Oh-eight (D): The other Hsu drops

CLINTON: The New York senator won the first endorsement by a national union in the 2008 campaign from the 125,000-member United Transportation Union.

The Los Angeles Times follows up on yesterday’s Wall Street Journal article about Clinton fundraiser Norman Hsu (who has also donated to Biden, Obama, and other Democrats over the years). “For the last 15 years, California authorities have been trying to figure out what happened to a businessman named Norman Hsu, who pleaded no contest to grand theft, agreed to serve up to three years in prison and then seemed to vanish… Since 2004, one Norman Hsu has been carving out a prominent place of honor among Democratic fundraisers. He has funneled hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions into party coffers, much of it earmarked for presidential hopeful Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York… Hsu [also] has focused on delivering hefty contributions from citizens who live modest lives and are neophytes in the world of campaign giving.”

Said Clinton spokesman Howard Wolfson in the article: "During Mr. Hsu's many years of active participation in the political process, there has been no question about his integrity or his commitment to playing by the rules, and we have absolutely no reason to call his contributions into question or to return them."

The Wall Street Journal runs another piece on Hsu (but not including the bit about the grand theft). “People who have met him at events describe Mr. Hsu as warm, giving, charming and well-dressed. But unlike most big fund-raisers this cycle -- such as hedge-fund magnate Paul Tudor Jones for Mr. Obama and buyout pioneer Henry Kravis for Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain -- Mr. Hsu remains remarkably low-profile. Even some other Clinton fund-raisers say they don't know him at all and have been surprised to see him emerge as a top fund-raiser.”

The New York Post writes there is “furor” over that family in the lime green house that’s given her $45,000. “Campaign aides yesterday said they won't return tens of thousands of dollars contributed by a seemingly low-income family living in a tiny bungalow tied to one of the Democratic Party's biggest donors.”

DODD: The Hartford Courant’s Lightman on Dodd picking up the endorsement from the International Association of Fire Fighters: “The 280,000-member union, whose backing was sought by most major candidates, will provide Dodd with an instant network of local workers throughout the country as well as some potential for more fundraising.” More: The union … has long been close to Dodd, who wrote major legislation in 1999 to provide more federal dollars for training and equipment. After the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, he pushed for state and local grants that would allow fire departments to hire more personnel… Dodd will … immediately embark on a multi-state tour with firefighters, who are particularly active in New Hampshire, the nation's first primary state.”

The Washington Post calls the news the “first significant prize in the competition for labor union endorsements.” “The firefighters count 281,000 members, meaning they are only the 10th-largest union in the AFL-CIO. But they are among the most politically active and symbolically prized labor groups in the country, in part because of the heroic actions of firefighters at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon when terrorists struck on Sept. 11, 2001.”

EDWARDS: USA Today reports on Edwards recent campaign swing through New Hampshire. “With his megawatt smile, unruffled demeanor and smooth accent, Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards looks and sounds like the optimistic, positive guy he claims to be. But on his second trek along the primary trail, Edwards has a dire message for voters and increasingly pointed criticism of his opponents.”

“‘I'm the same person I've always been, very positive, very optimistic by nature. And I always speak true,’ he says in an interview. ‘I see some truths that need to be spoken, and I do see the need for real, specific, substantive change.’”

RICHARDSON: Richardson is setting the bar for himself in Iowa. "I think that in order for me to do well, I have to beat one of the three major contenders,” he said.

I think the bank that gave re-financed the Paws home needs to be investigated as well, there is no way that house is worth that much money.  Now that California knows where this gentleman is, they should start proceedings to expedite him back to California to begin serving his three years and give him extra for fleeing the state, he is a fugitive criminal.

