Roll Call broke the news: “Sen. Larry Craig (R-Idaho) was arrested in June at a Minnesota airport by a plainclothes police officer investigating lewd conduct complaints in a men’s public restroom, according to an arrest report obtained by Roll Call on Monday afternoon. Craig’s arrest occurred just after noon on June 11 at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. On Aug. 8, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor disorderly conduct in the Hennepin County District Court.”

VIDEO: NBC's Bob Faw reports on Sen. Craig's guilty plea.

The article also has these details: “According to the incident report, Sgt. Dave Karsnia was working as a plainclothes officer on June 11 investigating civilian complaints regarding sexual activity in the men’s public restroom in which Craig was arrested. Airport police previously had made numerous arrests in the men’s restroom of the Northstar Crossing in the Lindbergh Terminal in connection with sexual activity. Karsnia entered the bathroom at noon that day and about 13 minutes after taking a seat in a stall, he stated he could see ‘an older white male with grey hair standing outside my stall.’ The man, who lingered in front of the stall for two minutes, was later identified as Craig.”

On the heels of that Roll Call story, the Idaho Statesman runs this five-month investigation into the senator’s personal life. Craig’s “June 11 encounter with the officer was similar to an incident in a men's room in a Washington, D.C., rail station described by a Washington-area man to the Idaho Statesman. In that case, the man said he and Craig had sexual contact… In an interview on May 14, Craig told the Idaho Statesman he'd never engaged in sex with a man or solicited sex with a man. The Craig interview was the culmination of a Statesman investigation that began after a blogger accused Craig of homosexual sex in October. Over five months, the Statesman examined rumors about Craig dating to his college days and his 1982 pre-emptive denial that he had sex with underage congressional pages.”

The Washington Post adds that Craig “resigned yesterday as Idaho chairman of the presidential campaign of former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney (R). Craig ‘did not want to be a distraction,’ said Romney spokesman Matt Rhoades, ‘and we accept his decision.’”

“Last night, the Romney campaign restricted public access to a YouTube video in which Craig also praised Romney.”

Stupid repubs. Gay senator hits on police officer.
OH my God Noo!! Yet another closet homosexual in the repbulican party! What a shocker!!! There's many more antigay, antigay marriage, homophobic repubs out there who are as queer as a nine dollar bills. Gigantic hypocrites!
Ah yes, the "family values" crowd is at it again.
It's time to get rid of these people, folks.
Time to vote em' the hell out of congress, and send em' packing.
Larry Craig represents only the tip of the ice berg when it comes to G.O.P. (Gay Old Pedaphiles) hypocrisy.
These republiCANTS are tearing our country apart, while they look for sex in airport bathroom stalls, patronize New Orleans brothels, and proposition young boys over the internet. All the while telling society that WE must be wholesome and pure!
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH America!
IT'S TIME FOR THE G.O.P. TO GO!!!!!
Another hypocrite has been nailed. Oh, how sweet! Feet tapping, playing footsie, and running hands underneath stalls. Hooray for dem Republican 'family values'!

Wondering if Rush will 'touch' this Senator - I leave it up to you as to whether the pun is intended or not.
jerri why dont you explain the republicans not being honest about they gay lifestyle they lead in private while publicly condemming that lifestyle, why cant the republicans just be onest?
I am sorry for him and his family. His ideology of denial and the need for false public fronts has led him to engage in extremely risky behavior that has endangered himself and his wife and is a bad example for young people.
Here we go again it's me on the hypocracy watch.  So Mr. born again, holier than thou Larry Craig likes to pick up guys in men's rooms.  He joins an ever growing list of hypocrite right wingers that infest the republican party.  Bob Livingston, speaker of the house during the Clinton impeachment show.  Was on the floor of the house calling Clinton a heathen and an adulterer all the while having sex with shetland ponies behind the Rayburn building.  Or Jim West, the gay born again mayor of spokane, Washinton who voted against gay rights issues all the while trolling male chat rooms looking for same sex dates.  Or who can forget Mark Foley, the right wing chairman of the committee on exploited and abused children sending lewd e-mails to under age pages.  Or that evangelical leader Haggard, the crank addict who denied having sex with a male prostitute.  Here's the deal to all my right wing bretheren in Corpus Christi and Tennessee, you know who you are.  Democrats are guilty of the same things right wing republicans are guilty of, pedophilia, homosexuality, corruption, etc.  But there's one big difference --- the Dems don't preach or tell you how to lead a moral life.  The Repubs are famous for this type of hypocracy becuase they do preach and mix religion and politics.  The southernization and evangelicazation of the Republican Party has tainted it forever.
Didn't something like this happen a few weeks ago? Or was that another Republican involved in a public restroom lewd act controversy?
Of course, this jackass will deny everything... he'll say he was 'set up' - lol - in spite of similar incidents in the past. People like Craig really think we are stupid.

