Ron Paul exceeds Q2 numbers

Posted: Monday, October 01, 2007 6:37 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC’s Carrie Dann
Dark-horse Republican candidate Ron Paul will report third quarter fundraising totals that exceed his $2.4 million take in Q2. According to communications director Jesse Benton, Paul raised $1.2 million alone in the last week during a down-to-the-wire online fundraising drive. The announcement comes after last week's New Hampshire trip for Rep. Paul, which included a rally attended by about 800 people and a major canvassing drive in the Granite State. The Ron Paul campaign expects to report its final third-quarter numbers later this week.

So this suggests that among Republicans, Paul is at least fifth in fundraising this quarter, and at least third in cash on hand.  That's unless Huckabee beats him on one of those numbers, of course, but that really seems unlikely at this point; it appears Paul may emerge from this quarter at the top of the GOP's second tier, against all the predictions and mocking dismissals of the pundits.
As humble as my donation was, I am glad to have contributed in some small way to Dr. Paul's campaign.
Long live the Constitution!
Thanks for this good report!

Dr. Paul's campaign is maintaining a growing war chest because of frugal spending and a vast and growing army of enthusiastic volunteers. Because of this, a million dollars in his coffers are probably worth ten million in the hands of other less popular candidates!
Ron Paul, a protege of the Founding Fathers. RESTORE THE REPUBLIC!
Holy crap Batman...not one but two RP storys from MSNBC in one day!!! Now if they would only stop starting with "Dark horse" candidate....
Ron Paul raised over $1.2 million in one week, none of it from coporate lobbyists and the vast majority from small donations from average Americans. This for a candidate that is only polling in the small numbers so far, but gaining rapidly, and with a rising tide of grass root supporters in spite of the media blackout on covering him. When Paul hits 10 - 20% in  public awareness of his stands on the issues and name recognition hold on tight, things are going to take off.
If Americans don’t wake up their will be nothing left, our Nation is broke and Wall Street is the only people making a profit. While the Hidden inflation tax continues to rise and the value of the dollar declines. Ron Paul is the only one who truely understands this, and honestly if he is not elected America should be prepared for a real economic depression like it has never seen before.

Unless you want a North American Union and a new currency the "Amero" split with Canada and Mexico. And lose all your rights and freedom. Vote For Ron Paul 2008!

So my advice is to bypass the media and spread the word to your family and friends about him. The power of the People is far greater than a campaign spending 10's of million to buy an image. Because this man is a real American Hero. He has dedicated his life to this country and everyone in it, and now he is trying to save it from disaster.

Spread The Word! Go Ron Paul 2008!

Dear MSNBC,

Thank you.  All we is ask is that you report the facts about our candidate.  We don't need opinions and sly comments like the other guys do.

Your's Truly,

Ron Paul Supporter
That's all money from ordinary folks like myself as well. No special interest money as Ron Paul can't be bought. I had never donated to a presidential campaign before Congressman Paul's. I can't wait to find out the totals.
Dark horse? You guys are obviously clueless if that is what you believe to be the truth. Much like all the other mainstream media u guys shut him out and say he's at the bottom of pile when in fact he is not. Typical two faced  media outlets. First real article i have read from this site and i did actually believe msnbc to be non bias somewhat.
OK - Here is my prediction - 6.5 million.
That is based on the numerous fundraising efforts we have been able to participate in over the last month. The Birthday Present drive (Aug 20th) -  $150,000, the Meetup Drive (early Sept)- $300,000, 2 Fill the Quill drives (mid Sept) - $200,000, and finally the end of quarter boost (late Sept) - 1,200,000.... then there was the Texas GOP Straw Poll Fundraiser, $105,000, West Coast Fundraising drive, $500,000... Those by themselves total about $3,000,000.
I think it is safe to say that besides those events Paul could have raised another 3 million during the early parts of the third quarter... Of course, the Ron Paul store could have raised a million.

I have only been a supporter since the end of July but I have seen great things since then.

And please don't forget that there are almost 50,000 volunteers who have contributed time and money outside of the official campaign.

Take notice America, there is a revolution going on and this one doesnt require a gun!
Rock n Roll Ron Paul !!!!!
FINALLY SOME MAINSTREAM MEDIA ATTENTION

Ron Paul is the candidate of the people. His views are in line with those of the AMERICAN PUBLIC. He is one of the only presidential candidates to firmly stand against the Iraq War. Now current polls rank around 70% of the public are against it.

