Of course the mood is good. Just like it's always good in the White House. Because hey - it doesn't matter if nearly 3000 American soldiers have been butchered in Iraq, it doesn't matter if over 10,000 troops have been maimed, it doesn't matter if over 25,000 Iraqis have been killed in the process, it doesn't matter if tens of thousands of jobs have been lost to 'outsourcing,' it doesn't matter if healthcare costs have soared to unprecedented heights, it doesn't matter if our education system sucks - Bush eats five-star meals every night, rides around in limos that are safely buffered from any protestors, flies around on Air Force One whenever he wants, does whatever he wants on the taxpayer dime. Hey, if I was holed up in a Ritz-Carlton-like atmosphere and had a plane that was even sweeter than a G4 and never had to look someone who disagreed with me in the eye, I'd say my mood was pretty good too!

Sure, the mood was good. After dinner with some drinks, who isn't in a good mood? Now Ken needs to get out of the White House because it's past 9pm and Bushie and wife need to get to bed so they can do their "reading" (sports pages for him, Maureen Dowd's column for her) and get some shut-eye.

By any objective standard, these guys have made already their pile off of their six years in power -- the next two'll just be gravy, especially since the Dems won't really stop any war profiteering (or wars for that matter) or quite manage to shut down corporate and environmental corruption to the extent that any of the current players will feel so much as a pinch. It's a dog-and-pony show, folks -- just the Dem's turn to take the heat for awhile as the rape of this nation continues all but unabated. Shucks, I'd be in a good mood too!

The mood should be good; reality seems to never daunt this administrating. The big "R" party moves in a void between reality and "True Faith", truth does not belong and facts have little value. "Don't worry be happy", or is that "Don't worry shun reality"

Yup! The mood is good. If the republicans win or loose, as always, we will walk with our heads held high. We aren't going to parade around our country yelling and screaming how we weren't given a fair shake. Unlike the dems, we have respect and we will take it with stride.

It's a pity that most of the comments here indicate that we think that one set of politicians is more or less ethical or more or less smart than another set. There are certainly candidates who need to be elected and incumbents who need to be unelected, but the parties they belong to should be irrelevant. If the candidate promotes themself along party lines, then beware. The rule of thumb is that if the party does not like the candidate then you should probably vote for that candidate. Another rule of thumb is that if you are voting with your demographic, you probably should be giving more thought to your choice. Finally, don't believe the scaremongers; America will always make the right choice, it just may not coincide with your choice.

They're probably already planning to send Karl Rove to Montana and Virginia to help with the recounts....

Olivia, Recounts are the dems job, not ours. When the dems lose, it's an automatic recount. Haven't you heard? That's one of the new laws that was passed! We don't play that game.

If the law says a recount is automatic, I guess everyone would "play that game." We DO have laws. However, it won't help the Republicans anyway.