Yeah, it's all a big conspiracy. Poor Craig is being 'dragged through the mud'. Awww...
Larry Craig pontificates about "family values" and against "gay rights."  His actions in the bathroom show he doesn't really care about the dangers he presented to his own family and the reason he's against "gay rights' is because he wants to keep his own sexual behavior in the closet (or, in this case, in the bathroom stalls of public places).  I wonder, Senator Craig, if your family will ever live down the shame you've created for them; it's obvious from your votes in the Senate and your solicitation of sex in the bathroom that you, sir, have no shame.
Being gay is one of the least offenses of Repubs. What is worse, to be gay or to help corporations steal billions from American taxpayers. These old boys are giving the people too much circus and not enough bread.
Heard from the Malkin-Coulter crowd-"It was all a plot" by the Democrats who put something in the bottled water that the Republicans drank-Something called "gay-warming" a new chemical that induces homo-sexual behavior
Oh Merle.....

yes there are a few people in the GOP who need to go..

But let us not forget......

Hillary Clinton and the Chinese connection
Obama and the Chicago mafia
Edwards and kicking people out of their homes in N.O.
Biden and plagiarism
Murtha and ABSCAM
Leahy and the murder in Egypt
Barney Franks and his gay friends in his apartment
pelosi and her husband's land deals in california
Feinstein and her hubby's military contracts
Harry reid and sweetheart land deals

See, Liberals are just as bad as Conservatives!

Lloyd:They most certainly do. They merely take a secular road to do it. Take algore for instance and his liberal pals. They demand that Americans approach global warming within a moral and ethical framework. And then, like the ''family values''Republicans, become instant hypocrites in this matter.
Morality and ethics also play a role in the ongoing battle of who and who does not accept lobbying monies. After having pointed fingers at Clinton for accepting both lobbying as well as campaign monies from the owner of the dreaded FOX News,we found that Edwards not only accepted monies from a Murdoch-owned company, but that he is awash in lobbyist money himself in the form of hedge fund companies that wish to continue their off-shore practices. Ergo, hypocrisy.
At the heart of the matter is whose ''morality''is being pushed, and who actually lives by the words of their preachings. Thus far,as has already been observed,''All have fallen short''.
Yeah Lee, but the mantra of my conservative values and what i thought was true consevatism was limited government, not only in your fiscal life, but your social life, your recreational life, your sexual life, etc.  A liberal is someone who believes that the government should be an advocate on behalf of the individual, that the individual can't go it alone.  He needs government to advocate on his behalf.  A true conservative believes the individual should go it alone, that the government can't be an advocate for the individual.  The right wing evangelicals, unfortunately, believe that government should be an advocate on behalf of the individual when it comes to moral issues.  They just don't practice what they preach at all, worst hypocrites I have seen this century.  You're right, if you want to equate a lapse in morality with lobbying money and trying to earn an higher than average rate of return.  But it just doesn't have quite the sting as when a priest molests children.  They are using morality to divide this country and no one does it in a more disguting hypocrite fashion than the religious right wing of the Republican Party.
Lee just curious who do you consider a viable canidate on the Republican side and why?
Jerry, that's what you come up with, Biden and plagiarism.  I come up with Foley and underage senate pages.  Plagiarism, what are you ten years old?  Murtha and Abscam.  You really have nothing left because you know deep in your heart, though you'll never admit it that the true hypocracy lies in your new party and my old party
jerry/corpus christi texas--
"See, Liberals are just as bad as Conservatives!"

Jer, this is great progress for you. Your beginning to be able to accept that hypocrisy is bi...er I mean  bipartisan.
Is it my imagination or do all these neocons live in an alternate reality fantasy world where they are an untouchable elite of near-gods who can do as they please while the lower forms must kept under tight control with strict rules and harsh punishments.
Juan: Reagan.Being dead is no excuse.
Not to fear, Lloyd, Jerry will go even further back and drag Carter into this mess. He'll bring up the failed hostage rescue attempt and use that to smear all the Dem candidates. THAT is how the Right-Wing brain operates.
Not so fast Gary. Jerry still will not condemn the 'bad apples' on his side just as much as he condemn the 'baddies' on the Dem side. Look at his 10.27 AM post. Oh, just a fleeting mention of "yes there are a few people in the GOP who need to go.." but DETAILS when it comes to those on the Dem side that he despises. Same tactic used by righty talk radio hacks.
From what we've heard people are born gay. Haven't heard anyone claim people are born Republican. If that's the case wouldn't  that  make him more of a deceitful gay,  than a deceitful Republican?
See the Catholic church has been drug into this. Same question applies. Lot of pedophiles showing up in the ranks of teachers. What's that say about the teacher's union?

