Iraq & the Bush administration

Bush today has a lunch at Camp David with Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Secretary of State Condi Rice, and his Defense and foreign policy teams.

The New York Times: “Until last weekend, President Bush had repeatedly fallen short in seven months of battles with a Democratic-led Congress that would not give him what he wanted on immigration or education, health care or energy policy. But the Congressional vote that authorized eavesdropping without warrants on international communications, including those involving Americans within the United States, has shown that there is at least one arena in which Mr. Bush can still hold the line: terrorism. (See, ‘Democrats, Republican accusations of being weak on ...’)”

The Los Angeles Times has a piece suggesting that Democrats are happy Bush won't dump Attorney General Gonzales. Instead, Democrats see this as a way to keep Bush as a main issue in '08. Interesting thought: Could this mean some Republicans running in '08 (including the eventual nominee) will pressure Bush to fire Gonzales?

Jackson delay is no longer your working scumbag.
Real busy trying to stay outa jail!
My Senator Kennedy is still working for me!
Hey and don't forget to have your gang, dave tn, jerrie girl, rh and the other goons rally round ya.
Looks like Sugarland plays tricks on the brain. People can't count correctly.
Dave M., Miamisburg, OH--  No, but thank you for taking time out of your day in a fruitless quest to make everyone see how fruitless everything is. I am sure you have the best interest of everyone in mind.
What exactly did Tom Delay do to turn Sugarland into the sweetest place on earth? Use federal money to build brothels for the oil workers? Republicans crack me up, they're all for "fiscal restraint" then they send  millions to build an unecessary bridge in Red Alaska. Seems like the blue states are funding the red states these days.
Jackson, Houston-- I agree with you that congress and senators rarely answer back, at least mine don't

Mine do. Both Senators and my Representive answer every piece of (e-)mail and every phone call.  I even get answers from Senators and Reps outside of my state and district who I write.  I tell them they are leaders and represent not just their state/district, but the entire country, and ask them to consider my opinion.  During the Immigration reform debate, I contact ALL the Senators.  The only one that did not respond was Kohl from Wisconsin.  Just got a letter from Durbin in Illinois today - late - but it still showed up.

Is the Senator or Rep reading and responding to the e-mails personally?  I imagine they do for a small percentage of them, the rest is done by their staff I'm sure.

Even if you don't get a response, you can believe someone is keeping a tally of how people feel about various issues.
The conservative label has been hi-jacked by Christian conservatives.
