The Libby Trial

The New York Times on the testimony yesterday by its former reporter, Judy Miller, who spent 85 days in jail for originally refusing to reveal her sources: “In her more than two hours on the stand, Ms. Miller became the focal point for an intense drama involving three people in the room: herself, Mr. Fitzpatrick and Mr. Libby.  As she provided the testimony that was most damaging to Mr. Libby, he sat almost motionless in his chair about 20 feet away and stared at her.”   

The Washington Post's Kurtz: "Throughout the afternoon, an unspoken question hung in the air: What do journalists give up when they agree to protect high officials in exchange for juicy information?"

Answer to the question: They are no different from the politicians they report on. One will do anything for the story, the other will do anything to get what he/she wants. It actually might mean reporters have to got to something other than the Presidential Press Secretary and the wire services for information.
it's kind of a boring non-event when the big old blue-suit press bends over for the imperialist war machine. nobody wants to watch big old fat people make love. which is what happened when they all were competing to turn mere spin into real war-hysterical propaganda. it's basically a day-time soap opera.
Unnamed sources confirm that while in Lock-Up, Miller was bombarded with the song "When The Eagle Soars", containing the subliminal message that Dubya and Cheney were as innocent as newborn babies. -Independent Party News Service
