Kos on Clinton, DLC, GOP attacks

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
CHICAGO -- Daily Kos founder Markos Moulitsas sat down for an interview this morning with NBC and spoke to First Read. He said the original purpose of the YearlyKos convention when he started it was "to put faces to screen names." Now, the convention includes more than 1,400 bloggers -- not just from Daily Kos but a wide range -- and major Democratic presidential candidates.

The candidates chose this year to speak at the left-leaning blogger convention instead of the once powerful centrist Democratic Leadership Council. But Moulitsas, who was not involved in the organizing of this year's YearlyKos convention, repeated that the candidates are not speaking here because they have shifted left. Instead, he says, it's all about how many people the netroots reach.

"If the DLC had a list of three million people," Moulitsas said, "they would go to that. It's not that they're centrist."

He also hit back at those on the right who criticize the Democrats for merely "pandering" to the left.

"It's that they hate when regular people are involved in the process," Moulitsas said, adding, "They hate Democracy if they hate this conference. It's as simple as that."

On Hillary Clinton's once-tenuous relationship with his blog and others, Moulitsas said, "She's doing a good job of negating the hostility. I don't think it surprises me."

He said he has not met with the candidates because he he's "not interested in being a gatekeeper. They don't need to go through me."

The candidates, though, including Clinton have blogged on Kos' site.

Watch Nightly News tonight to see the story on the YearlyKos convention, including the interview with Moulitsas. Look for the full transcript of the interview with Moulitsas later today.

This man is a hero to people like me, out of the beltway, with a sense of right and wrong, nationlistic, believing in American values, and it's constitution, and brought up to blieve in dignity for all people, not just those like me.
Pease see me "asap"...hillaryclinton.com
the potential 'savior' of democracy is the internet, the new word of mouth.. even mega-blogs seem homier then the established networks.. still the marketing in politics outweighs the messaging.. when that flips we'll all win, can you smell clinton/obama vs. guiltyione/rice ... now that's a media showdown.. it's still coverage not content..
Ah yes. ''Regular people involved in the process''. Markos seemingly reasonable stance is now juxtaposed with a video, released today, of a uniformed United States Army soldier who was grabbed and quickly hustled out of the convention by a KOS goon squad for having the democratic temerity to oppose statements being made by an Iraq antiwar organization led by John Soltz who was a KOS panelist appearing in Chicago. With not a little irony we will observe here that the KOS Konvention will be railing at ''fascism'',threats to ''free speech''and offering their ''support''of our soldiers that I witnessed on the tape which may be found over at PAJAMAS MEDIA.
It seems like no one is listening to the people.  We want our armed forces and mercenaries out of Iraq.  We want our infrastructure repaired, health care seen to. We want jobs back in this country. We want to see the Constitution of the United States followed.  No one is there speaking for us.
The Daily Kos is a prime example of what will disappear should America continue to sit by and let the Bush-Cheney Plotters pull off the COUP against Democracy Bush Grandpa Prescott and Uncle George HW FAILED TO PULL OFF against FRD in 1934.

Were it not for Gen. Smedley Butler (my grandpa was his driver) and Rep. John McCormick back then, the Bush Family & the US 5%-ers would have the other 95% Goose-stepping or in Internment Camps making license plates for a Nickle each!

Where is OUR Gen. Butler & Rep. McCormick with Bush & his Plotters at the Gate?
(And don't mention 'Collaborator Demos' like Gore, Kerry, Biden, (Mr. & Ms.)Clinton and Obama!)
Question for all Dem Pres candidates----

Do you promise to go to war only after Congress declares war?
Hi,

It is a Left hating website.

I had a "diary" on for about 5 days, only posted "good news" from Iraq and did not do anything wrong or violate any rules or even make any comentary myself. The members labeled me a "troll" and banned my diary. They are such cowards and hate anything thats good news...if they do not agree with it.

Peace!

Steve

Why did the Democrats give total spy power to the Republicans - known criminals who will use any means to fix the next election.  Are my credit card accounts and bank access to be closed, unless I vote a straight filth  ticket?
Politicians ignore bloggers at their PERIL!

People hate dailykos because of the leftwing nutroots, not because it's "regular people".

I've never failed to see a post wishing death on a member of Congress or the Pres, VP, and just recently the Chief Justice.

WHy they get any credit at all beats the hell out of me. Speaking of nutroots, nice crowd commenting hre, hey?
PAJAMAS MEDIA is bent out of shape because a UNIFORMED soldier was trying to speak out at a POLITICAL conference. He could have been court martialed for that. whether he was for or against anything is not the question -- soldiers are forbidden to speak in UNIFORM on politacal topics. That is unless they are the President's men doing his bidding -- like in '04 when General Petraus spoke about how well things were going in Iraq and how there were 94 battallions trained and able to fight along side of American forces.

This is a non issue that Pajama clad righhties are trying to make into something. He could have come back suitably clothed.
Sam Dobermann: Nothing in the UCMJ forbids a uniformed person from asking questions at a political forum. You are in error. The KOSSACKS were goons.
