A new date for Petraeus' testimony?

From NBC's Mike Viqueira
The date of September 11 for the General Petraeus' testimony in the House does not sit well with Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and she is asking that the date be moved from the anniversary of the attacks -- which Pelosi views as "a sacred day," according to sources in her office.

It has been reported that House Democratic leaders signed off of the 9/11 date, but that is not accurate. The Administration offered the 11th or the 12th, and no date was agreed upon, according to the same sources.

Problem: The only alternatives would be the 10th (a Monday) or the 12th (Wednesday). In the latter case, the hearing would have to be concluded before sundown and the beginning of Rosh Hashanah. The House will not be in on Thursday the 13th or Friday the 14th due to the holiday.

This just highlights the desparate position Bush is in with the way he manages this country - everything is photo op and no planning.
Wouldn't want it to coincide with a big Anti-war demonstration on the 15th would we?
Do America a favor and take the rest of the year off.
what is rosh hashanah?
can i just say thank god for the shuffling around at hardball. i used to really like chris matthews, but lately he's been overly biased and annoying. he never let's any of his guest's finish their thoughts. and he puts words in people's mouth. not to mention he takes things out of context all the damn time.
Hey Gary-- so you're cool with the 9/11 testimony?

Is the date sacred or not?

Man, you can't please you phony "patriots" who think 9/11 is only a GOP tragedy.
What, Rosh Hashanah became a Feberal Holiday and no body told the nation?
hmm- Hey! Don't be messin with the 51 state man! Jeez, you tryin to screw up revelations?
It seems that Bush did it again, he caused the liberals not to make a choice of dates they were offered.

Do you mean the Bush slanted Iraqi report date to begiven by General Petrais with the complete Bush regime controlled statement, passed by Karl Rove report ?
Betty, Baltimore, MD --Well it's obviously not sacred to Bush. He wants to use it for his political purposes this time and Rudy thinks it is Giuliani day. Doesn't matter anyway. The Report is a farce.
September 15 matters though. Washington DC.
Be there and shout loud!
Of course, they want it on 09/11.  Anything to keep the FEAR factor going.
Yes, Mary Smith it's the Bush slanted Iraqi report date by General Petrais with the "complete" Bush regiem controlled statement, passed by Karl Rove Report they are talking about.
$ 9,000,000,000.00 a day to be in Iraq Report.
dont worry when they get done with sept 11,"bring em on "Dead or alive""the last throes"will be added to with the phrase just a little more time .The next report will be on dec 7 then dec 25 for christmas and then george washingtons birthday then valintines day and mermorial day 4 th july labour day and a year will have passed the only thing that will have changedis the number of us and iraqi death
I agree 100% with scott. Chris Matthews should
put a zipper on his mouth. What a difference
between him and Tim Russert (who doesn't
interrupt his guests).
Nancy continues to be out of touch.  She probably saw the 9/11 meeting date and said "That date sounds a little familiar, but I just can't my boney finger on it".
Seriously, now...The 11th is ALWAYS the day that Pelosi has her hair retinted and her pedicure to hide the claws of Carnivorus Raptorforniae.  Don't want to interfere with da b*tch lookin' purdy.
General BetraysUS is going to live upto his name.
Can't meet on the weekend or a holiday because the life and death of 10,000 people is not as important as "spending time with the family."

We all know that Petraeus and the soldiers in Iraq don't work on weekends and holidays.<=sarcasm
Tom, that's not fair. The Bush Administration does try to plan the photo ops.
Chris Matthews is on a mission.  He, along with Olbermann, have decided that the Republicans are the source of all evil, and they must go.  Deep down, I don't believe either of them believe it, but . . . , its a living, and the bosses like it, so, onward and upward.
Hmmm, Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year. I don't see why the White House keeps changing the date for the outbrief. The 15th of Sept. was considered good enough a couple of months ago. Besides, Gen. Petraeus will be reading the White House version of the report to Congress.
Rosh Hashhanah a national holiday?

I'll work it!  Time and a half.....
Oye vey!
Lar not republicans...neoconservative war pushers...there is a difference.
They could give their speech tomorrow----we already know what it will say---the retreaded whitehouse Bush Cheney speech is old news. This regimes opinion means nada----only wish they did not hold the keys to the whitehouse. They have commited treason in this country and still will not be held accountable.
CJ--Agreed, difference noted and accepted. But Republicans are acting as enablers and are as guilty as the Democrats in playing politics with peoples lives as they bide their time for best advantage before cutting Bush and the ideological bankrupt Neocons loose.
man, its getting worse, worse than 1969. Relive 1860, anyone?
Only the Governement gets away with all these days off and gets to vote themselves payraises at midnight...EXECUTIONS MIGHT BE IN ORDER FOR THESE SCUMBAGS!!!
jtb, one of my husband's ancestors was killed in southern Illinois in the late 1850's during an argument with a neighbor over slavery and State's Rights.  I don't think we've reached that point yet.  However, if you come up here to visit northern Illinois, please leave that sword cane at home, okay?
