Bush utters the words 'cut and run'

From NBC's Elizabeth Wilner
President Bush ratcheted up his rhetoric against Democrats at his fundraiser for Alabama Gov. Bob Riley in Birmingham today, in that he actually called the Democratic party "the party of cut and run." Until now, Bush had refrained from using this GOP catch-phrase which oversimplifies the Democratic position on the war in Iraq (particularly since Republicans also like to point out how Democrats don't have a unified position on the war). Bush has, up until now, made a point of saying he doesn't question their patriotism. Democrats, for their part, have been stepping up their charge that Bush and the GOP want to "stay the course" in Iraq.

Meanwhile, on Capitol Hill, the Senate is expected to pass the compromise bill on detainee trials and treatment within the next half-hour or so...

I guess the choice to me is being "Stupid and Staying" if we had smarter people in the policy making decision process on the Iraq and they were proving to me that we were making a positive choice, I would support them. I have seen the President's proformance and I just think we have the wrong leadership and they are heading us down a wrong direction with Iraq.
I pray the draft is re-instituted before Bush's daughters turn 42 and they get to serve in a hell hole like Iraq. Of course I would not want them to be captured. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/09/28/opinion/28thu1.html?ex=1159588800&en=6ba08d863d2a2639&ei=5087%0A Once there is a Democrat as President can G.W. be declared a detainee?
Bush again is starting to use the "Cut and Run" phrase again since it has worked before. I say that Bush knows nothing more to say. When he found out that the WTC had been attacked, he was reading to some children, but instead for leaving he continued to read. He was supposed to be our Commander in Chief, but he thought that it was better to finish with the Children then going to his job. He again showed how slow on the pick up he was after Katrina. Help us get rid of someone who keeps paying the rich more money and the middle class is losing every step of the way. He never served in the Miltary (oh yes he was in the National Guard, but was able to work on a political campaign while in service). He has never done anything for himself, but for his father and now Rowe.
Seriously. How unconstitutional does a bill have to be before the lemmings in Congress express cognitive thought?
I come back from a long weekend. I bring up a few websites to see if anything interesting happens while I was gone for the weekend....Headlines read that the GOP's mood is brightening and the presidents numbers are up. Has the war ended? Is the Katrina disaster cleaned up? Is spending under control? Are our borders suddenly safe? Has corruption been weeded out of congress? When will people ever wake up? They are so blinded by their need to be led, that they never listen to what their own ears are telling them. They never SEE. I could walk down to Mexico right now. Spend the night, lose my wallet, and instead of using proper channels to get back home, I foolishly decide to walk home with a 100% certainty that I would make it into the country. Why? Because everyone caught is released on their own recognisance into the the very country they are trying to enter into illegally and told to return for their deportation trial. This is the best they could do??? I gave up lip balm and bottled water on my flights for this? Why isn't it fixed? Because the business interests would lose millions if they no longer had cheap labor to work for them. Remember Bush is a business man, first and formost, albeit not a very good one. Just the fact that a White House media blitz over the course of the last two weeks can still sway so many to think that what's happening is OK still makes me wonder about America as a voting public. This is not a gameshow. We are not electing the next American Idol. There are real consequences to who you vote for. Lives are being lost and homes ruined as I type. That should at least be worth a little homework, no? This controlling political party is reprehensible. Everything is about control and gain with them. People have already forgotten. What about Chavez. They were caught with an internal memo saying they could use this to mobilize the right to lifers. This is a party that cares? What about the war and the Downing Street memo? Katrina? Their spin machine is incredible. They simply make bad things go away. They flash something shiny in their right hands, while their left hand is picking your pocket, and the American Public ooohhs and aaahss and all intelligence drips out of their open mouths like so much drool. We had our very first Terror alert since the last presidential elections. They stopped immediately after. Not a peep since. Two years, and no terror activity?? Did the Terrorists just give up until the next election? They stopped being a threat in any way? It's all 'green' sailing for the next two years? All the sudden, the GOP's shiny image is looking rather raped, people are starting to think and ask questions. Corruption is widespread and unchecked. Spending is out of control. Republican senators and congressmen are dropping out of elections over corruption charges, scandal, and stupidity. Suddenly we have our first Terror alert in 2 years, just before Midterms? Are half the American people as a group just dumb? Maybe they should spend less time watching 'Reality' TV game shows, and a little more to what's really going on in the world.
when bush and cheney had the chance to serve thier country they were war wimps now they are war pimps war mongering that the only solution is war war war if this is what amercans want then vote for bush war mongering followers and we will be at war forever. if americans feel there is another way then vote for change.
