Primary Calendar: Sue me? Sue you!

Florida Democrats aren't giving up easily. The Democratic Party is violating the Constitution and federal law by stripping 4 million Floridians of their right to vote in the presidential primary. That's according to a lawsuit Sen. Bill Nelson and Rep. Alcee Hastings plan to file tomorrow.

The suit will claim that the Democratic National Committee did not have the right to take away Florida's presidential delegates just because Republicans set the primary for Jan. 29th in violation of DNC rules. According to a draft copy obtained today by The Associated Press, it will also say presidential candidates were
pressured into boycotting the state, which takes away voters' rights to engage the candidates on issues important to them.

It will name the DNC and its chairman, Howard Dean, as defendants. Nelson and Hastings, both Florida Democrats, scheduled a news conference tomorrow morning to discuss the suit once it's filed.

The New York Times takes a look. The lawsuit likely doesn't have much of a chance since parties have always been given latitude when deciding how they choose their nominees.

New Hampshire to December?

Sec/State Bill Gardner is thinking hard about the primary date, and how to handle Iowa possibly being only a few days earlier instead of the usual 8 days. "If the Iowans choose to ignore their eight-day post-caucus window law, a caucus held so shortly before New Hampshire could diminish the primary's impact because it will leave little time for Iowa losers to recover and Iowa winners to fall. It will also eliminate the traditional eight-day post-Iowa frenzy that turns the eyes of the world on New Hampshire, and New Hampshire only. And that could have an economic impact."

Florida continues to waste people's time.  They should save their energy and work on changing the rules for the next Presidential election, instead of changing the rules in the middle of the game for this one.  Seriously, what does Florida think, that it has more of a right to leapfrog that California or New York or forty other states?  Or do they think its an every state for themselves free for all, and that each of those other forty-plus states should all be trying to leapfrog each other too, until the primary is held yesterday?  The lack of common sense and foresight  that is going into this grandstanding reminds one of the dreaded Florida phrase hanging chad; perhaps there should be a new federal law that says a state can only screw up a Presidential election once a decade.
Go DNC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Back when Florida was a toss-up state they received tons of money from the party in power. Now since going for bush 1 and 1/4 (stolen 2000) the money doesn't come in so they want to steal New Hampshire's thunder by having a first in nation primary.
The DNC (Howard Dean) and Illegal Immigrant supporter Bill Nelson are both idiots.
Can someone show me where the right to vote in party primaries is in the US constititution? Are Bill Nelson and Alcee Hastings idiots who don't know the constitution? (I admit I haven't checked so I am ready to apologize if proven wrong, but this one didn't seem worth the trouble of looking it up)
Maybe Florida will be the graveyard for the democrats again.
Nothing like party unity...
Sorry Jerry, Jeb Bush is not there to instruct Katherine Harris put her finger on one side of the scales.
Got proof that the election was stolen in 2000 Rufus?
Jerry, based on Rufus' comments I don't think you need to respond; it's a given.  The idiots in my party just wont let it go, and can't acknowledge that it was Al Gore's attempt to cherry pick the recounts that started this BS story goining.
The election was almost stolen by the Southeast Florida transplants that wanted to keep counting till they got the results they preferred.  Every time the ballets were counted, chads fell out and the count changed.  If the thing had not been stopped, the election would have been stolen by the Dems.  It has been found since, that area of Florida has many who have two residences and have been voting up North and down here.  Talk about crooked!
I would strongly suggest Florida Dems......

take a "how to punch a card and lose the chad" course 101 before election day.....
Florida Fox do you have proof that was going on??
So the solution is to hold the Iowa caucuses either before Christmas or between Christmas and New Years?  That's ridiculous.
If you go to Yahoo and type in "voted in New York and in Florida" you will come up with some of the info.  It was all over the news at the time.  The kicker is the double voters thought it was OK to do and it was not limited to New York.
PS:  I guess they got upset with the results because they thought the thing was stacked in their favor so when in doubt, make a big stink.
