COLUMBUS, Ohio -- As Mitt Romney spent Saturday in Salt Lake City celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the Winter Olympics held there, his chief rival in the Republican presidential race is claiming the games are an example of the former Massachusetts governor's hypocrisy.
Stumping in Ohio, Rick Santorum defended himself against Romney's portrayal of the former Pennsylvania senator as a wasteful spender.
It's an attack Romney has repeated on the campaign trail and that a pro-Romney super PAC has made into a TV ad running in Michigan, Ohio and Arizona. The focus is on Santorum's record on earmarks; the ad contends he called for projects that counter the fiscal conservative record he touts on the trail.
But it is the 2002 Olympic Games that Romney gets credit in helping rescue that shows the hypocrisy of the attacks, Santorum said Saturday.
"That tells you that all of these scurrilous attacks — Mitt Romney saying, 'Oh well, Rick Santorum voted for earmarks and promoted earmarks.' What he doesn’t tell you is one of Mitt Romney's greatest accomplishments, one of the things he talks about most is how he heroically showed up on the scene and bailed out and resolved the problems of the Salt Lake City Olympic Games," said Santorum.
"He heroically bailed out the Salt Lake City Olympic Games by heroically going to Congress and asking them for tens of millions of dollars to bail out the Salt Lake games -- in an earmark, in an earmark for the Salt Lake Olympic Games."
Santorum continued, "And now Gov. Romney is suggesting, 'Oh, Rick Santorum earmarked' as he requested almost half a billion dollars in earmarks as governor of Massachusetts to his federal congressmen and senators. Does the word hypocrisy come to mind?"
The Romney campaign was quick to refute the claim. Campaign spokesperson Andea Saul e-mailed reporters, "Sometimes when you shoot from the hip, you end up shooting yourself in the foot. There is a pretty wide gulf between seeking money for post-9/11 security at the Olympics and seeking earmarks for polar bear exhibits at the Pittsburgh Zoo. Mitt Romney wants to ban earmarks, Senator Santorum wants more ‘Bridges to Nowhere.’”
Being attacked on his spending record is not new for the candidate now considered a front-runner in the nomination contest. It was Rick Perry who originally rolled out the attack in Iowa, citing projects like an indoor rainforest and the 'Bridge to Nowhere' in Alaska as proof that Santorum is a Washington insider who did not practice the fiscal conservatism he now preaches. But the attack did not gain much traction, and Santorum went on to win the Iowa caucus.
His defense has always been that — as a member of Congress — Santorum had the power of the purse, and earmarks were at one time a helpful resource.
"So lets just not condemn all...there was abuse, and we stopped it. But the idea that every earmark is a bad one is simply false," he said.

They're both hypocrites and if you vote for either one you're out of your mind. It's fun to watch them though.
Which politician isn't a hypocrite. I think it is a job requirement to tell people what they want to hear, but do nothing of substance.
I believe you are right about all politicians being hypocrites - but I also wonder if we are not partially to blame....
It is true they tell us what we want to hear - but do we always want to hear what we need to hear...
I doubt if there was someone who was running who actually laid out the real picture, the real sacrifices and cuts we would need to turn things around that we would want to listen to it.
I always wonder why when negotiating spending cuts they just don't do across the board cuts. Instead of getting hung up in entitlements, defense or any specific area.....why not just cut a certain % from all areas...
Damn - there must me some solution out there....from all sides.
Has Obama got his super PAC started yet? I mean while were on the subject...
Check out Romney's and Santorum's plans to cut Social Security and Medicare should they be elected:

Remember this fellow seniors and babyboomers come election time!
I wish they would put a balanced budget -5% Amendment on the national ballot.
Social Security? Back in the debt ceiling crisis I heard from the presidents own mouth that if we dont borrow a trillion dollars from China right now that the Social Security, which I pay into, the checks might not go out.
That seemed strange to me since I pay my money to the feds and I live in the USA, but I have to rely on China to cut my check?
It looks like were are up against the debt ceiling again in september (wow he can spend money fast) so I guess we are going to have to borrow another trilliion dollars or get our Social Security cut off?