Presidential approval ratings are around 28%.

Congressional approval ratings are around 15%.

It's time for change.

VOTE RON PAUL 2008.
That's funny, Chuck Todd and Marc Ambinder said on their rankings list last week that Ron Paul's campaign has "no purpose," moved him from 6th to 7th (after Sam Brownback!) and stated that Paul should drop out of the race.

Are Todd and Ambinder MSM bought and sold shills, or do they just not know much about politics?
Ron Paul's message of freedom (as contained in the limited government of the Constitution) is wild fire across the land right now.  Look for the anointed to open up their guns on Paul and his liberty-drive.

For a Revolution without Blood, join the freedom team behind Ron Paul.
I hope he hits $4 million, that would be quite an accomplishment considering he has almost zero exposure on TV by the establishment media.

It's good to hear that his Internet presence is turning into real world numbers with the big donation drive last week. Great job.
Ron Paul = hope for America...
Hopefully Paul's campaign figures will show that he needs to be taken seriously by the mainstream media, and that he's not, as some might say, an extremist candidate. My prediction for total funds raised is about 4.5-5 mil- sounds fairly reasonable to me.

Viva Ron Paul!
Yea! Glad to hear Dr. Paul is doing well and people are receptive to the freemon message.
wow I'm suprised someone took notice of the best possible canidate for president EVER. Wisen up neo cons, it's either him or it's president Hilary. No other candidate cuts accross party lines and unites people like Paul. Once you catch the freedom feever there is no going back.

Join the Revolution!!

Go Ron Paul!
Thank you very much for being fair and unbiased reporting about Ron Paul. He just won another GOP Straw Poll in NJ with 73%.
Thanks for this article, because if you watched CNN today you would never even know Ron Paul existed.  Blitzer's segment mentioned practically EVERYBODY else but Paul in their recap of the quarterly earnings of both Republicans & Democrats.  They've now sunk to the level of Faux News.
He's catching on...thats for sure! RON PAUL 2008
If you look at the percentage of his campaign contributions, you'll notice almost all them have came from individuals instead of PACs (political action committees). With the other candidates, specifically the "top-tier" ones, it is the exact reverse. This means the people believe in Ron Paul by donating their hard-earned money. With other candidates, people are attempting to invest in their candidates through special interest groups.
There is a great hope for the United States of America when a defender of the Constitution can make a difference.
Don't bother to say he can never win. Were the Thirteen Colonies supposed to win? No, they were not. Much like the revolutionaries of our forefathers, Ron Paul has a dedicated group of supporters. They are not as few as it would seem. I saw 220 supporters gathered in the Council Bluffs--the room was at maximum, full. Can the number of energetic supporters who congregate for Ron Paul bring him the attention he needs?
It has. Just like the Revolutionaries, Ron Paul's passion and that of his supports has brought others to his issues. It will bring more in the future. The report of Canvassing nearly assures it. Freedom is popular, so is true conservatism. Many of the bright political science crowd might very well flock to someone like Ron Paul, and they are the ones who will be doing the organizing and canvassing.
I'm very comforted for the fact that I am able to accept Ron Paul's pro-life stance in consideration for a mutual indebtedness to our Ancestors and their Constitution that we both share. I'm comforted because it reveals the health of our belief in the Declaration of Independence and gratitude not to wealth, but individual, inalienable rights. I know that we all care about these things and that will not change during an election year.
Ron Paul is REAL !!!  I have given him $25 on four occasions, organized a RonPaulmeetup group and bought $250 worth of signs and shirts.  Ron Paul loves me and he loves you too.  Show him you love what he is trying to do for you and our country !
Here we go everyone... the message of freedom is about to take center stage over the next quarter.
Ron Paul may be a dark horse for now, at least in the minds of some people, but he is climbing fast and drawing a passionate following from every demographic group.  As a 62-year-old man who votes independent, Dr. Paul has my wholehearted support.  He is the first person to whom I have ever sent a campaign contribution because I consider him to be the most principled man in American politics. For the first time in my life, when it comes to voting in a presidential primary, I won't be voting for the lesser of two evils, but for a man I genuinely trust and believe in.
I spammed a one-dollar bill to Ron Paul's campaign over 3.5 million times this last quarter. I also am responsible for his internet polls. Yep, I'm the guy.
Sweet! Maybe there will be more wonderful articles like this one pointing out his success. Kudos to MSNBC, I was really hoping that you would cover the deplorable excuse for journalism seen at the N.H. debate last month, however this is quite nice on it's own.
Never donated to any candidate before. I DID THIS TIME AND TWICE!! If you mainstream  people want to know why myself and thousands of other people are donating their time and money to the "anomaly" Ron Paul. It's simple he listens to the people of the united states. We want REAL FREEDOM, REAL RIGHTS, NO IRS, NO FEDERAL RESERVE, NO MORE SURVEILLANCE STATE, AND NO MORE WAR!! Sorry for the caps lock. I very passionate of my candidate.
We here in Yale-New Haven understand the intrinsic value of Ron Paul's campaign, which is why so many academicians laud his retro-conservative ethos.

