Woodward's book like cotton candy?

In a news conference today, Senate Democratic leaders lashed out against the Bush Administration, as they latched onto claims made in Bob Woodward's book "State of Denial" -- such as the Administration ignoring pleas that more troops were needed in Iraq to quell the insurgency there. These Democrats also renewed calls for Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld to be fired. Said Carl Levin, ranking member of the Armed Services Committee: "The President has got to end his stubborn insistence that things are going just fine in Iraq." And said Minority Leader Harry Reid: "It's time for the misleading, the mistakes, the misconduct to end."

But at his briefing today, White House press secretary Tony Snow compared Woodward's book to cotton candy, in that it "kind of melts on contact." He said allegations that the Administration ignored advice from military commanders are untrue. "The reason for not going with the suggestion is that the Generals and the military commanders had suggested a different course of action. But on the other hand, if you take a look at the arc of troops during that year, guess what happened? More troops were added during the course of the year," Snow said. "The President has also made it clear that he continues to respond, as Commander-in-Chief, to developments on the ground and to requests from commanders," he added.

This must be Sen Levin's first experience with a delusional psychotic.
Bush Inc. continues its 6 year attack on its critics (didn't they used to love Bob??). You are either unpatriotic or coddling terrorists. When are Americans going to finally see through the lies - the rest of the world has! Republican incompetence has been the mark of the American politics for the last 6 years. Bush's crusades in Afghanistan and Iraq are failing because he relied on divine intervention instead of sound military and political strategies. Bush sees all evil; Cheney speaks all evil; and Rove is pure evil. America deserves better.
Meanwhile Rumsfeld is travelling in Slovenia, hoping the geographically inept among those wanting his head search for him in East Africa....
Frankly, all of Bush's frantic messages are melting like cotton candy as soon as they are uttered except in the ears of the willfully ignorant. The majority of Americans already know what a liar he is so Snow's snow jobs dont have much traction.
Rumsfeld? It's a good day if he finds his office.
Cotton candy is very sticky after it melts!
Nice To see Woodward come back from the Dark Side and print something worth reading. The way everything is being denied and spun means that it is true. We saw this same verbal tapdance with Ron Ziegler (remember him?)and Watergate. Now we have Tony Snow (appropriate last name) doing the whirlish dervish thing on this story. Cotton candy my butt, anybody out there old enough to remember Br'er Rabbit and the Tar Baby? This story is the Tar Baby. Considering all the books that Woodward has written and a reporter (former I believe) he has notes everywhere and I understand tape recordings. Stick a fork in George, he's done.
Funy how critiques of the Bush White House are all dismissed as "cotton candy" - ish. The real issue is that this administration is violently allergic to a pesky little thing called "truth".
