The Bush White House

Legacy watch: "The latest Washington Post-ABC News survey shows that 65 percent of Americans disapprove of Bush's job performance, matching his all-time low. In polls conducted by The Post or Gallup going back to 1938, only once has a president exceeded that level of public animosity -- and that was Richard M. Nixon, who hit 66 percent four days before he resigned."

With Bush's unpopularity hitting record highs (or is it lows?), one wonders why the GOP candidates are taking so long to create distance between themselves and the president.

How low can he go? How about as low as the repuks in Congress as they kiss his A$$!
I lived through the Nixon mess, and I always wondered who in the hell were these 34% that still approved of Nixon, now I know, they were the traitorous republicans who are still alive today and are supporting the shrub. It never ceases to amaze me that there were actually people that supported the biggest crook in history in the white house, and now the shrub. Need I say more about the republicans. Excuse me, I have to go find my barf bag.
Much like John Macain they are going off the cliff like lemmings good riddence, all that lock step boot lickin has done nothing for the good of this country. He has divided america at a time we should have aleader doing everything possible to unite how do you fight while stnding on one leg punching the other .The battle dear george has created is not with the stars but with ourselves for you who dont understand I believe the quote is the "fault dear brutus lies not in the stars but in ourselves"
only those who can be fooled all of the time are sticking with bush exceot of course for the diehard true beleivers just like hitler and his henchmen, just watch any documenterys of hitlers last days and the resemblence to bush is uncannily similar, blame everyone else for what is wrong and keep driving his country into the ground.
Only the rebubs that have something nasty hidden in their closets are the ones still supporting Bush. After all, they'll need him to commute or pardon them when whatever it is they've done is discovered.
I have earned political capital & i intend to use it all the way to "The worst President in American History". It amazes me that someone ( anyone)is'nt doing something to putta stop to this madness. Repubican's can't put the kool-aid away to see thru the fog, Democrat's are scared the American electorate will see them in a negative way if they were to somehow figure out how to stop this Madman from further destroying what he has'nt destroyed all ready. Our country yearn's for Leadership, "Where is it in our time of need".He ran everything he ever hadda hand in into the ground & the American Terrorist ( Religous Right)somehow convinced enough other followers, that he could run the most powerful Country in the World any better. SAD!!!!!!!!!!
One thing that gets under my skin lately is the tone  the MSM takes in discussing Bush's high disapproval ratings. Like, gee whiz, why isn't a President still popular who used his capital to manipulate us into an ill-conceived, ill-managed war, who presided over the destruction of the 34th largest American city, instead of showing leadership as one of the poorest states in the union was overwhelmed, whose administration lost billions of dollars to fraud, weakening our military, who engineered the transfer of wealth to the top 1%, who turned the Justice Department into an instrument to enforce loyalty to the Republican party, rather than upholding the law, who installed Supreme Court Justices who hypocritically "legislate from the bench" when it serves their personal beliefs, but who are "originalists" who decline to protect the rights of women, prisoners of war, lawmakers trying to protect the environment, etc. Gee, Mr. Media Pundits, why do you think America doesn't approve of the Bush Administration. Oh, they must be "war weary." No, I'm not "war weary." I'm weary of being lied to, my tax dollars squandered, the lives of our firefighters, emergency workers and military service people treated as expendable. THAT'S why I "disapprove" of this administration.
