From NBC's Mark Murray
In the the aftermath of this week's presidential debates in New Hampshire, Clinton and Romney come out on top in a new Mason-Dixon poll of likely primary voters there. Among likely Democratic primary voters, Clinton leads Obama, 26%-21%, with Edwards at 18%, Richardson at 9%, and Biden at 6%; no other Democratic presidential contender gets more than 1%.

Among likely GOP primary voters, Romney leads McCain, 27%-16%, followed by Giuliani at 15%, Fred Thompson at 12%, and Huckabee at 5%.

The Mason-Dixon poll -- which was given exclusively to NBC and MSNBC -- was taken June 4-7, 2007, and the Dem field has a margin of error of +/- 4.9%, and the GOP field has a margin of error of +/- 5.3%.

HILLARY CLINTON IS BY FOR THE BEST CHOICE FOR NEXT AMERICACN PRESIDENCY. VOTE HER TO VICTORY AND AMERICA WILL BOUNCE BACK AS THE MOST CHERISHED WORLD LEADER. HER PRESIDENCY WILL BRING PEACE & PROSPERTY ON THIS PLANET. WHOLE WORLD WILL BE INDEBTED FOR LIFE TO AMERICAN VOTERS. SHE WILL MAKE TODAT'S CACOPHONY A WORLDWIDE DELIGHT. THE THREAT OF TERRORISM WILL EVAPORATE OVERNIGHT.
CLINTON IS A LEFT WING LIBERAL! Who says "Once I am elected president, I will send my hunsband to the middle east to fix this mess" SOme leader to send the biggest loser in the world to the middle east, frick, too many left wing liberals in this country!
Republicans don't know what a socialist is. Funny, they don't mind corporate socialism that allows big businesses to steal money and not pay taxes, but god forbid all the children in our country get guaranteed health. These people are morally bankrupt and have no credibility. Health care would cost less than Bush's war, which wasn't funded by raising taxes. But Republicans only hear what they want and aren't interested in the truth or in facts. Anyone but a Republican in '08. Go, Mrs. Clinton, go!
Romney has proven that he can get things done, get them done on time, on budget and with integrity - a "results" oriented guy that we desperately need as president.
So a mormon, a black guy and and a woman lawyer walk into NH one day...no...wait...is that a cheesy jokeor what we're really dealin with...
"Hillary Clinton is a socialist bent on wealth redistribution and government healthcare." ~ Bush Republican If Hillary is a socialist, then Bush is a fear-mongering totalitarian fascist bent on theocratic corporatism and oligarchism.
Romney deserves to lead this country. He has every presidential qualities. Some People are incredibly stupid for critizing his church affiliation. Senate majority leader of the United States is also of the same church .
I don't understand why religion has to come into this. It never has with any other person that has run for President. Big deal if Romney is mormon, he has high morals (which is something this country needs) and look at his record of getting companies, states, etc. out of debt. He did wonders for the Olympics when they were in Utah. Everbody said we would make no money would be in debt - he made millions! He has the smarts to get the deficit in control. Give the guy a chance and judge him on his credentials, not his religion. I don't see you judging Hillary on her religion. She's already run the country anyway for Bill when he was President. You can't tell me he made all the decisions, he's not that smart.
A VOTE FOR ROMNEY IS A VOTE FOR SATAN!!!! A MORMON THEOCRACY WILL END CHRISTIANITY AS WE KNOW IT!
AS YOU KNOW REPUBLICAN PARTY IS THE PARTY FOR MILIONAIRE AND BILLIONAIRE- ARE YOU BETTER OFF TODAY IN REPUBLICAN ADM.?I GUESS NOT HUH-REPUBLICAN IS CORRUPT-HALLIBURTON OIL AND BSH IS CONNECTED IN SUADE ARABIA. THEY DINT CARE ABOUT PEOPLE HER EIN AMERICA?HOW ABOUT CREATING JOB NONE OF THAT.THIS COUNTRY IS BAD NOW BEC. OF YOUR BRAINLESS BRAIN PICK THE WRONG PRES. HOPE GOD HELP US TO PICK THE WRONG ONE-NO MORE REPUBLICAN PARTY PRES. PLEASE/ THEY HAVE 20 YEARS RULE THIS COUNTRY WHAT THEY DO?THEY CONSIME THE MONEY IN THIS COUNTRY. TRILLION DOLLARS SPEND IN IRAUE-RMEBER NO WMD- BAD REPUBLICAN ALL OF THEM GET OUT AND VOTE DEMOCRAT WILL YOU.