On the topic of cutting and running: Approximately 6 months ago Howard Dean said that President Bush and his administration have "cut and run" regarding post-Katrina recovery. He's 100% right. I really believe that Bush, in spite of his lofty Jackson Square promise that New Orleans would "rise again," his saying in an interview earlier this year with Brian Williams that he wanted a "Louisiana that's vibrant," and his having been quoted in an article last February saying that he'd always had a "warm spot" in his heart for Louisiana, really sees Gulf Coast recovery as an extremely low priority. Indeed, his stance regarding Louisiana seems to be that of a neglectful-abusive husband towards his seriously and painfully-injured wife, who desperately needs medical attention but he is too self-centered to spend the money on her. He just pats her on the head and tells her he loves her and not to worry. He showed his true colors in his State of the Union speech in which he did not mention New Orleans until close to the end and said nothing about the need for upgraded levees, coastal restoration, or for seeing that storm-ravaged parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, and the rest of the Gulf Coast are rebuilt. Furthermore, he rejected Louisiana's Baker plan, which would have given her people who need to repair or rebuild their homes a far better deal than she is able to provide with her current "Road Home" plan which still (as far as I know) hasn't started handing out funds. Mississippi has a similar plan, which is off to a slow start. (I wonder why Halliburton hasn't seen fit to invest in what Louisiana Sen. Landrieu calls "America's Energy Coast" the way it has in Iraq--maybe if it had, the area's recovery would be a far higher priority for Bush.) And what has Bush been doing? Coming up with various Weapons of Mass Distraction (our first terror alert in 2 years being only the tip of the iceberg). He wants to make sure people have forgotten the fact that not only did he massively bungle the first response to Katrina, he hasn't really done anything meaningful that would bring the storm zone back, nor does he intend to--and wants to make sure he has a sympathetic Republican Congress backing him up, which will keep his neglectful policies in force.
You know what we need to do? Institute a draft and send 300,000 troops over there and get it done. But we can't. Why? Because the vast majority of the Bush Administration are draft dodgers. So instead, we get that monkey paw cursing us with "cut and run." The conservative genius has us in a can't win situtation - and it's all Bill Clinton's fault. At least our stem cells are safe.
President Decider said "the party of Harry Truman has become the party of 'cut and run'." The Party of Prescott Bush is still the party of "war profiteering."
what is going on? i thought clinton was still the president, the budget was balanced, the U.S. was wa s in a good frame of mind, the economy was in good shape, abroad had leaders shaking hands, the auto industry seemed intact, gas prices were down, the middle class including me seemed to have some light at the end of the tunnel, Americas moral and peace of mind was on a positive path, i think in general we had some respect of our leaders here and abroad, etc, etc, etc, now, there is some little wimpy looking man who says he is the president and who thinks he is GOD, i do not remember seeing his name in the Bible but he must be because he never makes mistakes and he says everything he does is right despict the fact that so many other leaders says he is wrong. i do not know what happended, the U.S. is in a terribe mess as is the countries abroad, wars everywhere. i do not know why i question this little, deferments man because if you do not think he is right just ask him.
Yes, do business with all sides in a war. It makes for sure and spectacular profit. That's the Prescott Bush way, and it's been handed down for generations. Sometimes I wonder how they sleep at night, but then I realize they are hardened criminals because they can look you in the eye and lie, repeatedly. Who believes Bush and his "people"? How can anyone believe anything they say?
Hmm...Dewey mentions the "light at the end of the tunnel". Does he mean the light undocumented immigrants will be seeing at the ends of the many tunnels that will be dug under that new border wall Congress has just voted and appropriated money for?
Just look at all this wonderful "dissent"!!!! I love it!!! Bush hates all you misguided thinkers!!! But wait, even though it seems that a few former Red State residents are FINALLY waking up and smelling the coffee....we still have to get past the Republican owned and operated Diabold Corporation in Nov. and all their electronic voting machines, when anyone with 60 seconds and the mind to do it can fix the election results and then...VOILA!!!!!!!...Republicans hold on to Congress even though he vast number of Americans voted for change!!!! Bush avoids impeachment (sadly) and the warmongering goes on indefinitely. Does anyone else find it mildly ironic that the word “Diabold” eerily resembles “Diablo”, which, of course, is Spanish for “Devil”? "It ain't over till it's over folks". Demand a paper print outs to confirm your electronic ballots!!
no Olivia, not exactly that one but your right on about those tunnels also.
Make the fence a double one. Put razor wire above and below and hook it up to electricity, like a million watts. Put land mines down also and dig pits with hungry lions and tigers and bears just waiting for a tasty kibble. Do whatever it takes to stop the invasion of our country by illegal aliens. Mexico should be responsible for its own citizens. Put the U.S. employers down in the pits with the hungry lions. They care nothing for our country, just for a big profit. Our borders HAVE TO BE SECURED for Heaven's sake. Anybody can get through and who's to say terrorists haven't already done so?
