Our friends at Hotline made this excellent point: We all know by now that Paul has more cash on hand than McCain. But he also has more cash on hand than seven other presidential hopefuls combined (Tancredo, Brownback, Huckabee, Kucinich, Hunter, T. Thompson, and Gravel).

I guess he will have enough money for his next congressional race.
Ron Paul also has a non-monetary asset that surpasses the other candidates... Grass roots support.  People are flocking to all-volunteer groups because they care that strongly about him.
That's because he is a REAL CONSERVATIVE and not a right wing nut job.
Ron Paul is slowly but surely catching on because the voters are gettin tired of the same old type of politicians on both sides. ITS OVER MCCAIN!
Ron Paul is making waves and gaining momentum. Now watch the MSM first raise public awareness and build him up, but only so they can slam him later with the help of the establishment's allies.
Ron Paul has done remarkably well in raising money... and He is also the only presidential candidate on the republican side who raised more this quarter than last quarter... Based on his message I hope more people vote for him
President Paul
Correction the the above commenter: it's not Paul that people care about, it is this Country.
Other interesting facts about Ron Paul:

1.  Ron Paul has almost as much net cash on hand as Mitt Romney (to get that number, you deduct the $9 million of debt that the Romney campaign owes).

2.  Ron Paul has been the number one most searched person on the entire blogosphere for the last three months straight per http://www.technorati.com

3.  Ron Paul has more than 4 times as many volunteers as Obama, 22 times more volunteers than Hillary, and hundreds of times more volunteers than Giuliani or Romney, per Meetup.com.  In addition, new Ron Paul volunteers is growing at a rate of 36 times faster than Obama, and 96 times faster than Hillary as documented at:

http://www.meetup.com/topics/polact/cand/pres/

4.  Liberty is popular and honesty is popular.  Ron Paul leads in polls of people who have heard him speak.  And it is still 5 months before the primaries, so there is still plenty of time for people who haven’t yet heard Ron Paul's message to hear it.

Go Ron Paul!

MSM - time to wake up. Real people are on the internet finding out about this guy.  And real people are out there everyday campaigning for him ON THEIR OWN. When is the last time you saw a homemade sign for Hillary? This just may be the straw that breaks the MSM back.  I am cancelling my cable TV as I feel I get nothing worthwhile from it.  The new media is a rampaging wild fire. People are so hungry for an opportunity to find out what's really happening in the world.  If any of you for any reason don't know about Ron Paul and what he stands for- please go watch one of his videos on youtube and decide for yourself which way you want our country to go.
Vote Ron Paul 2008.

To quote Princess Leah, "...he's our only hope." ..for America!

His other non-monetary asset that no other candidates appear to have: honesty and integrity.
Thanks to MSNBC for pointing this out. At the very least it means he will be in the debates as the conscience of the GOP, desparately trying to remind the party what it really means to be a Republican (or at least a Condervative).
I also saw this report saying that he had the biggest number of contributions from current military and verterans. Can anyone at MSNBC corroborate this?
http://thespinfactor.com/thetruth/2007/07/16/military-support-for-the-republican-candidates

Peace be with you.

Ron Paul has much mor in support than ALL other GOP combined.  In fact, according the FEC reports, the US armed forces selected Ron Paul with their wallets!!!  Why has the 'media' failed to report this?  See for yourself, http://tinyurl.com/2oared
He's a hyper-right fanatic that will take the Social Security and Medicare away from your granny in a heartbeat, but at least he understands why we were attacked and why this current war in Iraq has to stop.  I say nominate him.  I won't vote for him, but he's the best of the bunch on that side.
Ron Paul's message resonates with Americans from all walks of life, and the movement is growing exponentially.  Those who hear Ron Paul speak love his message; furthermore, he is principled and consistent.  I have never donated to a Presidential campaign until Ron Paul.  And tonight's my meetup group....Go Ron!