How bad could Mitts and Ricks plans be compared to that?
You know, if these incredibly stupid republicans candidates would quit attacking each other and go after the incredibly inept Obama and his multitude of failed policies, they might actually win in November. Barry's got to be loving these idiots doing his reelection mudslinging for him.
spider-737231
It is sort of like loading someone's gun so they can shoot you, isn't it?
Actually Neil,
Obama said, in response to the debt ceiling not being raised:"Understand –- raising the debt ceiling does not allow Congress to spend more money," Obama said. "It simply gives our country the ability to pay the bills that Congress has already racked up. In the past, raising the debt ceiling was routine. Since the 1950s, Congress has always passed it, and every President has signed it. President Reagan did it 18 times. George W. Bush did it seven times. And we have to do it by next Tuesday, August 2nd, or else we won't be able to pay all of our bills."
He said: 'I cannot guarantee that those checks go out on August 3 if we haven't resolved this issue. Because there may simply not be the money in the coffers to do it.''This is not just a matter of Social Security checks. These are veterans checks, these are folks on disability and their checks. There are about 70 million checks that go out.'
No where did he say:
China hold's about 8% of US debt.
Spin, baby, spin!
Neil, I hate to say this, but you are either delusional or a very big liar. What crazy right-wing blog did you get that info from? Or did Glenn Beck, Hannity or Limbaugh tell you? What a schmuck.
LOL
Not sure exactly what your disagreeing with, after reading your post it seems to say the same thing mine did but longer, with more punctuation. But since the discussion is about hypocracy...
"Raising the debt ceiling is a failure of leadership" Senator Barack Obama. Although I dont know which way he voted. Present?
And yes, china holds about 8% of the debt, where is the rest? Taken from Social Security of course. No wonder the republicans are obstructionalists(sp?) I would be pretty upset with them if they thought any of this was a good idea.
This was also the issue that brought out some of the most disgusting personal attacks Ive heard from the left, when the Tea Party freshmen were intent on voting no, which they promised their constituents they would do, they were labeled terrorists. For voting their conscience against what they saw as bad policy. 20 year combat veterans voting no on principle. Terrorist. The Obama administration wont even call the Fort Hood extremist muslim mass murderer a terrorist. But Allen West, for voting against the presidents wishes? Terrorist.
Mere deflection from the points FR made above...that BOTH of these politicians are perfectly comfortable grabbing some federal dollars for projects in which they believe, and are hypocritical in criticizing others for what they in fact have done.
Hypocrisy, thy name is Conservative.
Neil, Jo-An's post is the exact opposite of yours. Hers is true, yours comes out of right field, far far right field, and contains NO truth. If you want to continue to look like an idiot keep posting!
Fine then, since hers had quotation marks go with hers, but it still sounds to me like:
Raise the debt ceiling or the checks might not come out, what am I missing?
Ear marks (not all are bad) or federal funds for the Olympics, which may have been provided if held somewhere else in the nation, are less offensive than:
1) Romney/Bain Capital and tax payers picking up the tab for pensions, or Medicare taking a hit to make larger profits.
2) Santorum using tax dollars for home schooling, or supporting Bush-era deficit spending with no "pay fors" or including the cost of the wars in the budget.
And neither want to cut defense spending (or Homeland Security), while both have personally profited from being in government as well as the private sector -- in the case of Santorum as a consultant. Come on, stop throwing little stones at your glass houses, we want to see some big rocks hurled!
Oh and FYI: Obama has to"beg again" this summer to raise the debt ceiling! WHY?? Because the Teabaggers made that one of the "conditions" when they granted it LAST SUMMER!
Mr McConnell said:So what I’ve told my members is that we will have available a back-up plan.'
Under the plan, MR Obama would have to submit a request to Congress to raise the debt ceiling by $700 billion before the August 2 deadline. They could then pass a resolution of disapproval, which could either be signed or vetoed by the president, allowing it to go through.
