Brick layers endorse Clinton

The 100,000-member Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers (BAC) endorsed Clinton today, the campaign announced.

“Hillary Clinton has the strength and experience to deliver the change America needs,” said BAC President John J. Flynn in a statement released by the campaign. “After years of an administration that has turned its back on working families, we need a President whose priorities are our priorities. …she’s worked hard for BAC members and we intend to work hard for her election.”

Per the AP, here’s the breakdown of the labor endorsements this cycle:
CLINTON: United Transportation Union (Aug. 2007); International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (Aug. 2007); Transportation Communication Union (Sept. 2007); National Association of Letter Carriers (Sept. 2007); International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers (Sept. 2007)

EDWARDS: United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners. (Aug. 2007); United Steelworkers of America (Sept. 2007); United Mine Workers of America (Sept. 2007); Transport Workers Union (Sept. 2007)

DODD: International Association of Fire Fighters (Aug. 2007)

Anybody who voted for George Bush has no right to criticise Hillary or any other candidate for that matter. Every candidate on both the Democratic and Republican side would be an improvement over our sitting President. Hillary Clinton is miles above Bush and has already demonstrated a better command of the issues in this early part of the campaign than Bush has during his whole tenure as President.

Do these unions even look at her voting record? Although I guess brick layers haven't had their jobs shipped off due to NAFTA, and all the other trade agreements she has voted in favor of in the Senate. The only trade agreement Clinton voted against in the Senate was CAFTA , that treaty must have really sucked, given she voted with the GOP, and was one of a handful of Democratic Senators to vote in favor of every other trade agreement.

Hillary Clinton has postured herslef to be President of the United States since her role as First Lady. She tried to run the country through "Bill" but a Republican controlled Congress wouldn't allow it. She sought and won election as a Representative from New York (of all places)a place that in my opinion didn't question her morals. She used it as a spring board for the Presidency.
But, I will be kind to her, and acknowledge that she hasn't done anything that most elected officials haven't done. She's made a living off of politics and has ambtions to further her claims to the American Taxpayers purse-strings.
None of the current candidates are worthy of the position of President of the United States, Republican and Democrat.

Elected officials should serve for the good of the Nation and not the notoriety they receive, nor the income.

After voting nearly straightline conservative Republican for nearly the entirety of my younger years and then reaping what I've sown, Hillary is looking more and more like a viable candidate to me. I've learned painful lessons the hard way. Even if she weren't the most qualified, even if she doesn't share all of my social or political views, one thing I know for certain; the country needs a drastic change. The real problem with both Clintons is that they lack completely a sense of decency. Where I live they would be said to "have no brought-upsy". The presidency is about far more than managing the country, it is also about providing a compelling model for American youth to emulate, and presenting a credible image of quality for foreign observers. She went to law school for crying out loud, the ability to act and manipulate people is practically an intro course. Hillary is a party politician, she has absolutely no intention of "rocking the boat". Unfortunately for Senator Clinton, this boat is in dire need of a "Barack-ing". Indeed, it is Barack Obama who knows firsthand what it is like to experience crushing adversity, and to rise above social AND economic limitations. This group made a significant mistake in endorsing Hillary Clinton for President. They still have time to get it together and come to a more logical and responsible consensus.

In 2000, BAC endorsed Al Gore. However, much of the membership voted for Bush because of one single issue: the right to keep and bear arms.

While union leaders will endorse labor-friendly candidates, that is no guarantee that union members will necessarily vote in lockstep when the candidate's other policies run against what they can endure.

Jerry Pecks - Barack Obama is also a lawyer; graduated Harvard Law University, so basically the same thing can be said for him. He will do and say anything to further his political ambitions. It’s called politics and can actually be said for every candidate running for the presidency. Barack Obama did not grow up poor, by any means, and in fact was well educated, so what social and economic limitations would you be speaking of. Hillary has risen above adversity on many occasions, as well as John Edwards. If you are going to bash one candidate to promote your candidate, at least come up with something noteworthy about him to further your cause.
