Fred frets over funds?

From NBC’s Kelly O’Donnell

In an e-mail just sent to supporters, Fred Thompson appeals for contributions in a way that has a tinge of money anxiety: "

...even a testing-the-waters committee needs ongoing financial support. If anything, it's more important, because just as testing-the-waters is about gauging grassroots support, it's also about measuring our ability to raise the money necessary to mount a national campaign...."

Thompson will make his first trip to Iowa as a potential candidate Friday. His e-mail also appears to gently play down the significance of the Ames straw poll, while hinting at his indirect presence through supporters.

Here’s the full e-mail:

"Well friends, the Iowa Straw Poll is done and there weren't many surprises. Except for maybe that small band of Fred Heads from Texas who drove up to Iowa. I enjoyed reading about their efforts to make a mark over the weekend!

“But most of the stories from Iowa were about process and theater, not what really matters: how we will meet the challenges that face our country. From national security, to protecting our core values and ensuring continued economic prosperity for all Americans, these are the stories we need to talk about.

“When I read about those kids from Texas it inspires me to keep working to get our message and our vision for America's future out to as many of our friends, supporters, and potential supporters as we can. We aren't playing by the rules that the folks in Washington think we should be following, but if we're going to keep this conversation going, even a testing-the-waters committee needs ongoing financial support.

“If anything, it's more important, because just as testing-the-waters is about gauging grassroots support, it's also about measuring our ability to raise the money necessary to mount a national campaign.”

Is Fred threatening to jump into the campaign again? He really needn't bother---he is yesteryears news.Just take the money Fred---you are a wimp or Karl is going to run your campaign
Well, Freddy, as they say... you snooze you lose. This is a case of too little too late. Sorry.
Fred should stop worrying about campaign contributions and just continue to draw his paycheck for "Law & Order."
Come on Fred...you're not dead untill you can't get out of bed. We need and want some good solid leadership. We're waiting.

G.L. Scottsdale, az.
Who in the hell is still interested in this lazy, old fart?
Endorse the Fair Tax and I'll definately contribute!
Domenico - I'm not hearing the anxiety. Its actually a pretty tame fundraising message, compared to some we've seen here.
You show your pilot (testing the waters), do some audience testing, line up your sponsors (contributors) and only then can you launch a new TV show and hope you get renewed for a second season.
FFFF...Foney Fred Frets over Funds...he needs more money to NOT accomplish anything...wow, he really does want to carry on in the style of GW.
Lazy is a four-letter word-- so is Fred!
Why is an actor so important to the republican party?
See how easily the bar is lowered. How easy it is to modify your preception. The democrats lowered the bar to nearly starting the primaries two years before the vote. If you do that every 4 years then we are in a Predidential Primary race 50% of the time. 50% of our lives will be lintening to this. You have all heard Hillary & Obama talk so much, followed by everyone else, your bored.
Fred isn't late yet, granted it needs to be soon. BUT this is normal. Hillery forced the field way early this year. You see, she had so far to go, to move to the center, she had to start a year early. Most everyone but Fred Thompson, jumped right behind Hillery. None of these Bozo's should have been campaining until now. Hillery & Obama should have been on the Hill doing the job they were hired to do. Be Senators!!

Fred's right on the ball. Listen to your wife Fred. In the end they are always right....

"Fred, the checks in the mail as soon as you decare!"

Fred's republican money swindled away from the less fortunate may not buy happiness, but apparently it will by a trophy wife
Since there is nothing else negative for the guys to write about, what do we hear "appeals for contributions in a way that has a tinge of money anxiety".
What a crock. Is that it? Show me a candidates website that is not have an "appeal for contributions". Talk about having the spin cycle set on high.
Hey guys, time to quit your dayjob.
I agree, maybe its time for Fred to get out of the race before getting in.. hehe
What a waste of energy!
"testing-the-waters is about gauging grassroots support, it's also about measuring our ability to raise the money necessary to mount a national campaign...."

