You certainly can't say Fred Thompson is boring. We missed this when it first came out, but before the NFL Draft, Thompson -- who is thinking about running for president and will speak to Orange County Republicans later this week -- blogged on Pajamas Media about the draft and the troubles of Tennessee Titans cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones, whom the league banned for his off-the-field troubles.

He wrote, "As most football fans and all Titans boosters know, Jones and his entourage invaded a strip club (the usual scene of his hooliganisms) during this year’s NBA All Star Weekend in Las Vegas. There, he reportedly 'made it rain' by showering the ladies with a satchel full of more than $80,000 in dollar bills."

Tell us, what other presidential candidate is blogging about "making it ran" at a strip club? (He earlier blogged about the movie, "300.")

Karen Hanretty think the Thompson Draft Blog is a metaphor for a Thompson run. I agree. Details here (click under the mouse with the helmet) http://fredthompsonnews.com/
Oh - My - God!! People are starving. Katrina victims still don't have homes. Our soldiers are dying in Iraq. The administrative branch is falling apart. This is what a potential presidential candidate thinks is a good use of his time and money? Tell me, is ANYONE gonna have the nerve to mention a $400 haircut again. Simply amazing.

"You Can Leave Your Hat On"--Randy Newman
My deepest apologies. I was reading too fast and thought that Mr. Thompson was the "showerer". I haven't read the actual entry for the details so if my remarks were out of line, I really do humbly apologize.
What's the difference between what PacMan Jones did for the strippers and what corporate lobbyists do all the time to lawmakers? Just because one takes place in a strip club in Vegas and one in Washington DC, the recipients are doing the same thing for a living.
Independent, Texas........ Well, since you are just content to sit at your computer and do nothing more than complain, who are YOU to tell Fred Thompson what he should be doing or not doing? And yes, anytime a candidate takes campaign contributions and diverts them to personal expenditures, it should be mentioned again..and again.

casual observer: Uh - first: please see the apology that I posted above. Uh - second: I'm concerned that you think I sit at the computer and do nothing but complain. Would you mind telling me upon what you base that assertion? I'm not being sarcastic. I really wish to know what I've said or done to give you that impression. Uh - third: I agree whole-heartedly with your point of misuse of campaign contributions and will research to see if that was the basis for the "haircut" story as I hadn't seen that part before. No doubt due to my "fast reading" that generated my original posting to this site. Thank you for your time.

Dave in TN - Dude - did you get up on the wrong side of the bed? Your posts are usually much more thought provoking - today they're just provoking.... causuaobserver: I don't know why we're juxtaposing Fred Thompson and Jones or why we're talking about Las Vagas strip clubs, but I don't see where anyone is diverting funds -OR- why you did not notice that Independent, Texas obviously apologizes as well as complains and sits. So - is ye PRO Fred, or ANTI Fred?
What's wrong with a $400 Hair cut? Wish I could afford one. I would just like to be the barber.
ah Independent, we all makes mistakes. From reading most of the blogs on here, I think most people are just plain out of their minds. I don't take this seriously, If I did, i would own the blog and type 24/7, 365. So what that said, I will begin with the $400 haricut. With the tax proposals that Edwards made today, that $400 haircut should grow to $450 or $500 by the time he gets this thing passed thru congress. But I am not concerned, because I know by the end of the year he will be out of the race. This is his Walter Mondale moment, you never tell people you are raising taxes BEFORE you are elected. Did'nt her read the CCLinton playbook on how to pull a fast one on hard working taxpayers? Catrina people living in Trailers? Beats the heck out of a slant to and a porta potty. If they are still living in those things, then they must be the one's who are genetically stupid and need the most help. If you are waiting for a handout brother, pass it on to your grandkids, it will be that long before goverment will help you.
jerry, go to the "Rising from the Ruin" blogs. There are four whole new stories today.
First of all, Fred Thompson love him or hate him he will tell you the truth. I am sure the opposition is trying to dig up as much garbage on him as they can and I encourage them to do so. Just make sure you get your facts straight i.e. Dan Rather. Second of all, is anyone sick of the "Katrina victims" croud? Aside from innocent children who have an excuse, which of you would still be in that trailor eating the government cheese a year and a half later?
Chris, what you don't understand is that thousands of middle/upper middle class citizens are still hurting from Katrina due to HUGE increases in insurance premiums, and lack of stable infrastructure among other things. Many were shop and business owners, not lazy people waiting for a handout. If people of average or above average means (at least prior to Katrina) are having a difficult time getting their lives back together, how could it be any easier for those without much to start with?
Chris and jerry--I second what Lisa says about how middle/upper class citizens are still hurting from Katrina and are still having a hard time getting their lives back together. And you both should check out the "Rising from Ruin" blog, as Jane says. Other good online sources of Katrina recovery information out of Mississippi are the Gulf Coast News and the SunHerald. As for New Orleans and the rest of Louisiana's devastated parishes, the Times-Picayune, Baton Rouge Advocate, and other Louisiana papers have excellent websites. And the New York Times and Washington Post have also had informative articles on this topic. Maybe if you were both better-informed on what's actually happening in the storm zone 20 months after, jerry would not have made that repugnant remark about "Catrina people living in trailers" as being "genetically stupid." And as for Chris' question "Is anyone sick of the 'Katrina victims' croud?"--the only legitimate sufferers of "Katrina fatigue" are people in the storm zone tired out from dealing with the problems and hardships of the storm's aftermath. As long as recovery has been as slow as it has been and the Bush Administration is neglecting the area and keeping money already allocated tied up in red tape making it practically inaccessible to those who need it, Katrina recovery will be a valid issue and should not be ignored.
