Per NBC’s Jim Miklaszewski, US military officials say that Army lawyers are reviewing the recommendations for disciplinary action against nine Army officers -- including retired Lt. General Phillip Kensinger -- for their role in withholding the truth about the death of former Army Ranger Pat Tillman. In Kensinger's case it may require that he be recalled to active duty to face a possible reduction in rank and reduction in retirement benefits.

The officials say the recommendations call for non-judicial punishment against the four generals and five other officers -- such as letters of reprimand, which would essentially end their military careers. There are NO recommendations for criminal action. The officials stress that no final decision has been made in Kensinger's case, which is expected to be announced sometime next week.

The New York Times front-pages the anti-Iraq war movies that Hollywood will be releasing soon. In the past, Hollywood usually gave the veteran more breathing space. William Wyler’s ‘Best Years of Our Lives,’ about the travails of those returning from World War II, was released more than a year after the war’s end. Similarly Hal Ashby’s ‘Coming Home’ and Oliver Stone’s ‘Born on the Fourth of July,’ both stories of Vietnam veterans, came well after the fall of Saigon.”

What the hell is Kensinger doing retired anyway?  We have men and women getting ready for their 3rd, 4th, and even 5th deployment for G-D'S sake......The very least he could do is man the hell up and face the music.
Good morning, Chuck and Mark!  You do a great job keeping  this form going, but lately some posters have slipped under your guard.  These posters do nothing but attack other posters and provide nothing to the topic at hand. I thought the idea was to provide a forum to express thoughts without vicious attacks on others for no other reason than to be nasty.  Lately, it's been nothing but a war zone in here.  I realize censorship is a very fine line, but can you do something?  Otherwise this site will be no better than the other blog sites I've seen where all people do is snipe at each other.  Thank you!
On topic -- I'm glad to see the U.S.Army addressing the issue on Pat Tillman's death.  All the Tillman family want is the truth of how he died.  That is all any family would want.  I know I would want to know how my husband died.  A coverup only brings more pain, not closure.  Desmond -- I believe you were interested in this issue?
Eileen -- thanks for the note. We try our best to keep the forums as clean as possible. But we'll definitely keep our eye out for personal attacks and other inappropriate posts. We appreciate the feedback.
Mark Murray -- Thank you very much! Have a great day!
The Tillman fiasco had to be top down. The goverment needed a hero and got caught trying to invent one. Now they need a scape goat. Scold the commanders and put then out to pasture. Pay them their pensions and no one gets hurt.
The officers should all be reduced in rank with pay and retirement forfeitures to send a mesage that conduct unbecomming an officer and lying are unnacceptable.
MARK,
See you in church, maybe Sunday school? We must learn to play nice with the the other kids. No adult forum!

It is off to Jesus Camp, the kids there get to scream and cry and hold little dead fetuses. Death to the non believers, walking the streets to accost people for Jesus.  Yup sounds like a real good summer vacation.
No adults around smart enough to snipe at there, just good old Jesus camp.
Hey this is a tough choice. First Read or ???

Seriously the adults on this forum are good at drawing lines and keeping the roar down.  Some others need to cut the violence and talk of assassination out of these posts, only thing I see as grossly inappropiate.
The Tillman tragedy  will be buried and erased. This admin will never admit a mistake or a coverup.  Bush will never say he knew, he condoned, he approved.
Eileen, thanks for speaking your mind to what has been going on lately on this site.  I too much prefer First Read over some of the other blogs that I try to read, but dislike the war zone atmosphere of late, as you so appropriately referred to it.  I miss some of the old regulars (like Ryan in Michigan and Darren Pope to name a couple).  Didn't always agree with what they posted, but it wasn't name calling or vicious attacks on other posters.  Thank you for putting into words what a few other posters have been feeling.
Come on people now
Smile on your brother
everybody get it together
come and love one another right now...

