Ron Paul raises $5 million!

Posted: Wednesday, October 03, 2007 1:02 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro

First Read has learned that Ron Paul has raised more than $5 million: $5,080,000 to be exact. They don't have the total number or donors just yet or the exact average donation, but the campaign tells First Read that "last quarter was a $40 average donation; that trend appears to have continued."

***UPDATE*** Paul's cash on hand figure is $5.3 million, according to the campaign.

I've never voted for a major party candidate nor have I donated to any political campaign... until now.  There are many people like me who aren't considered "likely" voters, are never polled by MSM, and who are longing for a principled candidate.  Go Dr. Paul!
Having been born in Houston, Texas, on of the first politicians I ever heard of was Dr. Ron Paul.  It was a sad day when I realized that he was among the exceptions and not the norm for those that would represent us.  People need to hear the message of the US Constitution.  That becomes even more apparent given the amount of flack that someone has taken who has consistently stood up for this document throughout his service to America.

Make your mind up for yourself, go to his official website, www.ronpaul2008.com and make your mind up for yourself.
Take that, you naysayers!
This is for real. 5 million, all on small donations, no corporate money, no lobbyists money. 100% grassroots. Thank to all Ron Paul supporters for making this possible, but don't forget to keep the donations coming. A free America is at stake.
Go Dr. Paul!

Someone is either removing negative comments or MSNBC is censoring them because people keep referring to negative comment makers and the references aren't anywhere to be found...hmm.
Ron Paul's long track record of honesty, integrity and abiding by the Constitution are completely alien concepts to the Beltway insiders in both major parties.

Did you know that Dr. Paul refuses to collect a fat six-figure Congressional pension even though he is eligible to take the money?  That's the kind o man we need as president.
Well at lest we now know who the neo con Nazi sympathizers are
Who want to destroy our constitution and our country by the negativities?

114% over last quarter!  No other candidate even comes close.  You might not agree with every one of his positions but you have to admit that he is consistent in his positions.  He doesn't flip flop and pander to voters. What you see is what you get and I kind of like that.
I made a negative comment and it did not contain profanity and was not posted. Something is going on.
Ron's fundraising results shouldn't be surprising at all. Ron represents one of the longstanding conservative traditions of the GOP (lower taxes, less government, Constitution, civil liberties, non-interventionism) and is not facing any competition for supporters of that tradition. Meanwhile, the currently ascendant big government conservatism (sometimes called 'neoconservative') has its supporters dividing their dollars among several candidates.
Ron Paul's campaign is electric. He is fueled from the roots, and although both parties and the press can be bought for chump change by the clique that controls the US, they can't buy Joe on main street who has an internet connection and is smart enough to google around and find the truth. The main stream media, radio included, and the top tier of both parties is not enough to lock Ron Paul out. It may be enough to stop him, but we will see, and I will hope Ron Paul can go all the way.
Congratulations to Dr. Paul and hopefully he can double his fundraising this quarter as well. All Paul followers should now prepare for the mainstream media hit pieces on the good doctor. MSNBC's affiliate National Journal will probably lower his place (based on their past fuzzy logic) in their candidate ranking system. Chuck Todd will probably call on his all star crew of "reporters" to deliver the most inconsequential and biased story they can muster. Perhaps lastest news on Mitt Romney's preference in mouthwash is in order.

Provided the amount raised is correct and supposing the average donation is $40, we seem to be looking at well over 100,000 individual donors.

The following article may be informative to all the self-proclaimed conservatives questioning Ron Paul's conservative credentials. http://truthalert.net/The%20Poison%20Pen.htm
go RON GO!!!!
Got integrity?

Q: What do all the American Presidents, Congressmen, Senators and other Federal employees have in common?

A: They swore an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution.

Q: How many Presidents, Congressmen, Senators and other Federal employees can you name who actually uphold and defend the Constitution?

A: I can only name one - Ron Paul. If a piece of proposed legislation violates the Constitution, he votes against it. He has more honor and integrity than all the other Congressmen and Senators put together.

All the other 2008 Presidential candidates are sock puppets for the oligarchy.

freedomjoyadventure.blogspot.com
I seriously believe that if we elect another candidate who spats out all the popular platitudes and then panders to power and money, this country cannot survive. We must elect someone who loves this country more than they love power and money. Go Ron Paul!
All of these spammers comments are being posted. Where are the comments that they are referring to posted? MSNBC you are allowing all of these spammers on your site but yet not posting others remarks.

Ron Paul Will Win if we can stop them from rigging the elections
Like they have already started to do by trying to movie up the vote to January
Making it harder for our troops to vote so if you know any service men and women
Get a hold of them and tell them to get there absentee ballets in the mail
Now. They know that our troops support Ron Paul and they are trying to stop them
From voting
Let's double the amount rece'd next quarter too!  $10M + is very possible.
Maybe there are plenty of people who are sick and tired of all the big government republicans and big government democrats.  Maybe there are plenty of people who don't agree with the pro-war goon candidates who want to kill and control innocents in Iraq in order to keep the $US empire afloat.

Go Ron Paul!
There goes those RP spammers again. Must be dialing a dollar five million eighty thousand time.

