations? Isn't America founded on the "rule of law"? I won't miss any taliban, al quada, terrorist or dictator but I will draw the line at having a government publicly support assasination. Might just as well have the police do the same to criminals caught red handed with the proverbial smoking gun.

Just remember marc, what goes around, comes around.

Perry needs a good night sleep before debates. Cain only had 4 hours of sleep so he has to get his bearings. We do not need a Commander in Chief who needs 8 hours of sleep every night or he or she can't think straight. I see these clowns won't be answering any call at 3:00 in the morning and if they do they won't be able to think to make a decision for the good of the country. What if Iran decided to let loose with one and we call the President what will he or she say oh hold that thought until I finish my 8 hours sleep, take a shower, brush my teeth and get a cup of coffee. So all you Cain supporters who rallied around him on that sexually harassment kerfuffle and gave him your hard earned dollars, do you now what a refund? He blamed the media, the democrats, the Perry camp and the women themselves for that outing. Who can he blame for this question and answer session that any other candidate would have answered with some kind of knowledge? Well, his camp blamed his lack of rest and Cain blames it on him gathering his thoughts, now the latest is it was just a pause. Hell, he even broke Perry's record. Like I said before, Cain is doing the Palin; he's not serious and is milking this for the money.
