Obama's TV ads to go up soon?

First Read can report that the Obama re-election campaign is requesting rates for a potential -- and significant -- TV ad buy.

Caveat: This doesn't mean that we'll soon see the ads; they could end up deciding to wait. But what Team Obama is doing is the first step in putting something on TV.

It's worth noting that - with all of the TV ads from the GOP presidential candidates and their Super PACs (in states like IA, NH, FL) - millions of dollars have already been spent hitting Obama over the airwaves.

Feisty,

And we are getting that ad plus the Koch Brothers - Americans for Prosperity $6 million ad buy against President Barack Obama on Solyndra. The ads will run in Ohio and other swing states from Monday, Jan. 16th (yesterday) through the Jan. 24th State of the Union.

Obama ads litereally ought to write themselves.

Definately must, must, must tought his primary achievements: 1. Obamacare, and 2. the stimulus 'saved the economy/created 5 billion jobs and of course kept unemployment under 8%.

Plus hit the Iraq pullout and the godtimes in Libya. Say, how is it going in those two fine countries right now?

He is going to run on his record, right.

Shoot being one of the best presidents evah means never even having to acknowledge his opponent.

Sell what he's done, and promise 4 more years.

Easy, peasy, fresh and easy.

Gee, but the ads pointing out the similarities between Obama and Romney's policies are doing such a good job of battering Romney - Obama can save his money!

PS Have I said how much I love listening to Romney's opponents attack his work with Bain Capital?

Newt Gingrich assailed Mitt Romney’s business background of buying and selling companies at the investment firm Bain Capital, saying Sunday afternoon that the work was comparable to “rich people figuring out clever legal ways to loot a company.”

So much of President Obama's "war chest" has come from small, individual donations, which is more than any Teapublican wannabe can claim. But Citizen's United clearly comes from the right-wing and the right-leaning SCOTUS, and what's good for conservatives is good for progressives too (and that goes for the filibuster and any other crock of crap they sling). Got to love Colbert and Stewart with their Super PAC.

All the lies about the stimulus or Affordable Care Act will be blown out of the water with a few simple ads -- Showing all the GOP/TP candidates raising their hands against a 10 to 1 ratio of spending cuts to tax revenue, and lest we forget, all the candidates on record in support of Paul Ryan's privatization of Medicare, and heck the list is too long, but there's plenty of excellent verbatim fodder that Dems don't need to make up anything.

I especially like Romney's "corporations are people" quote, but also debate gaffes like how hiring illegals would be bad for his image, and did folks catch the most recent one about how he would answer the questions when he was damn well ready to answer it? Mr. Snippy likes to be surrounded by "yes men" we can all see that.

There won't be any reaching across the aisle, appointing Robert Gates in Defence, or Ray Lahood in Transportation, or Jon Huntsman as Ambassador to China, even a try for Judd Gregg in Commerce. No, there will be "My Way or the Highway" like we've never seen in the dangerous mire of groupthink that will bring us more unnecessary war and other catastrophes. Not to mention appointments to the SCOTUS, by someone who believes corporations are people (they all do, Romney just forgot to turn of his inner monologue).

Bring it on. Throw the Teapublicans out -- Obama/Biden - 2012!

Why waste money on ads? The Republicans are doing that themselves. Like AL Sharpton said: "Why turn a suicide into a murder"?

Mitt Romney is stuttering every time that he is asked to show his income tax returns. I am sure that he is "cooking "the books to look good for this year. Wait until he goes in front of the people of Occupy Wall Street. So far the only people listening to him have been "citizens" from red neck nations.

OK, except those 1 MILLION DOLLAR donations required to get into the sky box at BofA stadium...I digress, they also offer a 500k option for those down on their luck.

Dream all you want, both sides can talk all they want about super PAC's, and not wanting to take corporation money. At the end of the day BOTH sides of the aisle will end up accepting that money, it will just be in a different way.

I'm certain Obama's ads will talk about his stellar record, how he has risen above partisan politics and brought the country together, how Guantanamo Bay is now one of his shiny successes, how fairness has occurred by him letting the Bush tax cuts expire, how he once called Bush II raising of the debt ceiling as "lack of leadership" and him doing the same as "political courage", how the everyday man/woman has been a part of his administration (if the everyday man/woman was from Wall Street that is), and how his signature legislation ObamaCare will soon be purged forever from the country by the Supreme Court.

All this while nice patriotic music will be playing in the background.

And when this ad is done, the rest of ones coming will blame everything on Bush and Congress (of which his party held all of for two years and half for another), causing the Pavlovian Liberals to get whiplash from nodding their heads.

