From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
Vice President Dick Cheney has released a statement on Libby's sentencing:

"I relied on [Scooter] heavily in my capacity as Secretary of Defense and as Vice President. I have always considered him to be a man of the highest intellect, judgment and personal integrity... . Scooter is also a friend, and on a personal level Lynne and I remain deeply saddened by this tragedy and its effect on his wife, Harriet, and their young children.

"The defense has indicated it plans to appeal the conviction in the case. Speaking as friends, we hope that our system will return a final result consistent with what we know of this fine man."

What an ass... Cheney aranged for Libbey to take the blame, and yet he won't come clean.
In other words, Dick, "You hope he will continue to cover your ass."
A Cheney comment? Boy that carries a lot of weight!
"...a man of the highest intellect, judgment and personal integrity..." Too bad the same could never be said of you, Dick.
YOU are a friend oh weird one!!?? You do not have any friends oh weird one. You taken care of his family? I bet Libby is "Terrorfied" you Will take care of his family. He best keep his mouth shut and do his time, right Boss?
Scariest mo--th--fu---er I have ever seen in American politics, Cheney that is. Thank God this man's rein of terror ends December 2008, a day for America to celebrate it's independance again and reclaim it's freedom. God bless America.
He remains deeply saddened by this tragedy. It's good to know that with so many soldiers dying in Iraq, Scooter Libby's conviction for perjury is what Dick is saddened by. Speaks volumes.
Cheney isn't sorry a CIA agent's cover was blown, our national security was jeopardized, a journalist spent a year in jail to protect her sources, or that his administration will forever been known for trying to "punish" a critic with smears instead of counter- arguments. Cheney you would be right at home as Putin's right hand man. What a tragedy of bith you weren't botn in Russia.
Silence! Satan speaks!
"...and if he ever accuses me of "setting him up" again, I'll take his whole family hunting."
Can't make this stuff up....this is just too good to be true. I'm going to enjoy all the comments on this one.
Mr. Cheney is a truly the epitome of evil. He cares for NO ONE.
"I Get by With A Little Help From My Friends"-The Beatles
We really hate you, Dickster. We really do.
sorry, Cheney, my typing is bad " What a tragedy of birth you weren't born in Russia. " And I mean it.
Hey, Dick, what could you possibly need with a man of intellect, judgment, and personal integrity?
Amen to Amy, he would have done well in the former Soviet Union. But I got news for you, America may vote for Rudy Giuliani as their next president. And I can tell you as a New Yorker, that's someone who really would have excelled in the former Soviet Union or as Amy said, in the present Russia. Watch out America, the Fascists are coming.
Dick now has a pen pal.
In case anyone is wondering what was left out of the statement at the elipsis (...) here it is: "a man fully committed to protecting the vital security interests of the United States and its citizens" and I thought it was the VP he was protecting -- silly me.
Cheney is just being Cheney. He is amazed that someone in this corrupt administration was actually held accountable for his crimes. Cheney thinks that he, and they, are above the law, and it apparently never occurred to him that he can't control a jury and a judge. He has nothing but contempt for the citizens he is supposed to be serving, and the Constitution he swore to uphold. All of this started as nothing but revenge against Joe Wilson, and Cheney was all to happy to throw Libby, someone who trusted him, to the wolves to save his own ass. It just doesn't get any sorrier than this.
Or any scarier, Scott.
Scooter Libby is a traitor he should be shot not sent to jail. His boss ElDuce should be shot with him
Scott: "It just doesn't get any sorrier than this." Tragically, there are still 19 months of hell left for America and the world. Yes, Scott, it may get sorrier.
Tragedy??? It's a tragedy when small children die in a fire. It's a tragedy when a young person is killed in a car crash. Obviously, the tragedies in Iraq are too numerous to mention. Libby getting 2 years in prison for lying to federal prosecuters, while certainly terrible for he and his family, does not constitute a tragedy. I suspect even Libby himself could think of things that could happen to him that would be far more tragic.
Mark, you are of course right. We probably cannot even imagine how much worse the sorrierness can get.
What happened to all the Repubs? Please step forward and defend your man Cheney, the most Republican of Republicans.
Scooter, tune up your tennis racket, you are going to a Federal Country Club. Don't cry for him America.
See, folks, why there was such a big to-do about Shrub not wearing a seat belt? S'pose the little dunce hit a steer or a tree or whatever, and got himself killed. Who would become el presidente then? It would be the same dude that was supposed to shoot a quail in front of him, but was off by about 90 degrees. The same dude that is really behind missing Bin Laden in Afganistan, and had us aim, instead, 180 derees in the opposite direction! Geez- can you imagine what would happen if we let this pri*k go talk to Putin instead of dunce-boy? Anyone old enough to remeber "duck-and-cover"? Shrub- put on that seat belt afore I sic momma Barbara on youz!
I wonder if Fred Thompson is spending money on his appeals trial too.
Here here Scott, Texas. The theme of the decade is accountability, or rather, the lack there of. That and rewarding failure.
