From NBC’s Domenico Montanaro
We told you earlier about some of hirings in the non-campaign campaign of Fred Thompson. Well, per the AP, now he is shaking things up. He named former senator and energy secretary Spencer Abraham and Florida GOP strategist Randy Enright as his campaign managers. They replace acting campaign manager, Tom Collamore, a former vice president of food and tobacco giant Altria. Collamore, who helped organize Thompson’s would-be campaign, will remain as an adviser.

Abraham is another Bush buddy----when ol Spence lost his election to Stabeknow in MI Bush made him head of the energy committee(Cheneys Energy guys). But while he was in MI he did not believe in an energy commissin. These guys never learn---they just go from one pig trough to the next pig trough.Better watch Thompson--just another Bush clone AAAAgh#####**
Any truth to the rumors that Collamore didn't get along with Thompson's trophy wife?
Thompson waited too long; he's already a has-been in a race in which was barely an "is".
Are we ever going to get an official announcement of Thompson's bid for the White House?
(yawn)
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Vote Thompson,

Kill another 3600 Americans.
"Vote Thompson continue killing 3600 Americans"
Better yet vote democrat and continue to kill 1 unborn American Child every 24 seconds and hey while were at it why don't we pass universal healtcare and fund this killing of unborn American Babies by the tax payers... PEACE Begins in the WOMB!!!!!!!
Whether he has declared or not, it is refreshing to hear a candidate talk positive. Relate what they want to accomplish, not another Bush beater. I have yet to hear any real negatives about Fred. Pro-Family, Pro-State rights, Pro-Gun, and most important Pro-American. That's not a Bush clone, it's representing the majority of America.
I hear people decry his lobbying. What expolitico hasn't. If having ties in Washington is evil, how big of devil is Hillery.
Attacks on his wife for being attractive is childish.
I also like the fact that he left politics to deal with real life when he lost his child. Sounds like he's got his priorities straight. Heaven forbid but if Hillery lost Chelsea, I bet she would use it in a most obsecene political way.
America needs a leader who is proud to be American. Not more socialism and anti-American deconstruction.
Krikey!  You all are bored at work like me I see.  Thompson should go ahead and thow his hat in the ring already.  We'll get to see where he stands and it should make it a little more interesting at least.  And it doesn't matter if his non-campaign/campaign guys have ties with Bush or not.  That's what campaign types do.  Election season comes about, they start jockying for a JOB.  GOP or Dems, it doesn't matter.  They all do it.  The question I pose about Thompson is this:  If he retired from the Senate and went home to do some Law and Order because he didn't paticularly care for the rigors of being a Senator and Washington in general, what makes him think he can hadle the rigors of the Presidency, right back there in Washingon?
No surprise.  Thompson has been Jeb's man all along.
Lauria,
Sorry, but you've been brainwashed. Nobody likes abortion. But the Constitution of the United States gives all Americans the Right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Now, how many babies were killed by taxpayer money in Iraq? And what have you done to stop the slaughter of those babies? Or do you only care about unborn American (white) Children?
"Better yet vote democrat and continue to kill 1 unborn American Child every 24 seconds. . ."

According to your assertion, in a typical
work year of 2000 hours, that's 300000 dead
unborn American babies.  How do you account for
this without violating the principles that:

1.  Democrats aren't really Americans.

2.  Republicans don't have abortions.
Dylan, the reading I did indicated he left politics upon the death of his adult child. I have heard the accusation of 'lazyness' but have not heard any real facts to base that upon. Sound more like he had his priorities right. Family first.
American Citzen you are the one who has been brain washed. And don't try your liberal race bating with me I said American.Period. How do you know what color my skin is???? 1 baby every 24 for seconds go ahead look it up if you are brave enough to face the TRUTH. But since you are brain washed probably not.
American Citizen, and I use that term lightly, most of the slaughtered children in Iraq were slaughtered by Saddam, now it's being done mostly by the Jihadist. Of course with another Clinton era of foreign policy that killing will come much closer to home. Maybe right to your doorstep.
Kill a few religious fanatics while you're at it. Along with a few of their embrio people that doctors flush down the toilet by the billions every day. We thought Hitler was bad. Those doctors are the mass murderers. We could have a beautiful nation of ten septillion Americans if those embrios were allowed to grow into full fledged humans. They would have to quadruple stack us, but what the hey.
I guess we won't hear from Lauria, it's hard to support the American taxpayer funded slaughter of babies in Iraq and in the same breath rail against the Right to Choose here. But of course, we're killing Iraqi babies to make them free....but not free enough to make decisions about their own bodies.
republican women just have D and Cs--wink wink
Lauria Bennett O'Fallon MO--your facts are wrong.

Democrats defend all of America, not just Corporate America and the unborn.

What about those of us who are already born?  Huh?
Is Fred still on to enter the race in August? Haven't heard too much on that lately, but these campaign moves seem to indicate an imminent anouncement. Fred's unstoppable...

Lauria,
OMG,, here we go again.  If the Right need to distract from the actual debate they throw in Abortion.  Are you Lauria, personally going to feed, cloth, provide medical care, and an education to the babies born when you nut bags get rove-v-wade overturned????  Oh wait, your against hand outs and welfare too,,, mmm can't have it both ways!!!
>>>(yawn)
>>>zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Overdose.

You just knew it was bound to happen.
OK Lauria,
Where do I look it up?