Jerry you forgot to remind them of Gerry Studds :-)
Lloyd is right. This ain't the Republican Party of Reagan that I supported. This is the shameful, hijacked, religious right, extremist Republican Party that I cannot associate with. It's a shame that both parties are being hijacked by their extremist wings.
another ho-hum republican being outed. Why do they not just do a group thing and all come out at once. Why do we have to be subjected to them having to out themselves one at a time----
Lloyd....

I wonder what Barney Franks was doing....Nah why go there.

So you believe that a liberal needs to be wet-nursed by the government....pretty sad.

That's why New Yorkers needed a woman from Illinois to come and teach them about growing up.....

But she is failing the grade.
It seems that if Monica Lewinski was a guy, then the Republicans may have been OK with the whole thing.
"Didn't something like this happen a few weeks ago? Or was that another Republican involved in a public restroom lewd act controversy?"

Different Republican; in that case Representative Bob Allen, of the Florida House of Representatives, offered $20 and oral sex to an undercover police officer.  Similar situation in that the public restroom was being staked out after complaints of lewd behavior.
Toe tapping is a code! Now I understand why Dobson, Medved and the other evangelical neocons thought the movie "Happy Feet" had gay undertones. They should know.
Hey, let's also not forget about Senator Vittner from Louisiana, he was the latest and greatest Republican hypocrite.  He's the one whose name was found on the call records of the D.C. madam.  Oh yeah, and he's a family values guy just like Larry Craig.  Merle, love that GOP, gay old pedophiles, freakin religious right wing hypcrites.
Great posts - especially Lloyd in this section.  All of the Republican individuals listed in his first post (and many others) elicits a response from jerry citing things such as the Clintons and the Chinese?!?!  You have got to be kidding me - that is along the same lines as, "well, Obama stole a cookie from the cookie jar when he was 10."  Half of the things noted by jerry are falsehoods and half are stretches of the truth, pushed in a way to make others believe there is an issue.  Pathetic tactics.  Dems and Repubs both have good individuals, as well as dishonest and immoral ones.  Get a grip.

Who is your candidate, jerry?
I don't care what party someone is in, having anonymous sex in a bathroom is highly risky behavior that is potentially dangerous for children and  disgusting in general, germ-wise.  I also don't want someone making decisions about my country who shows such mind-"blowing" poor judgement.  Would you want this man kissing your baby?

******************************************************
(Rolling my eyes and shaking my head).....See what I mean America...THIS is the mentality we're dealing with, and this is why the party of the pedaphiles has to go!

* Hillary was never connected to any chinese thing
* Obama was never connected to any mafia thing
* Edwards didn't kick anybody out of their home.
(But Trent Lott DID use government influence to get his home re-built and SUED his insurance company despite the fact that he wasn't covered in case of a hurricane)
* Joe Biden never plagiarized anything
* John Murtha was never indicted or convicted of anything
* Neither was Leahy
* Barney Franks having GAY people in his apartment isn't news, because Franks is OPENLY gay.
* Pelosi's husband hasn't been charged with any wrongdoing.....and
* Neither have Feinstein or Reid.

jerry, you and your republiCANTS seem to think that making wild accusations against your political opponants is the way to win elections. You seem to think that the mere hint of impropriety will win you points with the electorate.
Ya' don't even care if you have to cut into a few war veterans to do it. (Like Murtha and Max Cleland.)
The G.O.P. (Gay Old Pedaphiles) is busy pointing fingers at everyone else, while it's own membership is;
a) patronizing hookers in New Orleans cat-houses,
b) propositioning undercover cops in airport bathrooms, and
c) soliciting sex from little kids
Really jerry.....don't you think your party needs to clean its' own house before it preaches to anyone else?
I mean, how can you govern, when you can't even control the behavior of people in your own party?

As for Pelosi, Reid and Feinstein, you sound like the republicans last year: They haven't been convicted.

