Rudy's latest cell phone spin

Posted: Friday, September 28, 2007 12:27 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Chuck Todd and Domenico Montanaro
Check out Giuliani's latest spin on the phone call with his wife per an interview with CBN’s Brody:

Brody: Do you care to clear that up?

Giuliani: "Sure. My wife calls me when she gets on a plane. We’d just gotten back from England, hadn’t had much sleep. I knew she was going to take a plane, but I didn’t know which one she was going to take back to New York, and quite honestly since Sept. 11 most of the time when we get on a plane we talk to each other and just reaffirm the fact that we love each other. Sometimes if I’m in the middle of a very, very sensitive meeting, I don’t take the call right then I wait. But I thought it would be kind of nice if I took it at that point, and I’d done that before in engagements, and I didn’t realize it would create any kind of controversy, I would be insulted by it?? I’d done it, usually when I do it I put her on the phone and I have her say hello, but she was rushing to get on the airplane at the time, so I started to put her on the phone, but then I realized she was trying to get on the plane. I think she was at Regan Airport, and she was trying to get to her plane, so I gave her regards. I’d  probably don that a half a dozen times before.

"But you know, look, sometimes your opponents kind of push these things sometimes other people kind of push these things -- every little thing is analyzed differently. Did I do this on purpose? Was this a tactic? Was I doing it to try to get the family values vote? Was I trying to distract from some position on -- it was quite an honest act.

"I think people will find with me that that’s, I’m a spontaneous person, which leads to sometimes making a mistake, but I think it’s better. I came to that conclusion when I was the mayor of New York City. Why the heck to I want to fool people? This is who I am. This is what I’m about. I found that when I had to deal with crisis it was a great strength that they knew who I really was -- the good parts and the bad parts.

"And that it wasn’t the same -- there wasn’t like a different person before this interview with you David. It’s the same -- you know me. We talked to each other. I talk to you the same way before we had this interview as we do, while we’re having it and afterwards. There isn’t like two or three different people.

"It’s me. I’m spontaneous. People get to evaluate that. If they’re insulted by it it’s not meant that way. If I do something wrong I try to correct it, but basically I’m going to try to be able to be myself. I think, gosh with the pressures that you have being mayor of New York or President of the United States -- you better know who the heck you are, or you shouldn’t be running for this job.

There goes that 9/11 spin again.
9/11
Another shameless 9/11 Plug.
Isn't there anything more substantive that we can discuss these days? I mean, seriously, who really cares whether the call was genuine or phony politics? Instead let's use our time to discuss the war, climate change, health care, or the insolvency of social security. Stop creating mini-scandals that have little or no relevance to anything.
Does Rudy G. ask rhetorical questions?  Is Rudy G. really spontaneous?  Can Rudy G. be trusted?  Does he expect us to swallow his story, now that he's been caught (See Larry Craig)?  Can Rudy G. offer a quote that doesn't use the phrase 9/11 or Sept. 11 (see above)?  Does Rudy G. respond to his own rhetorical questions?

Yes, No, No, Yes, No and Yes!
Tootsie makes a mockery out of 9/11 one more time.  Surprise surprise.  What a shill he is.  He is going to rot for the way that he has used the tragedy that was 9/11 for his own gain.
Could we please let this silly stunt fade into oblivion once and for all.  Why does it continue to be newsworthy?
On hold
Big lying greaseball, thaaaaats Rudy!
Anyone who knows who the heck he is should have been able to answer that question in a single paragraph. Gosh, I'm convinced it wasn't a stunt! And some want this clown in charge of U.S. nuclear forces?
Time for Giuliani start getting seriously rapped .... I am talking about experiencing some political pain ... for abusing 9/11.   He is abusing 9/11 and all of its victims each time he uses 9/11 for his own petty gain.