Way to go, Ron Paul.
I know I will get nailed for this comment but let's be crazy this election.

Ron Paul is coming across as someone with actual common sense which usually does not go with being a politician.

I like Obama since he his education in constitutional law back to the streets of Chicago to work with people, not corporations.

Want to be crazy

Paul / Obama 08.  I think these two people can actually compromise on issues to benefit America.
The GOP Plot to Defeat Ron Paul

http://www.freemarketnews.com/WorldNews.asp?nid=49739&fb=1

It is not enough that seemingly every state that can is desperately moving up primary contest dates to as close to January 1, 2008 as possible in the hopes of derailing the momentum that presidential candidate Ron Paul (R-Tex) will derive from a good New Hampshire finish. Now the GOP in many states has apparently taken to shutting down the possibility that Independents or Democrats can vote for Ron Paul in the GOP primary.

Such contests, inviting a broad electoral spectrum, have taken place in the past without controversy or interference.

Why now? What is the hurry? Is it all coincidence?

Funny how the "Big Tent" goes bananas when someone tries something different than the current status quo, even if it is EXACTLY what a republican SHOULD be.

Ronald Reagan would vote for Ron Paul.
A recent Gallup poll finds Paul at the head of the so-called second-tier candidates (i.e., the candidates the establishment hasn’t anointed). Yet a point was recently made that at this stage in the election cycle, national polls reflect only name recognition, not respondents’ assessments of the candidates. Consider the past:

- In early 1975, Jimmy Carter was polling at 1% (he went on to win the presidency).
- In early 1987, Michael Dukakis was polling at 1% (he went on to win the Democratic nomination).
- In early 1991, Bill Clinton was at 2% (he went on to win the presidency).
- In the spring of 1999, John McCain was polling at 3% (he went on to win the New Hampshire primary).
- In early 2003, Joe Lieberman was leading the field for the Democratic presidential nomination (he failed to win any primary).

As of September 2007
- Ron Paul has more financial support from the Military than *ANY* other candidate. (Our troops hate Iraq and want to come home, Ron is the only one that can do that)
- According to the polls, Ron Paul has won almost every Republican Debate (Including the Fox debate)
- Ron Paul is by far the most popular candidate on the Internet.

The Media and the GOP are SUPRESSING THE TRUTH which is easy to see on: Youtube, Facebook, Google, Google news, Meetup, Reddit, MySpace, Digg you name it, Web 2.0 says Ron Paul is #1.

DON'T BE AN MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX AND RUPERT MURDOCH ROBOT, GET OUT THERE ARE GET BEHIND THE ONLY POPULIST LIBERTARIAN CONSTITUTIONALIST CANDIDATE, RON PAUL. His campaign money ONLY comes from THE PEOPLE, not Hillary's wihch comes from huge insurance and medical oligarchs and lobbyists, and the Authoritarian Statist non-Constitutionalist Rudy, Mitt, Fred, etc, this comes from the military industrial complex.

Stop being a pawn, and lash out against the oppressive media-military-industrial-government regime!

They use polling to disenfranchise voters, American want a football game and they want to pick a winner. Carter and Clinton prove the people can make this media coup ineffective!

The reason that Ron Paul is running under GOP is 3rd parties in the country get screwed at the ballot box, I voted libertarian in California and had to vote in Spanish because the poll officials had no libertarian ballots in ENGLISH!

Ron Paul is a constitutionalist.
Ron has never voted to raise taxes.
Ron has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
Ron has never voted for the Iraq War.
Ron has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
Ron has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.
Ron has never voted to raise congressional pay.
Ron has never taken a government-paid junket.
Ron voted against the Patriot Act.
Ron votes against regulating the Internet.
Ron voted against NAFTA and CAFTA.
Ron votes against the United Nations.
Ron votes against the welfare state.
Ron votes against reinstating a military draft.
GO Ron Paul GO!!!
Mr IntheMiddle sounds suspiciously like everyone's favorite Paul hater, Eric Dondero.

If you aren't Dondero, go find him.  The two of you can beat up straw men together.
Paul / Obama 08

I don't think Paul will be picking a CFR nuthugger as his running mate.
This is only

the beginning

Ron Paul supporters must be smarter than all other supporters.  They find ways to hack all internet polls.

Give me a break.

Ron Paul is the most popular candidate when it comes to online users.
This $5 million is just spam-- Right guys? :)

Every neo-con, who-- by the non-virtue of being a neo-con automatically hate peace and freedom-- has been saying Ron Paul's people are spammers and he has no real support. It's no suprise that their view has nothing to do with reality.

The poll numbers are wrong.  Report on why they're wrong. MSNBC should give more coverage to Ron Paul. It makes you guys look more credible.
I LOVE RON PAUL !!!!!!!!! FORGET THE OTHERS!!!

A REAL PRESIDENT WITH A HEARTBEAT FOR THE NATION. A TRUE AMERICAN PATRIOT.

NOT ONE OF THE OTHER'S CAN COMPARE TO RON PAUL. GO TO www.RONPAUL2008.com AND COME AND SEE WHY THIS MAN IS SO ADORED BY MILLIONS HERE AND AROUND THE WORLD.

