Republican presidential candidate and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman greets voters before speaking at a town hall meeting Saturday in Thornton, N.H.
HANCOCK, HUDSON & CONCORD, NH -- As an increasingly confident Jon Huntsman campaigned across New Hampshire 'til the final hours of New Year's Eve hitting house party after house party, he predicted that the New Hampshire primary will come down to a two candidates: himself and Mitt Romney.
"You know what, in the end, it is going to be a two man race. You just wait until next week rolls around," Huntsman said at a packed house party in Hancock. "I know I'm the underdog but New Hampshire loves an underdog!"
As he gave speeches from sun-up to sundown, the former Utah governor seemed to find a new, more concise rhythm. With it, he vigorously trumpeted his foreign policy experience as ambassador to China, telling voters, "We need someone who understand the complicated world. Because it is not going to get less complicated anytime soon."
He also swiped Romney directly. When asked by a voter in Concord why he would be a better choice over front-runner Romney, Huntsman replied, "How about a consistent core?"
Huntsman later called Romney a "good man" but quickly added, "I haven't been on three sides of every issue."
Huntsman -- who opted this summer to skip the Iowa caucuses entirely -- has made a grassroots gamble on the Granite State, where he hopes to attract a large number of independent and undeclared voters. His seven-event march across New Hampshire was a classic example of retail campaigning on a shoestring budget. The strategy has begun to yield larger audiencesafter a summer of thinly attended events. However, due to anemic fundraising, Huntsman has been forced to rely on outsiders to put television advertisements on the air on his behalf.
Friday, his town-by-town effort was bolstered by a $300,000 ad buy from the pro-Huntsman Our Destiny PAC, an unaffiliated super PAC that has received contributions from his billionaire father who is a chemicals magnate in Utah. This was the third major buy by Our Destiny. Yet, in the most recent New Hampshire poll by NBC News/Marist, Huntsman remains in fourth place behind Romney, Ron Paul, and Newt Gingrich.
When asked about his lagging poll numbers versus his high intensity efforts, Huntsman balked.
"I don't want to do what Bachmann, Perry, Cain and everybody else did.
They've all gone from 25 percent down to two. I don't want that. No way, no how. I want a steady substantive rise based on real ideas," he said in Hancock.
Sunday, Huntsman kicks off the new year as the only major candidate in New Hampshire with three campaign stops.

Sorry but Huntsman is the best of them all, Repubacons balked at Huntsman all because he was appointed by Obama as ambassador to China. The Tea Retards don't like him because he will not sign that pledge to Grover Norquist. Huntsman is a man of integrity and honor and he doesn't like tea and l respect him for that. The GOP voters are fools- this man is your best bet, don't be blinded by the Kocheads.
Huntsman has a legitimate chance to beat Obama, and draw independent voters. Too bad he's not "right enough" for the Tea Party.
Ron Paul and his isolationist policies make him unelectable.
Ron Paul also has a decade worth of racist newsletters that are attributed to his name. That won't endear him to the significant population of the USA that isn't white (in addition to pissing off a lot of equality-minded whites).
Huntsman is the best candidate the Repubs have come up with and the only candidate qualified to deal with China. He's not perfect, he doesn't seem to have the same deep acquaintance with America's problems that Ron Paul and occasionally O'Bachmann have but he was reelected to the governor's house in Utah with almost 78% of the vote and consistently got miraculous approval ratings of 70%+. Huntsman is, by far, the least of the evils.
This GOP candidate is the only one who has any chance of getting in the White House.

They are a known quantity, which is a big advantage.
Paul will not get the nod. He has ideas that Dems agree with. Death sentence. His economic ideas would, in fact, destroy the global economy. Taking a trillion dollars out of the budget in one year would cause chaos. This constitutes 7% of GDP. A 7% drop in GDP means massive layoffs in an already shaky economy. This would be the worst drop in GDP in over 25 years. The first quarter of 2009 saw a drop annualized at 5.7%. You saw what that got us. If we have another round of 2009-10, Europe, which is already playing brinksmanship, is a gone goose.
None of this addresses his desire to quash the Fed. Basically, he wants the pre FDR banking system. He also wants the gold standard back. Playing with our currency in this way is beyond dangerous. If the Fed gets killed, I'd never put my money in the bank again, because it could disappear overnight in a run, and it would, because killing the Fed would cause a run on every bank in the country.
We have fundamental problems which require addressing. The elephant in the room is a sustainable economy. After that, we have the need to develop clean energy, and there is the need for jobs and major infrastructure overhaul. This means dumping the Bush tax cuts. This should be done on the well to do first, but when the economy improves, we will all have to pay more, and it may be that rates on the wealthiest will have to be raised again.
The Bush tax cuts are responsible for a huge chunk of the deficit. This money has to be recovered to pay down the debt.
When the economy improves, there will have to be cuts in government. Infrasructure spending will have to go up, sooner rather than later, and that will have to be sustained. Money will have to be pumped into education. We are going to pay for the cuts of the last few years for a generation. Historically, the deficits created by budget cuts are never made up. Unless this changes, the costs down the road will be enormous. More should be done to ensure young adults graduate college without a crushing debtload. That debt is a drag on the economy, as well as an unfair burden. The military budget needs to take a big whack. It is twice what it should be, and with wars winding down, there is no reason to continue exorbitant expenditures. Medicare should be re-evaluated, but rather than paying doctors less, there should be requirements to do more with low tech solutions, including diet and exercise. There should be clearer guidelines for expensive tests, especially MRI and CAT scan.
In any case, there's more than one way to go about this. Turning the economy upside down should not be one of them. No one would like living in a pre 1910 world in terms of labor laws, et al, except the rich. ANd there would be even fewer of them after a while because those laws helped this country grow, by helping to increase the middle class. No middle class= no economic growth. Not a good plan. The free market does not exist, and it shouldn't because it doesn't work. Boom and bust economies mean lots of misery. Putting a stop to speculation before it gets out of hand is a necessity. It is speculation that causes most downturns. Time to stop worshipping at the altar of wealth and do something constructive.