I am all for Hillary Clinton being our next presidnet. I have never actually been excited about a political candidate until she started running. At least not since I have been voting age. I really don't know how I feel about universal healthcare but if somoene can show me one candidate that I agree 100% with then I must be dead. Honestly though, even if you feel Senator Clinton or any other politician is dishonest, do you really want a politician, much less a president, that plays by all the rules? The world we live in and the countries we deal with unfortunately require someone a little on the shady side, we all know we secretly love politicians for it because it shows they are human just like us. Although I feel Senator Clinton has high moral integrity and a genuine concern for making our country better.
Hillary Clinton is a train wreck. Hussein Obama inhaled. Edwards pays $400 to get his locks shorn. Do the Dems have anyone else waiting in the wings? None of these is the least bit presidential.
The direction of this country belongs to the people, not the special interest so until we can stop providing support for the big oil and Cheney and Bush support systems, the country will remain hostage to the will of the man and not the people. It's time for a change and it's time for someone with interigty and not arrogance and stubborn as cornerstones for their decision making. If that means Hillary or some other demo, then it's time.
voe democrat this time republican destroy this country eight years of reagan?4 years of bush sr?8 years of bush jr?now what hapen our country ebcome a third world country/no job-trillion dolars or billion defficet/this country is already go done th tube.we dont have anymore surplus /job creation and etc. that bill clinton create or mange-dont you know how to pick the good/well expreience candidate?pick hillary ull be happy and u wont regret ur vote for her. ur phsychic lady juliet
Anyone of the candidates is better suited than HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON, to be the next President of the United States of America. Hillary it is time to go back to Arkansas. Well if you want to stay in NY why not great state to live in but not as a senator. What about a private citizen ? Dominique A. Bodevin - New York city
For those of you who think that national health insurance will cost the government a lot of money, look at what people not having health care costs us. That is simple economics for those of us who have read an economics book. If Bush hadn't gotten us into Iraq, there would be plenty of money for health care. At least under Bill Clinton we didn't have a hugh deficit. Go Hillary. She has the strength to lead this country. Enough of the Republicans. Look where we are now.
The best possible ticket is Gore-Obama and Hilary as Secretary of State, a definite counter to the Condy Years. There should be room for Richardson, perhaps as Secretary of Defense, and Bill Clinton as international Goodwill Ambassador. All Bush Republicans must replace our troops in Iraq as they are brought home. The most committed people will do the best job.
As a registered Independent, I have no ties to either political party, nor do I wish for any. On the Democratic side, I thought Obama might be the best choice a few weeks ago, but lately he seems to be developing into more talk than substance. Edwards "two Americas" idea ignores the middle class. I may give Clinton a second look and Richardson is also intriguing. On the Republican side, Guiliani seems the most electable and is a refreshing change from the far right candidates usually nominated. McCain committed political suicide when he publicly announced he wants to continue the Iraq war. Romney seems to be constantly re-defining himself which is rarely a good thing.
It's good to see Edwards doing well in the NH poll. (within 8 of the lead) He is the best choice for the nation. I like how he is a self made man who remembers his roots and wants to end poverty. I also like his plans to stamp out terrorism and not stamp out debate like Bush does with his slogans about a "war on terrorism." It's simiar to the Bushco war on drugs, war on obesity, war on freedom to make unwire taped phone calls, etc...
Hey Andrew from Utah. When you write "you are" as a contraction it's you're, not your. Get an education before you vote.
the media is lying to u ron paul is winning all over they dont even include him in the polls ron is the only person to save the usa oh yea bill clinton first lady? got cigars?
These polls are irelevant at this time. Speaking as a Democrat, Hillary would be no different than GW Bush. Her presidency will be marred by partisanship, cronyism and corruption. It's like putting lipstick on a pig. To those that think Hillary is the answer, please wake up. Let's give someone outside the Bush-Clinton gene pool a chance. It's time to move forward and choose a new leader rather than rehash a relic from the past.
this is a total sham bill clinton back in the white house? wow do we not see who supports hillary the same people that bought bush. that would be good for america
I am constantly amazed at the ignorance of the American people. Bush's administration has totally corrupted this country, monetarily, psychologically, criminally, not to mention the fact that he has given big business the ability to commit legalized thievery. If you will recall, the Clinton Administration ended with our country having no national debt! And I find it insulting that men think a woman can't run this country well! Men have done a terrible job to date - case in point, they wage wars, create economic chaos, have no sympathy for the plight of those weaker than themselves, and generally have run this country into the ground. Give Hillary a chance!
