AFL-CIO holds off on endorsement

As expected, the AFL-CIO's executive council today has announced that it's holding off making an endorsement for president. The labor federation instead said that its 55 unions are free to make their own endorsements.

But the AFL also stated that it's leaving the door open to making an endorsement at a later date.

The splitting of the AFL-CIO vote helps Obama and Edwards in Iowa and New Hampshire, where union voters are a significant part of the primary electorare.

Any union person who seriously thinks that anybody is going to make the unions strong again is either dreaming or out of their mind. Unions might have been good back in the old days, but today they are not worth a can of beans. There is no job worship anymore, people will change jobs 20-30 times in their lifetime today. You go where the benefits are the best and the pay is the best. Unions can claim that they are looking out for the working people, but that is more and more becoming obsolete. Today companies know if they have to keep the best people, they had better keep them well paid and flowing in all sorts of gimmies.

Its obvious that Kucinich stole the debate. I can see why the crowd of Union workers likes him. His message has always been in thier favor. I'm sure he'll at least get a bump in the polls.

The AFL-CIO got burned, endorsing Dean early.

They're probably afraid the if (god forbid) Hillary gets the nomination, she'll remember who did and didn't endorse her.

Wow Jackson, Houston. Way to display the usual Republican grasp (or lack thereof) of history. For the record, NAFTA was conceived of during the Bush I regime and was ratified during the Clinton years. Nevermind that Clinton also complimented the treaty with The North American Agreement on Environmental Cooperation (NAAEC) and The North American Agreement on Labor Cooperation (NAALC) both of which sought to address concerns of evironmental and labor intrests.

But those are facts and reality. And we all know that facts and reality have a left wing bias.

Kucinich is their and our only hope. If any of these other frauds gets in there, not one of them will undo one thing that the bush crime family has done to destroy the Constitution and our rights and freedoms. Except for Dennis, the democrats are pathetic cowards.