The second request, for a $900bilion increase, would be in the fall of 2011, and there would be a third, also of $900billion, in the summer of 2012
Of course McConnell threw that that little clause in so that the Republicans can all CRY "He's doing it again, raising the debt ceiling"
And YOU ALL WILL (cry that is)
OBAMA 2012
The debt ceiling issue is about paying off money that has already been committed, not borrowing in order to spend more money. Congress already bought the big screen TV. Raising the debt ceiling is in order to pay the credit card bill, not buy a new TV. Thus, it seems the answer lies in congress's hands as the ones who decide how much gets spent and where. Blaming President Obama and obstructing him for wanting to pay down the credit card seems beside the point and completely counter-productive.
thank you Heartlight!
"Rick Scumtorum is a total "Joke" look at him on the debates, he looks like hes on pain killers"
Ricky Dicky is the male version of Sarah Palin. lol! What a Fool! Keep him talking, boy does he love to talk. Makes Obama sound reserved.
Yes dune - we are the biggest part of the problem. They tell us that they will get things for us, so we elect them. Mostly the ones who are in office get to stay in office do so by giving enough of the voters favorite candy.
You're missing the fact that failing to raise the debt ceiling would have forced the government to run on cash flow, and that would have prevented checks from going out on time.
John B, Des Moines,
helllllloooooo, thank you very much...sometimes, I'm just.....bewildered...
lol
Neil,
What you are missing is that the debt ceiling needs to be raised to cover money we have already spent. The debt ceiling is not controlled with a “debt ceiling” limit or a budget but by controlling the spending and spending is controlled by Congress.
Remember that the Republican controlled House just 2 months ago passed spending bills for 2012 that were over 1 trillion dollars greater than our expected receipts/revenues/income/taxes.
John B -- Nice to see back on the boards!
True Patriot -- That last line was pretty funny!
Seriously, where is the outrage from conservatives about Romney/Bain Capital ripping off Medicare and making tax payers pick up the tab for pension plans? Or Santorum using tax dollars for home schooling? Heck, just the crony capitalism practiced by Teapublicans like Rick Perry who got rich while in office--and Gingrich, Santorum, all have become rich due to holding office.
Did you see the survey showing people who collect Social Security/Medicare, unemployment, etc. don't think they are using an entitlement? Granted Social Security is a trust fund, and unemployment is funded by insurance premiums, but people think only welfare (food stamps), or Medicaid are entitlements that Teapublicans want to end.
Maybe that's why they aren't bothered by Bachmann gaming the foster parent program or Medicare or farm subsidies. Why are these abuses always done by right-wing conservatives? There is also a new report about red states receiving more federal assistance. The very people who yell the loudest about the "government dole."
We're talking boulders here, not little pebbles that are going to crush the glass GOP tent.
True Patriot -- Well said as always.
Keep posting your strong voice is needed to keep the hypocrites in check! ; )
Santorum is calling Romney a hypocrite? How ironic!
Good grief!
If I were preparing a list of all the things Mitt Romney was hypocritical about, earmark would be no higher than number 683.
Jo-An...and this is what Obama said about the debt ceiling:
“The fact that we're here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. Leadership means 'The buck stops here.' Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better. I therefore intend to oppose the effort to increase America's debt limit.” – Senator Barak Obama, D-Ill. – 2006
Dennis..."Remember that the Republican controlled House just 2 months ago passed spending bills for 2012 that were over 1 trillion dollars greater than our expected receipts/revenues/income/taxes."
And it was the Democrat controlled House during Bush's last two years...WHOOPS!!...no, I mean, it was Bush's fault!!!
It's certainly not a job requirement, but when you have a lazy, not-too-bright electorate, that type of campaigning can be VERY effective.
Another campaign strategy that works well: promise people something for nothing.
Other types of campaigns that go over well with fools are lying, and scapegoating groups of non-voters.
The debate between these two has turned into the lesser of two evils. I am not as bad has he would be.
Its sickening to watch the multi millionaires preach to the rest of us how WE needs to make cuts and sacrifices for the good of the country while THEY get richer and richer.