During the election period all of the nominees are driven by money and party power brokers. They are groomed by others, prompted what to say by others, told what they believe by pollsters, etc. It would be refreshing to hear any of them "speak their beliefs" without being told what they should or should not believe by the powers that control them.
What is wrong with a socialist bent on wealth distribution and govt. healthcare? When Hillary becomes president, she will redistribute wealth so that the middle class finally gets a fair shake. We need universal healthcare because the U.S. ranks 42nd in the world while countries that have it like Cuba are among the top. When she talks about "raising taxes" she needs to make a better point that this is raising taxes on the wealthy, not middle class. Most plans to pay for it are to raise taxes on people making $200k or more and at least 65% of this country is nowhere near that. Mark - that contradicts your example of how universal healthcare won't work because we will have the taxes and everyone can benefit. I can understand why the wealthy are scared of Hillary becoming Madame President!
Mark, So u think that u r getting health care for free? Isn't what ur employer paying to the insurance company on ur behalf coming out of your salaray - for they surely would have paid u more if not for the insurance? We are paying 16% of gdp on health care (the highest in the world), so obviously that 16% comes out of our income, by whatever means. Mathematically, there is no way that we would pay the highest percentage of gdp and yet pay the lowest out of our pockets.
Hilliary Clinton...Dont make me laugh. She has no chance in hell of winning. Yes she may be the pride and joy of the Democratic Party but to the rest of the country she is just a b*&^h with no policy experience. Being a Senator does not make you a governor. You have to have governed something, managed budgets, done something more than babysit a staff of privledged college pukes. SHE WILL NEVER WIN THE SOUTH. Think its a joke? Wait and see.
I think that government run healthcare is a ridiculous idea. We built this country on capitalism not socialism and as far as I see that's the best way. Yes, not everyone gets the top notch in the capitalist world , but it forces people work hard instead of just sitting around waiting for the government to take care of all their problems. We need intelligent people in this world that can think for themselves not those who only rely on others. I think that Romney is a good man and could possibly bring some good things to this country such as the importance of religion. I don't think that being a Mormon makes you any less a person than someone of another religion. I think it shows that he is a good man devoted to his family and has high moral standards. Yet, I fear for those people who will vote for Clinton, without knowing her platform, just because she is a woman. What a sad day.
DON'T LET THE CLINTON'S DREAM BECOME ANOTHER CLINTON NIGHTMARE!!
After 8 yrs. of a Republican President in 2008, do we really want another Republican for another 8 yrs., has Americans gone mad-Vote anybody but a Republican.
I hope that Hillary wins the democratic nomination, because she will lose the presidency! She can not get the moderates or republicans to vote for her because they have spent the last 15 years developing a deep-seeded hatred for her. I'm not even a republican and I think that I would gouge my own eyes out if she were to win. The only candidate on that list that has the expirience needed to be president is Mitt Romney. I hate to tell you this folks, but Senators are not executive officers and thus are not qualified for the executive position in our government. We need someone running this government that the country can rally behind. A win from Hillary would divide the country even further than it is already. I support Mitt Romney, and I would encourage you to read more about him and look at his record...the country needs to be united, if we divide anymore we will just fall lapart.
We have had enough of the Clintons and their lying and her ideas are clearly socialist--We also don't need any more Bushes We need a fresh face fresh ideas and one who can stop the immigration over the border--its an easy law to legislate---stop all border crossing first and now, enforce our current laws and arrrest illegals as we find them, make all the border violaters be in line with all others such as those from Europe
We should count our lucky stars Mitt Romney has dedided to run for president. This man saved the 2002 Winter Olympic games by making it one of the most successful ever. Then as a Republican Governor of Massachusetts among a Democratic majority legislator he reversed the downward spiral the economy of the state was headed in and balanced the budget every year he was in office. What other candidate running for president other than Romney has ever come close to doing this. NONE! We, as americans really need someone of this caliber running our country. He established healthcare for everyone in the state of Massachusetts without raising taxes and his program is now the new model for healthcare around the country. I suggest we all do our homework and check this guy out! WE owe it to ourselves and each other to understand what this man has accomplished and can accomplish. I hope to God he is our next president.
To all you Clinton supporters - Sen. Clinton is UNELECTABLE. She won't get within 5% of the Republican in a general election. Don't forget that. Pick another Dem.
Regarding Hillary....talk about sleeping your way to the top...