"It is to be regretted that the rich and powerful too often bend the acts of the government to their own selfish purposes"-Andrew Jackson
Yawn, the polls were all for John Kerry in 2004.  Wonder what happened?  That is something you libs will never be able to live down.  Remember all the young people that were signed up to vote President Bush out and they decided to go party instead of vote?
Any presidential hopefull who supports Bush is dangerous in my mind. There is absolutely no reason to do so, even if they are trying to appeal to a political base. If you want to lead, be prepared to represent the nation, not a party. Political bases can often be out of touch. Unfortunately that applies to just about all the GOP candidates.
There is no difference between the GOP candidates who want Pres. Bush's job, and Pres. Bush.  Therefore, there is in fact no way to distance oneself from the President whose policies you support 100%.  To even remotely consider electing a member of the Republican party in Nov. 2008, would absolutely ensure a quasi 3rd term for George W. Bush.  There is no way these men can distance themselves from him, as they are carbon copies of him, and it should be emphasized again and again, to elect any one of them (save Ron Paul) would absolutely guarantee a stay the course with Pres. Bush form of government.  Most of us, thankfully, will fully reject that in the next Presidential election.  The elections of Nov. 2006 made that perfectly clear.
Its time for Bush to wake up and resign
All you liberals need to quit your griping and shut up.It's laughable to blame Bush for Katrina, even though he warned state and local officials of the impending storm...guess what?? Democrats didn't do anything about it!! But let's blame Bush. And let's Blame Bush for 9/11 too,and how about the broken sewer line in NYC last week...I'm sure he did that to kill some of the people that don't agree with him. And let's blame him for healthcare, even though America has better healthcare than almost everywhere else! Bush is just your scapegoat, and let's face the reason why...you're sore losers. You hate that you lost in 2000 and 2004,and now that you finally won in 2006,your precious liberals in Congress haven't done squat and have a lower approval rating of Pres Bush. That's what I find laughable. And it's hilarious that the people that preach global warming are the people that don't follow their own rules. Case in point, almost all of the libs flew to SC in private jets. How's that for caring about the earth? This debate is so interesting because liberals are so hypocritical...any of the Republican candidates would be better for our country and the world. President Hilary Clinton..yeah right!
jerri you gossip so good come and have cool-aid with the rest of the repub. wives.
There's a lot of things about me that you don't know anything about. Things you wouldn't understand. Things you couldn't understand. Things you shouldn't understand. You don't want to get mixed up with a guy like me. I'm a loner. A rebel. - Barack Obama
Jerry/corpus christi, you need to take your meds or check into a mental facility, you are so out there.
Presidents: Cheney & Bush VP: John McCain are finally so over,no one is listening to anything they have to say. What else can they say or do to this country? Please God not the nuclear bomb!!! I don't know what to say anymore about this administration, or the lack of any real leadership from Congress. Just make it all go away it's like the worst horror movie you've have ever seen. It just keeps getting more horrible the longer it plays. No legacy for you fade to black.
Hey, Laura, do you have a sister in Corpus Christi named Jerry?
Jamie Farr, Jerry is only speaking the truth. Truth is what liberals hate to hear.
Truth is what liberals hate to hear. <<---