Hmm, let's see now. Though deficits are not the number concern of most Americans (jobs and economic recovery are most important), the president has offered hugh spending cuts including changes to entitlements--remember the Big Deal turned down by Teapublicans (more than once) because they wouldn't even end loophole tax evasion?

The President has offered a Jobs Plan, has worked to decrease costly military engagements by bringing troops home from Iraq, and now the president wants to merge government agencies, and wants to provide incentives for creating/keeping jobs in the US, and well...what solutions have the good-for-nothing-Teapublicans proposed?

The real explaining we need is from the GOP/TPand their "weak field" of presidential candidates (yes, that's right because Romney lost to McCain, and McCain lost to President Obama, so now Teapublicans plan to go with their second string?). We already know the Republicans have NO plan for anything other than to obstruct. Oh sure, they give lip service to it, pushing for the same old failed Race to the Bottom on Steroids policies.

The Bush tax cuts are set to expire, and by default that would be the first step in the right direction, second to ending the war in Iraq. No, the president has nothing to explain, nothing to you or the other simpletons in the country -- Look to your own pitiful Greedy One Percent (GOP) Party for that.

True Patriot, your answer does not answer my question. The President vowed, unconditionally, to cut the federal deficit in half by the end of his first term. To keep his promise the 2012 federal deficit cannot exceed 229.27 billion dollars. I do not get a strong feeling that the President is going to keep his promise because his own White House is projecting that he will not. I want to specifically know how the President is going to keep his promise. I do not want him to forget about this promise like he has so many others. For example, I am still waiting to watch the President and my congressman, on CSPAN, go over the health care bill "line by line" as the President promised and as my congressman requested.

Republicans will be the ones talking in Democrat ads. They have said and done enough offensive things to offend everybody in the country, and scare them too. Thanks for the memories. The president will take the high road and stress ideas, not falsehood and smear that has been the habit of Republicans. Substance appeals to the American people, not substance abuse. Undereducated bigots will still hope for blood, but end up holding a scab.

          Toyota,

During the 8 years of the Bush administration the National Debt increased by about 4 trillion dollars, not 10 trillion dollars. President Obama said how bad it was that the Bush administration ran such huge deficits and I agree with him yet the Obama administration has been running record setting deficits. The President vowed to cut the deficit in half by the end of his first administration. For the President to keep his promise the 2012 federal deficit cannot exceed 229.27 billion dollars. Anyway Bush is not the current President, Obama is. I want the current President to explain how we are goint to pay back all of this money that we have borrowed.

Will - The difference is the state of the Union when Bush took over and what Obama inherited. Bush inherited a sound economy on course to eliminate the entire debt in 4 years, and Obama inherited a financial situation comparable to 1929.

Now, he could have done what Herbert Hoover did from 1930 to 1933, which resulted in 25.6% unemployment, or did what those who studied the great depression and advised him how to avoid a depression.

Now if Obama had inherited a situation like Bush and he ran up the deficit like this, I'd be all for firing him. But, if what he did was limit unemployment three years later to 8.5% instead of 25.6% well, that's a much different story. See he saved your job..

And paying back the money starts in 2013 with the first 1 trillion they cut, followed by the 1.2 trillion they are required to cut, and letting the Bush tax cuts expire, or use the Bush Tax cuts to leverage a grand bargain.....and if we can oust enough republicans we just might be able to do that. Regardless we are on track to make significant cuts starting in 2013...

President Obama did not inherit anything. He ran for and won the presidencyafter Bush. If he was not prepared to deal with the situation then he should never have taken the oath of office. The President promised that if the stimulus bill were passed, unemployment would not rise above 8% and fall considerably below that in later years. The bill was passed but what the President promised did not happen. The President said that he was against deficit spending yet ran some of the largest federal deficits ever recorded. The President vowed to cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term. For the President to keep his promise the 2012 federal deficit cannot exceed 229.27 billion dollars but according to the White House that is not happening. I want the President to show the American people that he really understands the debt situation by explaining exactly what it is going to take for the federal government to pay back all of the money that it currently owes and is continuing to borrow.

Same crummy corporate lobby and vote buying lies with just a different face. Obama is the President who forced everyone onto food stamps. He is content letting the Federal Reserve print as much money as they please, loan it to themselves at 0% interest then buy up all our homes, business's and stocks at 25 cents on the dollar. He let the Federal Reserve also shove $16 TRILLION out the backdoor to Goldman Sachs and European banks between 2009 and 2010. That was $700,000 PER AMERICAN FAMILY.

Obama knows you would rather bailout wealthy European investors than have $700,000. You have to help your banker brothers as the Democrats say. Printing and handing over $16 Trillion was the least we could do to keep them all in power after all the wonderful things the bankers do for us.

