Your vote

A Roll Call editorial notes that five states whose polls close by 8:00 pm ET -- Connecticut, Florida, Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania -- "have been placed by the nonpartisan group electionline.org on a list of 10 'states to watch.'  In these states, new voting machines, voter identification requirements, out-of-date voter registration lists or sheer numbers of voters may cause trouble."

Top US voting machine manufacturer Smartmatic and subsidiary Sequoia Voting Systems are being investigated by the Committee on Foreign Investments in the United States, at Smartmatic's request, for possibly problematic ties to Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.  "A breakdown in the use of Sequoia voting machines in the March primary in Chicago gave rise to questions about Smartmatic's corporate structure," says the Washington Post

"The government has 30 days to issue its first ruling on whether the Sequoia purchase compromises U.S. national security by giving a foreign government undue influence on U.S. elections.  The investigation can be extended by another 45 days, if a U.S. government agency requests it," reports the Miami Herald

Are we being set up for a voting machine scandal? If so, look for our regime to blame it on Chavez. Forever making boogy men, politics of fear, break the law and blame the or an opposition. Geez!!I hope I am just old, paranoid, cynical, and completely wrong. Still, I am leery......
How about checking to see if the Incumbent Government we have now has any undue influence on U.S. Electric Elections. With all the talk about something happening in Ohio back in '04, one begins to wonder. Election tampering? This bunch? Or the 2000 elections, with known Voter-tamperer Renquist giving it to the GOP? Couldn't happen? Call me unconvinced...because I am.
I could scream-all the many things this congress should be investigating and they waste their/our time w/ this Chavez propaganda BS. Cheney's ties w/ Halliburton and Bush's w/ Diebold are a helluva lot more of a threat. Chavez doesn't threaten us, the American people, he only threatens Bush & co (and their millionaire buddies) for if we looked objectively, we might like what we see when government is actually helping people, and caring about fair trade policies. They hate him cause he's gotten Venezuela out from under the World Banks thumb, and taking millions from his country's resources out of corporate, like Big oil's, pockets. Be very careful what our government and media say about Chavez-the propaganda is dizzying.
Down here in former Rep Foley's district, it was too late to reprint ballots after his resignation. He has been replaced by Joe Negron. Election supervisors were going to provide notices that said, "A vote for Foley counts for Negron, a vote for Mahoney counts for Mahoney." The Dems sued to stop this from happening. Why would they attempt to keep voters from understanding who they are voting for? Don't the Dems always call this "disenfranchising"? The courts threw their complaints out. One advantage of being an independent is that it is a lot easier to see the hypocrisy of the 2 major parties. When an issue like this comes up, the parties will take whichever position gives them the advantage, even if it conflicts with positions they've taken in the past.
Owen, you are old, paranoid, cynaile, and completely wrong. It's happened before to the detriment of our country. Thirteen states have NO PAPER TRAIL for the voting machines. The machines have been shown to incorrectly record votes - HBO special, Lou Dobbs, Keith Oberman, etc. Our country wants change, and we will not accept a rigged election this time. Too much is at stake.
just a short question. why have i never heard a conserative commentator lose a on air debate? good screener? photographic memory?
why do we expect radical islamists to go against their beliefs if when asked would you go against yours?
