Paul, Tancredo wouldn't back nominee

Posted: Tuesday, October 09, 2007 5:51 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
Paul and Tancredo said they would not necessarily support the GOP nominee. That is interesting. Does this feeling persist within the Republican Party? Is that bad news for Giuliani? Maybe. Maybe not. Brownback, the "values candidate" said no matter what he would support the nominee -- however grudgingly.

Both major parties will choose their nominee with no regard for the will of the people. At some point the people will bolt on the major parties. This election cycle, Ron Paul may provide that catalyst. Here in Montana, a newly purple state since '06, I see Ron Paul stickers next to NRA stickers on pick-up bumpers. I see hand painted Ron Paul Revolution signs on garages. I see a monthly group of 20 or 30 Ron Paul supporters waving signs and shouting on the street corners. These people are ex-Republicans. Angry ex-Republicans. They used to be real quiet folks who would dutifully wait for their top down party to tell them who to support. Not any more.
If Ron Paul takes, it probably hurts the Democrats most. They seem to be determined to do a Clinton Redux.
Could this be the perfect political storm? Disaffected middle class moderate conservatives fed up with the war, neocons, and drunken sailor republican spending combined with disaffected middle class moderate liberals fed up with the war, being called "plants" for speaking their mind and the spectacle of spineless wind surfing Democrats concerned only with their political fortunes.
Ive got my problems with libertarianism but when you need a revolution, beggars can't be choosers.
Hey Dems! Heads up!
Ron Paul is the only choice
GO RON PAUL  THE REST OF THEM ARE NOT WORTH VOTING FOR
Dr. Paul is our only option. What other candidate voting record reflects Constitutional muster?
Ron Paul is not going to be the GOP nominee and for good reason: He is insane!
Ron Paul speaks the truth, nothing can change when the power to print and issue the currency has been delegated to a private bank! The annual interest on the federal debt exceeds all of the income tax collected from all Americans!! Of course a two year old can distiguish who is the master and who is the slave in this scaenario. Ron Paul is the only candidate willing to abolish the FED, and only with it gone forever can we the people, and our Government, ever hope to recalin our freedom. Ron Paul hands down!
Vote lesser of 2 evils = evil! Stop it! Listen to Mitts solution gov fixes Detroit. Open markets, Freedom, & win via competition. Big 3 R part of OUR gov. Rent "Who Killed the Electric Car". Rent The Tucker. The Dale(75mpg), Dymaxion Car, EV1, & Bricklin all superior cars in some way killed via who? Go Ron Paul. Media hiding RP & twisting the truth. Don't let this happen. See yourself. youTube Salt Water Energy...Bet you edit this one!
Ron Paul is the onoy real republican there-I hope he runs as aan independent if the what is left of the GOP doesn't  nominate him
I think this is a non-question: something to waste the candidate's time in a "debate" and divert our attention from questions that actually matter.  I too am terribly disappointed in the way the news is presented to us.  Everyone I talk with sees it too, regardless of their political leaning.  Ron Paul handles this misbehavior with class.

I'm also terribly annoyed at MSNBC's website.  I'm only trying to watch the actual debate..as in, what was asked, and what each candidate said, and there are only selected clips available.  There are plenty of clips of these journalists telling me who won, who lost, who "looked most presidential" but no clips that allow me to decide this for myself.  The more this continues, the more I appreciate Dr. Paul.  Stop patronizing us MSM!
All the other candidates  have been carefully groomed for the last 20 years to keep the gravy train (statuesque ) rolling, it's all they know.  When I watch the commentators on TV I'm actually insulted that they think so little American and it’s  people. It's a sad sad  joke.
Dr. Paul or a third party.
I've given him my labor (making signs)& my money.  No one else gets my vote.

I usually vote Dem but I don't like an of the cadidates this year in either party except Ron Paul.

I think Dr. Paul has a good shot and won't all those who have snubbed him look foolish ?

