Ch-ch-Changes...

Posted: Wednesday, September 05, 2007 12:52 PM by Mark Murray

From NBC's Mark Murray
The Clinton and Obama presidential campaigns today both are going up with dueling TV ads that talk about change. Clinton's ad, which is running in Iowa and New Hampshire, concludes with this line: "If we have the conviction, she has the experience. If we're ready for change, she's ready to lead."

Obama's, which is running statewide in Iowa, ends with Obama saying, "We are going to take back our government; we are going to make a change."

"Change" versus "experience," of course, has been one of the constant themes between the two Democratic front-runners -- with Clinton now touting that she possesses both attributes.

sonya, By economics, I did was generalizing. Your better details sound as correct as I can remember it. History books were a 'few' years ago. I did not know about Lincoln's views until a short while ago. I don't remember that detail from Social Studies class. Amazing how history gets massaged by those writing it down. I guess my disagreement with the original post was more the assertion that the political controversies were about race & gender. I have not heard anyone, worth listening to, that maintains that either Hillary or Obama would not make good BECAUSE he is black or she is a women. People dislike her politics and I have yet to hear much about Obama that is not fluff. IE: not experianced. Anyway...
obama obama..real change..he is the one
Senator Clinton is not authentic. She can take many positions on same issue depending on audience and will defend all of them. For last few days she is talking about change ONLY because she wants to show the people that there is not much difference between her and Senator Obama on change and on the top she is more experienced. She is even using Obama's words/phrases in her new stump in a planned way just to do that. Well that also says she knows she is not inspiring. Her own words does not resonate with people. She has to steal phrases/words from Richardson or Obama to get her point across.

35 years of experience of doing what Mrs Clinton? What did you achieve other than "still standing after 15 years of right wing attack machine". Why it matters to American people if you have fallen or still standing? What matters is what you achieved in all those 35 years. That 35 years include wife of Arkansas gov for 8/9 yrs and first lady for 8 yrs. These are not political posts or elected office. There was no way you could be a NY senator if you were not a 1st lady or had a last name of Clinton. Please support your claim of experience and strength and change with specific example. If you don't have the right judgement, can't provide the right direction to the country in difficult time like on decision of going to Iraq, then what your strength or experience worth anyway? Just campaign rhetoric, slogan is not enough conceal the fact that you have no significant achievement. This time it will be difficult to make american people fool like Bush did.
Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. I am sure American people are not ready to be fool again!
PYRRHIC says that "Women are better leaders than men it's know as multi-tasking.  Women think with the head on their shoulders, men with the one in their pants."

A woman President would be all cute and cuddly for three weeks out of the month, but then there's that one week where they'll be nuking countries like Peru.

Okay, Carrie...MK did not call out those three women based solely on the fact that they support Hilary. Were that the case, he would have addressed a greater number of users in this forum. Rather, he took issue with the few who vie for Hilary without any supporting evidence as to why she is the better candidate. They merely exalted her as the future first-female-president thereby laying FOCUS on her "mommy parts" rather than on the issues at hand.
To Concerned African American: It is very unfair of you to accuse Hilary enthusiasts of what is basically a racist outlook. How is such an unfounded generalization even remotely accurate??? While I am for Obama all the way (Woo Hoo!), I have to acknowledge the fact that many Clintonites, like Obamaists, have concerns that lie within the spectrum of the real issues. You should at least show them that much respect.
And Larry Flint, please grow up.
I think the idea of a Clinton/Obama ticket is all part of the bogus "Barack is too inexperienced" argument. Obviously, the Clintonistas know he's the biggest threat to her winning the nomination.  He’s a better candidate and they can’t win on substance, so they need a non-specific reason to convince people that he needs more experience to help get him out of the way, preferably without attacking him too much and alienating too many of his supporters. Trying to paint him as needing more time and then having him as VP serves their campaign purposes and gets him the experience he supposedly lacks.

