A few nuggets in the FEC reports

From NBC's Mark Murray
Now that the campaigns have filed their 2nd quarter campaign-finance reports with the Federal Election Commission, here are a few interesting nuggets buried in these reports -- on the Democratic side:
-- ousted Grey's Anatomy actor Isaiah Washington gave Obama the max of $2,300 back in April
-- controversial Clinton friend/donor Vinod Gupta and his wife gave Clinton $3,600 and $4,600, respectively (in both primary and general election money)
-- employees at the hedge fund Edwards worked for, Fortress Investment Group, gave Edwards a combined $3,300, although that amount is down substantially from what he received from Fortress employees in the first quarter.

Also, actor George Clooney gave money to Obama ($2,300), although he didn't list his profession. Also, we spy that ex-tennis star Martina Navratilova gave money to Edwards ($1,000). And, of course, there's much, much more...

As a liberal, I cannot figure out where Clinton's support is coming from. She is not for pulling out of Iraq, she is for unilateral pre-emptive militar actions against country's like IRan, and she is a dangerously fanatical free trader with ties to Indian and Chinese outsourcing companies that propose shipping American jobs and technology to India and China at a rate that not even Bush would support. The NYT did some rearch on her stances that show she is has more corporate ties than any of the *Republican* candidates. Take at look at this, to get an idea of where this disater in the making is coming from: http://graphics8.nytimes.com/packages/pdf/politics/memo1.pdf
First read.........still no mention of contributions to obama from a hedge fund company in chicago.  It is much more than edwards received. Can you possibly to your job and find out the exact amount?
She gets her support from criminals, liars, idiots and morons.  She always has been a republican when it comes to money, she doesn't care about the liberal agenda.  She is just running so she can say she can be president.
Why didn't you point out that the US military gave the most to GOP Ron Paul???

hillary is part of the problem, not the answer
Jerry how does that make Hillary any different than any other presidential candidate. Bush can give a damm about what the GOP wants, its about him and him only ...see a pattern?
Who can remember anything Hillary or Obama ever said?
Shows you how stupid all the democratic candidates are except Gravel.  They all think they are running against the President.  He is not running this time.  Let's get to the bone and stop chewing on the fat.
Mark:  I think the information from the FEC reports is important and thank you for sharing a few nuggets - please continue doing so.  I like to know where those who have money, spend their money.  There has not been a more critical time in the last 50 years so choosing who you are going to vote for has additional importance.  At the very least, I would hope everyone would set aside party affiliations and vote for the person who is going to restore democracy to this country; someone who is going to represent 90% of the country, instead of the top 10% of the wealthiest Americans; someone who will respect the Constitution and our laws; and, someone who will care more about what is best for America than their own ego or legacy.  Politics is full of ego and hubris - what we need more than ever is someone who is humble yet confident in their knowledge, intelligence and abilities and someone who has a moral compass.  I have yet to see a candidate currently running who is worthy or deservant of leading the greatest country in the World.  Please, make your vote count and study the history of any candidate you are considering voting for and not how the rich and famous are going to vote.  Think for yourself and make a decision based on what is best for the country as a whole!
I love that Jerry thinks that Bush won't have any effect on the next election cycle.  Jerry, the Bush administration is one of the best allies that the liberal progressive movement will have in 2008.  If it hadn't been his gross negligence, unprecedented incompetence, and complete detachment from reailty, the GOP might have avoided the implosion that is going on right now.  So.. again, thanks for voting for the President that destroyed the GOP.  We on the left really appreciate it in a bitter sweet kind of way.

And Dave - maybe the First Read team isn't reporting that Obama received alot of money from a hedge fund company in Chicago because he didn't? I don't know myself but it is a possibility. You apparently found about it.  Maybe you should put up a link of your own. I'm also failing to see why that is a bad thing...

I didn't know Texas Rangers made more than 200,000 a year. As I understand it, Democrats want to roll back the tax cuts to the wealthy Bush instituted and which has created an historic wealth gap in the country. They are not talking about taxing people to death, just returning the tax structure to the way it was in the roaring 90's. (Roaring for the whole country, remember? Now it just roars for the top 600 families.)
> Democrats want to roll back the tax cuts <

Euphemism Alert!

Democrats will raise taxes.

It is what they do.  It is in their blood.

> roaring 90's. <

Roaring 00's.  Stock market at record SUSTAINABLE highs.  Took a real drubbing on the overvalued Nasdaq in the '90s.

And no, TRs don't make 200000.  But we aspire to make it, and don't hold it against those that do.
Amy B, you've got a lot to talk about, with Maine being driven deeper and deeper into debt because of your state's problems with spending LOL.  Riddle me this Amy; Why did your state goverment spend $990,000 on landscaping at the state capitol building when more and more people in Maine have no health insurance?
You will find that the hedge fund homeport for FORTRESS,Edwards moneymaker,is located on an island in the Caribbean.Wonder how many of Johns ''two Americas''have offshore accounts that allow its investors, including Edwards,to avoid paying taxes?
