Last night, the group, “Indian-Americans for Hillary” held a fundraiser at the Sheraton New York Hotel in Manhattan. In some ways this was the coming out party for the Indian-American community’s ability to fundraise and organize for a high-profile candidate, and it came just days after an Obama opposition research document blasted Clinton's ties to Indian-American donors (Obama later apologized for the document).

Clinton spoke of her and former President Bill Clinton’s visits to India, and praised the Indian-American community’s commitment to education. Her speech ended to a standing ovation and the familiar strains of KT Tunstall’s “Suddenly I See.” But nowhere to be heard was her anointed campaign tune, Celine Dion’s “You and I.”

Indian-Americans not to be confused with American-Indians. Are American-Indians the only people who have America first? Who the hell are the racist that hyphenated everyone in America? I'll leave the other marines in here to teach H P the difference between the army and marines. I remember the army thing as "Ain't Ready to be Marines Yet". Which H P could never be either one. Am I jealous of people who make money? No, H P I am not, just that people like Hillary who seem to make their money the same way Joe Kennedy did in Boston, by being very unsavoury and very distrustful. Hillary truly is the Joe Kennedy of the 21st Century.

H P and Paul have you two ever even served in the military? I take offense to downgrading the Army. There are plenty of scrub MOS's (jobs) but there are also a lot of good jobs. If I remember correctly the Marines, Navy, and Air force seemed get a lot of their specialized training on Army bases from Army instructors. I served with a lot of bright, talented, and good individuals and with all that's going on in the world (Iraq) and all our brave men and women are doing for us right now it would be nice to see some respect for our soldiers regardless of what branch they're serving. As to the Hillary story who cares... I think MK,MO said it the best "hillary knows how to campaign, obama knows how to speak, neither can win the general election".

MK, your remark about about Obama and Hillary being unable to win the general election, while I agree with it, smacks of an implicit "so let's elect John Edwards" punch line. Wake up. They called "time of death" on that campaign last week, and even that was after a very prolonged, albeit futile, attempt at resuscitation. The final shovelful of dirt on that coffin comes this weekend with the financial results.

It's great that she talked about education. Education is very important in the fight against poverty and inequality, which is why it's one of the Millennium Development Goals. There is more than enough money to better all of our schools and give children the education they deserve. On an internation scale, the Borgen Project states that just $12 billion annually provides primary education for every child in the world, yet we have chosen to increase our military budget to $522 billion instead.

In today's news, comedian Jerry 'here-I-sit, buns-a-flexin'- tryin'-to-make-another-Texan' Corpus Christi used the words "Very unsavory" and "Very distrustful" when describing a couple of politicians other than Dick and Dubyuh. While he questioned the questionable way people make money, he made no mention of 'Halliburton Dick'. Details at ten.
