Fred keeps on blogging

From NBC's Joel Seidman
Candidate-in-waiting Fred Thompson, a frequent contributor to conservative Web sites like National Review Online and the Townhall.com blog, is once again promoting his views on yet another core conservative issue. Today, he is taking on the controversial subject of Eminent Domain, one of the growing list of core issues that Thompson has decided to tackle online.

"Our Founders placed respect for private property as a key principle when writing our nation's Constitution," he writes on his own Imwithfred.com. Homeownership, Thompson says has become an increasingly "integral part of our citizens' aspirations for a better future." And he lashes out at local governments' confiscating private property, "It's said that a man's home is his castle, but across America some property owners are being rooked by local bureaucrats and politicians and having their private property confiscated by local governments for the supposed public good," he argues.

It's yet another sign that Thompson is positioning himself as the champion of all things socially conservative -- from global Warming to immigration to gun control.

Socially Conservative - I think not, you got an extra spouse in there Fred and to us who are really socially & Christian conservative, that puts the bride count up one more than it should be.  But that seems to be the way of the Republican Party these days - my parents would roll over in their graves, and I won't vote for you, Rudy, or John because of it.

I wonder whats in old Freds closet. Hmmm.
We do not need any Nixon associated candidates in this race. The Nixon era should finally end with Bush.
He is right on Eminent domain.  If the goverment wants my property, it's going to come with a wad of cash that would choke a dinosaur and if they really want it badly, they are going to bleed to take it away from me.  Goverment should really stay out of the real estate business, does nothing but get good people seriously pissed off.
Yeah but Liberals don't mind risking someone else losing their property rights as long as they can get their EU Internet browsing shades of gray "what do you want to justify this week?" Judges. ehehe
jerry/corpus christi texas, he is right, but congress is the govering body that is responsible for Legislation, so this should not be a presidental issue. The Supreme court has decided that states have the right or responibilty to decide Eminent domain issues. Seems like we ask to much of a president. Their platform should be one that informs us on how they will act as commander in Chief. We do not need a president of the Congress. Contact your local state representives about Eminent domain and as you know governor zoolander perry has done nothing but stall Eminent domain reform in Texas.
her mama's name is Iris, sorry
Sure is a shame that Lamar Alexander and Bill Frist did not feel the same way regarding eminent domain - then maybe we would not have state and local governments rushing around trying to undo the federal nightmare those guys voted for (along with the other repugnant minions).
The only time the government should be allowed to take away property is if the landlord can not take proper care of the property - at least enough so others don't get harmed by the property's lack of care and disfunction.  I never cared for Zoning much myself- just another way for small business owners to do what they want and deprive hard working citizens from handing the property down to their children.
It is mine, I paid for it, as long as I am not doing anything illegal on it (murder, child abuse, growing the state's #1 cash crop)it is no one's business what I do in my own home (kitchen, living room, and bedroom included).
Since Fred is such a bush fan maybe he can get shrub to change his opinon of eminent domain and leave us all alone.  Now, that would be nice and a brownie point for Fred.
Perry wants that I-69 built so badly he can taste it.  He'll have to use eminent domain to get the road and he just may as well turn the keys over to the liberal party if he does.
TEC-SPRING is correct. It is a state issue and they have control over how to proceed with eminent domain. It's nothing wrong with POTUS candidates giving opinions but it is not their place to promote those opinions as law they intend to inact or push.
I shouldn't be wearin' white and you can't afford no ring.

Eminent Domain -- They latch onto some minor screwup in the country and make a big deal out of it so that no one will notice the big screwup going unfixed.  How did that Republican emphasis on tort reform in the 2000 election work out for us?
Freddy took a page out of the Rudy Guiliani/Newt Gingrich playbook.
He waited until his first wife put him through school.
Then, he abandoned her.
Then, he had fun with a bunch of hot little honeys.
Granted, none of them were sisters or cousins

Now he's working on his 'second family',

His child bride/Svengali, Jezebel 'Jeri' Thompson is running his Presidential campaign.
Apparently, his Presidential campaign is falling apart BEFORE he even announces.

Freddy get Ready !!
Bad Karma really sucks !!
Keep plugging those 'family values'

This kind of post is exactly what is needed. Candidates talking about issues, not he said/she said cat fights. I WANT to know how a candidate feels about eminent domain. Glad Fred weighed in.
When you finish reading that post, read his one on State's rights (federalism). Like Fred or not, this is the thing we all should want to hear from all candidates, thoughtful insight into their positions on real issues. Not questions from a snowman or a woman on a sh1tter.
Union Baby. WRONG!! The Republicans are the ones who started passing legislation to block that decision by the Supreme Court. I think it was Barbara Boxer who said "That's like questioning the word of god" Of course that was based on the fact that it was the LIBERAL judges, and one dummy who voted to turn private property over to wealthier people.

White Trash? Who brought up Bill Clinton? :-)
Family value retoric from San Francisco NOW THATS FUNNY.
Dave - You are wrong, or you have been living in a box behind those wealthy folks in Belle Meade again.
White Trash  and Carpet Baggers - guess they were calling for you Dave, don't be late or they may give your supper to the maid that does not speak English.
Union baby - no work today?  Whose cleaning the toliets?
Frederick of Hollywood is a playboy, not a true conservative.  Look at his wife of the month.  HOT!
you really blew it Sierra; family values in san Franscisco?????  Joan and Martha married and Jack and Joe married are not what 70% of Maericans would call family values.
The decision drew a scathing dissent from Justice Sandra Day O'Connor as favoring rich corporations.

Supreme Court nominee John Roberts - who is on track to become the next chief justice - told senators last week that Congress and state legislatures have the power to trump the decision, something the Republican-controlled House and Senate are working feverishly to do.

The House has already acted, passing a bill that would bar federal transportation funds from being used to make improvements on lands seized via eminent domain for private development.

Hard to find much more on this, Don't know why heheh
A candidate for the President makes a serious observation and probably at one time read the comments to see the effect. Why even bother? Do you limp heads love to see your comments in print? What is it, dope? Barf.

Such trashy talk and dim witted response must be discouraging. I thank those who gave the proper discourse to show we are all not blathering air heads and give a little respect to the man who has to be trashed in order to get out the message.