Wait. Whos getting richer and richer? Obama cut a check to GM for 50 billion dollars of my money, he gives away another 10 thousand too everyone who buys a Volt. GM is now back in record profits territory, gushing cash even, all of the Union Auto workers are getting 7 thousand dollars as a reward for sucking GM dry.. Well thats OK as long as GM pays its fair share. Oh darnit, they paid zero in taxes.
Wait. Whos getting richer and richer? Obama and his jobs czar(emelt CEO of GE) shoveled billions of dollars iin stimulus money into GE and they turned a 18 BILLION dollar profit and created THOUSANDS of jobs in China. Well these things happen. as long as they pay their fair share. Whats GEs fair share anyway? I cant remember excactly but I know it was less than a dollar.
Wait. Hypocrite? Mitt Rommney used his own money with no handouts from Obama and had a really good year, but hes attacked because he only paid how many MILLIONS in income tax?
Yea, good ol Mitt, "$$$million's for me, a pink slip for thee."
The wealthy elites that the GOP represents, that's who. Over 3 decades of Supply Side economics have decimated the ability of the government to make beneficial investments in the future and gradually impoverished the American middle class as increasing amounts of wealth have been funneled to the top 1%.
Neil Murphy I am glad that you are wealthy enough to single handly allow OUR government to give your money to a single company. You must surely be a billionaire. You realize that GM has paid back half of the money they borrowed already and on track to pay it all back. They have the ability to share profits with the hard working people on the line making the cars. Of course you and your Rolls Royce wouldn't appreciate the work they do. If people aren't given an incentive they by the same old gas guzzlers and we accomplish nothing toward our goal of safe, CLEAN, RENEWABLE, LOCAL, alternative energy. In the long run we all will win. It will take a little time after all Obama doesn't have a magic wand.
FDR proved that an infusion of government money can save the entire economy as he did to save the economy from the Great Depression. Many, if not most of those programs ran their course with millions of employed and paying taxes or they were turned over to private ownership and making money, hiring people who pay taxes.
Perhaps people in the Obama Administration may be making money, though I doubt it, but it is no different than Cheney, Dubya and their pals making billions off the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Did you object to that?
"The best solution Rick has for our Country is Aspirins"
FDR started the entitlement mentality in this country.
Rick Santorum's wife had a six + year affair with a abortion doctor, could this be Rick's Problem ?
Well actually I did, I was a Democrat through and through, and really disliked Bush II, Dick Cheney, Newt Gingrich, Karl Rove. Especially didnt like anything I heard about Haliburton. Knew all the talking points backward and forward. Even voted for Obama, But then a couple years ago, my father became ill and I found myself watching cable news all day. Im tellin him, OMG they make the president look bad every single day, how can you watch this, can we at least watch the other channel sometimes, I mean really. Well it turned out that CNN was actually really boring they never seem to say anything and the coverage on MSNBC was, well, off. There were top of the news stories on FOX that were never ever mentioned and so I started learning what was going on. Now I pay much closer attention, Ive even come to admire Newt, although Rove still seems like a slimebucket. But now I know who tells the truth. But anyway yeah I could hammer Bush II as hard as any of you and there is plenty to hammer him on, Halliburton, the Patriot act being at the top of the list. But what I have seen from Obama is absolutely beyond the pale, and I just hope and pray that there actually is an election in November. I know you guys dont want to hear it so I wont bother. But go off on Bush all you want, and if you get a chance to set Dick Cheney on fire I wont stop you.
Let me finish with this though, FOX news does NOT lie, and whever I hear that it makes it real easy to discount the speaker as ignorant as best. The boys at the independant watchdog group have also done a FANTASTIC job convincing the uninformed that FOX does lie, the media hit on Sarah Palin was especially top notch, people will hate her for years simply because it was yelled often enough and loud enough to make people believe. You can spare me any replies, but I would actually be strangely honored if some of you would attack me as racist.
Fox news tells untruths. Is that better?