When are more people calling to call him on this issue?
Can we, for the love of G-d, quit with the all day, every hour, every minute, every second reference to 9/11?  It is a disgrace to whore the sanctity of this terrible event to forward your warped sense of political one-ups-man-ship.....ENOUGH
I wonder if Rudy has a bookie named Judith.
I am confused...
It's not just shameless, but so stupid.  But to Gary from WI, I can only reply to the question "and some want this clown in charge of nuclear forces?" with, well......yea, the same low IQ's who voted for Dubya twice. It is a scary world we live in.
Obviously he made those comments so goofs like the ones above would make uneducated comments.  Thanks especially to the grease ball in St. Louis.  You all help to reinforce the Republican’s stereotype of a Liberal.
Wow.  He never neglects any opportunity, however manufactured, to mention 9/11.  When Rudy is president, EVERY day will be 9/11.  Won't that be just ducky?
Rudy the Rat uses 9/11 just like bush.
Some great synonyms for spontaneous are IMPULSIVE, SPUR-of-the-MOMENT, UNSTRUCTURED, UNPLANNED.  Rudy admits to being a spontaneous (impulsive) person, which can sometimes lead to making a mistake!  Let's see...Hmmm...who does that remind me of - OH YEAH - Bush & Cheney must share that same trait...and the mistake was the WAR IN IRAQ!!!  What a stupid thing for Rudy to say…must have been spontaneous.
Huh?

Does he even know what he is saying?  Really, he doesn't need an interviewer since he can ask the questions, answer them and analyze the answers for the news shows all by himself.
Too bad he didn't treat his first two wives with the same dignity.
But then again he's...................................
"Rappin' Rudy 'G,' The Gigolo of The G.O.P.!"
Another stupid worthless PR stunt. Anyone who cannot see through this garbage needs a psychological exam.
I'm sure glad to hear that Mr. & Mrs Rudy Kazzooiti feel the need to express their love for each other. This is a guy who really knows how to prioritize his important business. Why, I am sure as president we would know the exact health of his bird that was tramatized by the 9/11 news and refuses to sing anymore.
"quite honestly since Sept. 11 most of the time when we get on a plane we talk to each other and just reaffirm the fact that we love each other"
Should someone perhaps remind this guy that while he was busy 'reaffirming', he was married to someone else?
To Kat:

You're right, it is a scary world we live in.  P.S. I don't think Cheney lets Dubya anywhere near the codes for U.S. nuclear forces. In some ways, that senario is even scarier!
The only thing Rudy Julie Anna is spontaneous about is wearing a dress, cheating on his wives, and picking questionable people as business partners.  Using 9-11 as a political positive is second-nature, not spontaneous.
Let's face it people, without September 11th, Rudy would be just another f*@#ing ex-mayor of New York. And you wonder why the rest of America hate New Yorkers. Hey Rudy, can you tell me how to get to the Empire State Building or should I just go f*#@ myself?
If an average person answered a cell phone call in the middle of a job interview, that person certainly would not get the job.  Why should things be different for Giuliani?  And is that an example of good leadership?
When Rudy becomes the new president, all of the previous posters will be rounded up and sent to Guantanamo. Why? Well, ever since 9/11…
Rudy(9/11)Giuliani has only one(9/11)issue to run on(9/11).

Rusy(9/110Giuliani will make sure we never forget 9/11 as long as it scores him some points.
Ok.  it was a stunt to avoid a question.  So answer the Question Mr. Giuliani.  What is your interpretation of the Second Amendment?
I bet Rudy's undies have Little 9/11's all over them!
and when Hillary calls Bill, she wonders if he is at the place he really says he is or is he with his honey of the week?
Rudy, What time is it?... "9:11". Rudy, What road did you take to get here?..."Um..911". Rudy, What age are your kids? "They're 9 and 11". Rudy, what kind of car do you drive? "It's a 911" Rudy, what are your lucky numbers? "Of course, 9 and 11"
Rudy musta been one of those kids whose parents asked him ten times before setting off on a long car trip to go to the bathroom, only to have thier trip interupted 10 minutes after it started with cries of, "I gotta go weee-weeeee!

(Back in those days, he asked to stop at the first 7-11. These days he asks to stop at the first 9-11)
