A landmark night for women

Posted: Tuesday, November 07, 2006 11:20 PM by Al Olson

This is shaping up as the Year of  the Woman.

Nancy Pelosi is poised to become the first female Speaker of the House and a record number of women will be in the U.S. Senate.

Every female senator up for re-election has been projected as a winner.

With incumbent senators Hillary Clinton, Debbie Stabenow, Kay Bailey Hutchison, Maria Cantwell, Dianne Feinstein, and Olympia Snowe projected winners and new senator-elect Amy Klobuchar projected as the winner in Minnesota, there will be a history-making number of female senators on Capitol Hill. At least 15 in the new Congress. It is possible that number goes higher if Claire McCaskill wins in Missouri.

Scary
scary that david is still living in the 20th century. thats why we have the mess we have, too many rich old white men in control...time for a change!
I voted against Maria Cantwell in 2000, I am proud to have voted for her this time. Congrats
Why not try somthing different, change is a GOOD thing.
AMERICA STAND PROUD DEMOCRACY WORKS...
Now when are we going to become president?!! Yay for female impowerment. I hope we will stand our ground firmly and proudly in these offices.
No, it is not scary, it is about TIME.
I have female bosses and found them to be clear level headed pragmatic and wanted to make fully informed decisions. I've worked for male bosses who wanted to project an image and wanted the "I'm the boss just do what I told you" attitude. It doesnt hurt my manhood and guess what, I'm a man and more successful due to my female bosses than when I had male bosses. So if woman succeed in politics and provide a better life for me and my family, then more power to them.
People are beginning to move away from letting gender interfer with their decision making process when electing individuals to represent them. We are evolving as a culture towards "ensuring full participation in our government" regardless of gender. "It's not the gender, it's the message stupid."
David from Phoenix sounds like my husband, bless his heart. He calls Lifetime Movie Channel the feminazi channel. All he wants to watch is car races and programs about WWII.
Thanks to read!--langzixin
