No, I’m the real conservative

In another attempt to appeal to the conservative base and position himself as the conservative candidate, in Iowa today Romney unveiled an “initiative to prevent pornography from reaching children on their computers.”

In an e-mail to reporters, the Romney campaign issued a “policy briefing” outlining his “Guarding our Children on their Computers” plan. He says this “major problem” is “easily solved through determined action.”

His plan includes making sure “every parent has access to software filters,” and he proposes tracking first-time sexual offenders by global positioning satellite, or GPS, for life. He calls this his “One Strike, You’re Ours” law.

Mitt Romney is an idiot.

Police State for everyone!!!!!!!

Shouldn't we maybe track down terrorists first?
That's not Conservatism, that's totalitarianism!

I love how the Media cannot acknowledge that  modern Conservatism is dead... unless you're Ron Paul, or Chuck Hagel.
romney better hope no one has been filming his "sessions" with that $1200 a week make-up artist, that is something no parent would want they're child to see
Quagmire in Iraq, Al-Quada regrouping, massive budget and trade deficits, illegal wiretaps on US citizens and shredding of the Constitution and ole Mitt's gonna save us from the horrors of children looking at porno.

Who says the man can't prioritize...

Thank God for the Republican right!!!
The only real conservative in this race is Dr. Ron Paul. He stands above the rest as an intelligent man of integrity, recognizing that it is not the federal government's responsibility to parent our children for us. Government meddling in affairs like these only results in increased federal spending, increased taxes, lots of red tape, and no results. Dr. Paul would rather let you keep the money you've earned and decide how to protect your own children.

Instead of promoting the idea that our government should be responsible (and in control of) every aspect of our lives, let's try for once to exercise our personal liberty and leave the government where it should be, as dictated by the Constitution.

And who is going to pay for this?  I don't know much about GPS but I figure it's going to cost a bundle to track millions of people for decades.  And is he going to specify which sex offenders will be monitored?  I am not in favor of sex offenses at all, but there is a difference between an adult flashing his/her "goods" to another adult (a sex offense) and someone molesting a child.  The latter deserves whatever is coming to him, the former deserves a second chance.

romney claims, child porno is a “major problem” that is “easily solved through determined action.” he doesn't tell you that he is "determined" to destroy the middle class because if they are destitute they won't have any money to access the internet, problem solved, that mitt he is a true believer in having a nation of have’s and have not’s, I guess he doesn't feel the fact that millions of americans can't afford access to health insurance a “major problem”, child pornography is a terrible thing but effects very few, and it is your choice as to whether you look at it or not, there are plenty of terrible things going on in this country which people do not have a choice in and are forced to deal with because of the repubs trickle up economic policies, I mean who isn't against child pornography, it's a cop out issue romney is trying to use to mask his feelings on more urgent issues that he would rather not address
I wonder, might Romney be pushing away some conservatives with this on the grounds of big-government or big brother for that matter.  The idea of the government tracking people by satellite might not be a good image.  The uncertainty of how wide a net 'sexual offenders' is casting might make him look too eager to intrude on people's rights and privacy, given the strictness of the policy.

Or am I wrong and really it's the tough-on-crime message that counts (as far as intrusion of federal government)?

Could I get the opinion of some conservatives here comment on this?
Jeff Morgan, Austin, TX / all the true conservatives are dead, you will have to talk to some neo-con fascist republican
I hope conservatives can see we r all in for some good old c************g if Romney becomes the US pres.
c*********k us once...a mistake
c*********k us a second time...we r morons
if they are talking of tracking people, then the ACLU will get their panties in a knot.  Parents just need to monitor what their kids are watching online.  Some parents don't and they wonder why all this stuff comes up on their computers.  The goverment seems to be doing as much as they can without having to get into a first amendment fight over people watching porn.  Look at the fight we have right now with the goverment listening to terrorists and all the liberals screaming about that.
Ohh, I guess Romney means it this time, he is the 'real' conservative.  Nope, no more flip flopping for him.
Suurrre...
Mitt, the candidate for censorship and book burnings.
He should have included witch burnings and he would have hit the trifecta.
