What does being up in a poll have to do with an agenda?
hell if I know, but, I really like the numbers!
I just find it funny how they title these FR's. Making it sound like the polling has something to do with the President's agenda of world domination through Socialism... I'm really scared. :^p
and as Republicans continue eating each other and over reaching with women's reproductive rights, they will continue watching themselves slip in the general election polls.
LouisJ.
No one is pushing a socialist agenda. Not the President. Not anyone in power.
Drop the spoon fed delusions.
The sarcasm of my statement wasn't picked up on some frequencies. Apologies mate.
What a delightful outcome from last night's contests in MO, MN, and CO - then add that to these poll number...pretty sweet!
Colorada was a big surprise. Santorum better watch his back now.
I really thought Ron Paul would do better in Colorado, because I picture that state as Libertarian territory. I'm thinking Paul will win Maine's Republican caucus, but we'll see.
Amy, Colorada is somewhat libertarian. But this is a Republican primary. If they had a Libertarian Party primary and Ron Paul was running, he'd be tough to beat.
That's the thing about Ron Paul. Everyone knows he's not a Republican. He's a Libertarian who ran for Congress as a Republican (and presumably got that opportunity because Galveston, TX isn't exactly in line with the national party, either). And he has brought some former Libertarians with him. But the Republican Party isn't libertarian, and isn't going to nominate a non-Republican for president.
The party is a big tent - both major parties have to be. They'll welcome former Libertarians with open arms. But the numbers eventually will kill most of the distinctly libertarian things those former LPers want to do. Look at the Tea Party evolution. It started out as pretty libertarian, and now isn't.
Paul hasn't sold me on the idea that he is a Libertarian. Too many of his ideas and beliefs are no different than mainstream Republican.
The gold standard, open borders, non-interventionalist foreign policy, legalization of all substances, no federal expenditures beyond what is explicitly spelled out in the Constitution? There isn't very much Republican about those positions.
One of the Ron Paul attributes that his supporters point to is that he's been saying the same things for decades, right? Well, that span of time includes when he was the Libertarian nominee for president.
I think kingofhills staement was more in line with typical liberal thinking, 'he doesnt agree with me so im just gonna lump them all together as teaparty'
That's not it at all. But your response. sure reflects the typical conservative thinking. I don't think either one of you truly understand what a true Libertarian is. You don't pick and choose which of their belief you adhere to and that is what Paul has donme.
If you go to the Libertarians' party website and read their manifesto, then read Pauls comments throught this campaign and his voting record and comments since he has been in Congress, you may get a different picture. Just someone saying they are Libertarian doesn't make them so.
I think Paul is trying to cash in on the growing sentiment for a th.ird party
That's a bit surprising. It is true Virginia is changing as it's population continues to grow faster in Democrat-strongholds than Republican ones. But I thought there was more opposition to the health care law than that here. Maybe it's just the volume of the opposing voices making it seem like more opposition than is really there.
But like many have noted in previous threads, while these polls may provide interesting data points this far out from the general election, they really don't mean much.
Paul,
I agree with you that polls this far out don't really mean much.
What is an important sign is the turnout in Mn last night for the GOP. In 2008: 63,000 conservative base voters turned out. This year less that 25,000 folks turned out to vote in a straw poll with a crowded GOP race.
Where did all the hard core conservatives go?
No one knows and no one cares... wherever it is, leave them there
Just a couple weeks ago the republican/tea bag party was touting the polls. There numbers were up. They were saying it was the end for the President. The republican/tea bag party is having a big W.T.F. moment!
OBAMA BIDEN 2012
Republicans have a problem. They are clueless when it comes to what the majority of Americans want. 11 Southern states and a handful of mid western ones do not a majority make. Math was never a Republican strong suit. Look at W's administration. They forgot to count the wars in their deficits and missed the decline in our economy by three times three. Again, math? Not a Republican thing.
The republicans weakest attribute (even worse than your math idea) is that they dont pander quite as well as demos, they dont hold their pockets open to the banks while crying to the poor poor people that they love so much about the banks.
FYI, your opinion do not a majority make either. Though id be happy to vote democrat if theyd get rid of all the self-interested, selfish, hypocritical liberals
trudat6445,
You are so right! Republicans don't pander to their base. Only to rich folks! That leaves me voting for Democrats this time around. They take money from rich folks, much like Republicans. However, unlike Republicans, their pandering is much more focused on us middle class folks!
So you prefer rhetoric thats full of hypocrisy and lies over sincerity? Youre a good lib.
So you prefer rhetoric thats full of hypocrisy and lies over sincerity? Youre a good lib.
trudat6445,
You are walking proof of rhetoric triumphing over sincerety. What have Republicans done for the poor and middle class? Reduce our wages for 30 straight years, while giving our taxes away as welfare for the rich creating an income gap unlike seen since before the great depression. Proud of that are you? I voted for Reagan who began this rhetoric lacking sincerety and now everyone suffers for my actions. Never again.
So youre saying rhetoric created this mess, thats good becasue democrats/libs seem to think rhetoric will fix it. How naive can you be, the democrats dont care about you, the poor, the middle-class or anyone but themselves, but ignornace is bliss
trudat Do you think the republican/tea bag party rhetoric will fix it? Now how naive can you be, the republican/tea bag party don't care about you, the poor, the middle class or what's left of it, or anyone but the rich ("Job creators") and themselves, but your ignorance is bliss. See it goes both ways. The right doesn't care about you if your income is under 100 thousand dollars. Who does there cuts hurt the most? trudat you have a answer for dat.
These are good numbers, but we are to far out for it to matter! We are going to try and help President Obama carry Virginia! Even if I have to knock on every door in Northern Virginia!
President Obama 2012
Tommy,
Fired up and ready to go!
Obama/Biden 2012
We are an eternity away from the actual election. Yes, Northern VA is becoming politically much more like NY and Philly PA area, but the GOP base is really strong, vocal and ugly. They will fight like mad come November.
We will probably lose Va but GOP will waste a real silly amount of $$$ to get back a state they should have locked up.
I don't know which tea people GOP republican poster posted last week that the tea people GOP republicans had Va. locked up. Care to come back now and expand on your prediction from last week?
Not only is it not locked up, I'm really afraid of what the more ignorant wing-nuts will do if they see VA start to slip away.
I guarantee there will be some kind of ugly "incident" in NoVA somewhere, probably Loudoun or Fauquier Counties, that will embarrass the GOP. Their frustration will be toxic and the reaction will be violent.
Plus we have the added fun of Kaine vs. "Macaca" Allen Senate race at the same time.
Watch out.
Let us hope not! I am going to fight to carry Northern Virginia for President Obama!
The only reason they even have these polls is for politicians to know where to do more work or avoid, they are useless to the common person and mean nothing, when will people learn this.
The only affect they can have on common people is those people that only want to follow trends and vote for winners, aka idiots.
the republicain party is in pieces. They have no hope of winning.
On Friday, the government said employers added 243,000 jobs in January, far more than expected. And unemployment fell for a fifth straight month, to 8.3 percent. Still, 8.3 percent is still painfully high. Nearly 13 million people remain unemployed.
Bernanke told senators that he agrees with an analysis by the Congressional Budget Office that growth would slow to 1.1 percent next year if the so-called Bush tax cuts expire.
Say what?