Uhhhh.... President Obama does not have to sign every shoved in front of him by a Republican Congress!!! What is he a robot or heavily medicated? He is supposed to be a part of our system of checks and balances not some mindless corporate stooge that passes every lobby owned idea lobbed in front of him. Every single bill the the bankers, military contractors or oil companies placed in front of him.

He also engaged in the coverup of all the meltdown criminals on the highest level. Obama never even "brought up" an investigation into any of the players. The entire global terrorist team just walked away unmentioned with trillions in bailout money. Obama's "financial reform" bill was hand written by the Federal Reserve who Obama put on our team of regulators as a "consumer watchdog". That is like putting the drug cartel on the DEA.

You do realize he has the power to "CUT" as well as spend? He does not even know the meaning of the word cut. Every bit of spending no matter how lame gets approved by Obama.

Libya was NOT Bush's "bills". That baby is an Obama only expense as are all the taxation increases from the ObamaCare bill. Also notice how many of those tax increases are not set to go into effect until after the presidential election in 2012?

                1. A 156 percent increase in the federal excise tax on tobacco

OH...... the $16 TRILLION dollar bailout to foreign banks was ALL OBAMA. That was not even a dream while Bush was in office. That was $700,000 taken from the bank accounts of every American family given to foreign banking crooks. It was the largest financial travesty in the history of this country and was ALL OBAMA.

He fought the audit bill that revealed this $16 trillion swearing there was nothing to reveal. When it was revealed he refused to comment and engaged the press in a massive cover up. Just to show further collusion he allowed the FED to hand out another $600 billion on Dec 25th 2011 as icing on the cake. That is larger than the stimulus package he could not get passed but foreign bankers are.... more important.

were so feeble. They couldn't possibly save for their retirement again. Their company retirement savings went into the pockets of romney who made millions. Now taking care of them is part of obama's deficit.

Here we go with some more Goldman Sachs bailout money for campaigning. By taking Goldman Sachs lobby money Obama is using taxpayer bailout money for his campaign.

The next largest chunk of lobby money comes from the military contractors... once again profits from taxation for deficit run federal defense spending used to lobby for more contracts and profits.

You don't stock up $1 billion dollars in campaign money from poor humble non taxpaying voters. Just look at where all this money came from. All the monster global corporations and all the federal employee unions.

In other words every deficit junkie in the country. All this money pouring into Obama is profits from federal deficit spending coming back around to lobby more deficit spending. This has NOTHING to do with "party politics". It is "lobby politics". You will be voting lobby's into office and not representatives of the people. The lobby's are simply buying access to our Treasury and credit line.

Ron Paul in 30 years never took a dime of corporate or union lobby money. Why you people insist on electing corporate and union backed candidates I have no clue. Look around... who got the most bailout money? Whose bankrupt pensions were put on the taxpayers tab? Who received tens of billions a year in defense contracts? All in a depression. Who financially benefitted from all the overseas invasions? All these people want a rerun of the last 3 years. Since the citizens did not even whimper they know they can crank up the deficit even more.

Follow the money and not the headlines. Party's don't mean anything anymore. It is simply who is funding the party's and those are the same lobby's.

And in 30 years Ron Paul never passed a single bill...not one. Let him run on his accomplishments in Congress. 30 years, nothing passed..

You'd think in 30 years with all those libertarian fews you'd think he'd have sponsored one bill that might pass..just one.

I know that it is trivial but the President promised that the White House dog would be a mutt from a shelter yet the dog he got was a pure bread that has never set foot in an animal shelter. The President is suppose to be the most powerful man in the free world. I want the president to run an ad explaining how he, as the most powerful man in the free world was unable to keep his promise on something as trivial as the White House dog.

Now that the President is coming out blazing with both barrels early in the game. His ammo furnished by these latest GOP debates. The right-wingers elected official that will be running for the office of the President of the United States, won't be protected by his cronies and their 11th commandment. And also they will have to be very carefull with what they say and do. Because President Obama will surely make them "Eat their Peas"... All I can say is that, it's only fair in love, war and politics to expose a hypocryte for what he is and a flip-flopper for being on both side of an issue and having their political party quickly send their spin machine doctors out there to hide their decietful lies. Oh-yeah this is going to be great, now we can see a masterful tactician at work. And the American people will benefit from all of this. Be it good or bad, there won't be any stones for the Gop/T-Pers to crawl under... Because fungus won't be able to flourish when quickly exposed to the light... Game on

                          Alex,

                          Your village called.

Obama is toast. Burnt toast that no one wants to eat anymore. As far as Obama coming out with his cork guns "blazing"....what's he going to do when his attack ads start sounding hollow?? Can't run on his dismal record. I know....he can just say he's present.