yeah right.
You know all this "can't we all get along" type of crap started with Howard Dean in 2004.  He gave the loony left the power to get back into the game.  Being from Vermont(nuff said), he brings this angry and at the same time, laid back attitude of let's help the poor and steal from the rich blah blah blah to the table.  Now we have today.  I noticed a bunch of women dressed up in Pink sitting in the Alberto Gonzales, you never saw this before 2004.  Now you have people with some of the strangest, weirdest ideas ever heard or seen on this planet getting support from the media on issues.  The problem is, the wilder and weirder you loony leftists get, the less and less support you get from common sense Americans.  As Neal Boortz said "the more you get into a debate about George Bush and the more you bring up the "N" word (Nazi), you have lost the debate.  Any normal American knows what the loony left is all about.  I've seen some of the braver loony left (Sunsara Thomas, Randi Rhodes, etc) go on O'Reily and Hannitty and Combs and just make utter fools of themselves.  This will be the downfall of the loony left.  They don't want Hillary for president because of her vote on the war in Iraq, but they will have to accept her if they want ANY voice in the future.  Everybody talks about me and my wild stories (which I get from that loony left Google and several other loony left liberal websites) and all i get is stuff that Eileen is talking about. SO that just ramps it up for me.  I can debate or I can be worse then Hillary when it comes to a dialogue.  Actually this is very entertaining and compared to the other blogs, I think this is the number one place (considering it is about 95% liberal).
Here we go again. WHAAA WHAA WHAA. Adults crying for attention and running to tell the teacher. This was a spot on Pat Tillman NOT "Billy hurt my feelings on the playground"
H P Boston -- about your 10:49 am post, just what are you talking about?  I am talking about First Read as an adult forum. Sure, we all disagree with each other and we certainly let each other know about it. Especially to Jerry/CC, Dave,TN and IntheMiddle.  But we discuss it even when calling each other names!  I'm talking about posters who zip in here out of nowhere, call people names and then zip out with nothing to contribute other than name calling. A Jesus camp this sure ain't. So what was your point? Do you prefer personal attacks or discussing topics like an adult? Your choice.
Chuck & Todd,
Eileen's point is very well taken with jerry's post...totally off subject and deriding an opposing point of view.
It is a tragedy that the Tillman family has to learn how their loved one died...twice.  Not knowing the truth, and then having it come out in the press.  I recall his father doubting the official report at one time before the friendly fire stories arose.  It will be interesting if the non-disclosure was military or political.  I hope the Tillman family will soon get to let Pat rest in peace.
EILEEN..I was TALKING TO THE INTERLOPERS..THEY CAN GO TO JESUS CAMP! Sounds like that is where they came from.  Sorry, I did not at all point my post at you.  I guess I picked up on your thread with out clarity.
PEACE,and you are one of the oh so welcomed people here.
If anybody is interested, Army Secretary Peter Geren is recommending demotion for Lt.Gen. Kensinger. Other recommendations are being considered for the other officers involved.
Off topic -- well some folks certainly got defensive! And I didn't even name specific people! I just spoke in generalities. So get a grip. It's your choice to keep this a blog site that people can go to express their thoughts or you can turn into a mudslinging fest.
Taylor, PHX -- your complaint was this was supposed to be about Pat Tillman, and I did discuss the topic briefly to open it to others, so talk about it.
Eileen, I'm here. And yes, I was very interested in Army Ranger Pat Tillman's story.I can't imagine the amy coming to someone's house and lying about how their son died. It was his family that did not believe the Army's story. I fail to see why the President is using executive privelege here. For me personally, it puts my trust level of this administration at nil.
HP, I know what your talking about, and I agree with you.AND- I think It's Jerry who has a tendency to bring the worst out in everyone.
The Tillman family had the courage and resolve to speak out.  They did not accept the view that soldiers die doing what they love to do and therefore their families should shut up.  I hope cover-ups such as this one are an aberration.
Well if Neil Boortz said it then it MUST be true.  After all he's not on radio to make money, why he's just providing a public service.
I know you guys on the LEFT is not complaining about name-calling. You guys sit in here and disrespect the POTUS and anyone who supports him constantly. I have seen things written about the POTUS that would constitute grounds for the Secret Service to investigate. As long as you guys continue to disrespect the highest office in our land, people are going to go right back at you. No one in here holds no more moral ground than anyonoe else in the country. I'm going to say my piece to you Eileen and anyone else. No one in here snoars in my face at night so I definately will continue.
"And I didn't even name specific people." I guess Jerry/CC...Dave... Inthemiddle and Taylor aren't real people to you are they Eileen? You want censorship when it's tailor fit to you and not the rest of us who have just as much right to voice an opinion. What do you do when there is no moderator? Don't take it so personal when your opinion is not valued. You don't want mudslinging yet you keep going off topic to do it. I am new to this forum and from what I have read just today, it's the same people who can't move forward.
"If Tyranny and Opression come to this land, it would be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy"-James Madison
I'm not going to go crying to mommy.  I can take it just as much as I can give it.  Face it Libs, you guys are just so anti-military, anti-business, anti-religion, anti-life, it makes me wonder what you people really want.  All you libs want to impeach President Bush.  Why?  Because I think it is revenge for Bill Clinton.  I read all this stuff about the reasons and I have to laugh at quite a few.  In person, when I hear people in Starbucks about Bush should be impeached, I ask why?  They just turn beet red and start sputtering about Iraq.  I tell them; well Hillary voted for it, do you think she should resign for the Senate?  That really gets them worked up and soon the four letter words start. I leave, glowing in my victory.  If you think you can beat me, fine, bring it on.  But all your theories about Iraq and the AG problems and all that, you bring nothing but theory.  That is why your nominee will be beaten in 2008.  The American people will really look at what the loony left is all about and they will say "not on my watch".
IDIOTS that is what people who hold the flat earth theorys to thier hearts .I will give no quarter and no quarter is expected if the discourse gets rough then i will respond if not i perfer facts over sarcasm but i will lay it on if the right(wrong )thinkers who want this country to go back to pre revolutionary war days where I answer to a king I say what John Hancock said "Give me liberty or death "But mark I dont think that jerry supporting assasination is something you want on this blog .His theory seems to be give them death so I can be free ,i doubt you print this because alot of my witter remarks always get censored I dont mind I just call them as i see them.By the way I like the jerries they keep my arguments on thier toes.
Hey marc are you jerry, cause how do those comments t get through but the response to him dosent,The pat tillman story another red herring ,Bush administration coverup
Deaths from friendly fire continue to plague the Military. First reports had Pat Tillman dying at the hands of the enemy. Later was it admitted that he died in a friendly fire incident. Reports now suggest that there may be