It's great to see Obama doing well in the polls. He presents a refreshing alternative to Clinton and could very well win the nomination. If you're not sure who to vote for or aren't happy with the other choices, consider Obama in 2008.
Did anyone see the film documentary 'The Clinton Chronicles'? OR read Dick Morris' book 'Rewriting History'? Come on people ... the Clinton's are scarey. I prefer to be listed as 'anonymous'.
Discover more about Hillary Clinton by reading the book "The Final Days", by Barbara Olson, who was killed on the jet that crashed at the Pentagon on 9/11. It will make you weep for America!
Hillary Clinton "All the Way!" I know it's hard to digest.... a woman for president of our great americas. But, guys let's face it....She is without a doubt..The best "Wo-man" for the job. Vote her in and you will see the best ran government on earth. I like Romney he appears to be a good man, but a good man does not a good leader make. What's going to happen in the end is that Clinton will be the democratic nominee and she will run against Rudy. Rudy is a self-righteous womanizer. I would not judge him totally on that because he did a lot for NY in the days of 911. He is courageous, I applaud him..But it's time for a woman to run this country. Men have been in charge for a long time...look at the mess we are in. It's time to change course..It's time to see what a woman can do. I believe she will surprise some of you doubters. Let's put our prejudices aside for the good of the country.
Clinton will destroy our country if she is elected. Her, like other democratic candidates feed you lies. They criticize bush for going to Iraq, yet they all voted yes to going. Now they deny it or say it was a mistake. Yes well maybe Bush feels the same way but there is no way we can pull out now. I am voting for any republican that will not grant those illegal immigrants amnesty. Kick them out and put up a wall. Clinton wants to give us shared wealth. Well thats sounds like communism to me. I thought America was the symbol of Capitalism and of Democracy. So remember a vote for Clinton is a vote for communism and I don't want to be saying hello Comrad anytime soon. Vote Mitt Romney he fought as a conservative in the most liberal state ever. So he has experience with dealing with the idiot liberals.
Bill Whitfield - I'm always amused by people who can't refer to a woman without using the b*** word. Why can't you say she aggressive to the extreme, hard nosed, etc. Which, by the way, are positive traits in men, yet negatives in women. She would be an excellent president.
Hillbillary & Osama don't have a chance. I'd like to see the statistics on their supportesrs. I would bet that 90% or more have a "public service" type job. A job that collects from other peoples tax money. If the demorats put either one of those 2 on the ballot, they are giving away the presidency to the republicans again. What we need is a viable 3rd party.
I am ready for a mormon or a woman, even a mormon woman, but these issues have nothing to do with running a country. We need an honest, authentic leader who has a successful track record, evolves when appropriate, and can get out us of this "BushMess". Romney has done it at several levels in the public and private sectors.
Simply put: Hillary!
A couple of posters have said, "Hillary Clinton is a socialist bent on wealth redistribution and government healthcare." Is that supposed to be a bad thing??? I'm with Angie from Utah . . . I'll have a difficult time deciding between Clinton and Romney.
Romney is a panderer and a political opportunist. If we elect someone like Romney after eight years of the disaster of George W. Bush, then I'll know for sure we're in our twilight as a nation. JUST SAY "NO" TO 'MULTIPLE MITT FLOPNEY!'
I don't trust Clinton, I've had it with all Republicans and their spending habits. McCain love's the Iraq war more than our problems here in the U.S. so he is out for me. I only hope Al Gore enters the race before we have to vote again for another poor selection of candidates.
"Hilary Clinton is the only candidate, on either side, who has the experience, ability, and strength to bring this country back to the top. Those who doubt her will be very surprised next year :). " Are you joking!? She has one term in the Senate; that's IT!! You're telling me she's more experienced than McCain (Senator for numerous terms, war hero), Richardson (Sec'y of Energy, UN Ambassador, and Governor of NM), Biden (6 term Senator), or Giuliani even (US Attorney, 2 term mayor of a city larger than most of our states)...that's just ludicrous. Being first lady, moving to a state so you can win their open Senate seat, and changing your tune for every audience your put in front of (including your accent) - does not a qualified President make.
What I know is that when the Clintons were in office, the world was at peace, gas was VERY affordable, everybody was making money, and Mr. Clinton freaking won a wore without losing ONE soldier! OK, so he lied about sex, but NOBODY died because of it. Right now, the current White House occupants lie every time they breathe, and thousands have died because of their lies. And they call themselves Christiams?! PU-LEASE! Clintons anytime, dude.