Why have "most" elected officials, from President, Senator, Congressmen/women, Govenors, local officials and media outlets, turned TRUTH into a liability????? If we wanted to know how our officials voted and did their job, all we have to do is spend a little time going to the local library ( ONE HOUR EVERY TWO WEEKS) and pulling up current factual documents available to each citizen! What an eye opener this would be to Democrats and Republicans across the board! We would question every speech; every comment; and every statement and demand TRUTH, w/ facts in our hands!!! Lets start opening our eyes and ears and stop blaming the "other party" for untruths; downright lies and dishonesty that have been made by Presidents; their staff, their party, the other party and every other administration before this. We get what we vote for! If we do not do our homework ( on factual issues as well as facts on those individulals running for office) and only believe what we are told by smooth, articulate and well presented individuals seeking office "any office"; we as a country will forever use the blame game and continue to go down the same path we have been going down for generations! I am one citizen that has had enough of the pointing finger syndrum with no leadership available to FIXING THE PROBLEM facing our country!!!
Neil - you don't have to watch Fox News to get the truth - you have to read the articles, find out what the author believes, follow up on the facts to separate fact and opinions. What passes for facts sometimes is pretty lame in a lot of the media.
Ummmmm, yeah.

You sort of jumped the shark by claiming Fox News doesn't lie. They are, after all, the only news organization ever to go to court in support of their "right" to broadcast untruths.
Neil Murphy - Romney never I repeat never used his own money Bain Capital used investor and bank money to purchase companies
This has been discussed over and over again on these posts
So "Johnny Come Lately" its just not worth regurgitating again
You are so old news!
John B...."Over 3 decades of Supply Side economics..." Ever used the words, Clinton surplus? Not sure how that fits into those 3 decades of devastation.
"The wealthy elites that the GOP represents.."
The potential for the crash of the derivatives market was made known to the Clinton administration by Brooksley Born. She was marginalized by the administration and eventually resigned. Two key members of the Clinton administration, Geithner and Summers. Those names sound familiar?
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/warning/view/
Rich Democrats:
Kerry: Net worth $193 million.
Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va.: Net worth $82 million
Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va.: Net worth $76 million
Rep. Jared Polis, D-Colo.: Net worth $66 million
Sen. Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J.: Net worth $55 million
Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn.: Net worth $55 million
Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif.: Net worth $45 million
(http://www.newsmax.com/US/Democrats-Republicans-wealth-congress/2011/09/06/id/409898#ixzz1aTchKlVw)
Ted Kennedy was worth an estimated $49 million when he died.
You might also want to look up the net worth of Nancy Pelosi, Al Gore, Bill & Hillary Clinton, Rahm Emanuel, Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Michael Moore, George Soros, Oprah Winfrey, Keith Olbermann and many other Democrat/Liberal 1-percenter wealthy elites.
Actually, hs, the marginalizing of Brooksley Born was pushed most strongly by Republican (supposed) god Alan Greenspan, who was given a national stage by Republican committee chair Phil Gramm to gin up the press and public into a fury of indignation that anyone would DARE try to stop the deregulatory steamroller.
By the way, why is it such an affront to you that there are wealthy Democrats? The important thing isn't that the people you named have done well in life. The important thing is, they recognize that both allows and obligates them to support the society that made their fortunes possible through a reasonable level of taxation and sensible regulation to ensure fair markets for all of us.
Meanwhile Republicans work overtime to support the interests of;
- The giant, too big to fail banks.
- Greedy oil speculators who are at this very moment robbing the American middle class to further enrich themselves.
- Insurance companies who the Conservative deregulatory religion have been given a virtual right to steal for the last generation.
- The top 1% of tax payers, we've indulged with lower, lower, ever lower taxes in some ridiculous notion that they'll somehow support the rest of us with strong economic growth if we only tax them sufficiently little.
Now that I've addressed your weak attempt at deflection why don't you address my actual point?
30+ years of Supply Side voodoo going back to the Reagan Administration has sapped the vitality of the American economy and practically impoverished the American middle class.
Well if anyone would know about hypocrisy its the republican party that's for sure and they get my vote for hypocrites ! i thought it was another word for republican !
"Rick Santrojan is the answer to Contraception"
Frothy and Woody battle it out. I miss the the others though especially what's his name, the pizza guy.