There's a lot of money in counterfeit Viagra and penny stock tips! Those spammers are loaded!

If you saw on Drudge today, the left and right are talking about secession because of the growing tyranny from Washington, DC. Ron Paul is the antidote!
I'm tired of the lobbyists in control of our government.  Ron Paul looks them in the eye and laughs.  Vote Ron Paul.
I LOVE RON PAUL !!!!!!!!! FORGET THE OTHERS!!!

ron paul... did you look at his voting record. He's against women getting to decide about their own bodies.
he's pro corporation over small buisness.
he's pro oil
he's another gopee-er in a gray suit.

How are elections decided anymore? Is it who raises the most money?
Purple One (Sent Wednesday, October 03, 2007 1:15 PM)
------
Elections are decide by who spends the most money.
Pat who hates jerry -- oops I didn't scroll far enough. Make that 4 times you've posted the same joke.
Ron Paul has no chance because he's not a CFR sellout globalist who panders to whomever lines his pockets and greases his palms.  He has no chance because he does not give lip service to the military industrial complex by talking tough about the pseudo-boogey men who are poised to 'get us' any moment.  He has no chance because no matter how much money he raises or how little the media respects him, he isn't Fred, McCain, Rudy, or Mitt.  He has no chance because we have had rigged elections for a LONG time.
He has no chance because it's just 'spammers' who support him.

We are up against a lot, make some sacrifices in your personal life to get a real man in the white house, a man of priciple, a man of honor, a man that is willing to defend the constitution as opposed to see it as a stumbling block and take the Lord's name in vain when referring to it.
IntheMiddle, Texas / 'All of these spammers comments are being posted. Where are the comments that they are referring to posted? MSNBC you are allowing all of these spammers on your site but yet not posting others remarks.'

chief get a grip, I personally support edwards, but ron paul would be an alternative if hillary gets nominated

I believe you sir are the spammer here,

If you look at mr. pauls history there is very little negative
You people are all nuts - a Libertarian has never made it to first base in any election that I know of -
his parsed message hides the fact that he's anti-Social Security and anti-Medicare, just for starters.

His idea of good government - tiny, ineffective and non-interfering but helpful to the rich and above-all isolationist - went out of style about 100 years ago and is not remotely feasible today.  Republicans are similar only in the 'helpful to the rich' part...must be why he's running as a republican (and you Paul supporters think that's being totally honest and genuine??).

Wow, the desperation for a candidate is growing like a boil on the body politic.......
All you Hillary and obamba voters better wake up they support attacking Iran and wasting another trillion of our dollars as they collaspe the dollar. We are losing our country people vote Ron Paul and restore the constitution back in government. Check your state
immeaditly for voting in the primaries. They are moving them up to stop the people from taking their government back from the b@#%ards on the hill
Ron Paul 2008

Revolution!!!!
Desperate / at least you have the correct tag line "desperate"

no conspiracy here, since you think there should be some negative posts here, make one
T-Rex spews forth / His idea of good government - tiny, ineffective and non-interfering but helpful to the rich and above-all isolationist - went out of style about 100 years ago and is not remotely feasible today.  Republicans are similar only in the 'helpful to the rich' part...must be why he's running as a republican (and you Paul supporters think that's being totally honest and genuine??)."

his long political history says otherwise,
your description of mr. paul is erroneous and typical of the clinton smear campaign

mr. paul has no history of being an isolationist you fool, just because he doesn't buy into the one ruler world ruler like clinton and the other republican candidates in no way makes him isolationist, he just believes we should run our country according to the constitution, not buy the whim of other nations

show us all one fact to qualify your ridiculous statement
you won’t, because you can’t
It is amazing how much money a few spammers can generate. I am one of the smpmmers. I keep spamming Ron Paul's donation page.
While standing in line at a store, I turned and asked the couple behind be if they know Congressman Ron Paul. They both smiled from ear to ear and said "Yes, we know him,We're from Texas and we love him".
Good news.

However, what's this talk from MSNBC about Dr. Paul being an "isolationist?" Please issue a correction. He wants trade and diplomacy with all nations, not military intervention. He is a "non-interventionist."

This is a common misconception, so please make the correction apparent.
Go Ron Paul Go, you are awesome and have my vote.  Please MSNBC would you please make it clear that Ron Paul is NOT an Isolationist as suggested in this video:

http://video.msn.com/video.aspx?mkt=en-US&brand=msnbc&vid=911a8242-d311-42e5-88ad-f54093eec58a

This reporter needs to get her story straight, she did get the 5 million in contributions right though.  Anyway Mr.Paul is running on the Republican platform, but he is not like the other candidates at all, remember to register as a Republican in order to vote for Mr. Paul in the primaries, a lot of states are making this a mandatory thing, I just read it, and the GOP is trying to stop this wonderful man from getting the votes by changing the Primary dates and not giving voters enough time to re-register as Republicans.

God Bless you Dr. Paul, you have our support
I wish there were more information on the news about Ron Paul
I've supported Ron Paul since he first ran for President.  Whether he's a conservative-libertarian-republican, or whatever, he's the only one in the race I can support.
