Congressional Democrats subpoenaed White House senior adviser Karl Rove, and Judiciary Committee Chairman Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) charged that “political considerations factored into the unprecedented firing of at least nine United States Attorneys last year," the AP reports.

“E-mails released by the Justice Department show [Attorney General Alberto] Gonzales’ aides conferred with Rove” on the firing of the prosecutors, the AP reports.

NBC’s Kelly O’Donnell reports, while not specifically addressing the possibility of Leahy issuing a subpoena for Rove, a senior WH official responded with another hit on congress:

"This is becoming an out of control Congress--calling for special prosecutors, launching investigations, issuing subpoenas and generally just settling scores--all while appropriations bills go unpassed and FISA modernization, energy and other important issues go unaddressed. It's unfortunate and embarrassing that this Congress continues to neglect the issues important to Americans, and Americans are taking note."

This administration is just too much. They're BUSTED!! They'd like us to think that getting to the truth of the matter is irrelevant because there are bills that need to be passed, like Congress doesn't have their priorities straight. Congress is right on the dime. While my own ancestors were kidnapped and brought here against their will, the people on the mayflower came to America to escape a totalitarian government. Here we are in 2007 with a political party acting as if they are the great court of England with Bush as their king. The peuwbbs want to act like their ish don't stink, but as far as I'm concerned, the smell of rot and stink has been in the American air ever since Bush took over the presidency. ONLY GOD IS INFALLIBLE!! NOT the president, NOT albie gonzo, and certainly NOT penis cheney. When their time of reckoning comes, they'll be roasting like swine in the flames along with the likes of Richard Nixon.

Well, to those who feel Congress is on a "witch hunt", all I have to say is this... let justice prevail. Without justice, our form of government is completely without merit. The US Constitution without justice being served is only useful as a memo pad. I hope that so much comes up in the investigations underway that all involved turn in their resignations, including Bush and Cheney. They are the worst lot we've ever had in the White House. They all deserve to face justice in a court of law... let them resign only to face indictments.

Of course, Bush will pardon Rove, Gonzo and even Cheney. That's Justice - Bush Style.

Thomas Jefferson made the statement "The devil himself could run this country and do no harm", referring to the checks and balances in the U.S. Constitution. I believe he was wrong. Should Congress succeed in convicting any of the Bush adminstration members of any crime, Mr. Bush can simply pardon them. He has managed to block all investigations, including refusing to testify in the 9/11 attacks while under oath. This is a man who ignores and violates the U.S. Constitution, and from what I can see, can very easily get away with it. Let me use an example. Had Congress impeached Richard Nixon, his successor, Gerald Ford, could simply have pardoned him of those charges. If Bush were impeached, Cheney could simply pardon him, unless he too, were impeached. The Constitution needs to be amended so that the President can not use his pardon rights to pardon any member of his administration or any Presidential predecessor, and Executive Privilege must be modified so that it can not prevent criminals from being prosecuted or to block investigations into possible crimes within a Presidential Administration. Without these amendments, a president who is so disposed, could simply ignore the Constitution and run the nation any way he saw fit. I believe that as excellent a document as our Constitution is, our well-meaning founders simply never expected a President to be as flagrantly corrupt as this one.

What about all the special investigations, special prosecutors etc., that were used to villify the Clinton's during their White House years? Democrats and many others felt that was a big to do over very little. They are two lawyers as well as excellent politicians, wouldn't that be important to consider in spending millions of dollars which did very little except keeping busy defending! Clinton's marital porblems were theirs, and should not have been used to include the whole country. Now is payback, the old what goes around comes around is real. Let's credit the people that are really working to correct this mess we are in and give a little help....My vote is for Joe Biden for all the obvious reasons plus in addition to knowledge he really has what most seem to have lost, common sense. Our reps have given away the country for the biggest reason of all, money. Let's pray all our notes don't get called in all at once.!

Tony Snow is drunk on the Kool-Aid, saying the American people would rather have Congress do more important things than go after Gonzo and rest of this Admin. Actually, many - most - Americans DO want Congress to go after these liars and restore the system of checks and balances this administration has tried to obliterate. And any bill that Congress doesn't get passed these next 16 months isn't for lack of trying; it's the idiot in the White House using his veto power to spite the Dems and the people they represent.

Gonzo is just the latest in the growing club of "Scapegoats and Fall Guys for W." I'm sure I'm forgetting some, but DeLay, Brownie, Libby are in the club. Gonzo, Rove, Snow, and the other survivors are safe in the knowledge that they can continue lying, concealing information, and everything else, because they know they'll be commuted or pardoned and never serve a day of any sentence.
