Fred doesn't know about Jena Six

Asked about the Jena Six case today on his way into a San Antonio fundraiser, Thompson said, "I don't know anything about it."

Also, Thompson revealed that he is a descendant of Davy Crockett’s, the most famous defender of the Alamo, the city’s most famous landmark. "I'm just kind of following the path of my ancestor, Davy Crockett from Lawrence County, Tennessee,” Thompson said. “I hope I don't have to stay forever like he did, but I'm sure enjoying the time I got here. "

Apparently in June, Thompson confused Daniel Boone for Davy Crockett on his Web site.

That's what happens when you don't read the newpaper or watch the news. He would also need to be surrounding himself with people equally out of it. On the other hand he would be following in Bush's footsteps.

Well Fred doesn't seem to know much about anything he didn't know drilling in the Everglades was a hot button in Florida and now this. Maybe he is more like Bush than we thought apparently he doesn't read newspapers or watch news on television either. Is everybody ready for another ten years of "stay the course" and Iraq expense nearing a trillion?

I was at the fundraiser. Thompson wasn't saying he is related to Davy Crockett. The analogy was a Tennessean coming to Texas. Ancestor meant Tennessean more broadly.

Fred Thompson's "aw shucks" demeanor reminds voters of what they used to like about George Bush. However, this little episode reminds voters of exactly what they don't like about him: ignorance and incompetence. Does Fred Thompson not read the newspaper or watch the news on television?

If Thompson doesn't know what's going on in America, how can he claim to know what's going on elsewhere in the world? It seems that he is a fraud, but will conservatives penalize him?

Look for Newt Gingrich to end this nonsense and jump into the race.