"Rick Santorum called Contraception Murder"
john - The 999 Pizza guy is campaigning with the Newster - after all they both have books to sell
While not all earmarks are bad how about doing every one of them as separate bills allowed to stand or fail on their own merits instead of tucking them into bills that are bound to pass? That's the real problem. If your pet project has some real benefits, then let the entire Congress and the American people see it for what it is.
To Voting Independent- Great idea and comment, from a fellow independent for last 20 years...How can we create an independent watchdog org that can break this stuff down for the average voter on non-partisan lines? Average voter (me included) doesn't have time to find truth in all the BS in the media (and from most candidates and blogs)
As opposed to not even reading them?
I posted this idea awhile back. Online Voting. Must have a Social Security number to be allowed to vote. Each bill is posted online, no piggybacks. Congress, House and Senate, become law writers, NOT law makers. We the people are the lawmakers.
Or how about taking the amount of funds left over after paying the bills (I know there is nothing left over) and dividing it up among the 50 states based on the proportion of federal taxes a state contributes to the federal bank account.
For Lisbon Vice, you cant always trust those independant watchdog groups..They have a tendency to turn out actually be the vilest of the vile, character assasination specialists. No attack too heinous, ready to tar and feather anyone and everyone who doesnt agree with a certain party line. Complete with faked video and private investigators. I wont name names, it would get me banned Im sure. But be careful what you wish for.
voting - that is what the annual Omnibus Bill is. It is a collection of spending requests representatives submit to help their own districts.
The reason earmarks get tucked into bills is so politicians will vote for the bill they really don't get. The slimmer the majority, the more earmarks it takes to get an unpopular bill passed.
Lots of negativity again on this post, and most just generalities again...I've learned to almost tune it out...Trying to respond to something specific here, Moonbase above has some bullets above on Santorum...I'd like to check out their validity (maybe they are?)...Santorum seems to clearly grab for straws on the Winter Olympics, especially if it was for post 9/11 security, and he sounds extermely petty and childish, almost as bad as Gingrich, if that is possible...I wonder what the real truth is on his earmark record? Truth is hard to find in this campaign, and media and the public are both part of the problem, as most of both just want headlines and soundbites, like we are running for 8th grade Stuco...In anyone wants to converse intelligently on one just one detail, I'd like to join in..
I dont think those bullets were accurate. I heard Santorum on Greta the other night and he spoke about contraception really well, he also answered some really tough questions from that Piers guy. There is no substitute for watching them yourself, pretty much anyone talking about a candidate has their own agenda. Mediate.com has a lot of video clips from every station, they might spin a little but you can watch the video and decide for yourself. Myself, when hes not wearing that stupid sweater he seems like a really good guy.
I think this whole issue of contraception came out right this moment on purpose because its one area hes a little vulnerable on. If your undecided, I wouldnt worry about earmarks too much. Obama is signing trillion dollar bills thousands of pages long and not even reading them, I mean whats a hundred billion dollars more or less right?
So Neil, what IS Santorum's position? Should employers be able to deny contraceptive coverage to their employees?
No one anywhere is in favor of banning contraception for ANYONE. This whole issue is all about the mandate to buy Obamacare, the reason it came up again is because the contraception coverage is mandated and that really bothers the catholics, they are worried about eternal dammnation. This whole debate is being misrepresented somewhat on both sides. But dont worry youre going to be able to get all the contraception you could possible want, free of charge included in your insurance policy.I myself think that Obamacare is a really crappy law, but I have to agree without the mandate its even worse than useless.
The question you should ask, that you wont get an answer too, is how much an Obamacare policy is going to cost. That answer wont be available until after the election. My educated guess, you will be paying more for healthcare than a payment on a brand new Volt, and less than a payment on a Fannie Mae mortgage.
Neil, you keep saying "no one anywhere is in favor of banning contraception for anyone". That statement is NOT TRUE. You are talking about the President's policy that contraceptives should be covered as preventive medicine by health insurance companies, but the extreme right is ALSO trying to pass "personhood amendments" in the states which would make most forms of contraception illegal. Just because you refuse to acknowledge that fact does not mean it is not happening.