Its like a crucifix to a vampire for them.
And reality is what Republicans hate to face.  I mean, as long as we are being horrendously stereotypical and insulting...
Yeah,I'm gonna have to agree with Laura and Jerry on this one. Even if you don't agree with Bush's tactics, you have to admit that we havent had a terrorist attack since 9/11,so we are obviously doing something right! I hate politics, because all that happens is people get mad and nothing gets solved. I just want a candidate who will keep us safe, and I'm scared that the Democrats cant do that.
What happened to the end of President Bush in 2004?  ALl the polls were pointed in the direction.  Kind of hard to figure out why the kids went to drink instead of voting, but hey, it's their life.
Re Laura, "laughable to blame Bush for Katrina, even though he warned state and local officials of the impending storm..." The magnitude of the disaster was such that New Orleans and Louisiana officials found themselves overwhelmed. In a situation such as that, the Bush Administration should have taken full responsibility, and given them all the help they needed, as the leader of the world's only superpower should have, but guess what?

Bush, who'd been on vacation at his Crawford ranch, only a short hop from New Orleans, instead flew west--first to celebrate McCain's 100th birthday in Arizona, then to California to strum some show-biz buddy's guitar. It was several days before the idiot even found the time to flyover and look down on devastated New Orleans and the rest of the storm zone. Remember that picture showing how clueless he looked? At the same time, Cheney was vacationing in Wyoming, and Condi, who could have been arranging for other countries to help with rescues and send other help, was in New York buying shoes and seeing a Broadway play. Remember the stories of about 2-3 months ago about how aid to New Orleans and the rest of the storm zone was either rejected or squandered? What an amazing abdication of responsibility on the part of our so-called "leaders" who should have been on top of the situation.

Then the Bushies set the blame game in motion--blaming Louisiana for all that went wrong during Katrina--so your implication that her Democratic officials didn't do anything is exactly what the Bush Administration would want you to believe and to say. Actually, Louisiana officials did the best they could in the face of an overwhelming disaster. But the Bushies instead, because having to take the blame for their own evasion of accountability regarding Katrina, decided to treat Louisiana not like a valuable American state who needed and deserved the help that would make her whole, but a foreign adversary along the lines of Iran.

And here's some of the truth conservative Bush lovers hate to hear: the Bush Administration needs to be blamed for cultural and other genocide in Louisiana. First of all, per a New York Times article this morning, New Orleans' post-Katrina health care system is in terrible shape. According to Harry Shearer, a blogger on the Huffington Post, this is due to an ideological struggle between the Bushies and Louisiana. The Bushies are trying to force Louisiana to eliminate her current charity hospital system and replace it with private insurance the poor have to buy. So they won't give poor Louisiana the help she needs to bring New Orleans' health care system back--thus furthering the suffering of and perhaps hastening the otherwise preventable deaths of her sick people who find it hard to access medical care--and committing genocide.

Also, by not lifting a finger to help evacuees stranded in Houston and other cities, unable to return to the Louisiana they're homesick for. These evacuees are poor people, mostly people of color--people who'd given pre-Katrina New Orleans her distinctive cultural character. The lack of affordable housing and dependable infrastructure are main factors keeping them from returning. They have a right to return--and the Bush Administration's denying Louisiana the help she needs replenishing New Orleans' affordable housing is keeping them from doing so. Another thing keeping exiled New Orleanians from wanting to return is the levees--which need to be upgraded to Category 5. The Bush Administration refuses to spend the money to do this or rebuild New Orleans' affordable housing or repair her damaged infrastructure--and by keeping New Orleanians from wanting to return, it is committing cultural genocide.
How about this theory?  They support Bush because they assume they'll have 35% support wrapped up, and they think they'll only need to convince another 16% more to win the election. Regarding Jenn saying we have not been attacked since 911: every day Americans get attacked and killed in Iarq because of Bush's response to 911, and you are scared that a Democrat won't keep you safe. That sums it up quite succinctly on how the 35% thinks.
Jerry, you are an absolute moron.  The polls in 04 had W with a slight lead going into the elction.  Typical wing-nut revisionist blabbering.  You cannot defend anything.  Besides, what does it matter what Clinton did, or Gore in 2000, or Kerry in 04.  It is idiots like you who comprise the small monority that cannot stop drinking the Rush/Rove/Hannity/Coulter/O'Reilly/Fox Noise/Hannity kool-aid that has caused more harm to this country than you can possibly imagine.
Laura, you're an idiot...along with the rest of the 28%.  First of all, Bush's reaction to Katrina was pathetic...to put it nicely.  America only has better healthcare for the wealthy...Canada has better healthcare for EVERYONE.  And Bush did lose the vote in 2004, he was appointed, not elected.  Congress...my disapproval comes from the fact they have not yet been hard enough on the criminal in the Oval Office.  Further, anyone who thinks global warming does not exist is just a moron...hopefully you'll die off before you can do irreversable damage to our planet.
Jerry--more young people voted in 2004 (and a majority for John Kerry) than ever before.  They were just counter-balanced by a large showing of Southern voters for Bush.