Is this what the Clinton's are all about?  using criminals to finance their campaigns?  This is the green light for Obama and Edwards, especially Edwards, to go after Hillary with no holds barred.  What kind of idiots use criminals to bankroll their campaigns.  If the FEC doesn't look into this, then they are just as corrupt as the Clinton's.
Norman Hsu did not have sexual relations with that woman... or steal that car.
It's time for Mrs. Clinton to hit the 'self–destruct' button.
A small lime green bungalow.... $270,000.00
3 yrs of democratic party contributions.... $200,000.00
Postal service salary.... $49,000.00
Having your best Chinese fundraiser be a convicted felon still wanted for grant theft.... PRICELESS

Hop aboard the Oreint express. Billery is selling discount tickets through their WhiteWater travel agency. All aboard.....

Hillary Rodham Clinton, don't throw your vote away on another worthless washington money whore, vote for a candidate that wants to get rid of all the hillarys in washington, john edwards
New York: Clinton Dominates Giuliani

Tuesday, August 28, 2007

In a race between two New York politicians, New York voters stay with the party line and prefer Hillary Clinton over Rudy Giuliani by a twenty-five point margin, 58% to 33%.

The former first lady is viewed favorably by 63% of New York voters, while America’s Mayor is viewed favorably by 47%.

She would CRUSH Rudy in the general election. If Giuliani's home State, where he was, "America's Mayor", doesn't support him, and we don't, why would anyone else?

Van
Hillary's dirty money problem is nothing new, but it's not going away either.  She seems to be calculating that the average Democratic voter isn't smart and attentive enough to understand and care about this issue.  But statements like "Lobbyists represent real Americans" are starting to reveal the real Hillary Clinton, and it's not a pretty picture:
http://unitedagainsthillary.wordpress.com
I can imagine Howard Wolfson went to ground after this story went public, how in the world can he defend this?  This is almost as bad as Larry Craig trying to defend himself against sex charges.

Time to call in Dog the Bounty Hunter, he probably can find Norman Hsu.  Typical California, they let OJ go free, why not Norman Hsu?
Hmmmm, a few years ago, wasn't there a bunch of bucks "donated" to the Clinton-Gore team from some Oriental/Asian/Chinese "temple" dwellers? Could that connection still exist? What were the specifics of the fraud charges that convicted Mr. Hsu? Could this be the other shoe hitting the floor?

some sort of "connection" between
TheDonald: "It's time for Mrs. Clinton to hit the 'self–destruct' button."

Mrs. Clinton IS the self-destruct button.
For those of you who call us zealots..a picture  (video)is worth a thousand words.  Check it out

Aren't we the selective readers today?  Don't ignore this little tidbit:  "...Norman Hsu (who has also donated to Biden, Obama, and other Democrats over the years)."  It seems to me if we want to really be thorough about this, we would investigate Hsu's ties to contributions for all of the candidates he has to whom he has donated and/or for whom he has raised money.
Clinton, and it's not a pretty picture:

With a name like that it is sure to be as unbiased a site as "Bad stuff 'bout Barack.com", and, "Richardson is a bum.com". lol

There are ANTI sites for every candidate, but you don't see them posted here. I wonder who's campaign you are fronting for?

Does anyone who reads more than the headline, and doesn't have an agenda, really think that this is a scandal, let alone, big news? It's fundraising, and if you look at the names for the other candidates, (hedge-fund magnate Paul Tudor Jones for Mr. Obama and buyout pioneer Henry Kravis for Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain, it's a rouges' gallery.) These guys aren't directly connected to any of the campaigns.
There are MANY more important things happening TODAY. It will be interesting to see whether this story has any legs in the coming days.

Much Ado About Nothing - Shakespeare
Clinton is defintely a power roller, and with an machine so large it's no telling who you are recieving money from. Democrats don't usually prefer such types.
The Democarats will try to hush this by screaming about Senator Craig's problem. He should just resign. Period. But what should Hillery do? The accusations of fiscal wrongdoing just keep following her. WhiteWater, Mr.Clinton's monk donations, cattle futures, fugatives as high level donation collecters. If Craig should resign, what should Hillery do? As the old salsa commercial said "New York City! Somebody get a rope." What a bunch of crooked thieves. Well as they say 'Birds of a feather, flock together'. But when the flock's together it's easier to get them all with one blast from the ol' shotgun.
BANG BANG Billery & Crew.... Retire.
For the last 15 years, California authorities have been trying to figure out what happened to a businessman named Norman Hsu, who pleaded no contest to grand theft, agreed to serve up to three years in prison and then seemed to vanish.