Ron Paul has my vote! He is in our prayers!
Ron Paul will NOT take Social Security and Medicare away from your granny.  He has repeatedly stated his commitment to help those who have become dependent on these programs.  However, he will let the younger generation have the OPTION of opting out of the Social Security tax IF THEY SO CHOOSE.  The Ron Paul campaign is about liberty, abundance, and choices.
doug in san diego

He has no intention of taking social security away.  He is a link to a great interview from a liberal paper

Ron Paul is very impressive.  He has support all over the US.  I think it is impossible to calculate how much he "has on hand". Check out just a few things people have done across the country:

Actually, Ron Paul has stated on many occasions that we need to keep our Social Security commitments. As I recall, his proposal is to give people the choice to opt out of SS, keep their SS taxes, and provide for their own retirement (e.g. individual retirement accounts).
Our next President of the United States.

RON PAUL!
I am a liberal democrat. I personally have given his campaign $350.00. Handed out hundreds of flyers, spent dozens of hours blogging and working on websites. Spent over a hundred dollars and hours of time on banner making. Not to mention going out on foot to the meet-ups and spreading the good word.  If you add up the grassroots effort Dr Paul would have to have spent 20 or 30 million so far
Ron Paul is Founding Father material.

Don't miss his interview at

The crack about taking granny's social entitlements away is fear mongering.Paul has repeatedly said that dismantling our entitlement system is not his priority. He said that if that were to happen, it would have to happen over the course of generations, not an administration.  As a Constitutionalist, he knows he is obligated to pay the entitlements to the people that they were promised to. (Not so our current office holders, who insist they do not need to include those obligations as debt when reporting shortfalls. Their logic? They can cut it off at any time.)
"He's a hyper-right fanatic that will take the Social Security and Medicare away from your granny in a heartbeat, but at least he understands why we were attacked and why this current war in Iraq has to stop."
Thanks Doug, for getting it half-right.
Does he want to get rid of SS and Medicare? Eventually, yes. But not in a heartbeat (or even a decade). He recognizes that many in our nation have become dependent on the Feds, and he is very sympathetic to that. No question that any change that he would suggest made, would occur over a long adjustment period. This dependence has built up over many years and will take many years to get over. But get over it we must, if we are to survive as a nation for the next 100 years.
I'd love to see Ron Paul get the GOP nomination. But I really doubt it will happen. These "meetups" I keep hearing about are great, and I'm glad this campaign has volunteer momentum. But at some point your going to need professional organization in key states (early states) - people who know how to do more than put up signs.

Speaking of volunteer numbers, though, I wonder how accurate it is to say Paul has x times more than any other candidate. I would guess most volunteers for other campaigns are oganizing through the campaign itself, immediately falling under the structure of that professional staffing I mentioned, and not going through this unaffiliated website.
If Ron Paul wins the GOP nomination, I'll vote for him. Otherwise, I'll vote democrat. I just can't vote for any of the war mongers.
If you think Romney and Giuliani have so many volunteers, then why did they spend $48 million between the two of them in the last 3 months alone???

What are they spending the money on?  A diamond mine?
He voted against Bush on the war in Iraq .... Karl Rove will never let him win a GOP presidential nomination ...
RP's an honest man and his record backs that up. Who else out there can come close to making that claim? Forget about these Liberal/Neo-Con Globalists and there plans for a North American Union. Ron Paul is a true patriot...Hillary, Rudy, etc...they're spineless traitors who will gladly cash in our sovereignty. Dr. Paul is the answer in 2008. Thanks.
Doug:  you wrote: "[Paul] will take the Social Security and Medicare away from your granny".

I think that is incorrect.  He indeed wants to abolish Social Security and Medicare, but I think that he mentioned his intention of transfering the current overseas spending from funding overseas wars to helping the older generations who can't help but depend on government.

I used to support democrats more, but I am convinced that Ron Paul transcends both parties.
Ron Paul is a Libertarian not a REPUBLICAN who are war mongers and not true Goldwater conversatives i.e small government and not bankrupting future generations.
Unfortunately, the Democrats up for election are all war mongerers as well (except Kucinich and Gravel).

They are interested in ending "George Bush's War," not stating that they are ready to start "progressive wars."

If you want to end the "War is the answer" mindstate, vote for Ron Paul. He will set our goals on things beneficial for the entire world. By understanding who we are, we can help the world. Right now we are forsaking the Rule of Law and looking to authoritarian politicians to save us.

I would rather be American, I'm voting for Ron Paul.
He is smart and with real brains. Go RP...
HP, all the mainstream democrats are just as pro war as the mainstream republicans.  Go read up on your buddy Obama.
You cannot measure the worth of support we are giving Dr. Paul. I tell people about him everyday, make signs and flyers with my own money. Ron Paul is going to win this campaign, because he wins over hearts and minds.

