Oh-eight (D): 'Just like that, he's gone'

BIDEN: The AP writes, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden arrived in Baghdad on Thursday for a one-day visit to assess the military and political situation ahead of a report from the top U.S. commander. He was scheduled to meet with Iraqi government officials in the capital and visit tribal leaders in Anbar province. He also was to meet with U.S. troops and other military officials.”

CLINTON: Calling her the "clear" frontrunner, The Washington Post’s David Broder decided to devote his off time to reading up on Clinton. He concludes: "Her marriage is the central fact in her life, and this partnership of Bill and Hillary Clinton is indissoluble. She cannot function without him, and he would not have been president without her. If she becomes president, he will play as central a role in her presidency as she did in his. And that is something the country will have to ponder."

The New York Times front-pages this headline in its print version: “Clinton Donor Appears to Be a Fugitive Again.” How quick will Clinton's opponents begin to compare Norman Hsu's fugitive status with one-time fugitive Marc Rich?

Hsu's attorney said he doesn't know where he is and Hsu "even hoodwinked his office, sending them on a wild-goose chase for his passport at his Manhattan condo." After a 90-minute search, the passport was not found.

While unveiling a new GAO report on EPA's second program to address 9/11 contamination, the New York senator did not miss the opportunity to attack the Bush Administration, NBC’s Lauren Appelbaum reports. "Where the Bush administration and the EPA has failed, we must do everything we can to succeed," Clinton said, with New York Reps. Jerrold Nadler and Carolyn Maloney standing by her side. The trio said the report shows serious flaws in the EPA's ability to address indoor contamination in New York after 9/11.

Clinton also said the Bush Administration has a "disregard for scientific evidence" and promised to send the EPA "back to the drawing board" to come up with a plan to test and clean up dangerous contaminants and to ensure the EPA is prepared for future disasters with an indoor contamination component. "The EPA, in fact the entire government under this Administration, is not prepared for the present," she continued. "We need to be sure it is prepared for the future."

DODD: He’s calling for a ban on all Chinese imports.
http://www.boston.com/news/politics/politicalintelligence/2007/09/dodd_calls_for.html

EDWARDS: The campaign nabs another union endorsement today, via the Transport Workers Union. The campaign notes: "Close to half of the TWU members and retirees live in states that will caucus or vote on or before February 5th including 8,000 members in Nevada, 10,000 active and retired members in Oklahoma, 12,000 active and retired members in California, 8,000 active and retired members in New Jersey, and over 50,000 active and retired members in New York."

Meanwhile, look for the Edwards camp to tout the new Quinnipiac poll in Ohio that shows him doing better against all of the GOP candidates than Clinton.

OBAMA: The Illinois senator continues to sharpen his attacks on Clinton, taking on her failure to pass health care reform in '93.

Carroll County-based Iowa columnist Doug Burns is impressed by Obama's most recent stopover in the area.

Obama also made headlines yesterday by claiming that experience isn't an issue between him and Clinton and Edwards.  "I've passed more bills, I'm sure, than either of them. Certainly on the state legislative level." Obama's campaign staff told the AP that he was referring to his work in the U.S. legislature and the U.S. Senate. (As NBC/National Journal campaign reporter Aswini Anburajan notes, this is a comment that's dying to be fact-checked.)

By the way, Obama's appearances in Iowa may be resonating with voters there. The National Review online says that the most surprising convert from a 50-attendee coffee for Obama was the host herself. "'I've always been a Rush Limbaugh listener,' Stephanie Frederick says. 'And sometimes I find myself thinking, you know, a lot of the things that school of thought thinks... Of Obama, she says, "A lot of what he had to say really made a lot of sense to me.'"

The man truely has the ability to unite this country.

From the National review online article above, the entire article is worth reading:

Strough, a self-described “independent,” said she likes Obama because he seems like a candidate who can help the middle class, which she says hasn’t fared well under the Bush administration. She says that after working in public housing in Sioux City, she’s convinced that Bush has cut too much funding for social programs. Despite his campaign’s focus on poverty, John Edwards seems insincere to her. Obama, she said, seems “more down to earth.”

A number of Republicans in the state of Iowa apparently feel the same way. Last month, Obama came in third behind Romney and Giuliani in a University of Iowa poll that asked registered Republicans to name their preferred general election candidate. “What we’re seeing at this early stage, among people looking forward to the November 2008 election,” the pollster told Campaigns & Elections, “is that Obama is the Democrat Republicans are most likely to vote for.”