"He is a fugitive," Ronald Smetana, who handled the case for the state attorney general, said in an interview. "Do you know where he is?"

A couple of questions remain. Were the cops actually looking for him? And how did he pass Clinton's, not to mention the DSCC's, vetting process?

No surprise...they have never cared...They have a long history of campaign $$$ scandels

seems you boys missed that he's an equal opportunity financier.. obama and edwards top his list too.
LMAO.

but then the gop gets money from the saudis
Carrie...lets get real.  You are going to compare the $7k the 6 people in the house gave to Obama. With the $45K they have given to Hillary this year (Paw's).

Hsu is a Hillraiser ( I could make a comment but won't) pledgeing to raise $100k for her presidential campaign.

He  (HSU)raised over 1 million for her Senatoral campaign.  This guy is a criminal (convicted).  She says she want give the money back.

She'd better hurry up and get that money for the Sept fundraiser ....who knows  now that the police know where he is.
vanreuter, NY NY posts more meaningless drivel / "In a race between two New York politicians, New York voters stay with the party line and prefer Hillary Clinton over Rudy Giuliani by a twenty-five point margin, 58% to 33%."

are the people of new york the only ones voting for president van? because if they are not I guess this data is meaningless, maybe I missed something? or maybe you can't come up with any current cannon fodder to back your corporate owned hillary

what would you like to know?

probably not the fact hillary should do some jail time for accepting money from the criminals she hangs with
Carrie, that's not fair and you know it!!! He's dontated way more to the Clintons than of those other candidates.  Also, a family of modest means (the Paws) have donated $45,000 to the Clintons???? WHAAT???  This is the type of stuff that could bring her down if she's not careful.
More than 1 Norman Hsu?
MKMO will be the first on the trash-heap.

This is why;

I decided to ignore ALL of your other posts that seem to be OBSESSED with ME and my statements, and you indeed will go back to the garbage-heap of nasty, small-minded losers, where you and your pathetic cries for attention belong; But this one screamed out for exposure;

Just to prove what a liar, hypocrite, and frankly, mean-spirited PARIAH you are MKMO;

vanreuter, NY NY states /  "This is why I, and others here have stated that anyone who says that if their candidate is NOT the nominee, they won't vote for the winner in the general election." what they have been saying van is "they won't vote for hillary if she is nominated" no other dem candidate has had that statement made about them so quit twisting it around to make it look otherwise
MK,MO (Sent Tuesday, August 28, 2007 3:58 PM)

Here are the posts, from yesterday, from a thread you were on and had to have read, to PROVE to everyone that you don't deserve any consideration from decent, reasonable people;

Are all these Hillary supporters who hate and won't vote for the other Democrats really Democrats or is this a Republican dirty trick. Ditto for the rabid anti-Hillary people.
nuanced (Sent Monday, August 27, 2007 5:23 PM)

Van, I had Tom Carrington and others in mind, not you. I know that real democrats will support the nominee whoever she is. I was referring to those who stated they would not vote for the other democratic candidates.
nuanced (Sent Monday, August 27, 2007 6:43 PM)

van at least it was an honest statement, not pompous condescending blather or prostituted polls numbers, you should try making an honest statement one time, it would be a cleansing experience for you, by the way vanster explain to all us commoner's why hillary is a better candidate than say, john edwards? we await your answer on bent knee o conceited one
MK,MO (Sent Monday, August 27, 2007 7:59 PM)

You even REPLIED on the thread. How sad.