Here: http://72.14.253.104/search?q=cache:pqvygxpcshcJ:www.youngvoterstrategies.org/index.php%3Ftg%3Dfileman%26idx%3Dget%26id%3D1%26gr%3DY%26path%3DFactsheets%26file%3D2004%2BYouth%2BVoter%2BResults%2B2006.doc+youth+vote+president+2004&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=10&gl=us

It is a great thing when more young people vote, seeing how they foot the bill and fight the wars.

If you're gonna fight with the adults, sweet little Jerry, you might want to use some grown-up facts instead of little girl insults.
Yeah, Liberals hate hearing the truth.  We do hate hearing it when it means more dead in Iraq, more laws being broken by this administration, more stonewalling by the AG, more tax breaks to the rich and corporations, more vetos of programs that the Majority of Americans want, and especially more propoganda by the chimp.
Laura Akron, Bush is not a scapegoat..he is just incompetent period. Attacking the messenger isn't going make anything better or convince anything.
Someone mention 9/11? Our President has yet to find the bin Laden al Zwahiri and Mullah Omar. And ,oh yes, in October of 2001 we had all that anthrax sent throught the mail. Closed down Congressional ofices, post offices and led to at least three deaths. Has the Bush  administration found that enemy within?
I notice Mr Jerry is using several fake names in which he makes the same inane right wing arguments. They occur usually right before or right after his own statements. You need an increase in your psych meds Jerry.
Laura,
the truth, eh?
Before bush:  budget suprlus; with bush, largest deficts in US history.
9-11: Worldwide sympathy & support; NOW: worst standing in the world since Vietnam
Iraq: we will be greeted as liberators & last throes; 4 years later, still bogged down in the middle of sectarian violence.
Before bush: Constitution safe; NOW, no habaeus corpus, bush states Congress has no oversight on him.
Truth? 65% disapporval...can YOU stand the truth?
so, jerry, what made you pick a name like laura and Akron, OH to post under?
Laura/Akron-KEEP DRINKING THE KOOLAID!Two days prior to Katrina he was filmed seating at a table being told that that this was going to be a potentially deadly and devastating storm.....he said not one word. NEWS FLASH!His legacy concurred by 65% is running for most unpopular president in the history of modern polling going back to 1938. What makes liberals hypocrites? Repugnants protecting pedophile Foley...you mean that type of hypocracy. You been watching way too much Fox news, druggy Limbaugh and sexual defiant O'Reilly. You need to come down to earth....acting like a pavlovian dog everytime someone;god forbid; critizes the monumental damage the shrub has done. You instantly react like Jerry and blast away at Pelosi or Hillery.
Impeach-you are a typical liberal who just likes to resort to name-calling and insults. Just because you don't agree with war does not mean that Bush is a criminal. It just means that you would rather have had Saddam attack us, then us go in to prevent us getting attacked. Global warming is a joke; it's a political tool invented by Al Gore to get attention and to give the democrats a stance on something. There are just as many scientists that say global warming does not exist than scientists that say it does. Who's to say that what the temperature of the earth is now is not right where it's supposed to be? Of course there's always change over time, what is crazy is how people like you think we can't drive SUV's,can't leave the water running while we shave(Cameron Diaz), and can't buy tangerines because they're not native to your home state(Elizabeth Edwards.) Look,it's one thing to say you dont agree with wasting energy, but when it comes to people getting so mad that they can't even drive a Hummer for fear of it getting the windows shattered and spray-painted(like what happened in the Northeast 2 weeks ago). But thats ok,Impeach...wishing death on the Republicans is so typical. You can't stand anyone believing things differently than you do.
Laura IS jerry. Maybe THATS whats wrong with jerry. A verrrryy confused boy.
Juan-You are listening to too much Air America and Bill Maher...wait,is Air America still on the air? Because hardly anyone was listening to them...you must be the only one!
It's interesting to here the anger that comes from the right wing poster's here. Not so long ago I remember talk radio going on and on about how angry and irrational the "looney left" is. Now it seems to have completely reversed. The ONLY think I here from Bush supporters on this blog is name calling and labeling people idiots and haters. I thought it was just a few, but I hear it repeated in conservative media too. Nothing but opposition to Democratic policy with no rationale behind it. If that is all the GOP has, then they will continue to loose support. It's the arrogance(encouraged by talk radio) of having a GOP majority for the past several years. Liberals are wrong/evil..they are unelectable, they can't win in the marketplace of ideas, socialists...rant..rant..rant. How quickly they forget that we are all Americans and we prosper and suffer together. Now that Bush has awoken the American public from continually electing reprentatives who consider themselves unaccountable....the only thing that will help the GOP is a dose of humility. Liberals don't have to do anything, Bush and his incompetence is the 'political gift' that keeps on giving. It was there during Iraq, Katrina(you did a good job Brownie), immigration, Harriet Miers, Terry Shiavo, Valerie Plame, Abu Ghraib, Porter Goss, entitlement/government expansion, Social Security.....all self inflicted wounds. And that is not even counting the GOP scandals too numerous to list and still occuring as we type. Unfortunately, it has harmed this country in the process. I'm ashamed to even think I almost voted for the man in 2004. Scream about the left all you want it's not convincing anybody.
Jerry - "The truth, YOU can't handle the truth" Jack Nickelson. All you do is run down liberals man, can't you at least make an attempt at defending Gonzo gate and the shrub. You sound more like the shrub every day saying that they hate us for our freedoms, only you seem to hate liberals because we are right and you are wrong. When the numbers are 65% negative against your hero, there just has to be something wrong with your logic. I think someone should stick a fork in you man, your are overdone and don't even know it. Peace bro.
Impeach: That is the stupidest argument  have ever heard. You sound like Juan.
And Susan is Paul Miller.  Or a PM worshipper.
Laura, AKRON, slow down, or your head will explode.