GO RON PAUL !!!!!!
There is no candidate asides from Paul that deserves any support from any of us.  The top 4 will bring us nothing but the same policies of the Bush Administration.  RON PAUL OR NO ONE!
Paul & Tancredo are the only two people running for president that are decent, Patriotic Americans.

The rest of the GOP, & all of the Socialist whackos who claim to be Demagouges; are pathetic, & disgusting.

Chris "the ultimate scum bag" & "genuwine Penut Boy fan" Mathews, & MSNBC; hosting a debate; what did you expect?
still voting republican. :D
I have to echo the sentiment about Ron Paul, he at least has the intelligence to remember who he's representing "we the people", when he's speaking. He answers the questions straight forwardly and dosen't dance around the subject, and start blabbing away on a subject for so long people forget the question originally posed to him. Candidates seriously have to quit responding with the same tired rheteric, this isn't 1951, your dealing with a MUCH MORE INFORMED audience these days and they're tired of hearing the same recycled BS from ages ago. At least Ron Paul proposes REAL solutions, to our REAL problems and not the USUAL bloodthirst for more money and land. Only cowards have to defend constantly, because they don't have a real solution so they have to keep fighting and killing to try and prove their stronger. Most candidates are so FEAR-DRIVEN, it kills me that they have the audacity to speak of going to "church", question: did Jesus ever "kill" anyone to make a point???  I think not!!!! Anyway I digress, GO RON PAUL!!!!!!  PS I don't go to church, but thought I'd point out the hypocrisy of those who do.  RP for prez
This may surprise you, but there are democrates and republicans that will support the constituation, and the candiates who stand tall and imbrase it.  Go Ron Paul
Ron Paul is running for President of the United States of America and not the Republican Party. On another note the smear tactics against Ron are getting more and more dirty, vindictive and desperate as we witnessed in the MSNBC/CNBC post debate spin room. Over and over again we heard the Ghouliani smack down of Ron Paul and Ron Paul is a crazy isolationist lunatic and how much longer is Ron Paul going to hang around in these debates to get smacked down by Ghouliani. This was one of the most pathetic and disgusting attacks perpetrated by a news organization against a political candidate in television history so my question is to MSNBC/CNBC, is that the best you can come up with? it would be laughable if it were not so frightening.
I voted for Reagan in the first election I was old enough to vote in in 84', I voted for Ron Paul in 88 when he ran as a libertarian. He is the same today as he was in 1988.. his stances and views of polotics and issues have not changed.  I loved the 'I'll consult my attorneys " romney mess up what an idiot!  DEMS AND INDEPENDANTS. REGISTER AS REPUBLICAN TO VOTE FOR PAUL IN THE PRIMARY. WE NEED YOU! RON PAUL IN 08

Crusty,

If Ron Paul's supporters' votes are enough to loose you the election, perhaps you idiots that have lost your principles should start listening to him.

If you loose in 2008, because you refuse to stand on principles, then you simply didn't deserve to win. It will not be our fault. Let the GOP crash and burn. 'WE' will rebuild it.

Would I vote for Hillary if she were running as a Republican? Uh no... sometimes principles are more important than winning. This is America, not a football game.

Again if the GOP looses, it will be THEIR fault, not ours.
Ron Paul should certainly NOT support any other Republican nominee. To do so would be to support big government, out of control spending and government growth in a socialist manner. It would be support of a mainly non conservative non Republican nominee that will not slash and burn the federal government by 50% to 70% and who on earth wants a Republican candidate that is not going to shrink the American federal government by 50% to 70% ? Why should a strict constitutionist support a non strict constitutionist especially if its America we're talking about ? I love it, despite the mainstream media's best efforts, the good doctor's popularity continues to grow. I don't agree with all he says, but he is the only logical, common sense choice for America. I am an immigrant by the way.
What people need to understand is that the leadership in the Republican and Democratic parties are much more concerned about keeping the system the way it is, than long-term solutions to difficult problems.  As an example, if nothing is done about Social Security, at some point in the future, the system will collapse.  That is undisputable fact.  If that happens, it will cause a great deal of pain and suffering for many people.  Do you think it will have any impact on the Clintons or the Bushes?