I won't dignify any of your future sad and angry cries for attention , after this exposure, as what you are and what you try to do here is more than evident to those who are actually worth my time.

Van

vanreuter, NY NY (Sent Tuesday, August 28, 2007 5:18 PM)

Not only does this poor soul do nothing but attack, but his attacks are repetitious and seemingly designed for getting attention. You've got mine, so welcome to the trash-heap, where you and your rhetoric will feel right at home.

Van
georgerogre and louie,,,,, you believe because obama sucked down a little less money, he's less corrupt? LMAO.

Why do Obama supporters have the brains of bush supporters?

BUsh was inexperienced too.
BS BS BS BS BS BS

I'm so smart  I'm so smart

Hillary is a saint  Hillary is a god  Hillary can do no wrong

Stop signing your posts, it is so NY arrogant.

I sincerely hope that other, fair-minded members of the community will join with me in this attempt to elevate the level of debate, and transform the board, from an uncivil, back-biting, often adolescent shouting match, into a forum for the exchange of ideas and intelligent discourse.

HaHaHa. Are you outing yourself??? Just another twofaced dem?? Fair minded..HehHeh..

"and you indeed will go back to the garbage-heap of nasty, small-minded losers, where you and your pathetic cries for attention belong."
"what a liar, hypocrite, and frankly, mean-spirited PARIAH you are"

So much for raising the bar. Egomaniacs can't live with 'em, not legal to shoot 'em.
Actually, I'm appalled at the people actually defending this guy. I'm not Hillary fan, but I'll probably support her if she's the nominee.  People this is just wrong--plan and simple. Clearly, Hillary is more involved with this guy than anyone else, but that doesn't even matter.  We shouldn't accept this type of behavior from any of our candidates. This is something that could bring any of them down, but especially Hillary b/c of the Clinton's money connections. T
George - Oh, I see...so, it's okay for people to give to Obama because they don't give as much money?  Shouldn't it be the principle of the matter rather than the amount they accepted? I mean, isn't Obama all about changing the face of politics and all that idealistic nonsense?  Kinda hard to change the face when you've got your hand in the pocket as well, isn't it?
Tuck....as Tim Russett aked yesterday  (MSNBC)and no one could answer including Hillay spokesman.  "exactly what experience DOES she have".

The more that line gets challenged the more people will see not only does the "queen" have no clothes but she is corrupt too!!

There seems to be a pattern developing:

PRO-CLINTON 'DIRTY CASH' MAN FLEES
By CHRISTINE FIELD
March 4, 2007 -- A Pakistani immigrant is wanted by federal authorities on charges he channeled $30,000 in illegal contributions to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential war chest.

The FBI is hunting Los Angeles businessman Abdul Rehman Jinnah, who vanished soon after his grand-jury indictment for violating federal election laws last May.

Clinton's camp has denied any knowledge of Jinnah's scheme, which is also alleged to have funneled more than $50,000 in illegal donations to the political action committees of Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), the Los Angeles Times reported yesterday.

Jinnah, 56, a cellphone and frozen-yogurt businessman, allegedly collected campaign donations from family members, friends and employees at fake fund-raising events - then reimbursed them. The scam allowed him to evade the $2,000 limit on individual contributions to candidates, the feds say.

He is believed to have fled to his native Pakistan after his indictment on charges of conspiracy and making illegal campaign contributions.

"She would CRUSH Rudy in the general election. If Giuliani's home State, where he was, "America's Mayor", doesn't support him, and we don't, why would anyone else?"

Van,

Giuliani's New York troubles have been well-documented in the last couple weeks, so it is not surprising that he would be that far behind - especially in a blue state.

Also, it doesn't seem like you to do this, but it would appear to the average citizen that you are basing an entire general election on one state's polls. Perhaps she would beat Giuliani in a general election, but basing that conclusion on the fact that he wouldn't carry his home state doesn't hold water.
The Federal Election Commission has fined the Soros-backed leftwing PAC America Coming Together (ACT) $775,000 for violating rules in the 2004 election. The fine, which was approved unanimously, is the largest ever dished out by the FEC in its 33-year history.

