Paul ‘Revolution’ rally draws 800

Even a half hour after Ron Paul's "Revolution" rally ended in downtown Manchester, there was a crowd larger than other candidates could only hope to draw. The campaign estimated that as many as 800 people showed up as the Texas congressman kicked off a canvassing effort in New Hampshire's three largest cities.

The campaign gave out buttons asking: "Who is Ron Paul?" But who are Ron Paul's supporters? "I think they're new to the process," said Paul's son, Rand Paul. "We definitely have Democrats that are crossing over, Libertarians crossing over, Independents crossing over. And I think the people that come out are definitely gonna vote."

Rand Paul said that every day he's surprised at "how big" his father's campaign has gotten. Last week, they asked supporters to raise $500,000. "They passed that in three days, and now we're asking them to raise a million," Rand Paul said. By Sunday, they had done just that. And Rand Paul said his father might end the third fundraising quarter with more cash on hand than most of the other Republicans. "We may have more money on hand than Romney if you subtract what he's given himself," he said.

Paul rejected a comparison to Howard Dean's Internet fueled 2004 campaign, which fizzled by the time votes were actually cast. "My dad has been going around the country for 30 years, and has a following," Paul said. "It's definitely a committed core. Howard Dean didn't have that cohesive message and a philosophy." What Dean and Paul have in common is their anti-war message. And Paul said his father's stance makes him the Republican with "the best chance of getting independent voters over."

Can you provide his stance on some of the other important issues besides his non-interventionist foreign policy? What does he think about our economy, abortion, health care (I have heard he is an OB/GYN) and the size of our government?
I saw a Dr. R.P. banner this morning on an overpass.  I couldn't figure out as I passed it by, why the letter "L" was backwards.  So, I googled it, and it is the word "LOVE" spelled backwards, but I'm not really sure how that fits with the Ron Paul campaign.  I'm just glad it wasn't graffiti.  This is probably my most meaningless post to date.
Yes, that was a great event for American politics. A quote by Ron Paul regarding the revolution and change really would have made this article great. I believe he said something like change only needs 3-4% of the public to get started.

I think that if Ron Paul could get some real exposure from the Main Stream Media, He could be a real sleeper in the Republican Primaries. He's definitely on a roll.  
I agree that Ron Paul is the most likely candidate to bring over the Democrats and Independents. I know a lot of Paul supporters who were originally for Obama.
Pauul is another old white guy who believes that the government should make the decision for women who are pregnant.
He votes with the republican party more than 90%of the time.
Not bad for a guy who the MSM says "can't win".

Thank goodness for Paul and Kucinich with the four "front runners" Clinton, Obama, Romney, and Giuliani saying that they would NOT be out of Iraq by the end of their terms if these 4 were to win next November. Also with these four Iraq would be off the table in any future debates after the conventions.

Ron Paul raised 1.2 million in one week online, that's half of what he raised last quarter.  The message of peace, freedom, and economic prosperity is spreading.  
Agree.  I have never voted in my life but I will for Ron Paul.  He reminds me of the America I learned about in elementary school but never really experienced.

RON PAUL?  I thought he dropped out of the race.  Or at least he should have.  He's wasting his time and the money of those who support him.  I think he's an ok candidate, but does he (and his supporters) really think Americans are going to vote for him?

Steve in Cleveland, OH... you say Ron is the only one that understands the American economy and that without him, America faces some rough times.  If this is the case, how come Ron hasn't come out with a plan to fix Americas problems.  All I've heard him do is state the obvious, but where are the solutions!

I've been seeing a lot of Ron Paul signs around my town this morning. I didn't have a clue who he was so I am checking the internet and came across this article. I've been a Republican for 20+ years but I stopped voting because the party just seemed like it always brought us bigger government, more taxes and programs and had little difference from the left. I hate that we are in an expensive and deadly war that has no clearly defined goal or end in sight. Yet I sense from the news that they will expand this war into Iran! I couldn't believe that even the democrats won't end the war and I feel like I need to find another option.

Ron Paul sounds like a good candidate so far, but I'm wondering about his positions on domestic issues. Thanks to the other comments which gave some links  - I'll check those out. I won't be voting for anyone unless I can find a candidate that will lower taxes for regular working people and have a plan to bring stability to the dollar. I'm worried the government is getting authoritarian over security after 9/11 and all the candidates I see on TV seem like they will just make matters worse. If this guy can do just those things I mentioned above he's got my vote for sure!

Ron Paul is the only Hope for America.  As his friend, Ronald Reagan said, "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it was once like in the United States where men were free."

While the current rulers wring their hands over the treatment of protestors in Myanmar, there are hundreds of videos online of similar treatment here! The "police" are to be revered and feared and dissent is not tolerated.  WE ARE a totalitarian society, but the majority of happy idiots don't know it!

Good article, Chuck and Dom.  Please keep up the coverage of ALL the candidates, not just the 2 or 3 that some news services have dubbed "top-tier."  We have over a year until the 2008 election, and your audience needs to hear from a variety of candidates.  This is an important election and it has to come down to more than the same focus-group tested suits (and blouses) spouting the same mindless garbage.  thanks for the good article.

Ron Paul's whole family was there, even his newest born grandchild just a few months old. I'd say there were 27 of them who went out canvassing.

The article is exactly right -- the reason Ron Paul has a such a dedicated following is that he represents a real philosphy of government.  Every other candidate has a laundry list of "issues" and to-do's, but they are not  bound by a cohevise philosophy.  It is usually all about appeasement, compromise, and comtradiction.  But with Ron Paul, there is real commitment, real integrity, and real consistency.  He is the most intelligent and rational person running for President.

Ron Paul has stood for the same principles for DECADES. He has NEVER waivered in his convictions. I can believe him when he speaks- something I cannot do with the other candidates.

Not only does he represent the constitution but he has actually written books on economics and foreign policy. He is vastly intelligent and truly qualified to be the great President we so desperately need.

Can Ron Paul, a devoted Libertarian, guarantee that he won't come after Social Security and Medicare after he's elected??  The demise of social/federal benefits could be high on his list of 'undeclared' positions - apparently everyone is so excited with his stand on Iraq and 'small' government they forget to inquire as to his full future agenda as a Libertarian.  Let's get all the answers before jumping on the bandwagon.

PS.  If he doesn't declare himself on social benefits he will never make it out of the starting gate.....this is too big an issue to ignore forever.