We can keep doing what we are doing, and it will be easy, and it will probably not effect us that much.  We just need to understand, that we are ruining the future of our children and our grandchildren.  I am not fighting for my own comfort, I am fighting for the my children and grandchildren.  History has much to tell us about those that have fought for their own sake, and those that have risked all for the sake of future generations.
Well yea i think there is a real disconnect in The candidates with one another people are just saying the things they think voters want to here. But in NEW Hampshire Live free or die state Ron Paul will dominate because he tell the viewers like it is with radical ideas and unwavering stance on pandering to special interest. Now Iowa may not dig him based on the fact he doesn't support subsidies on ethanol and with them if you don't give to the corn God your in trouble. Ron is right though we should just leave it to the Open Market, thats why electric and bio-fuels are coming up its more sensible than ethanol. If you ask me Ethanol is the new hydrogen energy Bush was trying to promote.
I used to be a Republican, but now the GOP isn't so Grand. Ron Paul isn't pulling punches and it scares the hell out of the main stream guys. Anybody but Hillary, but I'll support Ron Paul after seeing him last night.
I am a life-long Democrat, have worked hard for my party for many years - but I dont' believe in dynasties - Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton - the first two were good for the country - that last two made the mess and won't get us out of the mess, respectively.  I am voting for Ron Paul.
Watched a rerun of the debate-----the motto should have been we love war----they all gave me the shivers----I agree Ron Paul made them look like mental midgets. How were these flunkies considered the top tier candidates?Bush repeats exactly what we do not need.
I haven't voted Republican since Ronald Reagan's first term because the Republicans usually use the state to impose moral views and limit people's liberty.  But Ron Paul could get my vote if he would stop moralizing by supporting that the state should interfere in defining marriage.  If the state is of the ALL the people, by ALL the people and for ALL the people, then he would truly be a Republican I could vote for.
I'm a Democrat, but I can understand why people would vote for Ron Paul.  Afterall, who doesn't want to end interventionist foreign policy and who isn't in favor of fiscal restraint.

Nevertheless, the man simply is not credible:
1)  Abolishing the Fed will kill our economy.  It is true that inflation has grown steadily due to the actions of the Fed, but our ENTIRE way of life depends on the availibility of money for loans.  Think about that the next time you want to buy a car, a house, or a new TV...Which do you like better, your shiny new Pickup or Ron Paul?

2)  A man who endorses the ANTI-VACCINATION movement does not have national interest at heart.  I know that libertarians hate the idea of the Federal Government regulating health matters, but the fact is that vaccination saves lives and YOUR boneheaded choice to NOT GET VACCINATED could kill me or my family...How can a DOCTOR be against vaccination?

3)  I pay more in income tax than some people make all year, but the fact is that reverting to property and excise taxes as RP supports will be a national disaster.  BTW, I live in Texas where we do NOT have state income taxes and we have big fiscal problems here.  Our property taxes increase every year, but poor folks suffer because they can not find funding for their local school districts.  National property taxes are a bad idea...

What I am trying to articulate is that Ron Paul supports some good ideas which people resonanate with, but he also adovacates ideas that will kill our economy.  That is why Ron Paul gets no coverage in the MSM.

Flame On!

You know what god for both of them, BUT ron paul is the dennis kusinich of the republican party. Our only savior is TOM TANCREDO! He will enforce our laws and keep the country safe as best he can. ron paul is a joke when it comes to securing this country. While it is easy to disagree on the Iraq war (war on terror) all Paul does is complain about it, how is he going to protect this country, he never says.... Tom Tancredo will enforce our laws ad tackle the politically incorrect problem of illegal imigration. He speaks his mind and is not just giving lip service at the debates.
GO TOM GO!
TOM TANCREDO IN 08