Well, Fred, by that standard I would say that you've pretty much failed the test.
Freddy has enough to worry about just keeping his girl wife satisfied! MUST be exhausting for an old guy.
He will never have time to be president, maybe why he can not campaign as yet, to tired.
Fred needs to give up, recieve hefty royalties from Law and Order, and enjoy the years he has left with his young trophy wife.
A big old fool who has a very much younger wife than himself.Hmmmm, why hasn't this dufus jumped in the race yet?I wonder how they will spin all those scandelous stories that we haven't heard yet about this character.
At least he is not another Hillery. She'd convince you that the end of the world is coming if you don't contribute. "Give to Hillery or Bush might re-appoint himself CIC!!"
Bah, go find something important to write about.
Like I said earlier..........
(yawn)
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
WHO IS THIS OLD FART ?
Looking at that young wife, he's my kind of family values guy.
A fool and his money are soon parted.  I think Fred Thompson's a lazy doofus.  That said, let's get off the "young trophy wife with an old fool" thing.  Jealousy ain't pretty.
Fred, like Tommy, "just go far away!"
Lets compare:
Fred:
2nd Marriage. Amicable divorce. Wife is younger than him.
Hillery:
Broken marriage. Husband still cheats. Wife is frigid.

Fred:
Has request on website & email asking for donations. 3 million so far.
Hillery:
Has request on wevsite & email asking for donations.
30 million so far. Spent ?? million.

Fred:
Likes small government. Let the state have thier rights back. Federalism.
Hillery:
Loves BIG government. Big brother know whats best for you. Watch me dance in the center, see me jump left, way left.

Fred:
Someone said he likes Whiskey?? I'll lift a glass with him anyday.
Hillery:
Someone said she likes taxes?? I'll fight that anyday.

Fred:
That's all I've heard. Keep digging boys...

Hillery:
WhiteWater
Rose Law
TravelGate
Contributions from Monks
Inflexable
Monica's ghost
Hillery Care
Socialism
NAFTA
Cronyism
Special Intrest groups
30 million dollars in favors owed and counting...
Hippocrit Lover NY, NY--I thought it was his granddaughter. This could be a problem.  She may have to go to bed to early on school nights to properly entertain at the White House.
Did you say he was interested in family value????  What is your next joke.  Is it because he is a republican?  Better check on that "family values thing".
RH,Your obsessing about Hillary again...becoming like Jerry?
Give him the nomination, he look's like he needs it.
I would vote for this old idiot. This is what America needs.
Recently Chris Matthews on Hardball commented that "It is ironic that the only republican in the front runners who have had only one wife is the mormon."
"That said, let's get off the "young trophy wife with an old fool" thing.  Jealousy ain't pretty."

Oh please. Women like her are a dime a dozen. I see that all the time and there isn't anything to be 'jealous' about.

"I think Fred is a lazy doofus". There speaks a well informed voter. I'm going to bet your entire education on Fred Thompson has come from soundbites and blogs. Do everyone a favor and before you vote for the leader of the freeworld, R or D, do some homework! Doofus? My god were in trouble...
So...Fred's having money and a beautiful wife makes you morally and financially bankrupt losers even more envious...what a hoot!  I like his "management style" even more.  He may never become POTUS, but this fellow certainly knows how to live life to the fullest---a fact lost by you small-minded, bitter quislings.
Can't wait until Fred actually gets in the race. The Republicans need someone with good conservative values, and someone who will own up to actually having them.  I think its rather funny that no one thinks he is worth anything, yet the poll results show the exact opposite.  For a man who hasn't even officially declared yet, he is ahead or tied in close seconds with Rudy.

Good Luck Fred!

A question for Her Royal Heiness, Kelly O'Donnell...
Do you feel a twinge of anxiety when you post your photograph from 35 years ago as a current representation of your obscene corpulence?  That extra 350 pounds really shows up on you jowls in real life!  Jack Sprat still loves you, as you can eat no lean.
So far most of the criticism seems to be about his age,the fact that he has a hot young wife and the perception that he is lazy. He is about the same age as most U.S presidential candidates of the last 50 years or so and so what if he has a young wife? As for being lazy, I dont see how somebody who is lazy could go from the son of a poor Alabama farm hand to a successful lawyer, a two term U.S senator, a tv and movie actor and a member of the council of foreign relations. I dont think Hillary is lazy but she didnt rise out of a lower income household or even pass her bar exam the first time, Thompson did.
Karl Rove for President. He's our man if he can't steal it nobody can.
I suppose if a Republican must win the election a do-nothing president would be the best -- much less mischief. Sort of the Eisenhower type.
Fred please give it up, you'll short out your pace maker.  If keep"testing the water" there won't be any left for you mix with your scotch.  Stick with "Law & Order" at least there no one will see what a bad actor your are.  The press will chew you up and spit yoou out if you try to run.
I guess what really tickles me is the big hoopla over Hillary's showing a little cleavage and then seeing the pictures of Fred's wife, showing more than a little cleavage!  What a hoot!!!!  Didn't hear anything from the Bible-thumping, holier-than-thou side about that, did we?