And what, pray tell, will the $1 trillion be cut from? Social Security? No. The American People have been paying into it their whole lives. Medicare? No. It's unthinkable to even consider letting the poor die of cheaply-treatable diseases. We could stop having wars in the Middle East, but the Teabags would never go for that. You could restore the tax structure to the Clinton levels, but the rich demand a free ride. You could tax the Church, but the Teabags won't go for that either.
Huntsman is the only republican candidate that can defeat Obama but the republicans are to stupid to go for him so Obama will win this year.
Last summer, I predicted that the Teapublicans would eliminate, in the primaries, any candidate who would stand a chance against Obama. Seems there are some who agree with me...
I'd like to point out to all of my friends and family in the State of NH that only Mr. Romney and Mr. Santorum appear to be the most honest of all the current presidential candidates. I realize these men have disparate wealth comparatively to your own salaries, but we're running out of time here, and I know that you will put your vote forth for the better person.
Please refrain from encouraging Ayotte or Shaheen as a running mate for any presidential candidate and well...you know why.

Huntsman is too sane and reasonable for the modern Christian GOP. He simply doesn't hate his fellow human being NEARLY enough. He also doesn't want to turn the citizens into corporate serfs. He's also not interested in creating a Christian Taliban government. So... he doesn't stand a chance in 2012.

I hate to have to point this out to you, but as far as being a supporter, why don't you look up Norquist. His wife's family is Muslim and Norquist himself is a supporter of the Mosque as well as Muslims in general (and gays as well). Almost makes me want to like the guy. Just look up info about him, you may be surprised. And all the candidates, except Huntsman, have signed his pledge, as have most republican candidates. So, if being a Muslim supporter is your criteria, good luck finding republicans to support!

If B. Hussein Obama couldn't handle the job of being POTUS, then he should've never run for it in the first place. I mean this is the Leftist, Liberal, Socialist, Marxist, Democrat, "Community Organizer" who promised that he would cut the U.S. Federal Deficit IN HALF by the end of his first term (He's doubled it in less than THREE YEARS) as POTUS.
He promised that his Obamacare, socialized medicine scheme, would decrease the cost of health care and health insurance once passed and since its passage, the cost of health care and health insurance has gone nothing, but UP.
B. Hussein Obama also promised he would close down GITMO, which he never did and won't ever do.
He also promised that if the U.S. Economy didn't turn around in three years, from him taking office as POTUS, then his presidency would likely be a "one term deal." We have to NOT ALLOW the Leftist, Liberal, Socialist, Marxist, Democrats to "change the subject" or try to distract the American electorate from focusing ON OBAMA's MISERABLE RECORD OF FAILURE WITH REGARDS TO THE U.S. ECONOMY AND JOBLESSNESS. We must force them to do what they already know themselves they cannot do and that's to DEFEND B. HUSSEIN OBAMA'S MISERABLE RECORD AS POTUS.

I dare say that the reason by Obama's three years have been a failure is because he continued TOO MANY of Bush's failed policies. Obama isn't nearly progressive enough for me. What is wrong with this picture? B. Hussein Obama has played 90 rounds of golf, however, his visit Thursday, December 29, 2011 to Pear Harbor was the first time since becoming Commander-in-Chief. December 7, 2011 marked the 70th Anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor and the death of more than 2400 Brave, American Souls. However, B. Hussein Obama was no where to be found. Yet, he manages to visit Peal Harbor for the first time in between rounds of golf and shaved ice with the family while on vacation in Hawaii? As fate would have it, there were reporters there, imagine that!!
The president and first lady, Princess Michelle Obama visited the USS Arizona Memorial, where they observed a moment of silence in a room in which the names of crew members who died 70 years ago this month have been inscribed.
B. Hussein Obama, who visited the memorial before he was President in 2008, did not make any remarks at the memorial, according to a report. But he and the Princess dropped white and purple orchids onto the sunken battleship.
What an example he has sets as supposed Commander-in-Chief. At some point this guy will pay a political price for using the U.S. Military as a political prop. We'll remember in November (2012)!!!!

Bush was in office, because the U.S. Economy, U.S. Joblessness and skyrocketing U.S. National Debt and skyrocketing U.S. Budget Deficit is higher than all of the other U.S. Presidents in American history...combined!!! This "Community Organizer" hasn't a da*ned clue what the h*ll he's doing and only knows how to pit one American versus another.
And go on lavish, separate-from-his-wife/children thus costing that much more, expensive U.S. Taxpayer-financed vacations and golf outings, when he's not busy standing up for and publically supporting the Ground Zero Islamic Mosque construction, calling Police Officers stupid. (See Cambridge, Mass Police Dept in whom B. Hussein Obama called them "stupid" for arresting his Left wing Kooky Goon Buddy, Henry Louis Gates Jr.), or bowing way down to Saudi Arabian Sultans and Japanese Emperors.
Yeah, America really messed up electing someone who has no business being a County Dog Catcher, much less the Leader of the Free World. However, one good thing about American Presidential Elections is they come back every four years and on Nov. 6th, 2012, a great majority of the American electorate who love this country will vote out the worst mistake ever called President in American History.