John McCain squandered his chances. I wish he would withdraw now, and not waste our time by attending more debates.
Wow, the Ron Paul brigade is out in full force today.  Good to hear there are other republican candidates (Juan in FL - He may be a libertarian, but he is a candidate for the republican nomination)with a little bit of backbone and reason.

I will say this to Paul supporters, you don't have to cherrypick stats/websites (4x the volunteers of Obama according to meetup.com changes dramatically the other way if you look at facebook.com) to make the case for your candidate.  That is what the other candidates do, and Mr. Paul is different.

I hope to hear more about him in the future because I can not stand McCain, Guiliani, Romney or Thompson.
Doug, San Diego CA, Ron Paul will not take Social Security away from your grandmother.  Everyone above me articulated that he wants to eventually get rid of this (failed) program by letting young people choose to opt out (since we know we're not going to get anything from it).

But nobody mentioned that RON PAUL IS THE ONLY PREZ CANDIDATE WHO HAS NEVER voted to take a dime out of the social security account.  Who is taking Social Security away from your Granny again??  Who?

NOT RON PAUL.  He is the only one trying to SAVE Social Security for people who are already depending on it, while hopefully giving younger people a chance to keep their money and invest it the way they see fit.  It's nuts to plan your retirement around $1,400 a month anyway.

But to repeat, Ron Paul is the ONLY PREZ CANDIDATE NEVER TO VOTE TO SPEND MONEY OUT OF THE SOCIAL SECURITY FUND.

That's integrity.
Thank you MSNBC for reporting on ron paul better than the other news networks.   While I still don't feel any of you are giving him the attention he deserves, I do notice you're better treatment of him.  If you keep it up, you might even get me as a full time viewer again, rather than someone who turned of mainstream news long ago.
Ghouliani and Romney need big bucks. Who would work for people like them if they weren't getting paid?
Go Ron Paul!

As soon as McCain drops from this campaign (which can't be to far off as he's out of funding), the media will have to start talking a little more about Ron Paul.  With the primary election so far off, Paul has plenty of time to continue and increase on his already impressive momentum.

I just want to point out if all the people who say they'd vote for Ron Paul if he had a chance actually vote for him in the primary...he's got a chance!

We are his chance.  YOU are Ron Paul's chance.

www.ronpaul2008.com
This is to Doug and anyone else who thinks Dr. Paul wants to take Granny's Medicare. He does not and you need to watch the video of him being interviewed on the Google Campus. He has no intention of dismantleling all of the social programs. He will privatize beside them, bringing the prices of healthcare down and bring the troops home and apply some of that money to help the veterans and the indigent people who are in need. Please don't talk about Dr. Paul's positions unless you understand them. The Dems are trying to scare the poor people who are on welfare and medicade so that they vote for socialism.
I stand corrected.  It's good that he thinks those who have paid into entitlements are indeed entitled to that money. I do believe Ron Paul is the only conservative running (not neo-conservative).  Hope he gets far.  As a lifelong liberal, I would have a hard time picking Hillary over Ron, I really would.  Don't trust her as far as I could throw her.
From what little I know about Ron Paul, I do know his positions are truly more conservative in the traditional manner than the neo-cons.  He supports smaller govt and no deficits; takes a pretty straight forward stance and seems honest.  A very interesting candidate if the so-called liberal media gives him a chance.  It would be nice to have two good candidates on the pres ballot, for once, so America has a win-win vote, not a loser-bigger loser choice.
Yes, Doug, Ron Paul is the only candidate (Republican or Democrat) who will not raid the Social Security Trust Fund for more government spending.

However, given the unrealistic promises made by Social Security and Medicare (the new prescription drug benefit  by itself will cost $1.2 Trillion over the next 10 years!), the programs will have to be phased out so future generations aren't left with crippling debt and a destroyed currency.
Willis. Hattiesburg, MS (Sent Monday, July 16, 2007 5:34 PM)

Yo - Willis. H'burg is my hometown!

I completely agree re Dr. Paul. If by some miracle he gets the R nomination, he will have my vote in the general election. In fact, I'm thinking of registering as a Republican so that I can vote for him in the primary.