On that issue I admit my ignorance. Its not an issue in this state and hasnt been since I was old enough to screw. And its never been something Ive worried about either and Im not worried about it now on the state or national level. I do think Obamacare is total junk and there are plenty of other people who do too. Smart people even. I would guess its the morning after pill thats the big deal and I can sympathize with the catholics on that somewhat, but all in all a womans right to choose is fine with me.
So now we have "butt goo" who has been referred to as one of the most corrupt senators, saying yes I did, but so did he. And a serial fish (flip-flopper) saying I know you are, but what am I.
Priceless
john - great comment....lol...but did PeeWee Herman approve this message?
Sorry, no, but I would be more likely to write PeeWee in than vote for either of these mudslingers.
Why do you call Romney a serial flip flopper? Did you just barrow that cheap label from Rick Perry?
Governor of Mass pretty much ran the state as a Democrat, now he is supposedly ultra conservative.
If you actually want to see their views I would try You Tube searches that reference particular subjects.
Excuse me John,
A "severe" conservative!
That's what he called himself last week at C-Pac.
LOL!
John, I found one;
www.youtube.com/watch?v=sShMA85pv8M.
Jo-An, since nobody can find a trace of "Severe conservative" in his past, perhaps Mittens is more of a "Double Secret Conservative"
eric, I think you are onto something there!
LOL!
You will probably not find an honest discussion about politics here, everyone is on one side or the the other. Best thing to do is to watch the guy on TV and hear the words from the man himself. I heard him on contraception on Greta and its nothing like what I hear here. He is actually pretty impressive, he also handled himself well when Piers went after him. Anyone that can respond that well on the fly is not a stupid guy.
Lots of hate going around about him, near as I can tell all unjustified. Typical attack dog stuff.
its only a face that's it..you know the smiley face like tea party ..and look no one new the tea PARTY WERE THAT WAY HUH..they were very impressive huh
Of course on Greta, he's is going to "clean up his act" google some of his old speeches, I have seen clips of him over the years, and he is a misogynistic a$$, BUT I do give him credit for actually believing the stuff he says (unlike Romney)
Jo-An is so very correct. Why don't you just google the guy and contraceptives, Neil? It's easy - AND - you will see him speaking in his own voice and his own words. And how totally whacked it is that I really believe he really believes. That's the only plus I can give the poor soul. He does come across as honestly believing what he, himself, says; and his own words will ensure that he will never ever be President either in 2013 or any other time.
If you believe as he believes, fine. It's just that thinking people and especially women, like myself, now know that he is perhaps the biggest sexist I have ever heard. And, yeah, he did earmark indoor rain forests and other totally useless stuff with "my" money.
Naw, you guys hate him enough, I know hes the straight goods.
That's okay if you are afraid to hear the truth put your fingers in your ears and hum. It works for my 3 year old.
Sorry Neil,
I "HATE" no one! But I do "LIKE" my right to choose, I like the idea that if one of my children is gay, and wants to marry their partner, they can....and I don't wan to return to 1955, no matter how GREAT some may think it was! Silly Mad Men!
the anti-Christ party try and do out each other...so funny
It's Obana's fault. He had his speechwriters secretely edit their lies.
oh thats a good one.hahahaha
Well Rick -- I agree with you on this one. Romney is a hypocrite. But then -- Republican and hypocrite are interchangeable terms.
do yall really want the tea party to be President
NOPE,
The Teabaggers gave America a Boehner!
OBAMA 2012
The only reason Romney never voted for any earmarks is that he lost his Senate campaign.
I don't think that anyone would argue that the federal government should have helped the Olympics with some of its expenditures, especially security in a post-9/11 world. But the total expenditures for the Olympics were $1.3 billion. Don't tell me that all went to security. So, Mitt's great accomplishment of saving the Olympics was funded by the U.S. taxpayers.
Maybe Santorum thinks it's un-American to support the USA in Olympic Games
He sounds like an "Apologist" doesn't he?
Come to think about it,, Every conservatives who who shouts to the world that America has failed is an "APOLOGIST"!