It's the ol' double standard, eh Merle?
Yo Jerry, I don't think liberals need to be wet nursed.  Obviously if you read my post, that's not what it said.  But can you read, from Texas, doubtful.  Truth of the matter is and I'll say it again since you dragged New York into this,  I was a republican way before it was fashionable, when ya'll were dixiecrats.  Ever since you guys took hold of the party and Evangelasized it, you get the same results as the Taliban.  True conservatives like me don't want no government anywhere but you dixiecrats still like the government handouts, so you keep striving for that power.  It's a shame the way you guys wrecked the party after the Yankee Blue-Bloods unfortunately let it go.  True limited government conservatives like myself are truly repulsed at the Bush's and Cornyn's and the Kay Baily Hutchinson's and the Inhofe's and the Thad Cochran's of the world.  Being a conservative ain't synonomous with going to a revival meetin", but how would you know that Jerry if the only political meetin' you ever went to was held in a church.  Yeah, you guys like limited government, make me laugh some more.
The writer who mentioned the "southernization and evangelicazation" of the Republican Party may be onto something.  I'm a life-long Republican and Christian, and I'm not too sure when the two became intertwined in American politics, but that's not really where I want my party go.  Suddenly it seems that the party has become more preachy than governing; and it's lead to hypocrite after hypocrite being outed or caught.  Is it just me, or has every Washington sexual faux pas since Bill "Cubanized" Monica involved a Republican?  Honestly I don't care if Senator Craig is gay or bi or even tri-sexual.  What I care about is false fronts (lying) and a person's ability to work in the capacity they were elected.  But nowadays it seems that the Republicans are more concerned with "Family Values" and saving each other that important legislation dies on the vine.  Enough is enough, and we true Republicans need to take our party back!  Being a Republican should mean a heck of a lot more than one's personal stand on abortion or gay rights.  It should reflect state's rights, smaller government, and personal liberties.
Maybe Craig can go to that rehab the preacher went to last year that magically "cured" him of being gay.  Or maybe he can say he was drunk, and just go into a regular rehab.  Or, he could just stick with his denial.  The Republican Way: if you can't go into a rehab, LIE AND DENY!!
Bill, I'm the one that mentioned southernization and evangelicalization and you're so right.  The party should be concerned with state's rightsmaller government and the protection of America's personal liberties.  But when boobs like Jerry got involved in the party all that true conservative stuff got thrown out for the sake of the religious right and this , "I'll defend my party at any cost even when they are dead wrong,"
mentality.  Bill you got it right, the party let us down
jerry/corpus christi texas--Jerry, you incredible genius! Barney Franks is an openly Gay man.  He has sex in bed like everybody else. Not is Sh*ter stalls with strangers. Homosexuality isn't the problem. Hypocrisy that leads to illegal behavior, public indecency, is.
Having lived in Idaho for many years, I can say that this is quite satisfying.  Craig has been insufferable in his arrogant holier than though manner for years.  His arrogance is on full display in his "attempt" at explanation, taking us all for fools.  Perhaps his most unforgiveable action is keeping this secret, hoping that no one will notice, a United States Senator owes the people he serves more.  My only hope now is that the people of Idaho will see him for what he always was, a pompous hypocrit.
See Jerry, New Yorkers and Texans CAN agree on something, I guess!  Y'all got better pizza up there, but we got ya beat on Tex-Mex food (and maybe BBQ).  Anyway, one of my favorite quotes from Winston Churchill goes something like this:  If you're 25 and not a liberal, you have no heart.  If you're over 40 and not a conservative, you have no brain.  Moral leadership is moral leadership, no matter how Christian a legislator may be.  When did our government become so polarized?  I seem to remember a time not too long ago where Republicans and Democrats seemed to work together, more or less.  And now it seems that some of the political backstabbing in DC borders on treasonous; and it's both sides of the aisle.  The Dems are seemingly headed for a good 2008 election, but I'll bet you that none of these knuckleheads want you to probe their closets too much. Anyway, I'm not sure what the answer is, but I'm sure enough sick of the problem.

P.S. Which one is the real Ray's Pizza?
The saddest commentary is that I think the people of Idaho are stupid enough to re-elect him, if the congress doesn't kick him out. Why dont I move????
Oh ya clean air.
I think our politicians are sexually frustrated.  Our republicans have to live up to such high expectations with this religious family valus stuff that they are going insane and ready to burst inside.  They need some outlet in oral sex or whatever is their liking.  Why shouldn't our tax dollars pay for the installation of sex stalls in the House and Senate so that the lawmakers don't have to fly to far off airports to get relief?  Shouldn't we lighten up on these overworked power hungy lawmakers and accept that they have their sexual quirks and funny turn ons?  It's time we let them out of the closet so that they aren't forced to present a false front to keep our votes.
