Street endorses Hillary

From NBC's Lauren Appelbaum
Clinton today. Her entrance music was none other than Celine Dion's "You and I," the song chosen by internet voters. She delivered her typical stump speech with a twist -- adding in a line about Philadelphia or crime in each section. Clinton usually talks about the people she deems to be invisible to the Bush Administration. In addition to the child in a crumbling school and a single mom looking for affordable child care, she added in a mayor "struggling to turn the tide on all problems that every city confronts." Later, when listing the goals she wants to set -- among them universal health care and energy security -- Clinton called for "getting police back on the streets so that we out-gun and out-man the criminals, and we can begin to take our streets back like we were in the 90s."

She drew upon her experiences as first lady, stating her knowledge of how hard the job is makes her the prime Democratic candidate. "I'm very proud to be making history running as a woman for President of the United States, but I'm not running because I am a woman," Clinton said. "I'm running because I think I am the most qualified and experienced person to hit the ground running in January 2009."

A week ago, Obama said only Bill Clinton -- not Hillary -- would be prepared on day one. When Clinton repeated her line she would be so today, she received a lengthy applause. A few moments later, she said she's not out to talk badly about any other candidate. "I'm proud to be running with such great candidates. One of the blessings of this election is you don't have to be against anybody. We have a lot to be grateful for and the Democratic party will stand united because we know how much is at stake in this election."

Why must Hillary Clinton turn everything into an attack on her?? Obama didn't talk badly about her--which is what she was inferring with that comment. He spoke the truth the only person who would be ready on day one would be Bill Clinton or any other ex-president. Being first lady does NOT equal experience as president of the united states. Does she think we are that dumb? Lastly, what is with all the endorsments from mayors of big cities? Do they really sway the electorate one way or the other??
Especially if the mayor (well his staff) has undergone several FBI indictments and will undoubtedly undergo his own when he leaves office. Remember that the FBI had bugged his office? I guess it doesn't matter who you get your endorsements from.
Sounds like someone knows where the pardons are going to be for sell.
Unnamed sources claim that the Mayor may rescind his support after hearing Ms. Dion, when he was promised the music would be TSOP.
Using Hillary's logic, I suppose Barbara Bush, Laura Bush or Nancy Reagan are qualified to be President too.  I guess in Hillary's warped mind, being First Lady equates to the same constitutional responsibilities as president.
And of course she goes to a city where a restaurant is being attacked because they demand that only English is to be spoken.  I support that eating establishment 100% in their battle.  If Hillary is getting all these people to back her, why can't she put Obama away?
Like Edwards, Hillary's quest to address grievances of the poor is noble, but most of those who will be voting are not poor, so she may want to start thinking about how to take back what Bush has stolen from the middle class. Going after criminals on the street is also laudable, but I would like to know what she plans for the criminals in the White House, and racketeering outfits like Halliburton. I'm tired of those a-holes running loose in the streets.
Good Job HIllary!!
As a former resident of Philly, Mayor Streets' indorsement is a negative endorsement. Rendells endorsement would have more impact. John Street is considered a joke, and been corrupt since day one.
In fact, Hillary Clinton wasn't verbally attacked by Barack Obama. He's got more important comments to make. Methinks she turned his comments into a deliberate attack of her because it plays to her hype; and, it makes spin for media.

Remember, she's IN TO WIN - no matter what - just like when she ran for the Senate for New York State. Her speeches then were subtly manipulative and they are now.

Remember that she moved from Arkansas to New York a year or so prior to running to establish residency. Her campaign speeches were embedded with subtle manipulative words and phrases to make her sound as though she'd been a LONG-TIME New Yorker rather than the fairly recent Arkansas transplant.

By the way, despite what she says, OF COURSE she's running because she's a woman.

No, we aren't dumb but it sure seems like Clinton thinks so. Hopefully, at state caucuses she'll do poorly. It's time for America to have a solid, straightforward leader -someone FAR better that Clinton.

Someone's who's NOT manipulative, is genuine, intelligent, has solid ethics, solid family life, is a good listener, has good judgement, good with policy, good with people, understands racial issues, understands immigration issues, understands international relations, and wants a government BY THE PEOPLE and FOR THE PEOPLE.

That's Barack Obama. Hopefully, he WILL be the Democratic party nominee.

Great endorsement!!! especially from a Mayor whos city has seen over 200 murders already this year and was shouted off the stage by citizens
Last week, thirty pro-Obama supporters at the pro-Obama forum at pro-Obama Howard University with a pro-Obama audience and pro-Obama auestioners watched the debate, and twenty-seven said Sen. Clinton won handily, and fourteen who came in saying they would vote for Sen. Obama left saying they will now vote for Sen. Clinton.  Why do you suppose that happened?  You can't blame it on the media, and you can't whine about the rules or anything else being stacked against Sen. Obama.  As with the other two debates, the cream simply rose to the top.
DC Joe...I think you misspoke.  But never understimate the willingness of people to be pandered to.  Espically that black women AID's schmidt.  Regardless once everyone starts talking about the Clinton pardons...people are going to realize that they don't want to go thru this again.  In addition what a hypocrit she is.  This is why she didn't want to talk about the pardons earlier.  By the way I'm a democrat and I don't want another 4 years of this!!!!
Who cares!
I am a male and I think its about time we have a woman prez. I think she has the experiance. Who do you really think was running the White House when Hubby was in it? It sure was not him. She had a huge amount of input to hubby when he was prez. I think she will do good.
D.G. - you should see the news coverage Clinton is getting in Iowa with this recent "surge." Her first rally with the former president yesterday, and the coverage from at least one of the local major network outlets was laughable. They showed interviews with only a few people coming in, all of whom said they were just coming to see a former president. And they reported on how the campaign inflated the estimates of crowd size, along with making a comparison to how the actual crowd was dwarfed by a recent Obama rally.