I still think Obama would refuse if asked to be the VP for Hillary, but I'm not fully convinced she would even ask him. After all, she would have spent the whole primary campaign telling everyone he's not ready, so how could she subsequently turn around and tell everyone he is ready to be "a heartbeat away" from the Presidency?

Why, a flip-flop like that could be a disast......okay, wait a minute, hold on. I just remembered something. We are talking about Hillary Clinton here, so I guess it is very likely she would ask him.

The fact that there are a lot of Clinton supporters saying both that Barack is too inexperienced, but also that he would be a great VP choice for Hillary helps to illustrate how little thought they are putting into their choice of candidate.

Wake up, people!!  Barack Obama is a superior candidate to Hillary Clinton in every way if you just compare their respective records.  What documented legislative successes has Clinton had?  Why is she hiding her records from her first lady days yet claiming that same time period as part of her experience?  If she is so “strong,” why has she not come out with a health care plan or written an op-ed about a controversial topic such as Cuba or refused to take the PAC money as Barack Obama has done?

Why will she not publicly state what her foreign policy will be as Barack Obama has done?  Why will she not release her list of earmarks as Barack Obama has done?  Point after point, policy after policy, experience after experience, Barack Obama is a vastly better candidate with the experience, strength and character to be a great president.

In any event, if the Democratic party is foolish enough to send the junior senator from New York to the general election, I am tempted to just stay home on election day, but that would increase the chance of a Clinton victory, so I would have to, instead, vote for whoever the Republican is.  Unless, of course, Barack runs as an independent.

But enough about the nightmare scenario, I prefer to envision a day when President Obama recalls with pride how his grassroots support and tireless advocacy for the American people resulted in his landslide victory in the 2008 presidential election.
Obama will not choose Clinton for his running mate.  Remember, he's the "change" candidate.  Besides, his supporters wouldn't have it!
Celina - I'm sorry, who are you again?  I don't recall seeing you posting here, so perhaps you have not been aware that MK has a daily rant about the mommy parts and how people support Hillary only because she is female.  Yes, only because she is female.  MK has stated this on many occasions - the only reason anyone would support Hillary is because she is female.  Look for yourself, I'm sure you could find half a dozen posts in the last week that say that.  Almost without exception, anyone who says something positive about Hillary is blasted as being obsessed with her "mommy parts"...when really, few people other than MK actually mention Hillary's gender at all.
Celina   All you can say to Larry Flint is grow up.  My you sure are wishy washy..          Tell the jerk it is MEN who nuke the world all day, everyday, 52 weeks a year!  They are the people who like war and guns and GI Joe dolls!!  And the only time they are cute and cuddle is when they are 2 years old.
Senator Clinton the change will be wonderful!
Senator Clinton the change will be awesome!
Senator Clinton and Mk Mo will get mommy parts too!
Now that is CHANGE!  Vote for Senator CLINTON!
RH from Oregon I apologies if I offended you with my remarks earlier.

The true civil rights movement actually started with freed slaves during the late 1700's.  Women’s suffrage moment is date back to the early 1820 or so. Do I believe there where and are still good white people who fight for the freedom of all… OF COURSE! If it weren’t for the blood spilled the promise of this country would have never seen the light of day. BUT, it was the mobilization of the civil rights movement in the south in the early to mid 20th century that opened the door for ALL PEOPLE in this country. There is no denying it!  As for the Civil War, it was the result of the Union splitting not for the freedom of blacks. Where their good white male soldiers who fought for freedom of blacks… well Col. Robert Gould Shaw and his family are heroes to me.

The point of my post was I don't believe some white women are giving Obama a fair shot.  Just like it would be wrong to vote for Obama because he is black. It is wrong to vote for Hillary because she is a woman. Voting should be based on the candidate’s deeds.

To me Obama would make a wonderful president.  I'd vote for him if he were a blue alien from Mars with one eye because he has demonstrated his conviction to equality, he has great experience and most of all he is honest!