But what if he doesn’t get the nomination? I put this question to Stephanie Frederick. She says, “I know one thing for sure: I will do anything not to have Hillary Clinton in office.”

“I know that sounds terrible, but she’s just not somebody I have a whole lot of respect for, and I really think it would be a disservice to our country to have her in office,” Frederick says. “I think she lacks morals. Totally.”

When I mention Hillary Clinton at Hutch’s Cafe, Heidi and Vicki react as if I’ve uttered the name Voldemort. The prospect of another Clinton administration seems merely to disgust Vicki, but Heidi is positively terrified. “God forbid,” she says, looking around the tiny room as if for hidden cameras. “There’s nothing that woman won’t do.”
Like obama said...."to know him is to love him".  How can you not love the guy.

Go Obama
"How quick will Clinton's opponents begin to compare Norman Hsu's fugitive status with one-time fugitive Marc Rich?" Less than 2 sentences, by my estimation, if First Read is any indication. Strangely, the NYT article, neither makes that tenuous connection, or mentions his name.

Here are some folks who wish that they could photo-shop, Norman's many photo-ops.

OpenSecrets' Donor Lookup comprises contribution data available electronically from the Federal Election Commission on Monday, August 27, 2007. Because campaigns and other political committees typically disclose their contributions on a quarterly or monthly schedule, it can take several months for a contribution to be recorded in this database."

Thank you First Read !!
You were wise to lead with this important news !!

Hillary Clinton, 15 years of dishonesty, scandal and divisiveness
'the most surprising convert from a 50-attendee coffee for Obama was the host herself. "'I've always been a Rush Limbaugh listener,' Stephanie Frederick says. ..., "A lot of what he had to say really made a lot of sense to me.'"

Who's going to unite this country ?
Who will bring people together ?
It's Obama who will !!

Obama/Edwards '08
End 15 years of corruption and divisiveness !!
It is time Obama challenge HRC and Edward on their Experience. Obama is absolutely right that he passed more bills than HRC and Edward.
Not so fast BEE...I checked it out you should do the same.  Even counting his time in Il. he does not measure up.
Sierra - A chick with big boobs did come along.  Her name was Monica.  Clearly she did not break up the partnership.
Here is the links to his records. I can't even find anything for HRC and Edwards

http://www.nytimes.com/imagepages/2007/07/29/us/politics/20070730_OBAMA_GRAPHIC.html
how much did it cost hillary to make hsu come up missing? could any politician be more corrupt than clinton? I think not. hopefully she will drop out soon so she can avoid being handcuffed on national tv
The man who can bring us all together has a 45% UNFAVORABLE rating. The man who can bring us all together isn't even the most popular in his own party.

("Clinton is viewed favorably by 81% of Democrats and unfavorably by 17%. Obama is viewed favorably by 66% of those in his party, unfavorably by 28%. Forty-four percent (44%) have a Very Favorable opinion of Clinton while 31% say the same about Obama.")

How can this be? The numbers MUST be wrong! He leads in focus groups (McCain won the Lutz/Fox focus for the repubs.), coffee shops, and in crowds he's drawn in the past, so take that MSM, polling firms and people who don't see the irrefutable truth that he is the only one who can bring us all together!

I can see an Obama/Paul unity ticket scoring a near unanimous victory over the forces of political (and other kinds of)reality, based on the opinions on this site. Or maybe they can run against each other and still bring us all together. It could happen.

Van

Right, Carrie, Monica just 'suspended' their partnership !! and Gennifer Flowers 'suspended' their realtionship, and Kathleen Willey, and Paula Jones, etc

Kinda dysfunctional, isn't it, Carrie ??

van: you've got NOTHING TO SAY and you take up so much space saying it !!

Norman Hus is a 'HillRaiser' !!
He's not a DemRaiser, he's not a BidenRaiser,
He's a 'HillRaiser'

Mark Rich WASN'T PARDONED BY THE DEMOCRATS !!
He was pardoned by Bill Clinton AFTER his wife made campaign contributions !!