Even though I'm from Pennsylvania, I'm no fan of Santorum. I will say, though, that he is consistent in his views and I believe that he loves his country. I think the point he is making is that Mitt sells himself as the best candidate for President because he saved the Olympics and then goes on to say--don't vote for Santorum because he got earmarks for his state. Well, it turns out that Mitt saved the Olympics using........earmarks.
I'm no fan of Santorum. I will say, though, that he is consistent in his views
No -- he's NO consistent. As a Senator when Bush was president, he never found a spending bill he didn't like. Today -- like most big sending Republicans Bush of the era -- he screams about deficits.
My DOG is "consistent in his views" and loves his country, but much as I love him, I would never vote for him to be POTUS!
Both Romney & Santorum have contracted a deadly case of "Severely Conservative"
I wish we could just fast-forward to November. This "he said she said" sh*t is really getting on my nerves and Obama will win re-election anyway so let's just cut to the chase so we can get on with real business. *rolling eyes*
Hey Rick, is it also false that your wife shacked up (unmarried, a Catholic no-no), with her college professor....you know that man who delivered her when she was born???? Just curious, oh great moral one...LOL
Obama poised to win 2012 election with 303 electoral votes
http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/signal/obama-poised-win-2012-election-303-electoral-votes-202543583.html
That might change if the SCOTUS slaps his hands for NDAA.
NDAA again John?
Here is the FACTS that kick conservatives in the balls for that ignorant un-American garbage.
This President strongly defends Americans rights & freedoms with his signing statement on NDAA
Once again conservatives deliberately lied to you calling you conservatives ignorant of the issues

I can play catch too.
http://www.infowars.com/obama-administration-demanded-power-to-indefinitely-detain-u-s-citizens/
This reminds me of an Abbott and Costello routine, but done by bigger morons that are funnier.
See post 9.3.
I see the wicked have moved to the newest thread to spin their lies. Face it that Santorum is the best candidate on all issues.
"wicked"?
wicked, dishonest, un-American, just plain ignorant.... You pick John, Santorum & conservatives fit all 4
THATS WHAT I SAY ; ROMNEY NEEDS TO LET AMERICA SEE WHAT HE'S REALLY BEEN UP TO FOR THE LAST 6 YEARS ON HIS TAX FORMS !!!!!!!!!!!!! then watch him self destruct with the american voters. no use for him to keep pretending that he's showed us the tax information america has been asking for. these gullible and desperate republican conservative tea partiers wants to hide romney's past dealings. but there are smart people out there ,that are seeing right through the smoke and mirrors. they can run from it, but time will not let it hide. REPUBLICAN HIPOCRITS HAVE A MEAN SURPRISE AWAITING THEIR ANGEL OF LIGHT
Earmarks? When voters fired him from the Senate he went right back to work for the companies that lobbied Congress for "EarMarks"
Santorum is smart enough to realize he's talking to conservatives who only watch Fox News, that's how he gets away with his ridiculous rhetoric --- He plays conservatives for the fools that they are
Spot on!
Probably the only reason this fool must wage a negative campaign and degrade his opponents is because he has no list of accomplishments himself. His comments and ideas are laughable to say the least, his hypocrisy monumental.
Today he spoke of how obama makes us "less safe". Hearing him on national media makes me think we are less sane. We use to call the gop....the greedy old pigs....now we see their very sanity must be held in question.
LOOK AT WHAT THE REPUBS HAVE CONJURED UP NOW ; forget christianity, just put a large picture of JOE SMITH, their new saviour, into the oval office. and a huge statute of their angle MARONI on top the white house. justify POLYGAMY, in every essence of the word. why stop their ? fill the chosen god's master bedroom with many first second and third ladies !!!!! it's a new day, and despair has set in. NOW THESE ARE THE BULLS IN A CHINA SHOP THAT THE WORLD WILL REMEMBER THEM FOR. we will change their names from re-publicans, to RE-POLYGAMIES. haaaaaaa haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Didn't Dustin Hoffman star in the movie about Santorum ? '' Mr. Santorium's Emporioum " , yeah that's it ! I don't remember who made the musical about Romney ? It was called " Seven Brides But I Don't Have No Brothers."
