G2G 2 the deb8

Posted: Monday, July 23, 2007 5:12 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Lauren Appelbaum
At tonight's CNN/YouTube Democratic debate, technology takes the stage front and center, and the Obama campaign is taking advantage of technology to promote his appearance at the debate -- via his text messaging service. We received the following text from the Obama campaign at 3:12 this afternoon:

"Watch Barack debate tonight live on CNN! 7pm EDT. REPLY back with your name and your thoughts during & after the debate. We will post to our blog & discuss."

All the Obama campaign needs now is to ask supporters to send their thoughts via cell phone video, and the campaign could post those on Obama's YouTube page -- keeping pace with the theme of the evening.

Crucial topics such as Global Poverty need to be addressed in the debate tonight. Non-profits like the Borgen Project are working to bring political attention to the issue. In a world where one in five people live on less than a dollar a day poverty is a important issue that needs to be addressed by the Presidential candidates.
Just don't do it while your driving!
I'm voting for Barack Obama, He is a voice of reason, a voice of commonality and sense...He does not speak in cliches and he is an active hands on candidate making sure everyone knows where he stands...I like it because he does not waver and he was against the Iraq War from the beginning.  Not only am i voting for him...I'm am volunteering my summer hours for his campaign to make sure other people get the opportunity to vote for him as well...Barack Obama is a great! reason to vote once again...
Edwards did the same thing, only adding a request for more questions that he will be answering during a live blog at JohnEdwards.com following the debate.
Why do the federal government, and my tax dollars, have to take care of poverty in other nations?  Why can't special interest groups of concerned citizens do this?  I agree that it's sad, but why is it the government's responsibility to take care of this?  Let individuals decide how they should best spend their money
Is anyone else having issues with sound on the live stream from CNN?  The video is fine but there is no audio.  My speakers test just fine on other streaming sites but not on CNN.

Chuck and Mark:  If you get a chance could you let someone from CNN know that the sound on their live stream may be wonky?  Totaly not your job, I realize, but I'd be ever so greatful.
Edwards did the same thing, via SMS and Twitter.  Except Edwards will actually answer these questions, as opposed to just getting SMSes for the sake of feedback.

You know, there are others running besides Clinton and Obama...but I'm sure you know that ;)

We are wasting billions of dollars in Iraq that could be used for a national health care program. What are your ideas and plans in this regard?

We have overwhelming evidence of malfeasance by Cheney and Bush but absolute nothing is being done about it. Why?