And I notice you did not address how your taxpayer dollars are spent in Iraq, torture, dead babies etc.
RH,

I agree, Saddam was an evil little coward because he tortured and slaughtered innocent human beings. Now your tax dollars are used to torture and slaughter, but that's different.....right? Cuz them islamo-fascists are cumin up the drive.
How the hell can you have a shakeup in a campaign that isn't yet in existence?!?  Unless Fred plans to declare the Jebster as Veep, he'll never get anywhere anyway.  With Jebster as VP, though, he'd have lots of Bush bux behind him, and probably win even if he declares he's running months from now. And then they could steal it all in Florida (and Texas) again.
RD,

I know that you're frightened, but buck up and be a man.
If we abandon freedom and justice, the bad guys win. Your'e being played by deferrment dick and the Halliburton crowd.
This is my first comment on First Read. I am sick and tired of Senator Thompson's indecision to run. "To run or not to run that is the question" Just make up your mind already and get it over with once and for all! Please!
Lauria,
I too am a republican and have voted with the party for many years.  I supported the Iraq war and I still believe that we can deliver freedom that the Iraqis deserve.  I voted for Bush in both elections.  But as I look at the Republican Party, my party, that I have faithfully supported for over 40 years, I find it looking backward instead of forward.  Today, nearly two thirds of all Americans support abortion rights, and that number is steadily rising.  60% support stem cell research.  Limiting funding for stem cell research hasn’t made the research go away.  It has only moved it to another country so the technology pioneered by Americans will be developed and perfected by foreigners.  The industry that comes out of stem cell research will be bigger than information technology.
There is still so much work that our party needs to do: Lowering corporate taxes (Europe is ahead of us on this issue making their corporations more competitive with lower taxes), Making American businesses more competitive, preserving and building our technological advantage over the rest of the world.  I admit that the abortion issue, which you so passionately believe in, has never been a hot button issue for me.  I could tolerate the party’s position on abortion when it didn’t put our industry at risk.  Now that we are abdicating our leadership in one of the most promising technologies ever to be developed because of a religious belief, I cannot continue to give my support to republican candidates.  Face it, you lost the abortion debate.  Don’t bring the party and our biotech industry down with you.
Nobody knows where Fred Thompson stands, but we sure as heck know where he stood.  He's been a lobbyist for 20 years, in support of Haiti's President Aristide, pro-abortion groups, and the savings and loans.  There's also something about his influence peddling in the Watergate scandal.  Just what we need--a lawyer/lobbyist to guide this sinking country. NOT.
AC:I'd rather have Dick Cheney & Halliburton than Slick Willy & Enron. But they are not running in '08, so get over it. I'm betting your Volvo still has a John/John stick on it, right next to the pretty rainbow one.
I don't agree with all that has happened with Iraq. Number 1, we should have leveled the Afghanistan hills to get Osama first. But we are in Iraq, and yes we will leave. The American people have spoken loud & clear on that. To classify what our military & civilian people are doing in Iraq as slaughter just shows ignorance. And for the democrats to harp on that single subject shows how shallow their platform is. But enough of the thoughtful debate, you should go answer the doorbell, it might be your welfare check.
Personally, I'm Pro Death.  It's all good to me; abortion, execution, war, euthanasia, gun Jim, starving poor kids, all the perks of life in what King George likes to call the Culture of Life.  Bring it on, W!
Lisa writes: "This is my first comment on First Read. I am sick and tired of Senator Thompson's indecision to run. "

Yeah, whats wrong with him!!  Only 15 months to go, and he's still on the fence.  He should have been campaigning a year ago.
How many people want to bet Ms O'Fallon had an abortion herself? Betcha she has. Her kind always have one of those awesome epiphanys AFTER they have an abortion and then demand that others shouldn't. Either that or shes one of those evangelical christians who get dressed in the closet so their husbands don't see them naked...while their husbands are cheating on them with a male or female from an escourt service.
Family values does not mean the number of families (wives) you accumulate.  It means sticking with your original spouse til death do you part - my vows did not say til divorce do yo part.  Sorry Fred, you are just Like Rudy & Johnny Mc and most of the other first tier repugnants - you got one too many families for me.  There is nothing Christian or conservative in having more than one living spouse.
By the way - most of the people I know who have had abortions (and I have never had one my self - 2 healthy pregnancy's, two healthy children for which I am thankful) are staunch repugnants.  So what gives with that - the old "it is ok for me to do this, but not for you"?  Not right, not fair.  I truely wish there would never be the need or want for another abortion ever, but that is just not going to happen until more people are educated about birth control (male and female alike).
Democrats like to paint with an awfully broad brush and use such silly words like repugnants. How cute. I love the fact that Democrats continue to use their rallying cries like "Halliburton" and "Bush Lied" and "King George". The strategy of saying something over and over – regardless of it being factual or not – to brainwash the masses does work. Seriously though, why is it that people speak with such hate towards any other political party other than their own? We are merely talking about a disagreement in philosophy or ideology. It's not like anyone shaved your eyebrows when you fell asleep at a slumber party. Generally speaking, the left is much harsher than the right with their choice of words. I don't mean critical, but foul. I have found that people tend to get ugly in conversations when they have nothing of substance to say. Could that be what is going on?
Since we're sharing, I don't know anyone that has admitted to having an abortion. (Is it possible that people don't admit to it because they are ashamed? Why be ashamed if there is nothing wrong with it, right?) People seem plenty educated about birth control. Get pregnant - have abortion.
Also, I'm still married to my first wife, since that seems to matter.