Amongst economists, political scientists and investment bankers, Ron Paul is perceived as the guiding light to restoring economic integrity to America.

This is excellent news.
HELL YEAH! Go ron paul! mainstream media, TAKE NOTICE.
Can't wait!

For people who wish to vote for Paul, make sure to change to Republican to vote for him in the primary!

Go Ron Paul. Save us from the Welfare/Warfare State!!!
I want to see the number of donations Ron Paul got most I saw were small.  $10 = 1 vote  $2000 = 1 vote.
Dr. Paul achieved this success because of spammers like me. We spammed his coffers and we are also spamming in person when we rally for him. You're slowly catching on, aren't you?
This is fantastic news!!! Our movement is like a snowball coming down a mountain. It just keeps getting bigger and bigger and one can't help but get swept up by it. Thanks MSNBC for posting positive news about this great statesman.

"Freedom is popular" - Ron Paul

Ron Paul rEVOLution 2008!
I cant wait for the exact numbers! Every generation needs a new revolution.

All aboard the freedom train! choo choo!
This is good news for Dr. Ron Paul supporters!  I hope it brings some attention from MSNBC likes of Hardball or Tucker..

I think there is a message in these numbers.. and that is THERE ARE Ron Paul supporters... and THEY DON'T ALL LIVE IN TRAILERS..  but come from all walks of life
Let's start seeing some media coverage that acknowledges the momentum of his grassroots campaign, first of all.  And then let's start seeing him featured in debates and forums.

Ron Paul is a first tier candidate.  He has arrived!
According to MSNBC Ron Paul has exceeded his 2nd Quarter Fundraising numbers. The Van Der Galiën Gazette is predicting that Ron Paul will have a 3Q total of appx. $3 million.
Now, I’m not that good at math, but didn’t Dr. Paul
As Ron Paul rises in popularity and his fund raising improves, the main stream media will start noticing him more.  With rallies that bring in 800 or more people to listen to what he has to say combined with some media attention, Ron Paul will have a real chance for the White House.
Wake up America! Ron Paul is what a truly great US President looks like.
RUN  PAUL    RUN
Interesting. Seems as though Ron Paul will likely be #2 in 'cash-on-hand minus debts' of the republican canidates and is the ONLY canidate from EITHER party to raise more in the Q3 than Q2.

Clinton? NOPE %65 of Q2.
Giuliani? NOPE %60 of Q2.
Obama or Romney? NOPE %60 of Q2.
Edwards or Richards? NOPE %75 of Q2.
McCain? NO WAY <%50 of Q2.
Thompson? FLOUNDERING <$8m with lots of spending.
Huckabee? MAYBE, DOUBT IT but he only had $765,873 Q2 and he's broke.
Other's? LOL

I looking forward seeing to the television news coverage of these facts on MSNBC and NBC. Imagine how much coverage ANY of the 'top-tier' (whatever that is) labeled canidates would get if one of them had this accomplishment.

Think they will give Ron Paul the same coverage? NOPE.
BUSH SUCKS.
Ron Paul's stated goal in his interview with George Stephanopolus was, "imagine if we quadrupled our earnings again" in reference to raising 600,000 in Q1, 2.4 million in Q2. Given that, I'm going to say that Ron Paul soared past Fred Thompson, Bill Richardson, John Edwards, and raised 10 million.
The Ron Paul Camp was claiming that they were breaking last quarter's revenue by a healthy margin before the fundraising drive.  They had some really healthy big money events out in California, the ultra rich silicone Valley loves Ron Paul, so do the techies up in Washington.  I think that the Ron Paul campaign is trying to keep expectations low so when they come out and say that they have raised $5-7 million dollars then there is going to be a relly big "Wow" factor and hopefully the MSM will be forced to take notice.

Anyhow, even if it is only $3 million, we all need to keep on giving because if we don't do it, no one will.