Bottom line, as with the repuck machine, you are cherry picking to try to make a point. The problems are much more complex then your puney argument. Your head has been filled with half truths and half BS by the Incompetent-In-Chief and his three ring circus.

One day you should open your eyes and see what reality is.
Impeach---obviously you are a moron and it shows with your entry about canadian health care.  If health care is so hot up there, why are they coming here?  If Cuban health care is so hot down there, why did they have to bring in a doctor from Spain to save Juan's favorite president, his Uncle Fidel?  If socialized medicine is what you desire, there is always England.  Take a pillow seat with you, might be a long wait.  With Elizabeth Edwards telling people not to eat healthy (tangerines), one has to wonder if she wasnts everybody to get cancer like she has?
<<liberals resorting to name calling and insults>>                                                                                                 Laura/Akron-Come on Jerry tell us you in drag now like Gigolo Rudy!
Jerry- you are truly an ethnocentric moron...look it up.........my favorite presidents in the past..let me see...Clinton, both Roosevelts,Kennedy and Fidel is a meglomaniac dictator...umm like THE SHRUB your favorite president.
[[With Bush's unpopularity hitting record highs (or is it lows?), one wonders why the GOP candidates are taking so long to create distance between themselves and the president.]]

Because every last one of them, with the exception of Ron Paul, intends to continue Bush's war-mongering. They don't care whether their policies make the terrorism problem worse as long as they can pound their chests and show how macho they are by sending other people to die in their disastrous wars.
Why, indeed, are so many repubs in Congress following a clear loser, both now and in the history books.  My theory: they know he'll be taking over as Dick-tator For Life in '08, so they don't want to tick him off.  That could be dangerous soon...
Hell, Jerri and Laura ain't drinkin the koolaid, they're snorting it without the water
Juan, get your head out of the sand! I think the Florida sun has bleached your brain. I am not Jerry.
Can't we all just get along???