UPDATE: Here is the press release from the FEC, along with a pdf of the 13-page conciliation agreement that spells out the details of the violations.

One final note with an '08 twist: guess who joined ACT in May 2004 as its Chief of Staff and then took over as President of the Organization in February 2005? Harold Ickes. Yes, the same Harold Ickes who was Bill Clinton's Chief of Staff and rejoined Hillary Clinton's campaign as "Adviser to the Campaign Manager" in April.

What is that SMELL..that keeps coming

Except for Van, none of the rest of you get it.

THIS IS CAMPAIGN FINANCING.

Just remember "Finance Reform' is nothing but a smoke screen to distract us from the real big (dirty)money.
Jerry are you calling the republicans stupid for using Jack Abramoff.Ohh Im sorry they let him come and go without logging into the white house before he was convicted, what was huu convicted for and what charges have been filed by this republican hand picked attorney Generals have failed to bring these charges against hilliary you would think they have been trying to get forever whats taking so long to drum up some charges, maybe right before the election a drunk driving charge will surface ohh im sorry thats you man BUSH,DUI DUI DUI lie lie lie
This may die down now but expect the Republican to give it big headlines if she were to win, right or wrong they will go something like this:

CHINESE DESTROY DOG FOOD, FOOD, TOYS NOW THEY TRY TO BUY THE PRESIDENT

MARK RICH, NOW HSU

wake up dems...they are holding their fire until its too late
It seems to me that the guy giving $2k to Obama's senate bid vs. hundreds of thousands of dollars of direct and bundled contributions to Hillary's Senate, PAC and Presidential campaigns might have elicited different levels of scrutiny?   However, that is also the nature of Obama's fundraising vs. HRC's.  If you are dependent primarily on high dollar donors and lobbyists, then you are bound to have to dance with the one who brought you.  I am sure there are some bad people amongst the hundreds of thousands of donors Obama has attracted, but he is probably not so beholden to them.  This situation just smells so much of the scandals of the Clinton years.  We need  a fresh start.
"Except for Van, none of the rest of you get it.

Just remember "Finance Reform' is nothing but a smoke screen to distract us from the real big (dirty)money."

I don't understand how Van is the only one who gets it. Please enlighten me.
Tuck: So do the Clintons. Bill Clinton has recieved an estimated 2 million dollars [some estimates are as high as 20 million. The Clintons thus far refuse to divulge their Saudi money sources other than what the press already knows], from the Saudis for speaking fees not counting the 600 grand he made in two speeches in Riyadh last year to two Saudi investment firms of which the bin Laden Group owns shares in both. [as well as Democrat big-money campaign contributor BECHTEL,also a bin Laden-invested company]. Further, the Saudi royal family donated an undisclosed amount to Clintons presidential library in Little Rock,Ark. The idea that the GOP is solely tied to the House of Saud is revisionist and dishonest. Indeed, both George Soros, whose leftwinged PAC was just busted by the Feds for the illegal use of election monies, and algore have both benefited from Saudi largesse along with the Clintons.

First Obama took $7000, now it is $2000.  First Hillary got $45,000 now it is hundreds of thousands.  Did I miss a breaking news story somewhere?
You forgot to mention the most important line from the LA Times article with Mr. Hsu.

"He is a fugitive," Ronald Smetana, who handled the case for the state attorney general, said in an interview. "Do you know where he is?"

:-)
Who cares....this is all so boring...
You angy, jealous anti-Hillary types are just drumming up more crap to justify your dislike of Hillary-So you don't like her-put your energy into someone you do like -but that's probably no one!
hillary is being swept into the white house by BIG MONEY.
she can not do it alone, and when she gets in the white house, it will be pay back time.