Sierra, SF, you're an idiot!  Hillary is not corrupt. you have no idea what you are talking about.  I'm sick of your baseless accusations.  Get a life and stop blogging. You're noise hurts my ears.
Sierra: Just this weekend Kathleen Willey house was broken into and only a manuscript of the Clinton years adn yes of he groping her in the oval office was taken. She is ready to release her book on Bill Clinton and Hillary in November. Remember she was accosted by "friends of Clinton" NOT to testify or plead the 5th in the trial over Paula Jones. Hillary has used the IRS in auditing people that turn against her..Google 'Clinton Rapes" and click on the first tag, I doubt you will see this because of the  censorship at MSNBC. I still feel very strongly that Obama is our best choice, there's too much out there on the Clintons for the republicians to use We will see a lot more on Obama now that Oprah is onboard.
It should be interesting to see how this plays out tomorrow...more campaign dirty pool by Hillary

Clinton in Court

In a story that could likely go under the radar, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton will be in court tomorrow (Sept. 7)...well, in a manner of speaking. More precisely, a California appeals court is being asked to reinstate her as a defendant in a suit. Paul v. Clinton features Mr. Peter Paul, a Hollywood-businessman-turned-bitter-campaign-contributor (see his site here) against the Senator, Mr. Clinton and several members of the Senator's campaign. Mr. Paul is being represented in his suit by the United States Justice Foundation.

The bare-bone facts surrounding the case have to do with Mr. Paul's agreement to help raise money for Clinton's Senate campaign in 2000 (see his amended legal complaint for all the details here). Mr. Paul was the executive producer of the "Hollywood Tribute," a star-studded farewell dinner and concert tribute for Mr. Clinton that raised funds for Senator Clinton's campaign in 2000. Paul claims to have contributed at least $1.9 million to underwrite event expenses (which is considered "soft money" and provides a way candidates can get around the $2,000 "hard money" or direct contribution limit). In exchange for his donation, Mr. Clinton was apparently going to work for Mr. Paul and his companies as a rainmaker for one year. Mr. Paul's suit claims that Mr. Clinton committed fraud by agreeing to work but never really intending to do so, and that Senator Clinton was aware of this arrangement (and thus should be liable as a "conspirator").

Pat, Huntington, NY / sorry pat but hillary is most corrupt, you are making a baseless accusation if you say she isn't, everyone knows she's been as corrupt as they come for years, look at her past it is nothing but one criminal act after another, some people just choose to look the other way, most don't, the media loves her, maybe because she owns it, don't put hillary on a pedestal when she actually belongs behind bars, all you chicks on the east coast push her, just because of the female dealyo, keep her in new york
Sierra - I don't recall the Clintons ever being separated.  So much for your suspended theory as well.
Hmm. Biden is going to Anbar. He had better watch out. According to  General Charles Schumer[DSM DSM,with Oak Leaves,Meritorious Service,Bronze Star,Legion of Merit],Anbar is a ''failure''..Sorry,wrong general. That would be Petraeus, who was also recently seen having lunch with soldiers in Schumers ''failed''Anbar.
I have a couple of candidates that I favor one doesn't seem to have a chance and as I have said before on this blog I will vote for the nominee. If you stay home because your favorite did not get the nomination you are giving 2 votes to the republicans. I would probably switch my allegiance to anyone who would promise to eliminate the presidential pension. The pension was started because Harry Truman left the white house with less money than he went in with, as I recall at the time it was $50k per annum. We got a bargain pension wise with Reagan because he didn't live long. Bush who did more harm than good will be feeding at the public trough for many more years.
MK - What part of the media does Hillary own?  I wasn't aware that she had purchased media outlets.  Please provide details.
Sierra - I don't recall the Clintons ever being separated.

They were seperated at birth.
None of you know if Clinton is corrupt or not.  YOu have no proof either way.  So your both being naive in the way you think you understand someone you don't really know.

Voting on someone's agenda, experinces, and ability to make things happen seem to be the only logical idea.  Right now, Im liking Joe Biden, but I'm not going to make up my mind and shoot my mouth of 5 months before an election.

Im just paying close attention to ideas the canidates present. And defenitly not listening to the news, if you can really even call it that anymore.
Rufus, if we just vote for the same person all the time, we get the same nothing happening.  I lean left, but I would rather see conservative idea's being tried out in this country, than putting the same people in office who keep doing the same things with the same results.  Thats not a shot at Hillary, but if she turns out to be of the same nothing we've had since Nixon, then vote for somebody different cause it doesn't matter who wins between all the previous presidents we've had, inability has been their legecy.  Baby Boomers, do something different, Vote for someone who will actually change something.  Please, your kids hate you for a reason.
